Height Virgin Measures Herself for the First Time!

- How accurate will a complete Height Virgin be when measuring her height for the first time? Giant Jenny from CelebHeights is a Measuring Novice and never actually measured her own height against a wall before!
Let's see how it goes.
I then measure her on the Stadiometer to compare the difference, if any.
Results:
Her self measurement using the can was 170.2-3cm
On the stadiometer I measured her near 171cm. The Stadiometer (in metric) gives 1mm extra, so this was 170.9cm
Basically about 6-7mm difference.
The difference is two-fold.
2mm for floor unevenness.
4mm or so for slightly better posture with me measuring her against the stadiometer.
With her co-ordination issues, it was a decent attempt for a complete height measuring novice. Jenny is what I'd call clumsy, and she herself calls herself that too.

I thought Jenny did fine for her first self-measurement using a can. She is 'clumsy' as she puts it and being her partner for 15 years, I will attest that her co-ordination isn't so good.
Yet, she still managed to place the can on top of her head, have it sit flush against the wall, put a pencil mark close to the rim of the can and run the tape measure up to the height mark.
NOTE: I looked at the floor afterwards and it undermeasured 2mm in that spot, so the other 4mm difference is likely slightly better posture with her back against the stadiometer.
This was 6 hours out of bed today (21st July), on feet for a good few hours beforehand.

Height Goal for 2023 is to try help Jenny recover a fraction 🤞
She definitely will! Trust me! If she drinks a lot of water, eats healthy as usual, and sleeps properly, I would see her regaining some of her height.
My Chemistry professor told me height loss over the years is due to the force of gravity after a certain period of time.
I think I'll help her out with a simple routine to stretch upper back. The key will be trying to make it become a habit. Even a few minutes a day should at least slow any loss, and hopefully gain a few mm back with time.
What do you think she did wrong? It looks very ok, 7mm is a lot.
My only guess is the meter wasnt completley straight, and being back to the wall is better then front maybe?

@Rob. Quite interesting that Jenny measures that much taller with her back against the stadiometer compared to facing the wall. Why do you think that is?
Bad posture and head shape. The top of my skull is near the back and if the stadia meter is at the front then it doesn’t get my entire skull
Rob, I woke up at 11:45 am and I was walking around the house for an hour and I measured myself at 1:25 pm I measured myself over 5’8” 1/4 and I measured myself again at the same time and measured myself just under 5’8” 1/4 and I measured myself at 2:15 pm and measured myself just under 5’8” 1/4 again do you think I could’ve been a solid 5’8” 1/4 if it wasn’t from walking around the house all day

Hey Rob, I went to the doctor recently and he measured me at 170cm approximately 2 hours after I got up, now measuring myself against the wall, in the morning it was about 170.9cm (same height as Jenny lol) but at night 169.1-2cm (the risk was between the two results), in your opinion, what height should I claim?
170 is right in middle of your range, so go with that

Hey Rob, in the morning I measure 184 and at night I can shrink up to 182-182.5. What height should I claim? I also have small kyphosis so that should also remove some from my height, right?

Hi Sir, I hope you can answer because ıt means a lot to me. Do you have any plan to measure Sneakers Uno shoes? I read that it can boost the height by almost 4.5 cm. I think this is a gamechanger but also some say the shoes sink rapidly and ended up only 1 inch boost. What do you think about these sneakers?
Don’t look as much as 4cm, more like 3cm

get some air max shoes, look good and most give 4 cm of height.. how tall are you barefoot?

Little posture difference and I checked this part of the floor and seemed like it is 2mm lower.

In fairness Jenny wasn't standing quite as straight as she could. She could stand another 0.25" taller.

Wow, she has lost a decent bit of height. I remember when she was the same height or very slightly taller than you.
She has 2 other sisters also in 50s who lost small amount like 1/8th or so…Jenny’s upper spine really has suffered over last decade. Like I’ve mentioned before, I believe craft work hunched over a desk contributed to her loss.
Peak Jenny was 5ft 9 morning, 5ft 8 evening. Rob is 5ft 8 7/8 morning, 5ft 8 1/8 evening. Jenny has lost a good 3/4 inch
@@RobPaul I notice at 2:12 that she has a bit of upper spinal curvature and forward head posture. The good news is that can be reversed with proper stretches/exercises. I think forms of height loss that don't involve the discs themselves can be reversed, at least to an extent.
It's getting Jenny to do the exercises to try to improve the kyphosis... I think I need to do them at the same time with her to get a routine going.
@@RobPaul Yeah, I can relate. It's not easy to motivate someone to exercise if they're not on board. Doing it together always helps, but at the end of the day it's on them. Kyphosis takes a while to reverse. I can personally attest to that.
Hello Rob, I always measure myself like this against the wall in the morning I measure 1.81 a few hours later I measure 1.80.5 or 1.80, in the afternoon 1.79.5 and at night 1.79 do you think so I measure myself with a section so I can add A couple of inches and you think it's okay to claim 1,80 as my height
yessir 180cm is fine ( say about 5ft 11) because you do measure it

Hey Rob, I wake up in the morning between 176.5 - 177 cm. I continue with 176-175 cm during the day. At night it can be 174.5 cm. What height should I request?
If feet/inches, a 5ft 9 claim suits you.

I'm usually between 175.5 and 176, 175 in the daytime towards the evening, sometimes it's 174.5 though not every day.

Jenny is up for trying a simple routine next year to see if we can stabilise or even recover a small fraction. I'll need to do it with her to motivate her...

I think in this case a few mm difference in posture and at this part of wall also slight variation in flooring

Hey rob, I measure 178.1-2cm ish when i first wake up and after 10 hours of being awake whilst walking around, standing, activities, etc, im 177.1 cm would a 5'10 claim be reasonable?

Hey Rob I measured on laser device I got 1.92m usually but recently I got 1.90m do you know why it could have decreased when I measure at home I get around 191.5 with a can
The can method might be more accurate, but maybe try another wall and see if you get similar 191.5 range
@@RobPaul in different house holds in different houses I always measure above 1.91 I measure objects in the house that are 1.905m and my head touches them so does this mean I am over 6’3

No way you only lose .8cm at your height. I’m 199cm and lose 1.9cm. Most guys our height lose even more.
