Purdy is so good against the blitz and the chiefs need to rely on the blitz, so I think the 49ers will dominate. Shanahan better call an amazing game, play-wise tho!
@@charlesg7926 unlikely, but even if the 9ers dominate in the first half spags is also the best at adjustments. If you’re the 9ers how do you fix something that isn’t broken?
@@charlesg7926 The problem is Niners fans thought all blitz pressures Brock faced (and tore up in the regular season) were created equal. Spags def showed some wild stuff in the SB and the poor Niners interior O-line didn't know how to assign protection. So you had downs where Chris Jones literally got to walk up to Brock in a matter of seconds undefended.
It's fair he's a 2nd year player and he was right there to win the superbowl, but he IS the niners franchise quarterback, similar to Joe montana or steve young, at the end of his career he may win at 3 superbowls, at worst, 1 which is okay enough
Some of those throws are nuts, the anticipation and the accuracy both off the charts. And keep in mind he’s not a particularly big dude, yet he finds a way to get the ball out, over or around the blitz.
Niners fans have watched Purdy torch blitzes since last season. He was not your avg rookie. And before the NFCCG this year I saw some people saying the Lions should "blitz the heck out" of him lol He was this reg season the best QB when pressured and when not pressured. Pick your poison 😉
Brock Purdy coming out of the draft-last man standing, is what you call a very smart QB that knows his X's and O's and goes through his progressions. Second pick of the 2017 draft-Mitch Trubisky, can't throw left and his riding the bench in Pittsburgh. You are probably best finding your franchise quarterbacks in the later rounds.
You’ve made three Purdy videos this year - the week before the Browns game, the week before the Ravens game, and the day before the Super Bowl. Are you trying to jinx him 😂
@@alecbolino1569 I didn't say that it's going to work, I just don't see Spagnuolo drawing up a game plan without it, especially with Omenihu being out.
@@monophthalmos9633 Oh nah man I wasn’t saying that you were. I just think that it’s gonna be tough to do in this game given Purdy’s proficiency handling pressure and because of the 49ers’ run game. Unless Spags guesses right and blitzes on first and second downs when the Niners are running play action, idk how many obvious passing situations the Chiefs will get to use those packages
@@alecbolino1569 Spags didn't need to 'guess' right on his blitzes. Spags got the experience and the cojones to sell out his defense to stop one thing the offense does. If he succeeds then he's knows how to disguise his pressures based on coverage rules. It was a huge difference that didn't get the Niners offense to dictate a possible offensive shootout, limit the explosives on the ground and in the air as well as get Brock on those key passing downs where Spags had a DB ready to scream past the LoS.
Thanks Alex!!! I can't forget the play 4 years ago with Jimmy could have hit his man to give the 49ers a td. That play was such a key play that game. We know Mahomes can make that play. Are you saying when it comes down to it, and it just might. Purdy is going to make that throw?
Thanks for another great breakdown, Sir Alex! I'm curious about the QB who had the highest yards per attempt in 1956. I was thinking it was probably Norm Van Brocklin, but that would have been 1954 when he was at 10.1.
As great as Purdy has passed against the blitz, I think he's going to need to use his legs as a means to keep the defense a little honest about what they're showing. Plays where he can threaten to run it which results in an open receiver or McCaffery, or defense stays on the receivers and Purdy hustles a crucial first down. I think Omenihu's absence will weaken the defensive interior enough to make the defense have to overcompensate somewhere leave an empty space for the Niners to attack.
Great vid! I'm glad to see your cynicism about Garoppolo doesn't carry over to BP. I'm yet to see any criticism of Purdy that's consistently valid. Vs. the Chiefs tomorrow will be his penultimate performance I suspect.
The only thing I still question about him is I've never seen anybody throw so many picks that get dropped/not caught by the defenders. Is this part of Purdy's sorcery or is regression to the mean inevitable at some point?
Literally every QB has dropped picks. Lamar had a few against the Texans and Chiefs. Goff did. Jordan Love had a couple. Mahomes had a dropped one against the Ravens and Bills.
Thank you Alex for calming me down before the big game. I’ve always believed in Purdy, and he’s destroyed the blitz ever since the giants tried doing it to him early this year
Was shit against the blitz in the sb he choked real bad for the 49ers… should’ve prepared for a big hit and delivered dots… he didn’t want it bad enough
wtf r u talking about......dude ltierally lead a game winning drive that should have been a 4 point lead but the guy whos kicked 70+ xps thie year missed it because he kicked ti too low.....it would have put them in a good spot to win the game. i dunno how u can blame him for that......mahomes was playing like garbage until the special team curse that caused a muffed punt which fucked the whole game.
I mean that audible play means everything. Read the defense, made the audible, kept his teammate on the same page, avoided a penalty, and got a big run out of it. But the critics will just say he got carried by CMC on that play if they only watch the highlights
Brock certainly doesn’t have the strongest arm. I don’t think he was invited to the combine so I don’t have numbers. But watching him throw I’d guess he’s around 55 MPH, plus-or-minus. If I’m right it’s “good enough.” (Mahomes and Allen are 62, Trevor is 61, CJ Stroud is 59, and Tua is 54 from memory, for comparisons.). But Brock is really good throwing off-platform and he has a terrific feel where his receiver will be, so he can throw early to a spot when necessary and he’s a dynamo at that. Generally he keeps the ball out of harm’s way, thus his good career TD-2-INT ratio. I haven’t looked lately but I think he’s at least 3 on that number. Plus of course his completion percentage is high-60s and he consistently has a passer rating around 100, or even better. So even though he’s not “Superman” he can make you look bad on defense.
@@moody4tech635 Wow, now who's lost his mind. The lowest score the Niner's had all year with Purdy starting was 22. And you think somehow the Chiefs hold them to 10?
Thanks for this. Perfect timing and anticipation like a Purdy pass! Haha. Too bad your breakdown still won’t convince the haters… they’re all just parrots repeating what they heard in the media, but actually haven’t watched Niner games or tape. If they did watch a game, it was prolly Xmas game or the playoffs… so they only saw bad days that every QB can have. Judging people on their worst days tells you more about the judger than the judged.
Watching as many videos as I can on the Chiefs and 49ers.... getting ready for what could be a really great Super Bowl. Born in Kansas City, lived for a long while in San Francisco, I've loved both teams for so long. This kid / man, not Nicole, is unreal. He reminds me of Montana actually. I am hoping for them to win, but it's hard for me to abandon my feelings for Mahomes and the Chiefs. Ultimately I know I will respect and like the outcome, no matter who wins it. Neutrality sucks though. So I'm picking the niners.
I feel at this point when people are sitting there calling him a game manager Mr check down they're just saying it because they're pissed at the fact that those things don't apply to him
I need more than a couple of games to convince me that anybody can consistently torch blitzes. I saw no blitzes were Purdy was getting serious heat coming straight up the middle at him, those are the ones qbs hate the most, I saw a number of slow developing stunts from the edges. Maybe he has faced that type of pressure, and done well but you don’t see it in these games. The McCaffrey td shows why many people think the NFL is suspect. Did anyone but me notice the jab step to the left that I believe his number was 26 made after McCaffrey had already planted with his right foot, and made his cut left?
I am a Ravens fan and even I know that the "game manager" and "system QB" comments are simply not true. Yes Jimmy G brought this same system to the Super Bowl, but that was mainly thru the run game. Purdy elevated this team's passing game. Sure, he has the Avengers with him, but having any other QB besides Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, or Burrow in that team won't take them as far as Purdy did.
However, Purdy under pressure, when the blitz gets home or otherwise, is a different story. He was pressured on 39.5% of his dropbacks in the regular season, the eighth-highest rate in the NFL. Under pressure, Purdy threw seven interceptions in the regular season, tied for the fifth-most in the NFL. Enter Steve Spagnuolo's Chiefs defense. Not only is Spagnuolo's 2023 defense the best of his Kansas City tenure, but it's the best Chiefs defense of the 21st century. Including the postseason, they rank second in the league in scoring defense (16.8 PPG allowed), fourth in total defense (294.7 total YPG allowed) and first in sack rate (8.6%). Chiefs defense this season including playoffs CHIEFS DEFENSE STATS KC'S BEST SINCE PPG Allowed 16.8* 1997 Total YPG Allowed 294.7* 1995 Sack Rate 8.6%* 1992 * All top four in NFL this season The Chiefs defense is playing this year is at an all-time great level, in the company of some of the best defenses in recent memory. They have allowed under 28 points in all 20 of their games, the most such games in a season in NFL history including the postseason. Yes, Brock Purdy has great weapons
While these are true, we have ways of isolating QB play and when we do we can see Brock is a great QB individually. If you dont believe in advanced data and analytics, we can also comapre him to the QB he repalced who had the same scheme and weapons, and no suprise there, he blows him out.

Brock is accurate
Brock is aggressive
Brock is smart

Brock is a special QB
Brock has been an elite QB this season
Brock has the potential to be a HOF QB someday

@@johnm78 Appreciate it!
Excellent post.
This is the perfect test for Purdy. He’s never played a defense like this and spags is the best in the league at hiding pressure.
Purdy is so good against the blitz and the chiefs need to rely on the blitz, so I think the 49ers will dominate. Shanahan better call an amazing game, play-wise tho!
That’s the only way u can rattle Brock is using the blitz even then he’s poised and calm
God, i just love football...best sport in the entire universe.....LOVE.
I feel like Purdy’s poise was evident in his very first NFL game but the difference from year 1 to year 2 is just incredible.
He's doing this in his 2nd uear, there are 10 year QB vets that can't process like him. I'm so excited to see if he can continue to evolve as a QB.
Not 49er fan, this is a great break down. Keep up the good work!
Are you trying to jinx him 😂
The jinx has to end at some point 😂😂 hopefully tomorrow is the day lol
He said tyreek is unstoppable, and then tyreek did nothing the rest of the year.
@@speedy9313-rv1dm he said love was a shit show, and he balled out of control. I know, I unsubscribed
He made his first Purdy video a day before the Cowboys game and then he torched them. I'm getting the same vibes here
The Niners will win the Sb
Good video, I feel like making it hurt you in your soul, but props for making it!
Spags will probably try to confuse Purdy with simulated pressures.
If the 49ers are forced into 3rd and longs, I’m sure he will. But this video is a literal explanation of why that won’t work
@@alecbolino1569 I didn't say that it's going to work, I just don't see Spagnuolo drawing up a game plan without it, especially with Omenihu being out.
Translation Brock Purdy is himmm!!!
Thanks Alex!!! I can't forget the play 4 years ago with Jimmy could have hit his man to give the 49ers a td. That play was such a key play that game. We know Mahomes can make that play. Are you saying when it comes down to it, and it just might. Purdy is going to make that throw?
Thanks brother! Yeah however Purdy had Chris Jones right in his lap for the big miss in this game, so it's hard to knock him on that one
Thanks for another great breakdown, Sir Alex! I'm curious about the QB who had the highest yards per attempt in 1956. I was thinking it was probably Norm Van Brocklin, but that would have been 1954 when he was at 10.1.
Thank you! Some dude named Ed Brown had 9.9
I'm just glad he's on our squad. As always, thanks for the video ❤
8:26 darnell savage moment
As great as Purdy has passed against the blitz, I think he's going to need to use his legs as a means to keep the defense a little honest about what they're showing. Plays where he can threaten to run it which results in an open receiver or McCaffery, or defense stays on the receivers and Purdy hustles a crucial first down.
I think Omenihu's absence will weaken the defensive interior enough to make the defense have to overcompensate somewhere leave an empty space for the Niners to attack.
This is encouraging Kansas City likes to blitz, and. Brock is a very smart qb. I like our chances this year
Great vid! I'm glad to see your cynicism about Garoppolo doesn't carry over to BP. I'm yet to see any criticism of Purdy that's consistently valid. Vs. the Chiefs tomorrow will be his penultimate performance I suspect.
Thanks! Statistically they were pretty similar at least through Brock's year, but Brock had an insane season with a tough ending
What’s that intro music? It’s in the description box but I can’t find it. Great video!
Morning sun by yondo beats
The only thing I still question about him is I've never seen anybody throw so many picks that get dropped/not caught by the defenders. Is this part of Purdy's sorcery or is regression to the mean inevitable at some point?
He's got a gun slinger mentality plus he's a 2nd year 1st year starter
well so does Mahomes!
Literally every QB has dropped picks. Lamar had a few against the Texans and Chiefs. Goff did. Jordan Love had a couple. Mahomes had a dropped one against the Ravens and Bills.
6:00 Cowboys catching strays 😂😂😂
Thank you Alex for calming me down before the big game. I’ve always believed in Purdy, and he’s destroyed the blitz ever since the giants tried doing it to him early this year
Babe babe wakeup, new Rollins dropped
Was shit against the blitz in the sb he choked real bad for the 49ers… should’ve prepared for a big hit and delivered dots… he didn’t want it bad enough
wtf r u talking about......dude ltierally lead a game winning drive that should have been a 4 point lead but the guy whos kicked 70+ xps thie year missed it because he kicked ti too low.....it would have put them in a good spot to win the game. i dunno how u can blame him for that......mahomes was playing like garbage until the special team curse that caused a muffed punt which fucked the whole game.
Love the videos you should do a why the panthers offense was terrible keep up the great work
Thanks! That's a great offseason topic I'll have to hit
His arm is stronger than you think. He played baseball, plus he said the rehab from the elbow injuring actually increased his arm strength
He was at the combine just look it up. Craziest stat was he did 29 reps of 225 on bench press which was #1 overall
Purdy is special. Mahomes is also special. I am excited for this superbowl.
Don't put Purdy in the same light as Mahomes. You have lost your damn mind.
@@moody4tech635 Purdy put up MVP numbers this year. How can you deny that?
@alexwoods2886 I don't deny it. Had my vote and probably would have won until they lost 3 games in a row.
Btw Chiefs 24 to 10
@@moody4tech635 Wow, now who's lost his mind. The lowest score the Niner's had all year with Purdy starting was 22. And you think somehow the Chiefs hold them to 10?
Best part is at 6:00 😂😂
I thought the hand symbol was to let CMC know that the line is in a 5-O blocking scheme...?
you made a video about lamar being impossible to defend and the Chiefs showed that was hyperbolic.
If you want to call him a product of the system, then why couldnt Jimmy or Trey do this? 🤔
The Alex Rollins curse strikes again! Purdy looked pretty ugly against the blitz!
He wasn't great!
Show the a breakdown of the vikings and ravens game

Last second sports sent me.
I'm looking forward to this Super Bowl. Purdy's is a Super Bowl winner at age 24
(A+) brain + (B talent) = a top quarterback. Montana was pretty much the same type.
No one talking about how he brought up the Drake leak🤣🤣
Hey Alex! Great video, as always.
Go Niners!!!

The Chiefs defense is playing this year is at an all-time great level, in the company of some of the best defenses in recent memory. They have allowed under 28 points in all 20 of their games, the most such games in a season in NFL history including the postseason.
