It's just amazing to hear about Kevin again. I still watch the old videos where he played for misery index and chimaira, awesome playing, man. Thanks Rob for making these videos. Great to hear the details on what you guys did together and have hope you can record some new tunes!!
You know when they say the name of a movie in a movie and you are like "eh eh I heard that". I totally did that when Kevin said Everything You Love. Totally underrated Chimaira tune by the way.
Everything You Love is by far one of my favorites to play.... especially when you get to the really heavy PM'd bridge riff just before Rob goes off on that solo. Such a tasteful way of using his wah pedal :D
I really enjoyed this one.. I feel like Jim should have his own off shoot barber shop show. Love hearing you guys tell stories from the Chimaira years.
Keep em coming, man. Every episode is awesome. Chimaira is still my favorite metal band going on 19 years now. I Saw you guys with Talley at Bogart's in Cincinnati with Six Feet Under back in 05. Still put it up there as one of my favorite shows of all time. \m/
I saw this same tour at the living room in rhode island. I remember seeing the famous Kevin Talley on his laptop at the Dunkin’ Donuts across the street and me and my buddy mike were freaking out.
I had this album cover tattooed on my back in 2007. Still my favourite album of all time and I still thrash it. As a drummer I was blown away when this came out.
Rob, loving this insight to the past of the Chimaria world and history. Glad to see you Marc and Jim are still in touch. Keep cranking these videos out!
My band No Class Assassins did a cover of "COCAINE", with Kevin Talley on drums. He def was creative in his approach to coloring up the song & filling in the gaps. Very easy going person to talk with. Was also very happy with the end results of the song :)
Thank you Rob for another episode ✌Kevin Talley is so sick drummer CHIMAIRA album is so brilliant Thank you guys for beautiful music 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘Marry Christmas 😋😋😋😋
I always thought it was really cool that the old Dying Fetus drummer joined Chimaira, and then 3/5 of the self-titled line-up infiltrated Six Feet Under. Legendary tales in the history of metal.
Loved this one, man. I remember Talley joining right before the Road Rage Tour co-headlining with Machine Head. He was my favorite live Chimaira drummer - it was refreshing how he played in the pocket and brought the groove back. Good times, Sk-Rob!
Thanks Mike! It was only recently that I realized Kev was on that RoadRage tour.... I don't know if you saw episode 04, where Mark and I discussed Machine Head, but in the actual tour book, it had Ricky listed as the drummer. So I was wrong! Good times though!
@@RobArnoldWorld Haven't had a chance to see all of them yet but will definitely check out ep. 4 next. Btw, stoked that the Mexico City Hard Rock show is still a stand-out for you guys. I remember it clearly as the most crushing show I witnessed while out with you guys \m/
Kevin is a beast and one of the nicest dudes! I got to open for him with DAATH in Nashville one night and they were incredibly sick performers as well as the most genuinely kind people.
...so I'm driving back home from a cool live show, it's 4am, I must say I'm half drunk, and the radio is playing that absolute masterpiece that is Destroy and dominate, and I think to myself... I can't wait for everything you love episode 10! Come on bro!
I just listened to the Self Titled this week and this showed up in my feed! I remember buying Kevin jamming with bands DVD's from him while he was touring with Daath. Super nice guy and great to see his Hyper personality has not slowed down.
This was so good to watch. I flew Kevin over to the UK to record with my band at the time back in 2015, he has so much energy and enthusiasm it's just infectious. Before he came over, he demo'd the whole album just to work on the 'drums programmed by a guitarist' thing and then we worked through it all. You posted a joke online at the time because we only had the budget to fly him coach, and all the internet pitchforks came out from fans :)
Loved this! As a drummer there was so much to be learned from this. The first thing that stuck out to me about the self titled Chimaira record was the drums. Kevin DESTROYED on that record. Definitely an under appreciated record. Can’t wait for more episodes!
Man watching this video brought back some great memories. We came to see you guys on one of your UK shows years ago. After the show we stuck around and we met you all. Kevin even sold me a copy of the dvd of him jamming with Slayer! Good times!
I totally agree with the perspective about musicians actually jamming together and how detrimental it can be for guitarist to program and write drum parts and vice versa. That's actually a big reason why I ended up leaving my last band. The irony is they called up Kevin Talley, one of my drum heroes, and hired him to do the record. Which made me super happy. I knew they wanted to go in a much more death metal direction and they got the right guy to do it. It's just super funny how it happened!
Hey Rob - keep these videos coming man! I’ve been a huge Chimaira fan since high school when Pass Out of Existence released. It’s really cool to see all of this material and how things came together for you guys. I’ve been resurrecting (no pun intended) all of the Chimaira albums recently and I must say that the self titled album definitely had a groove to it that separates it from the others - and the solos on that record are excellent. Keep rockin’!
Please make a playthrough video of Everything You Love. That song has one of the best grooves. And the solo is killer. Keep up the good work man. Love the channel.
Wook introduced me to This Present Darkness back in the day. Still listening! So next year marks the 20th anniversary of you guys doing Farmclub. That makes me feel old...
"Impossibility Of Reason", the version with ARMY OF ME on it is my favorite CHIMAIRA album and in my top 10 albums of all-time. Every album is killer from CHIMAIRA. The Impossibility Of Reason is just perfect in my opinion from start to finish. Also LEFT FOR DEAD from the Self-Titled is one of my favorite CHIMAIRA songs that I play over and over. Seen you guys about 30+ times in philly and jersey, sometimes 3 shows in a few days from The Trocadero in philly to the Crocodile Rock in Allentown to The Starland Ballroom in Jersey, good times.
I saw Chimera at Starland Ballroom with children of bodom in North Jersey. Sayervill. I'm from Philly. And I remember the TLA show with machine head when they did the entire burn my eyes album. It was amazing
9 already? I agree man, self titled has to be my favorite. So many memories. I believe my first Chimaira show was Chimaira Christmas when that album came out. I remember watching you guys play salvation which was my favorite at the time. So good
It's really cool seeing you still active man, you are a huge idol of mine. One thing I always remember was I bought that Chimaira DVD and in one part of it you are saying to Andols basically 'everyone is doing this and that going into this last chorus, what are YOU going to do to really step it up like this is the last one' and that really stuck with me and I always think about it when trying to write songs. Stay sick dude, subbed!
I like how Kevin was like "I can double bass your face off but let's hit the groove the fans love" in a sense he's always been a great drummer and I think at times been misrepresented but overall anyone one who's needed him in a pinch can't speak highly enough of him.

@@RobArnoldWorld So cool to see your comment!!! It would be really neat to hear about The Infection. That album was incredible and to this day, one I still go back to🤘The Heart of It All 🤘 got me through some interesting times!
Oh wow, I was at that Mexico City show! I can't believe you guys talked about it for a bit and even remembered the venue's name! I got a few pictures from that meet and greet, amazing show! Saw Chimaira the 3 times you came to Mexico, last one was crown of phantoms Chimaira, so no Rob :( , but still awesome all 3 times!
Saw you guys in Cardiff, South Wales in 2005. We turned up early to meet you guys and we caught Kevin coming off the tour bus he stuck around to chat with us was super cool. He then goes "I dont know if im supposed to do this but i have this drum instuction dvd iif you guys want to buy a copy" haha i got one and it was awesome! Sadly lent it out and never got it back but would love to watch that again.
I’ve always admired Kevin Talleys abilities, and I seriously love all my chimaira cds and I own every hard physical copy I’ve cherished them for years! But the self titled is my personal favorite as well. It’s dark it’s ferocious. It’s anger focused and aggressive in the form a metal done right! Nothing remains is a personal favorite! But it seriously goes much deeper then that. Marks lyrics just seriously hit the point so well u guys literally saved me in 2005, 2006 time period. I was in such a dark place I didn’t think I could get any lower or be more destroyed inside. I’d lost my mother, my girlfriend and just felt like my world was crumbling. But the music u guys wrote and that particular album and that song nothing remains just seriously pulled me out of the rut little by little that song and those songs just helped me let go of so many emotions and gave me the feeling of inner strength and helped me deal with the pain and push through. Without writing a sappy novel on here, I just wanted u guys to know ur music really has a profound impact. Chimaira music is timeless!!!!!!
Another fantastic episode Rob! I really like seeing these ones with band mates it’s pretty awesome to hear their stories as well! Stoked to hear the rest of that swamp thing demo! +1 for honey butter chicken biscuit 😂
thanks for this episode man. I love Talley's drum work on the self titled; remember seeing you guys in Antwerp that tour (with Dark Tranquillity as support) - I think it was the best Chimaira show I ever saw!
This was a great video. Kevin has really infectious enthusiasm. The clip you previewed sounds awesome! I hope you continue to do the Jim clips at the end of your videos. It's just a great way to end them :D
I remember when I heard he was playing on a chimaira record back on the day, I loved his playing with dying fetus, that picalo snare lol. Cool vid. Thanks rob.
First off great episode Rob. It's nice to know who played drums on the self titled album. After watching this I played the self titled and you sure can hear how Kev's drums beats are a lot different from Andols on the album before and how his timing is so what was needed for the songs on this album. For me just being a fan it's nice to know who it was that and also to get to hear from Kev. And yes you both should do something together in the near future. Just to finish off should you not put out another episode of "Everything you love" this year, then Happy Christmas and Happy new year to you and your family.
Aww, I fuckin love Jimmy! I think I still have my "Jim F*ckin Lamarca t-shirt from SOTU 2005 haha! Nice to see Kev on the episode too, always happy and smiley... I miss all you dudes! I got a new number, gonna hit you up with it. Cheers, Rob!! -Todd (Beef)
I met Kev a couple times, he's such a great dude. 05' Chimaira owns and Kevs contribution to self titled is pretty underrated I'd say. Even hearing him explain tempo's etc. The groove is HARD on that record. This was great and the world needs more RA/KT!- Any unreleased demo's kicking about for self titled, Rob?
Is it possible I witnessed Chimaira with Talley on drums during the 2006 EU run of Sounds Of The Underground; the one where Mark H. had this crazy epic moustache ?? :D Also, I also love SFU's Undead, it's like a complete fresh start and it definitely was composed way more interesting than what came before (Commandment and Death Rituals, it's not that they're bad, but they needed a little bit more interesting twists and turns). And damn, Undead sure delivered !
I havent been able to find it anywhere now, but I remember watching a DVD back around the Self-title days where Rob comes up with the Resurrection riff on the bus. Rob wasnt playing it with an amp, just one of his ESPs on the bus to Matt, but you can hear the Resurrection main verse riff being written :D It didnt click for me until i herd the riff when you all went into record Resurrection, i was like... "Why do I recognize that riff right there?" lol
You should do something like this with Andols. I love Kevin Talley’s drumming, his work with DAATH was insane, I’m gonna go listen to the Self Titled album again, then listen to The Six feet under Album.
Saw both of you guys on Summer Slaughter 2011 in Atlanta when you were with Six Feet Under ( DeVries too). I swore I saw you and Talley arguing before the set. But the set was fucking GREAT! Y'all opened with Stripped, Raped, and Strangled...

Thx Justin!🤘
Talley is nuts! Good energy outta that guy😂
I agree!
Heroes
👊
I remember when I heard he was playing on a chimaira record back on the day, I loved his playing with dying fetus, that picalo snare lol. Cool vid. Thanks rob.
Right on John!🤘
Well, I know what I’m doing for breakfast tomorrow. Thanks Kevin Talley. Also didn’t know he was living back in San Antonio. Interesting to know.
🤘
First off great episode Rob. It's nice to know who played drums on the self titled album. After watching this I played the self titled and you sure can hear how Kev's drums beats are a lot different from Andols on the album before and how his timing is so what was needed for the songs on this album. For me just being a fan it's nice to know who it was that and also to get to hear from Kev. And yes you both should do something together in the near future. Just to finish off should you not put out another episode of "Everything you love" this year, then Happy Christmas and Happy new year to you and your family.
Right on Darren!🤘 Happy Holidays to you as well bro.
Thank you Rob
25:27 Oh it will be awesome Rob
🤣🤘
Aww, I fuckin love Jimmy! I think I still have my "Jim F*ckin Lamarca t-shirt from SOTU 2005 haha!
Nice to see Kev on the episode too, always happy and smiley... I miss all you dudes!
I got a new number, gonna hit you up with it. Cheers, Rob!!
-Todd (Beef)
That was such a great shirt!🤘
both of you need to start a new band together
👌
Naaaaah. They need to reform Chimaira with Kevin, since Andols is sick.
@@drewcadaver We'll see what happens!
Let’s jam!!!
Glad you dug it!! Hmmmm, I don't think there is any unreleased stuff from S/T era unfortunately.
That wretchedpain record he did with Sam Bean of the berzeker/werewolves/antichrist imperium/the senseless is so underrated, but amazing.
I'm sure it's possible! And so glad to hear you dig UNDEAD!🤘
Nice!🤘
Saw both of you guys on Summer Slaughter 2011 in Atlanta when you were with Six Feet Under ( DeVries too). I swore I saw you and Talley arguing before the set. But the set was fucking GREAT! Y'all opened with Stripped, Raped, and Strangled...
Haha sweet!🤘
The KevRob Duo Band 2020 !
Help us think of a better name though! 🤣
