People forget that Brock Purdy had a serious injury to his throwing arm last year and didn’t even get to train but rehab. And after MVP caliber FIRST full season, now he gets full off season training and workouts for his 2nd full season at age 24~25. The entire offense is there with Pearsall added now. There is no reason to think Purdy won’t be even better when he showed up in best shape of his life at training.
The last time the Niners made the Super bowl the following season they went 6-10 and were just decimated with injuries. It has never happened on Kyle Shamnhan’s record that one of his Qbs stays healthy for two full seasons. We can only wait

Serious deja vu. This is exactly what Brady was called for years. I'm old, so I remember. Not even a SF fan, but I've got my eye on this guy. He might be one.
One of the wildest things about Purdy is you can tell many who talk about him have only maybe seen him play in a game or two. People talk like he’s a check-down guy; he’s a gambler. People think it’s all YAC; top of the league in Air yards and y/pa. Etc. One thing working against him is that the Philly game, which got a lot of views, WAS a YAC game, but only because that was the specific game plan to negate the Eagles pass rush against the Niners subpar OL. So it served as confirmation bias for many who had already decided he was Jimmy G 2. But if you watch him for any length of time you will note three things; he does NOT play it safe, his preferred passing area is longer intermediate, and he’s got great movement skills, whether it’s buying time with subtle half steps or escaping the pocket and throwing on the run or moving the sicks. And he might be the best anticipation thrower in the entire league.
I’m a Seahawks fan and even I’m impressed with Brock Purdy. Can’t help but root for the guy and give him credit like Niners fans gave Russell as a third round pick coming into his early years.

Fair breakdown. The only thing I would add is that the QB School videos do include examples of him using his eyes to move defenders. So he doe do that sometimes, but I'll acknowledge that improvement would be a good thing.
There is one factor in his development so far that doesn't get mentioned much in his second year ... He didn't have a off-season as he was recovering from surgery. He missed OTA and mini camps and didn't start throwing till right before pre-season .. and even then he has limited to so many throws per practice. To be able to run the offense as efficiently as he did, considering the complexity of the shanahan system is impressive. This season of course will be a barometer of Purdy. He will have a full off season and if he only gets better then Niners truly know they have their QB.
Agreed basically everything until 8:10. If you say Purdy doesn't know how to manipulate defenses with his eyes, you haven't really watched him. Yes, he can sometimes stare receivers (newsflash, every QB does that from time to time, even the great ones), but he is really really good at manipulating defenders with his eyes.
I had the same thoughts. There’s film on top of film where he manipulates defenders with his eyes, otherwise those “spots” he throws to would be an easy tell for defenders and it’d be pick city. He doesn’t bite on what defenses try to lure him into, and when he does and things breaks down- he’s mobile and can make critical plays out of structure.
By the time he was 25 and going into his 3rd season, Joe Montana had made 8 starts, and was 2-6 with a QB Rating of 87.8. Purdy at age 24 and going into his 3rd season, is 17-4, with 1 pro bowl selection, 1 NFC conference championship, 1 Superbowl appearance, and a QB Rating of 111.4. Not saying Purdy is the next Joe Montana, but so far in his career he is off to a great start. The sky is the limit for this kid.
Love how Purdy was basically a walk-on but continues to produce. I think it’s more of a testament to how most of the league overlooks and under develops players (see last draft), than whether or not he’s “just a game manager”; even Montana ain’t going to the promise land w out a decent team or slick scheme. Yep. Purdy cannot be ONLY a system QB. He is probably a 50% system QB, but most QBs didn't do what Purdy did. Trey Lance, Josh Rossen, CJ Beathard, Nick Mullen and couple of others tried, but they couldn't do what Brock did. Brock also has deceptive speed. He looks slow, but he often escapes the rush. I think he is a top 6 QB regardless of what anyone else says. He has proven it.

It just shows the reality of the NFL. You might get only get a couple chances, maybe just one, but if you show up and produce, you'll live to play another day. If you don't, chances are once the season is over you're going to be working at a mattress retailer.

Purdy is great. I am curious. Which teams that made it to the Super Bowl was not loaded with talent. Montana had Rice, Jones, Craig, Taylor and a great defense.
He’s in a great situation that has optimized his production, but he still has great intangibles. Having a leader with a strong pocket presence is hard to come by especially from someone so inexperienced. I hope he improves his measurable skills on top of his intangible skills.

Before Brock shanahans offense was critiqued for relying too much on tight windows and complications and that it was too complex for a qb to run it properly, but a guy comes in and runs it to perfection it’s suddenly the other way around. I get a lot of the coaching in the video and I agree, and as a niner fan I only want him to get better, but I don’t think purdys numbers were inflated, especially when you look that he had the 2nd most air yards, and 1st most air yards per attempt, and highest deep ball completion percentage of any qb ever

I think the point that everyone else is trying to make is different than your's, and you're just manipulating words. "System Qb's" are Qb's that benefit significantly more from the system that they are in than the avg qb does.

The truth is every QB has to be a system QB or they fail. You may be able to be successful for a year or 2 without being great in the system but then they will fail. See Cam. He was good for a bit but then just couldn’t manage the system.

He just finished year 2, he has fewer than 25 NFL regular season starts, he's still really young. The above criteria in the quote is what you use to evaluate a 10 year veteran. Someone who has been there, done that. He might not use his eyes at a high level, but he does use them at a good level, and certainly at a "way better than Jimmy G ever did" level. If Trey Lance was doing in the 49ers offense what Purdy has done the last two years, the consensus would be that lance was the second best QB in football behind Mahomes. No one would ding Lance for being on a loaded team. Do you want to look at what young QBs are doing right now in some pretty good situations around the NFL and the level of praise they get for doing it? Josh Allen is the consensus 2nd best QB in the league, he CHOKED in the fourth quarter of the playoff game against KC. Lamar is definitely one of the four best QBs in the league, and has two MVPs before he turns 30. Brock Purdy has twice the number of playoff wins as Larmar, who also CHOKED against Mahomes. Purdy got his team the lead in overtime against Mahomes. The pressure of post-season, single elimination football intense. Even great players get tight in the pressure cooker of playoff football. Allen and Jackson get tight and play scared. Mahomes and Burrow get loose and play free. It doesn't matter how good a regular season QB you've got, if your QB can't handle playoff pressure, you're not going to win Superbowls. Purdy can, when it was obvious Burrow was a QB whose game raised in the playoffs, he got praised for that. Purdy raises his game in the playoffs, and it's never even mentioned. He absolutely gets diminished because of where he was drafted. If he had been a top five pick, this entire conversation would be very different right now.
Shanahan is overrated, all of the GOOD teams are able to play his scheme and he refuses to adjust like a great coach would (Andy Reid has a brand new game plan vs the niners every single year) Shanahan runs the same stuff from week 1 to the Super Bowl every season he only gets away with it because of the talent in SF
He is legit a system QB but he’s on time and wins. He’s a great system QB. But most throws where you give him credit for “anticipation” are timing throws. Before the ball is snapped he knows he’s going to throw it because of how the play is drawn up. I give him credit because he’s ON TIME. But if you rely on ing plays , you are a system qb. That’s not all he has but its his play style AND THATS OKAY 😂. It’s not a bad thing to be a system QB. However there’s a difference between Purdy vs Allen/Lamar. Nobody goes into a 49ers game and circles Purdy as the offenses primary weapon. He really is the new Brady: late round pick who gets the starting gig after injury to the big name star (in this case two of them), immediately has as much or more success than they did, gets crapped on as a “system QB.” Like the GOAT Purdy also plays a smart game, avoiding turnovers and relying on his weapons rather than playing hero-ball. Some similarities, but more differences. Brady was very tall and not particularly mobile. His greatness was in his total understanding and anticipation of defensive schemes. He also had very good (though perhaps not elite) arm strength. His head coach was defensive-minded and spent more money building the defense. Purdy is the opposite of these traits. Not particularly tall, arm strength isn't great. Benefits from having an elite offensive mind in Kyle Shanahan dialing up plays. Plays on an offense with all-pros at every single position. That's right. EVERY position. He usually throws to wide-open guys, or throws a dumpoff that CMC or Deebo takes for 20+ yards. Jimmy Garoppolo, who is now a backup, put up similar numbers to Purdy with mostly the same team (Jimmy never had CMC). He reached NFCCG's and a SB. This is because he had a great offensive coach and was surrounded by great talent. If you switched Josh Allen's and Brock Purdy's teams, the 49ers would probably win the super bowl, and the bills would not make the playoffs.

Purdy does not just follow the system. He has shown ways that can elevate it. Whether it's using his legs, anticipation, or his situational awareness before the snap. If Kyle Shanahan wants to get a Super Bowl win, he'll have give Purdy more control of the offense.

One of the reasons I prefer basketball to football is that in basketball you can have a "game manager" point guard and an "explosive" "play-maker" point guard at the same time... Pacers run to the ECF this year with Halliburton and Andrew Nembhard is a great example
I think if you look at his games after the ravens game. You can really see him start to get into his ability to play off schedule. Where’d that was cause of bad defenses or not idk. But he looked a lot better after that game in my opinion.

In the last superbowl he makes as much plays as Mahomes but 49ers had unlucky breaks in CMC fumbled, a muffed punt recovered by the chiefs and Aiyuk did not make his usual big plays, a rookie kicker missing a sure fire 3 points and Niners lost by 3. Purdy could have easily won them the game but missed Debo open in the end zone. The fumble and punt don’t really matter since both teams had 2 turnovers. I’ve seen a good number. Nothing about him as a player really sticks out. There is a reason he was the last pick. He doesn’t have a great arm, isn’t a great athlete, and frankly he whiffs on a good number of open throws. I think him having 4 of the best weapons in the game and playing under one of, if not the best offensive coaches in the game really elevates him.

Ya know what people dont realize is thst Purdy could have won the super bowl of he was allowed to run around and make plays if he played for the cheifs whos O line is so great they still have never even made a holding penalty in 3 super titles. My thoughts on Purdy could be summarized with the leaked story that Kyle and Lynch told Purdy in the offseason that they were going to try and lure Brady to the Niners but if that fell through he’s the starter. Are the comfortable even happy with Purdy as the starter? Absolutely. Do they know there are still better options out there? Absolutely. And I know losing out to the GOAT really doesn’t say much. But let’s not act like they wouldn’t trade him out for any of the top tier QBs. He’s in the top of the middle tier. 13 feels perfect for him. This video did a really fair breakdown of him.

Purdy has sub-par pass protection. Niner's OL is Trent Williams and 4 other guys. The stats rank the Niner's pass protection in the bottom 3rd of the league. You can't bring up "lots of weapons" without talking about that. He's NOT a game manager, that's just a dumb take.
Do elite QBs need to have all the weapons and a great O line? Can't have it all, especially when he is getting paid. Gonna have to elevate regardless of something if he is going to reach elite status.

It's so hard to place Purdy, and QBs like him that are efficient and effective at running an offense in time and on rhythm, in the macro of QBs I feel quite confident that he's not in the realm of Allen, Mahomes, and Jackson - these total playmakers and game changers at the position that add command a ton of respect due to how much they can affect any play - usually through a combination of mobility and arm talent. Yet he's definitely more than a Lawrence or Prescott with how he's been managing the 49er offense and putting up solid numbers and performances, solid pocket and situational awareness, and a willingness to play the middle of the field. Not a Game CHANGER, but more than a Game MANAGER. A top 10 QB in my eyes, that is absolutely worth keeping around if you're San Francisco, and hopefully can become a game changer of QB by perfecting the proficiency elements of the position.

I think anyone playing under shanahan can fall into the system qb it game manager label, which isn't a bad thing at all because you need someone who can run his system well. I sometimes feel like the wealth of weapons at his the 9ers disposal almost might make it more difficult to be just a standard system QB because the elevated star power of your surrounding cast causes people to raise their expectations for the qb as a whole.

Its funny this guy says Purdy doesn't use his eyes to pull defenders off the guy he wants to throw to. Yet Kurt Warner, along with several other qb's point out the exact opposite of this while actually breaking down film on Purdy. This guy doesn't know what hes talking about.
The fact that you would say that he has yet to learn how to use his eyes to manipulate defenses tells me that maybe you haven't watched enough of this film. And if you have, then perhaps you're not analyzing it properly. If the fix to defending against Brock is as easy as you are implying, then how come more defenses haven't been doing it?
People forget that Brock Purdy had a serious injury to his throwing arm last year and didn’t even get to train but rehab. And after MVP caliber FIRST full season, now he gets full off season training and workouts for his 2nd full season at age 24~25. The entire offense is there with Pearsall added now. There is no reason to think Purdy won’t be even better when he showed up in best shape of his life at training.
The last time the Niners made the Super bowl the following season they went 6-10 and were just decimated with injuries. It has never happened on Kyle Shamnhan’s record that one of his Qbs stays healthy for two full seasons. We can only wait

One of the wildest things about Purdy is you can tell many who talk about him have only maybe seen him play in a game or two. People talk like he’s a check-down guy; he’s a gambler. People think it’s all YAC; top of the league in Air yards and y/pa. Etc.
One thing working against him is that the Philly game, which got a lot of views, WAS a YAC game, but only because that was the specific game plan to negate the Eagles pass rush against the Niners subpar OL. So it served as confirmation bias for many who had already decided he was Jimmy G 2. But if you watch him for any length of time you will note three things; he does NOT play it safe, his preferred passing area is longer intermediate, and he’s got great movement skills, whether it’s buying time with subtle half steps or escaping the pocket and throwing on the run or moving the sicks. And he might be the best anticipation thrower in the entire league.

Fair breakdown. The only thing I would add is that the QB School videos do include examples of him using his eyes to move defenders. So he doe do that sometimes, but I'll acknowledge that improvement would be a good thing.

There is one factor in his development so far that doesn't get mentioned much in his second year ... He didn't have a off-season as he was recovering from surgery.
He missed OTA and mini camps and didn't start throwing till right before pre-season .. and even then he has limited to so many throws per practice. To be able to run the offense as efficiently as he did, considering the complexity of the shanahan system is impressive.
This season of course will be a barometer of Purdy. He will have a full off season and if he only gets better then Niners truly know they have their QB.
Agreed basically everything until 8:10. If you say Purdy doesn't know how to manipulate defenses with his eyes, you haven't really watched him. Yes, he can sometimes stare receivers (newsflash, every QB does that from time to time, even the great ones), but he is really really good at manipulating defenders with his eyes.
I had the same thoughts. There’s film on top of film where he manipulates defenders with his eyes, otherwise those “spots” he throws to would be an easy tell for defenders and it’d be pick city. He doesn’t bite on what defenses try to lure him into, and when he does and things breaks down- he’s mobile and can make critical plays out of structure.

Purdy at age 24 and going into his 3rd season, is 17-4, with 1 pro bowl selection, 1 NFC conference championship, 1 Superbowl appearance, and a QB Rating of 111.4.
Not saying Purdy is the next Joe Montana, but so far in his career he is off to a great start.

Yep. Purdy cannot be ONLY a system QB. He is probably a 50% system QB, but most QBs didn't do what Purdy did. Trey Lance, Josh Rossen, CJ Beathard, Nick Mullen and couple of others tried, but they couldn't do what Brock did. Brock also has deceptive speed. He looks slow, but he often escapes the rush. I think he is a top 6 QB regardless of what anyone else says. He has proven it.

It just shows the reality of the NFL. You might get only get a couple chances, maybe just one, but if you show up and produce, you'll live to play another day. If you don't, chances are once the season is over you're going to be working at a mattress retailer.

Purdy is great. I am curious. Which teams that made it to the Super Bowl was not loaded with talent. Montana had Rice, Jones, Craig, Taylor and a great defense.

He’s in a great situation that has optimized his production, but he still has great intangibles. Having a leader with a strong pocket presence is hard to come by especially from someone so inexperienced.

Before Brock shanahans offense was critiqued for relying too much on tight windows and complications and that it was too complex for a qb to run it properly, but a guy comes in and runs it to perfection it’s suddenly the other way around. I get a lot of the coaching in the video and I agree, and as a niner fan I only want him to get better, but I don’t think purdys numbers were inflated, especially when you look that he had the 2nd most air yards, and 1st most air yards per attempt, and highest deep ball completion percentage of any qb ever

The truth is every QB has to be a system QB or they fail. You may be able to be successful for a year or 2 without being great in the system but then they will fail. See Cam. He was good for a bit but then just couldn’t manage the system.
Purdy is in one of the most ideal situations a QB can be in.
That overrates him and also allows him to develop into a top QB.

He just finished year 2, he has fewer than 25 NFL regular season starts, he's still really young. The above criteria in the quote is what you use to evaluate a 10 year veteran. Someone who has been there, done that. He might not use his eyes at a high level, but he does use them at a good level, and certainly at a "way better than Jimmy G ever did" level.
If Trey Lance was doing in the 49ers offense what Purdy has done the last two years, the consensus would be that lance was the second best QB in football behind Mahomes. No one would ding Lance for being on a loaded team. Do you want to look at what young QBs are doing right now in some pretty good situations around the NFL and the level of praise they get for doing it? Josh Allen is the consensus 2nd best QB in the league, he CHOKED in the fourth quarter of the playoff game against KC. Lamar is definitely one of the four best QBs in the league, and has two MVPs before he turns 30. Brock Purdy has twice the number of playoff wins as Larmar, who also CHOKED against Mahomes. Purdy got his team the lead in overtime against Mahomes.
The pressure of post-season, single elimination football intense. Even great players get tight in the pressure cooker of playoff football. Allen and Jackson get tight and play scared. Mahomes and Burrow get loose and play free. It doesn't matter how good a regular season QB you've got, if your QB can't handle playoff pressure, you're not going to win Superbowls. Purdy can, when it was obvious Burrow was a QB whose game raised in the playoffs, he got praised for that. Purdy raises his game in the playoffs, and it's never even mentioned.

He is legit a system QB but he’s on time and wins. He’s a great system QB. But most throws where you give him credit for “anticipation” are timing throws. Before the ball is snapped he knows he’s going to throw it because of how the play is drawn up. I give him credit because he’s ON TIME. But if you rely on ing plays , you are a system qb. That’s not all he has but its his play style AND THATS OKAY 😂. It’s not a bad thing to be a system QB.
However there’s a difference between Purdy vs Allen/Lamar. Nobody goes into a 49ers game and circles Purdy as the offenses primary weapon. Teams that play the Ravens and Bills HAVE TO circle Josh Allen and Lamar’s name, because they I’ll hurt you without anyone’s help.

He really is the new Brady: late round pick who gets the starting gig after injury to the big name star (in this case two of them), immediately has as much or more success than they did, gets crapped on as a “system QB.” Like the GOAT Purdy also plays a smart game, avoiding turnovers and relying on his weapons rather than playing hero-ball.
Tom also took a couple of years to really develop into the GOAT-I’d argue about 2005, since that’s when his interception rate started dropping year over year.

Some similarities, but more differences. Brady was very tall and not particularly mobile. His greatness was in his total understanding and anticipation of defensive schemes. He also had very good (though perhaps not elite) arm strength. His head coach was defensive-minded and spent more money building the defense.
Purdy is the opposite of these traits. Not particularly tall, arm strength isn't great. Benefits from having an elite offensive mind in Kyle Shanahan dialing up plays. Plays on an offense with all-pros at every single position. That's right. EVERY position. He usually throws to wide-open guys, or throws a dumpoff that CMC or Deebo takes for 20+ yards.
Jimmy Garoppolo, who is now a backup, put up similar numbers to Purdy with mostly the same team (Jimmy never had CMC). He reached NFCCG's and a SB. This is because he had a great offensive coach and was surrounded by great talent. If you switched Josh Allen's and Brock Purdy's teams, the 49ers would probably win the super bowl, and the bills would not make the playoffs.

Purdy does not just follow the system. He has shown ways that can elevate it. Whether it's using his legs, anticipation, or his situational awareness before the snap. If Kyle Shanahan wants to get a Super Bowl win, he'll have give Purdy more control of the offense.

One of the reasons I prefer basketball to football is that in basketball you can have a "game manager" point guard and an "explosive" "play-maker" point guard at the same time... Pacers run to the ECF this year with Halliburton and Andrew Nembhard is a great example

I’ve seen a good number. Nothing about him as a player really sticks out. There is a reason he was the last pick. He doesn’t have a great arm, isn’t a great athlete, and frankly he whiffs on a good number of open throws.
I think him having 4 of the best weapons in the game and playing under one of, if not the best offensive coaches in the game really elevates him.

To the doubters….when Jimmy G was QB Niners did not average 30 points a game for weeks. Purdy has great players around him……all great QBs did btw and he has a solid defense but not any QB can go in there and do what he is doing

Ya know what people dont realize is thst Purdy could have won the super bowl of he was allowed to run around and make plays if he played for the cheifs whos O line is so great they still have never even made a holding penalty in 3 super titles. My thoughts on Purdy could be summarized with the leaked story that Kyle and Lynch told Purdy in the offseason that they were going to try and lure Brady to the Niners but if that fell through he’s the starter. Are the comfortable even happy with Purdy as the starter? Absolutely. Do they know there are still better options out there? Absolutely.
And I know losing out to the GOAT really doesn’t say much. But let’s not act like they wouldn’t trade him out for any of the top tier QBs. He’s in the top of the middle tier. 13 feels perfect for him. This video did a really fair breakdown of him.

All people need to know is ALL other QBs not named Jimmy G were 9-29 under kyle shanny with these exact same players. If it was the "system" then these QBs wouldn't have been 9-29.
Oh and to top it off Purdy in his first full year as the 9ers starting QB he broke the franchise record for most passing yards in a single season. Folks... this includes the likes of Montana, Young, and Garicia.
Not to mention purdy was returning from a MAJOR injury and did not get an offseason to prepare.
This coming year with a full offseason to train and prepare I can only imagine how good he will be

Purdy has sub-par pass protection. Niner's OL is Trent Williams and 4 other guys. The stats rank the Niner's pass protection in the bottom 3rd of the league. You can't bring up "lots of weapons" without talking about that. He's NOT a game manager, that's just a dumb take.
Do elite QBs need to have all the weapons and a great O line? Can't have it all, especially when he is getting paid. Gonna have to elevate regardless of something if he is going to reach elite status.
@@LastSecondSports I'm pretty sure he did for 97% of the season. But at some point, the OLine needs to step up, and they completely folded in the Superbowl. And you can't blame that on Purdy. The fact that he led the 9ers to the SB with an OLine that was ranked 22nd to 27th is astounding in itself.

Yes and there’s nothing wrong with being a system qb look I’m not asking for much like a superbowl or mvps I know the limits of Brock and Kyle but going to the playoffs every year and keep sweeping the Seahawks well that sounds pretty good

When your "argument" against what you're seeing and processing is:
1. Essentially, you want him to get hit harder. With that offensive line, don't worry, you'll get your wish.
2. The standard #basic "he can't be good because some of his other players are good" rationalization. Yawn.
3. He forces too many throws that aren't there.. into completions? So don't throw guys open?
4. Uh, maybe it's play action. Expect if you simply look it up, you'll see that it isn't.
Also, his numbers were definitely not "MVP Caliber" for last season. For every other NFL season, absolutely - but it seriously didn't matter what his numbers were or what he did - these "objective analysts" weren't going to allow a player they're all on record trashing "win" MVP of the NFL. No way. So they gave it a QB farther down the list than ever before. Because who's going to call them out? Themselves? :)

It's so hard to place Purdy, and QBs like him that are efficient and effective at running an offense in time and on rhythm, in the macro of QBs
I feel quite confident that he's not in the realm of Allen, Mahomes, and Jackson - these total playmakers and game changers at the position that add command a ton of respect due to how much they can affect any play - usually through a combination of mobility and arm talent. Yet he's definitely more than a Lawrence or Prescott with how he's been managing the 49er offense and putting up solid numbers and performances, solid pocket and situational awareness, and a willingness to play the middle of the field.
Not a Game CHANGER, but more than a Game MANAGER. A top 10 QB in my eyes, that is absolutely worth keeping around if you're San Francisco, and hopefully can become a game changer of QB by perfecting the proficiency elements of the position.
Purdy has already won a championship game. In only his second season. First as a starter. Coming off major injury. Jackson and Allen haven't won shit.

I think anyone playing under shanahan can fall into the system qb it game manager label, which isn't a bad thing at all because you need someone who can run his system well. I sometimes feel like the wealth of weapons at his the 9ers disposal almost might make it more difficult to be just a standard system QB because the elevated star power of your surrounding cast causes people to raise their expectations for the qb as a whole.
I don't get it. Other quarterbacks have just as many stars around them or more.

@@DorkJelly The 49ers do not have all pros at all positions. They had one all pro on their offensive line. Their offensive line was one of the lowest rated at pass blocking, and they had some of the lowest rated offensive lineman.

The fact that you would say that he has yet to learn how to use his eyes to manipulate defenses tells me that maybe you haven't watched enough of this film. And if you have, then perhaps you're not analyzing it properly. If the fix to defending against Brock is as easy as you are implying, then how come more defenses haven't been doing it?
