Nowadays they are mostly in these jobs for financial benefits. So sad.

The force used to prevent, stop or fight the crime/criminals... The service wait for the crime to conclude and then only come out to offer assistance / take statements for the traumatized... It is sad how our country has degrated...

Well said once again. Nursing and policing but especially nursing is calling. Too many are getting these placements because they seek them as mere jobs .....where you earn money. Under the current dispensation there is no such thing as a public servant. They are our public masters. It's a shame....or is it shameful?
It is because there is no accountability as the saying goes.... the fish rots from the top! If ministers get rewarded with full pay and benefits when found to have committed an offense or don't get fired but just moved to another position. So if that is the game at the top, why would it be different at the lower end. No respect, no discipline.
This is so sad, and it makes us ex-SAPS officers furious. I am an ex SAPS Lt-col - serving in the Police was a calling for me and my mates of thirty years ago. Today, it is unfortunately just another job, and many policemen and women just don't care. They no longer serve and protect our communities. They have no respect for the uniform. It is a shame.
They have no regard for the authority the state has given them. One of these idiots will probably try to argue that they were not in uniform or off duty completely missing the point.
They can use the budget for team building to get exercise to get fit and lose weight. Then maybe they can start catching thieves that run away from them😂

We also pay for our own office teas and coffee. Why are the rules different for SAPS?? They are bringing disgrace to other government entities.
