It's not just celebrities who lie or exaggerate their height. Nearly every male I've ever known does this. Just like women lie about their age or weight. As a short person myself, I've always been a little height obsessive, as well as just being a stickler for accuracy in general. I used to be what Rob would call a "weak 5`7. Now at age 55 I measured 5`6 and a half at the doctors office. I know many guys who claim to be 5`8 that I can literally see over the top of their heads when standing face to face. At the same time, i know guys who might be an inch taller than me who claim 5`10 as well as 6`0 who claim 6'3 and so on. I have a younger brother who's six foot and a quarter. I usually use him to compare the heights of these guys who claim 6' and over. He used to rub it in about being taller than me when we were younger but we are cool now.

That is exactly my situation. I claim 174 cm. 5'8.5. I personally think you can claim 5'9 if it makes you feel better because if you reach it in the morning, thats technically your height and noone will call you out because of 1cm 😅

You're close. I was an extra in a movie with Mel Gibson about a year ago. I stand a solid 5'10" in Tennis shoes (no lifts). We stood about three feet apart and Mel was much shorter than me. I would say he is 5' 8" right now. I didn't look to see if he was wearing lifts. I don't think he was.

If you want to check how tall you are, just look at where your eye level is on the meter, if your eye level is at 167 cm then there are good chances that you might be 178 cm tall

So i just averaged the numbers to 168 cm, after that i added 11 cm as Rob said (11 to 12 cm is the difference between your eyes and the top of your head) and i got 179 cm on average. I am still not quite sure of this measurement because my head is kinda small so it could even be less then 11 cm but who knows. 179 though feels more likely, because i was already measured with a pair of dress shoes and i got 182,5 cm, and the customer told me that the shoe was 3,5 cm tall.

That's a reasonable guess. In the 80's and 90's he definitely looked shorter than how he looks in film/events nowadays due to the footwear.
