People forget that when Purdy was drafted he was actually QB 4 on the depth chart. The 49ers paid Nate Sudfeld a $2 million dollar contract GUARANTEED. So Purdy had to beat Sudfeld to be QB3! The Niners eventually cut Sudfeld basically losing out on $2mil. I know it’s Nate Sudfeld, but when a team pays somebody, they don’t want to cut them super easily in my opinion.
Also, my favorite story is when Purdy’s parents bought tickets to the Bucs/Niners game before the season started just to watch Tom Brady! How crazy is that the one game you bought tickets for happens to be your sons first NFL start and wins against Tom Brady of all people!

And brock purdy took over for the team against the dolphins with Dan Marino in the stands in that game
Oh and also he injured his oblique against the bucs and still played 4 days later to beat the Seahawks on Thursday night. Dude is tough

Funny story; my next door neighbor here in Newport Beach went to high school with Nate Suffield and also went to college with him and we are both HUGE 49er fans. He texted me that morning when Nate, his buddy got the $2,000,000 guaranteed and both him and & I were happy for Nate. We thought he was going to make the team but out of left field comes Purdy and wins the spot.! Also here in Newport Beach 15 blocks from where me and Nate's friend live the Mr.Irrelevent kicked off! I knew Purdy was special from day 1 when I heard this news that we picked him over Nate Sudfeld

As a 49er fan, watching Purdy's play last year was the first time in a long time I didn't feel nervous about the QB position. I loved Jimmy G, but sometimes he would just hold the ball almost flat footed, and you would see a defender start coming from behind him, and he would inevitably take the sack. There were several similar instances when Purdy was playing where I was sure he would take a sack, but he felt the pressure and was agile enough to avoid, and extend the play.

I was born in Walnut Creek CA and have been a 49ers fan since the 80's and it just so happens that I moved to AZ when I was 21 and even more I bought a house in QC AZ on the same street as the Purdy's. I don't know them well but they were very nice polite family. I went to watch Purdy once and was impressed at how well a HS played and watching him play for my Niners has given me nothing but joy! If you think of all the greats, Brady, Montana, Manning, Elway, etc all of them are like Purdy. Their greatest quality was not any physical talewnt they have but the mental talent thet have. None of them were the most athletic or physically talented on the feild but they were the smartest on the field....Just like Brock! Can't wait to see him lead us to a SB!!! (and no I moved to Houston a few years ago so I don't get to see the Purdy's anymore)

Proof that at all levels accuracy, intelligence, poise, and leadership can be overlooked in a age when physical features are the markers. And fun fact, it’s wasn’t a coach, gm, or front office personnel that demanded the team draft purdy, it was a lower lvl scout for the 49ers who begged the team to draft him. The first start against Tom Brady, the greatest late round QB (and all time) in the nfl history just feels like destiny. Just the way he carries himself, the throws he makes, and the extend ability is something we haven’t had in a long time and he truly feels like a franchise qb and it doesn’t seem real that Mr irrelevant could be a pro bowl qb one day. I want Trey to be great so bad but he can’t even make simple throws…

The only issue worry about is purdy defeating himself. What type of toll did that injury have on his physical and more importantly mental aspect in the game. I needed this. The way the 49ers "fans" (i dont think a lot of them truly are fans) have focused so heavily on the trey lance situation when he was never going to be the starter this year anyway has been beyond frustrating and disapointing. They look right passed this kid who HAS THE MOST INCREDIBLE STORY!! To complain about how the staff have handled a QB 3. Brock deserved to be uplifted and championed by the fan base. He has a heart of Gold and will lead us to multiple super bowls i just know it. I hope all this trey stuff can finally get behind him. When a reporter asked him if he had survivors guilt or remorse after the last pre season show case he put on was absolutely disgusting. And yet he handles it all with such grace. I also love his faith in God and determination to remain the present and worry about today. Purdy is a GREAT example of why focusing s much on just the physical part of the game is the wrong approach. Purdy has the intangibles, which are hard to quantify, and accuracy. I expect Purdy to end up having a great career if he can stay healthy. He is just a really good football player.

Then this kid named Brock Purdy comes in and goes 5-0 in the rest of the season. Takes us to the playoffs and just like that a devastating injury. But Brock to it and has come back even stronger than before. This kid is amazing!!! I'm a native of Los Altos and I too lived in Queen Creek, Az. No I don't know him or his family but as a Faithful since 1980 I've watched the Niners become a dynasty and Brock is going to get the Niners the 6th and more!!! Let's go Niners!!! ❤💛🏈

Go Perry Pumas. Went to Perry the same time Brock did and went to every football game he played, including both state championships. Dude is a machine. Our program was terrible before him and terrible after him. He single handedly brought us the the state championship against Chandler twice, and nearly got them once. I was so hoping for him to have a chance to start in the SuperBowl game in Arizona last year before the Eagles screwed him.

Been watching the Niners my whole life. Purdy is honestly the first QB since maybe Young that I wasn’t constantly concerned about throwing a pick or making a dumb play. Alex Smith had his moments but wasn’t trusted to throw long. Kaepernick couldn’t hit a brick wall from 10 feet, was only fun to watch run. Jimmy G was a lot like Alex Smith. Just a game manager. But Purdy can make reads, scramble the pocket and make dimes down field. He’s doing exactly what we all hoped Trey Lance would do.
In fact, if Trey Lance did what Purdy did last year he’d be a top 10 fantasy QB, maybe higher

It wasn't just 49er insiders who knew Brock could be Mr. Just-Fine as their QB. I knew he hadn't prepared to be a backup just in case. He'd prepared to be the man ready to step in at any time and win as their QB. This wasn't a secret, but it wasn't widely known.
