    Given how technically inferior the SNES is to the arcade, it's amazing how accurate the SNES port is.

    One of the best ports of an arcade game ever made for the SNES. People today don't understand how ahead of its time Killer Instinct was it's release into Arcades. There was nothing like graphics and sound wise.

      Really? It’s pretty accurate, especially in terms of gameplay. It’s really just lacking a few animations and 3-d effects. It played very similarly though.

    I remember as a 9 year old kid playing in the arcade with awe playing KI1 and seeing that Ultra 64 logo. It was an exciting time for gaming. I remember getting SNES and being bummed that the levels werent in 3D but I loved it and played the shit out of it still. It was all about how to bring the arcade experience home back then.

      Well, I didn't knew why it wasn't so impressive on my Snes compared to arcade.
      On arcade, it seemed like you could fight in a corner or at the edge of the arena, and I wondered why on Snes I couldn't.
      Cause it was semi 3D, something the Snes never could handle.

      FX chip produced full games. Even added to titles like Yoshis island. It’s a crime they didn’t use it here and they avoided even using Mode 7 which is Abundant in most snes games

    • @davezanko9051
      @davezanko9051 Год назад +2

      @@thomasbeall9069 The Super FX could handle non-textured flat shaded polygons, and only a few of them relatively speaking. And with Mode 7 they could have made the floor rotate, but then the rest of the background becomes a fixed image on the horizon. Neither would have made it more like the arcade.

      Blank Blank - I mean, it might have allowed some 3D elements on the stages, but the main limitation was the limited storage space on cartridges. The arcade version used a dedicated hard-drive for game data, even with compression there's really no realistic way the SNES could have ever come close graphically/audio-wise given the comparatively miniscule storage available on cartridges (The MAME hard-drive image for Killer Instinct is just under 100 MB, your average SNES cart was 1-2 Megs, 4 to maybe 6 for the largest capacity carts)

    • @thomasbeall9069
      @thomasbeall9069 3 года назад

      Same can be said for any arcade port. Yet MK2 was amazing. They rushed KI, they needed it out and weren’t going to help the game with FX like they should have. Even then we knew it wouldn’t be arcade quality but it appears to be something more of a Gameboy color looking game than a solid port to snes.

    The SNES version plays faithfully, and it's a good port for the hardware, but graphically it's not even close. My biggest problem with the SNES version is just how much animation is missing, and how badly it shows up in some characters win poses, idle poses, etc. I guess they couldn't do much more with the cart sizes of the time though unless they went with a decompression chip like Street Fighter Alpha 2.
    Kinda wish that they had done an N64 port.

    Killer Instinct 1 for the Super Nintendo is a very kick ass game.
    It would be nice if you could play the Arcade version on maybe a newer console (Xbox-One would most likely be the only 1 to get it) as I've never played it.
    Killer Instinct is an awesome fighting game franchise (2nd favorite, but not too far) behind Mortal Kombat & I do very much welcome the idea of a crossover between the 2 (even if I'd have to get an Xbox-One to play it).
    Also, these are very good comparison videos.

Então só hoje vi que a versão com a música bem trabalhada saiu para o arcade. Fora que o arcade tem mais detalhes no cenário e nos personagens. Arcade was easily better than the SNES version. The projectile special effects were much better on the arcade, the rotate-able characters in the select screen, better sound and music, everything. Also the arcade version had 3d backgrounds. The SNES version had 2d backgrounds. When you finish the enemy by knocking off them off the building root-top in the arcade version, you had a real cutscene where the SNES version is just a 2D sprite falling down.

    A versão arcade é melhor graficamente. Animações, sprites, rotação. Mas há a ressalva sobre o cenário de fundo do Jago ser melhor no SNES. As músicas no SNES também são muito boas, o que faltou foi estarem em 44,1 KHZ. A música do Riptor eu acho mais sombria no SNES. Se o cartucho tivesse uns 48 Megas com chip auxiliar, seria bem próximo. Aliás, o SNES foi mais fiel ao Arcade no 1 (dado a limitação de 16 bits) do que o N64 no 2.

    Eu não entendo algumas pessoas dizerem que a versão do SNES ficou ruim, claro que há perdas, mas a essência do jogo está aí com gráficos, sons e principalmente jogabilidade que não compromete.

    • @fernandojronline
      @fernandojronline 8 лет назад +1

      penso o mesmo... nao ficou ruim. É logico que, ao portal um jogo de um arcade 64bit, para um console 16bit teriam que limar algo.
      O jogo no SNES é muito divertido e tem um dos cartuchos mais bonitos, só perdendo para o cartucho vermelho do Doom

    Só de pensar que esse jogo era pra tere sido lançado para o ''Ultra64/N64'' e não para o SNES já é de ficar surpreso, o Arcade desse jogo era superior a qualquer console da Quinta geração ( PS1/N64/Saturn/Jaguar ) portar para um SNES foi praticamente um milagre xD considerando as limitações do console, o jogo ficou ótimo nele.

    Aquele momento que você para e se lembra que a maquina de Arcade do Killer Instinct trabalhava com um sistema de 64 Bits, tanto que até mesmo o Killer Instinct 2 teve downgrade no Nintendo 64 ( as maquinas eram mais poderosas que qualquer console daquela geração ) mas mesmo assim... eles conseguiram enfiar o Killer Instinct no SNES um sistema de 16 Bits o.O
    Sério, jogos como esse são a prova de quê Hardware não é um problema tão grande assim como muitos pensam, basta ter dinheiro em mãos, outros exemplos mais atuais é o Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 do Wii ( compare o requisito minimo do PC com o Hardware do Wii, a diferença é gritante, mas ainda assim é exatamente o mesmo jogo só com diferenças gráficas, ou até o cancelado Resident Evil para GameBoy, tudo da versão do PS1 estava lá ! um jogo de 32 Bits em um portatil de 8 Bits !!! )

    It was like bringing a knife to a gun fight. The SNES version would never be able to be close to being on par with the Arcade. It should have though included a 6MB cart to include higher quality sounds and more frames of animation. I remember being so incredibly disappointed by the downgrade. It was in serious demake territory.

    While the SNES version is a port, the gameplay was touched up nicely. There's also less glitches compared to the Arcade version. Interesting thing too about the Game Boy version is that it had a few small details from the Arcade version that the SNES did not.

    even though the snes version is technically inferior, something about it i just enjoy better, the only thing i can point out as a definitive reason is on the arcade version, when jago backflips it looks super smooth, but some of his other animations look choppy by comparison, whereas on the snes version its all uniform

    I honestly prefer the console versions of both KI1 & KI2. The arcade versions were just lacking so much, since they didn't have as many modes (which is understandable since it's an arcade machine) and you couldn't even play as the boss characters. And before any of you comment on this, I don't care about graphics. In a fighting game, the only thing that matters to me is the fighting.

    It is an excellent port for Snes with only 32Mb, the cartridge could have had more capacity like Tales of Phantasia or Star Ocean with 48Mb and used it to improve the animation of the characters or something else. And if the Nintendo 64 had been released with a CDrom, Ki 1 and 2 would have been an exact copy of the arcade, remember that the arcade used a hard drive with 500MB, somewhat smaller than the capacity of a CDrom. That space was needed more than anything for scenarios, which were practically an interactive video.
