- Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers’ 2021 season started off promising but quickly devolved into a compilation of lowlights.
Darnold’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys in week four perfectly encapsulates this tale of two quarterbacks.
In this video, we combine analysis of Darnold’s All-22 film and the narrative around him to determine when it all fell apart.

great work, looking forward to seeing your channel blow up
He’ll fit right in at Minnesota where highs and lows are the norm.
Them trading Dan Arnold and not even hoping to invest in the Offensive Line, plus having an awful coach, once the pressure came in complete droves, it broke him down, and the offensive line continued to decline afterward too, he was top 5 in most pressure taken by a QB after week 4. So his accuracy of course took that major hit, as his confidence in being able to stand in and deliver, followed the same trend.
Damn you give him every excuse possible. Maybe he just isn’t good.
@@mikeanthony8122 he showed he could’ve be, he isn’t, but he showed he could’ve been. No excuses, just an explanation of a clear correlation.
I thought trading Dan Arnold was a bad call.
@@jonathanritchie6880 coulda the amazing combo of Dan Arnold and Sam Darnold. what a name combo
I just found your channel, and I am really enjoying your videos. Your humor is funny, and it adds to the dissecting of a play. I appreciate the way you show the whole narrative behind what is happening in a single play. Your analyzation is also very good. And something else I appreciate is that your channel seems to be family friendly with no bad language or crude humor.
You earned a sub! Please keep it up.
Perhaps we could get a video on how the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in the Superbowl. Or why the Lions fell short of an NFC Championship win last year.
How tf u only have 200 subs? This is quality commentary and analysis. Keep it up
The RISE of Sam darnold has BEGUN
Great channel..great job..thanks very much..\m/
Darnold never looked the same after the first season he started at USC. He just seemed far more mentally tough then - the following season, he was erratic and turnover prone.
I, personally, don't think he ever completely shut out the outside noise and it got to him mentally.
I think he has a great arm and hes a good runner. His confidence just sucks. If he can get that back I bet he would be great
@@popjibbletz That TD throw he made in the Rose Bowl can only be made by a few QBs. I had him on the level of Luck as a prospect after that season - it was really disappointing the following season seeing how much he regressed and I was hoping it was just USC coaching.
He actually had fewer turnovers per game his second year at USC than the first. He played more games his second year, hence more turnovers as well. And how are you even going to compare college to the NFL? You guys like to use one or two games for your entire narrative. Look at him now.
@@popjibbletzHe finally got a decent O line and some help in the run game. Getting knocked on your ass and being expected to do to all, all game every game has a negative effect.
@@FirstLast-yc9lqIt was. Clay Helton, are you kidding me??? USC lost Adoree and Juju and both tackles you expected the same level of play. Clay Helton had never been a head coach anywhere and if you saw where they started and where they ended before and after Sam, you’d see that. Not to mention you’re comparing college to the NFL. And the JETS. They haven’t done anything in over 50 years and you want to blame Sam. Look at Zach Wilson right now. You have some weird bias against Jets quarterbacks once they leave as if who are with that team is who they actually are.
Great video. Interesting topic and great insight . Really good work
Darnold's problems have never been ability. It's mental, when his confidence his high he gets reckless and that confidence comes and goes after a single hit and then he "starts seeing ghosts"
This channel is gonna pop off dude. Good work.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, getting drafted by the Jets as a QB is a curse
The tall thick trunky coastal kid just didn't work out because of the places he went. I think he could've used another year but he was big hyped. Hindsight is always 20/20.
I think Darnold got a raw deal with coaching and offensive weapons for the Jets. Maybe he could have been solid but we will never know.
looks pretty solid now
I feel the Vikes Kwesi watched this yesterday. - up to the unraveling~
I'm curious why you forgot to mention that Christian McCafferty was out basically after game 3 the rest of the year and the offensive line was like a strainer letting the defense come through little Minor Detail you overlooked in your assessment
Because it doesn’t match with the narrative he’s trying to push out
His career unraveled when he was drafted by the Jets.
Would love to hear an update now! 🤣
He's doing fantastic
If I was a quarterback … I would never leave college
the randy Gregory highlight. as a cowboys fan I was pissed and scratching my head thinking how could you let Gregory go to Denver. but that's why we're fans and not scouts. dorance Armstrong has been FAR more productive and disruptive than Randy. not to mention Randy was always hurt and got hurt bad in Denver. JJ saved himself 70 million dollars. in which 30 million was guaranteed and I'm sure the signing bonus was probably 10 million.
Sam Darnold’s career unraveled the moment he was drafted by the Jets.
lol, true.
the moment they hired Adam Gase
@@carybird24 And the moment he saw ghosts XD
Congratulations Sam
I was completely put off by how you hang the failures of two miserables teams on his shoulders. That you have an axe to grind is pretty evident by not mentioning that McCaffrey went down after three games, and took the future of that team with him. The Jets history was even more pathetic, with 2 season of a Dowell Loggains offense (who? Exactly), slowly being dismantled by Douglas so he could purge the horrendous Adam Gase. But all’s fair, as is watching you self-immolate on your failed predictions for his future. By any chance, were you part of the Zack Wilson scout team?
4:14 😂😂
It went all downwards in Carolina when they broke the jinx and traded Dan Arnold to the Jags. Sam Darnold to Dan Arnold worked so well and they just ruined it.
Darnold will have a new beginning .
.like Mayfield..or J Goff..team chemistry coaching ,play calling being surrounded by talent will make.all the difference ..AT 26, HE IS on his way up...high ceiling for sam in MINNESOTA ❤
.
After a year with Shannahan and his staff and getting a break from the pressure and scrutiny of trying to save below mid teams and coaches I think sam will surprise alot of people with koc and minnesotas weapons enough that he'll be a starting qb somewhere in 2025 with a decent multi year deal
were going to hang on to him i hope . hes a great guy and i think he still will improve . we really like him in MN
First NFL throw was a pick 6. That's all you need to know. USC QBs always are busts except Carson Palmer
Great video
Sammy D, the original Zach Wilson. Why can't the jets ever draft a good QB ffs
Sam Darnold has been decent when he's healthy imo. He's much better than Baker Mayfield. I don't ever think he'll be a super star, but he could be a good starting QB. I mean everyone had already given up on Geno, and look what he's doing this year.
you were mostly on the money , even about how his future after carolina would go . but , to sams credit hes still fighting and looking good going into week 18 with a 14-2 record about to play for the number one seed and home field throughout the play offs . SKOL . [oh by the way its 2024 .
they played 3 dud teams with no defenses. then they played Dallas with a solid defense and got exposed bad
Umm…about your take on Baker and Corral….lol
Hey, to be fair, they did start Baker... it just went horribly wrong lol
@@footballdoesntmatter lmao touche
panthers (Jeremy chin) did get a pivotal turnoff on a fumble/strip that was clear cut a good play and the refs gave the ball back to dallas (classic, big market team getting help from the refs) in this game...
Darnold is set to start I'm pretty sure, which I think this will happen --- Good Game ---> Guy for Panthers? -----> Play like Trash ----> New Team ----> Repeat
If he has a good showing against the Broncos, he's gonna have another shot in the league. This week is HUGE for him.
ah the Ryan Fitzpatrick route
@@footballdoesntmatter He did good vs the Broncos, and his career is revived, wait till next week.
@@ShudowWolf Yea, but I have a feeling Sam Darnold will be known as a bust forever, instead of a really good backup QB, which is a problem, but hopefully he can revive his career like Drew Brees did after the Chargers.
Did he even have a career to unravel?
Lol jets have Streveler don't use him too funny
He reminds me of cousins
Gonna be especially weird to see him in a Vikings jersey next year because of that
That didn't age well
When was he ever good nub?
He's just a bad player. Great vid mate
For whatever reason, I have a soft spot for him. But yeah, not good hahah
Appreciate it!
@@footballdoesntmatter that’s the perfect way to put it
Darnold was ruined in New York. Gase had no idea what he was doing, and the poor kid has PTSD from running for his life. He'll be seeing ghosts wherever he goes.
BS you can’t blame the Jets for what he did in Carolina he sucks
12:24 HOLY CRAP as of right now you're a prophet.
This didn't age well, did it?
USC quarterbacks being trash? Color me surprised. Not.
