Thanks for checking out this review/comparison! I hope it's not too nerdy or deep haha! If you're watching this premier, hang out after for a live stream with a Q&A and some gameplay!
And old associate of mind went to a video game tournament with me. Later that day he called me a nerd😲. Didn't know why I took offense to that but I now accept it lol. I appreciated your insight.
Thank you for the honest review. Too many times I see these arcade1up machines get positive reviews and while they aren't bad, they always fall short of a clean conversion. Great to hear from someone who knows all about KI.
I'm glad you mentioned the missing ultra 64 in the intro its so iconic. I know for legal reasons they couldn't put it in but it takes away a lot from the experience
You have played more killer instinct in 1 livestream than I have my whole entire life, and I'm 52. BTW, I worked in the arcades when KI was new and delivered day 1. I was more a street fighter fan; we were so good that we knew every correct punch and kick button to counter every jump towards us, button press recation, and special. Other players hated our guts for that, but like you, we were true nerds as well. Very enjoyable video. Thanks for making it
Hahah, I was never a Street Fighter guy. I’ve heard from a few people that say they played SF primarily and can’t get into KI. I’m someone who can’t get into SF. Do you still play Street Fighter?
Love your channel, love your reviews, you introduction into how u got into KI is just like mine. Was amazed when I first seen it back in 94, has been my all time favorite ever since, when I found MAME I also taught myself how to use it and was amazed to play the arcade version at home. Love your content!
Thank you! I think KI really shocked a lot of young people back then. It still looks good enough to be a recent indie-style release. MAME was a life saver for me. I thought I'd never get to play it again. Arcade1Up allowed me to make my own KI and now they made this one which lets me play KI online lol. Thanks again!
Awesome review Chris! Hopefully the guys from arcade1up take note of this and make some adjustments to the KI pro line edition before release. just hope the price is reasonable lol
Thanks Adam! I do need to make an updated review. Code Mystics has fixed just about everything I found that was wrong and even added more online features recently. Its turning out to be one of the best Arcade1Up releases.
Those nerd out sections and side by side comparisons are truly important for someone like me. I've been on the fence about buying KI since day one, I almost bought it as my first cab over BB. However, the negative outputs were very concerning when it was a $800 cab. Now its on sale, updates to issues in this video have been applied, and your video makes me want to go ahead and get the cab.
The good news is most of the things I complained about in the video are now fixed! Code Mystics has lessened the input lag and fixed the bridge corner glitches. It’s well worth $399 in my opinion.
@@KillerArcadeGames This cab has become a new edition. Thanks again for your video. I was actually impressed how well it synced up with mame. Especially the edited intro which i think CM made a very impressive nintendo replica replacement. How is the online activity? Live and active, or dead or hit/miss?
The online activity is all over the place, sometimes its dead and sometimes its pretty solid. I typically won't see more than 3 people visible to play against at once. Nights and weekends are always the best time to find someone. Now that its on sale, I'm sure we'll see a spike in people online.
I can explain why you have noticeable input lag, which is one of the biggest challenges with software emulation. I'm into emulators myself and now have experience in this matter. One of the biggest issues effecting lag are LCD displays. Traditionally, LCD has been a very laggy technology compared to CRT. Because the liquid crystals have to physically move to change pixel color, they are slow by nature. Only in the last few years has LCD technology gotten advanced enough to finally switch as fast as CRTs. If you shop for "gaming monitors" you'll see the best ones advertise very fast response times, and very high refresh rates ( 144, 165, 240, 360 hz ). While this is a big improvement it's still not quite enough. Another problem is the lag that happens when a game has to pause to synchronize with the display. This is what "vsync" does. The problem is that process creates huge amounts of lag. But that has been solved too with the features known as "Freesync" and "G-Sync" ( also known as adaptive sync ). Gsync reverses the traditional roles played by monitors and emulators. Instead of the emulator syncing itself to the screen, the screen syncs its refreshes to the emulator or game. I can't stress enough how powerful and awesome this technology is, it's a total game-changer for gaming of all kinds! With a G-Sync enabled monitor, you can then turn vsync OFF in games or emulators. The game can then run at full speed without ever pausing to sync with the screen which is far more natural. Also the emulator can run at whatever refresh rate it wants, and it doesn't matter because the monitor syncs to match it. Many arcade games run at odd refresh rates like 54, 55, 57, 59, etc.. So when you have a GOOD gaming monitor with high refresh rates, fast response times and G-Sync, what you get is an AMAZINGINGLY low input lag that puts it on par with CRTs, and can even surpass it. I just bought two new gaming monitors myself ( GOOD ones ) and have tested it in tons of PC games, and MAME games. I've really been blown away with how good it is. It even beats CRTs for PC gaming since these screens go run at far higher refresh rates than CRTs ever could. Keep in mind tho that good monitors are not cheap, The ones I bought cost about $430 a piece. The fact that Arcade1Up's game has input lag means they either went cheap on the screens they use, or they don't know what they're doing, I'm sorry to say.
Very good info! Arcade1Up won’t be using monitors that expensive 😂. I never thought I’d miss the old CRT technology so much. I don’t want to watch TV on it but for these old games, it’s sorely missed.
Great detailed explanation. Makes total sense. I knew there was a difference from arcade games than at home play. I always dreamed that I would buy all the arcade cabinets my heart desired. But my finances didn't allow it.
@@KillerArcadeGames Then it would be interesting to do the same test using a CRT at mame (versus original arcade). Then another test, mame crt versus mame lcd.
Absolutely killer review Chris, no pun intended. You covered little details everyone else missed.I definitely agree that the highlight of the cabinet is the on line play. I'm seriously considering picking up a MK 30th anniversary specifically for the on line play. Something that's been missed since the old arcade days. One comment I will make regarding the input lag and this is just my opinion with no actual facts to back it up, may be due to the LCD. Using an arcade CRT, carries no lag. Will be interesting comparing the game through Mame on a CRT vs LCD for comparison. Thank you for sharing!
Haha thanks! The online play on these cabs are what’s going to be one A1U’s biggest selling point. It’s possible it’s the LCD causing the lag, my MAME is lagging too but not as bad. But, one thought on that, the audio associated with the moves is also behind. So maybe it is just their hardware or the software.
@@KillerArcadeGames I reached out to Mame Developers on this and they are attributing the problem to the software decrypting the data quicker that the real hardware hard drive would on the actual machine, so as you suggested, the audio lags slightly behind. This can be fixed but it requires someone with a real machine to record some samples etc. I can email you the web page if you wish to give it a read if it interests you. Ironically though, version 0.150 is perfect, but because I need to run Groovy Mame for my CRT, there is no older version I can use and therefore I need to live with the slight audio stutter. Drives me crazy but that's all that's available until the issue is resolved in a newer version.
Dude, you're the guy that started KIOnline? That's crazy. I definitely remember that site. I was in the same boat. KI was and still is my favorite game, but it seemed like the rest of the world didn't really care about it, so that was really cool finding other fans of the game. Also, the XBOX ONE version of KI1 also has the corner glitch. I remember specifically reporting it to them when it first released and their official response was that it was a "proper emulation of a glitch that was in the arcade..." I'm like, I literally have the original hardware, you're wrong. At least now, 10 years later, they're believing you guys and finally fixing it for 1up. Anyway, great video!
I am that guy! Your name looks familiar, would you have used that user name on the site? I'm glad they were so open to listen and fix all of it. They got it done fairly quickly too.
Good review! Nice info. A lil overly picky about button colors and things but still a great review. I will be picking this one up soon. I have had a couple real ki’s over the years and always sold them when the prices got high. Nice job bro
Thanks! I always feel obligated to mention that they did fix the issues I had in this review. Glitches have been fixed, input has been reduced and the emulation is pretty great now.
I loved your video, ive been a fan of KI sicne it came out way back in the 90s it was my FAVORITE fighting game next to Mortal kombat. I loved all the nerdy info you gave about the arcade version plus all the other stuff i did not know. When i found out about Mame i felt the same way you did! Also at the end bout the bolts in the monitor thing that was awesome!!! Great video!! i am very tempted to get the 1uparcade macine, but may possibly wait till the pro series.
Thanks Michael! I was a huge MK1 and 2 fan at the time, then this got placed right across from them and I was absolutely blown away by it. MK is still a great series but my god, this game is so captivating.
A ton of love went into this video. Thanks a TON for uploading. On the fence regarding the new MVC2 and wanted to know more about the sizing differences and buttons. Thanks for uploading!
Thanks for the comment. It took probably 30 hours to make this one. It was worth it though. Also, if you're worried about the input lag, they've released an update to fix it. It made it to where I could do the Orchid combo I was trying to do on this video. They also fixed the bridge glitch.
Wow Chris, I've been a huge fan forever and I'm just watching this. I had no idea you made that website, I used it as a kid for so long (thanks for helping me play it on mame ;) Wild. As always, love your content and I appreciate you
Great review man love this game. I’m finally going to assemble mine as I’ve been having shipping issues. My first cabinet arrived broken and the second one was “LOST” with FedEx. Till I finally last night. On my way home to assemble it now. Hopefully this one is in one piece. Hope I can catch you on a stream and play against you online!
Exactly correct on the replacement stick and button replacement issue. I'm am 100÷ in agreement with having to replace these things if you are a serious player.
Since I’m gonna get an Arcade1Up soon Living In Europe, because thanks to your Videos,I know how to make bigger combo!I cant wait to have it in my living room! 👍
Nice thorough review. I really wish arcade1up would have sent you a cab to test for them you know the game more than most and I haven’t seen anyone else find the glitches you did or be as thorough but they did a good job doesn’t look like there were too many problems . I like where arcade1up is going with their new cabs slowly making them more and more legit with slightly bigger sizes and slanted bigger screens and control panel etc but to me theylle always be an item that needs upgrading and I’m fine with that as long as they get everything else right which they are in the right direction now. Some peeves about this cab to me is the non slanted panel and the marquee has no bezel and the I like the extra height but hate that it’s an added panel must have been an afterthought but that would bug me and I am willing to garauntee that this was made around the same time as the 30th anniversary mk cab which has all my gripes fixed and the pro cab which has more upgrades but still I’m optimistic
Thanks Frank! I offered my help but didn’t get any replies back then. I am starting to really like the slanted monitor. I just played some of the new KI and turned around to play my modded KI and really noticed the non slanted monitor lol.
Hahah I still don't know how I got to this level of crazy for this game. Theres very few things I'll obsess over like this. I don't care much at all about Star Wars or the normal franchises people get crazy over. I know a ton about Killer Instinct and Breaking Bad and that's about it!
great Job Chris! I would hope you could get your hands on a pro model when it comes out. I know its highly unlikely but if you did that would be damn cool to see all the versions next to each other!
Thanks Sean. I’d like to check one out but I won’t be buying one, that’s for sure lol. I’m broke after buying a real KI and the 1Up. Not to mention all of the replacement parts for the real KI LOL!
This review couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I just bought a cabinet from Game Room Solutions, and this was the one and only emulation I asked about. Clearly a raspberry pi 4 won't cut it so I can play KI, so I've already made plans to upgrade to PC internals... I need KI in my life, again.
I've found an old AMD 4200 Dual Core with 2GB of RAM was enough to run KI smoothly on MAME .139. Theres a PC on eBay thats a used office PC that runs them all just fine for about $100.
I put Happs in mine. I also put a sheet of white paper behind the marquee art to keep it from being too blown out. I also added a subwoofer and changed out the speakers. Overall I'm mostly bummed about the attract mode being trash in comparison and the size of the deck being very cramped for 2 players. But owning my favorite arcade game ever is a great feeling!
The white sheet of paper is genius! I might do that since I refuse to pay for a replacement on an already expensive cab. Especially when I have the real cabinet. How are the Happs? Do you notice a big difference?
@@KillerArcadeGames I feel like the defaults are REALLY 'mushy'. This is my only Arcade1Up, so I can't compare it to anything other than my fave cabs growing up which were KI and MK2. I'm able to pull off ultras and breakers with the happ stick pretty smoothly, and the buttons have that tactile feel that I'm used to. It was a pain in the neck to cut the happ sticks to fit in there, and the plastic housing on the underside of the deck that covers the wires and everything won't really fit back on without cutting even MORE off of the happ stick base. I'm happy with the upgrade, but if you have the real deal, I don't know if it's super worth it although the online aspect definitely warrants having the best sticks.
Excellent video review. Love it. You think it's worth waiting for the pro version? I agree with you, I would have love if they left the ultra 64 intro. Its the best original intro I've seen. Thank you !!!
If you’re okay with waiting, I’d at least wait and see more details on it. The Happ pre installed is a massive bonus and the larger screen is nice. But I’d expect at least $1000 for it. Let’s hope the marquee is better and maybe better audio out of the box.
@@KillerArcadeGames don’t forget WIDER too…this is a no-brained for true KI FANS…either get the original cab or get the PRO…anything else and you ain’t a true KI FAN…
To deal with the input difference, I have to take advantage of the large buffer window in KI. So for example when doing combos, I hold the last direction of an input during combos when pressing the attack button needed. Helped a lot with not dropping combos.
I'm hesitant to get too used to the Arcade1Up lag since it makes playing on my real cabinet difficult to adjust to. But that's a good tip, get ahead of the lag. Re-training my hands and brain constantly are annoying lol.
There’s no good options for playing KI online outside of 1Up and Xbox One. There’s a chance Fightcade will get Killer Instinct running soon. It’s free to play on any PC.
I have a question. In the original Killer Instinct arcade game, I've heard that TJ Combo and Orchid have an alternate stage called "The Street" (not to be confused with TJ Combo's KI 2 level). How is this alternate stage accessed?
It will appear on 2 player matches but you can request it by holding down and pressing quick kick while selecting your character on a 2 player match. It’s not possible to play that stage in single player.
@@KillerArcadeGames That explains it. I remember seeing the Street level in the arcades as a kid but when playing the single player game using emulators I could never find it.
Don't worry... I loved the nerdy stuff since I'm particular as well about the details. Thank you for this review. As you requested, yes, this video helped me decide further from buying the Arcade1UP machine due to that input lag. But I wasn't really going to buy it anyways. Unless it goes much lower than the $500 sale price I've seen.
I should mention that Code Mystics did release updates to this cabinet after this video. It reduced input lag and fixed the bridge glitch too! There’s still some input lag but I can now pull off that Orchid combo with ease. I made a video on it more recently. I’d now argue their KI 1 software is on par with MAME.
I'm on my phone so I can't easily reply but here a link to a video that shows the cheats and tells you how to do it: ruclips.net/video/jW6yeCpXs8I/видео.html
I spent 2 hours last night playing against the same guy and had a great time. The online play is where it's at. Marquee, don't care, sticks and buttons I can't play with so happs are coming Monday. Z313 is coming tomorrow so sound will be cool. I wish the screen was bigger but the game is there and that's all that Matters, I'll beat up on some proline guys when it comes out. Thanks for all the input, I've been following for a few years and pumped that I own the (proper, not snes) version. TSR68
I’ve got to get the Happ sticks in. Tonight’s live stream had me frustrated with mine. I know a lot of people had been waiting to have an easy option to get the arcade version of KI in their house. I got so used to it, it’s hard to remember that as a bonus.
@@KillerArcadeGames that's just it, I didn't have the means or smarts to do mame, I got the pandoras box(snes) just to play something and the practice mode is great. What sold me was the online, to play against random dudes, and it has its bugs but it's so worth it. It took me along time to buy but I was so jealous of human competition. Like walking up and putting that money in. So, I hope to be more competitive with the Happs and I'll see you online. Thanks for all the time put in. It's just fun and we all need a little of that
That’s exactly how I was haha! I said I’m not buying it. Especially after just buying a real KI a week before it released. But seeing the online play had me jealous and I just had to do it.
Some of glitches you mentioned happens in the Xbox series x version of the game also. The two person on each other glitch and the cut off combo glitch. The cut off combo glitch needs to be patched. That issue happens in the Classic Mode. In Final Game Mode where everything is patched, all the combos connect.
Yeah they do. They did improve from that version. I made a video when they announced the Arcade1Up showing issues with the sound and that was fixed before release.
I didnt see anyone mention it, but if KI is anything like MK, the real hardware runs at something like 57hz, as opposed to 60hz and emulated versions run at 60 so its always faster.
Hey Chris! Brand-new Arcade1-up player and general KI rookie here. I’m having quite a hard time learning how to combo; are there any online guides you know of that are useful for learning the button combinations, or any general tips you can share on how you first learned? Also, are there any ways to practice combos without having to go into 2-player mode (something like practice mode on SNES)? I struggle to get any good combos in during AI matches because I’m too busy getting whooped on…
As far as learning combos goes, the best I can do is point you to my Sabrewulf and Orchid's easy combo videos. There in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL6ikDreBrqwuj2SqHqLY4GQgAda_2al7P There's no way currently to practice on the 1Up cabinet. I'm certain it can be added if Arcade1Up wants Code Mystics to do it but for now its not there. You could set up MAME on a PC, get a fight stick and use cheats in MAME to have something like that. But its a pretty complicated set up process just for that. Sorry, I wish I had better answers here!
I played on numerous Cabinets when this game was originally released. This game blew away everything that was out at the time. Yes! For a time SFII & MK were a thing of the past. For a very short time I may add. However there are 2 things I remembered about this game that made broken beyond belief. Eyedol by was a one sided affair. It was like the Old School Akuma in the Street Fighter series. He was by nature way more powerful than any other character. The other thing I didn't like was the Cinder spacing glitch that involved his Flip Kick. If you practiced the distance it made his kick flip unblockable. You simply couldn't win if a person knew the spacing & timing. Thank the Lord not many players knew about this glitch. I'm sure some did, but wanted to be fair. How we learned about it was a guy desperate for tokens at the arcade. I'm sure people found other ones, but I wonder if the were as cruel???
Yeah I also experienced an input lag when pulling off Orchid's spinning blade move. I also experienced a glitch where being stuck in the corner. Lastly, I experienced a crash when beating the game with Sabrewulf in KI2 where after the ending, it went back to the main menu, not showing the end credits.
Wow, my KI2 never crashed when beating it. I specifically tested that after the KI1 crashes. But I did have a glitch after the credits. It had me put my initials in and it got stuck looping the music repeatedly for 10 minutes until I finally just pressed start lol! But I found out that’s a glitch that exists in the real hardware. If you put your initials in on that screen and don’t hit “end” after it will get stuck.
@Killer Arcade Games Also, my game crashes sometimes when doing an ultra or any finisher. It takes me back to main menu. And yesterday, I just experienced a new glitch on Sabrewulf's ultimate in KI2 where he electrocuted his enemy, but his enemy didn't burn into a crisp.
hi nice video, i have a question... is it possible to play this game as it looks in a modern day console? maybe a ps4? the only killer instinct version that i have always seen on emulators is the super nintendo version but i really love this one, thanks
It is. The Xbox One has KI 1&2 Classic, with online play. It’s emulating the arcade just with the Nintendo stuff removed since Microsoft owns it now. The cheapest way would be to learn how to use MAME and just run it on a PC. MAME emulated the arcade ROMs/hardware and it’s as close to arcade perfect as you can get without the real hardware. I can’t offer much help or link you to anything because RUclips doesn’t like emulation stuff for legal reasons. I have a video on how to install MAME and a video on which version of MAME runs KI best.
Thanks for answering all of my questions during your livestream. Another one for you: should we hold out hope that Code Mystics is working on fixing the input lag and combo-dropping? That seems to be the most alarming issue I’d have that would prevent me from wanting to get this version or the Pro
No problem! I haven’t heard if they’re going to fix the input lag or the combo dropping. If you’re only playing the 1Up version you’ll get used to the lag and adjust to it, at least that’s what I found. I only have problems with it when I switch around between cabinets. The combo dropping is a weird one. I hadn’t mentioned it to them, I assume they’ll see this and can maybe look at it. Once I get Happ sticks installed I’ll test again and see if it’s any better. Maybe it’s more on the poor controls side.
My favourite fighting game of all time, this and mk 1 arcade, pushed boundaries, this literally looked like a cgi movie but in a game, it's what this generation are missing, would love for more games to focus on photo realism and cgi looking graphics in fighting games...
I did try the CRT filter. I like how it looks but I feel it darkens the image a little too much. But I have to use it on the MK30th anniversary cabinet. The graphics look horrible without it.
@@KillerArcadeGames I agree with it making KI a little too dark. I play this switch game on one of my 1up’s called Slipstream. That game has its own CRT filter and it is so dang cool! Wish arcade1up used something like it.
Just found your video bro. Add me to the 35K KI fan base.. I was a teen in the 90s and KI was #1 favorite fighting Arcade of all time. The other one I really liked close to KI was Soul Calibur. Like yourself, I'd spend hours on end playing this game at the Mall. Needless to say, I'd love to get one for the house, but I honestly don't know where to start. It would actually be great if I can play it on my home PC instead, but that seems a bit more complicated. Do I just buy the machine off Amazon or eBay? Is there anything else I would need? Which would be the best bang for the buck in terms of these Arcades? I'd really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. Subscribed..
You can get the 1Up machine on Amazon. The issues I mentioned in my video have mostly been fixed. Code Mystics worked with myself and others to fix and test the new emulation of the game and it is very good now! The online play is fun too. amzn.to/4cIhYju
Thanks! I need to order another set and get started. I’ll probably take the deck apart today and look at the wiring to see what needs to be done. I’m spending too much money lately haha. I just ordered a set for my real KI. Tornado Terry is going to think I’m dealing these hahah
@@KillerArcadeGames Im gonna do a video on how to change the controls on the stock encoder once my happs arrive, like the stock joys are good on KI, but not good enough, my spinal and jago game are hurting cause my half circles arent always registering.
I just remembered, in some version(s) of the game(original arcade), you dont use cinder to make yedol, you use reptile. and the combination is different, but easier
Arcade 1UP emailed me to Confirm Dimensions of the Pro Cabinet as: Weight: 94lbs Assembled Dimensions:23” D x2 2.4” W x 67.5” H Box Dimensions 49" x 26" x 16"
That’s tough to answer. You’d probably end up spending the same to put a PC in it and adding all the parts needed, reskinning it to look like a KI isn’t very cheap either. I think the deciding factors would be do you want the game to be more like original with all the Nintendo logos or do you want the online play more.
Very nice and honest review! Its hard for me to watch reviews of people who gets paid or got the cab free. Im hoping to get the pcb, dont really care for the cab itself.
Hey I see that it has different ROM versions. If you are on one ROM version and the other online person is on another ROM version can you 2 still play each other?
Good question. I don’t think the ROM version matters at all. My assumption is you just play whatever version the person you’re joining is playing and vice versa.
@@KillerArcadeGames Oh okay. I asked because I'm trying to get arcade1up codemystics to give us the roms for Jam TE and Hangtime. I contacted the NBA and they said they didn't hear anything about putting the Mortal Kombat characters back into TE. So I hit a1up about it and they said the usual: we'll pass it onto the whoever.
Awesome review dude! To be honest, Arcade 1Up cabs aren’t worth the money imo, but each to their own. I love everything arcade, so I’ll be back for the next one 😎👍✨
I know I'm (really) late to the party, here... but I thought A1U was going to put this into the Midway / KI cabinet design, with the slanted control deck?! Did I dream that?

@@KillerArcadeGames Isn't there supposed to be a video playing of the game in a huge monitor on top of the building in the background of Orchid's level? I think the glitch you're seeing flashing in the background. In fact, you can see the players on that display in the background for a frame or two. There must be reason why they tried to take it out. My guess is it doesn't look good with vertical sync.
No. It’s LVDS as far as I recall. You can buy a board that will allow you to plug in VGA or HDMI but the game can’t be used. It would be a good solution if you wanted to mod the cabinet.
Great in depth review of the A1up cab! I have a question about the input lag on the Arcade1up KI, would you be able to test and see if the input lag is reduced when the smoothing and scan lines are turned off? I suspect the extra processing time for those effects may be what’s causing the added lag.
Nah, I barely bought this one. Already having the original arcade cabinet and a MAME cab was more than enough. Ultimately the online play made me so jealous I had to buy it haha.
Awesome review man. Always trust your opinion. Wating for your video on the joysticks! Also one question. When changing the joysticks do you use a 4 or 8 way? I have tried it through mame with a 4 way i found that the controls were more tighter and easier to do compared to an 8 way. What do you recommend?
Thanks Kat! I’ll use 8 way just because that’s how the Happ sticks come and I’m most used to playing on them. My thing is the original arcade stuff is what I was always used to so I just stick with it.
@@KillerArcadeGames thank you for your answer. I have one more question what exactly do I need for happ sticks yi upgrade the ki machine? Looking into it there are diffrent pin sets and wires. I seem ti have bought the wrong ones. 😕 please help as your the only one I trust!

Get the 3/4 scale on sale. The glitches are fixed, the online play is greatly improved and has spectate mode. If you want the Happ sticks, I have a video on how to install them on this cabinet as well. The Pro appears to not be worth the money.
That doesn’t happen in the real arcade. Code Mystics has said they’re working on figuring out what’s causing it. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. It did appear on their Xbox One emulation as well.
@@KillerArcadeGames there is a Glitch actually to get stuck together like that on the Real Arcade Board v1.4 and v1.5 but it only works on the rooftop stages , no other stages . seeing it on Eyedols stage here and i saw it on the Xbox version also years ago , defo looks strange seeing it done on a normal stage

That original n64 intro you made was absolutely awesome. Good job! 😃
Thanks Terry! I surprised myself on that one.
Amazing review; nerding out is defiantly the way to go.
I really enjoyed making this. I've always noticed the differences with emulation so getting to prove it all was cool.
I loved the sound in the arcade. It was so amazing!
Thanks Peketo! Also thanks for letting me use your footage.
@@KillerArcadeGames no man, I thank you! it's an honor to be mentioned in your video!
Wait, could you tell me what this KI Pro Line is? I'm looking to buy a cabinet. Thank you! KI is the best!
Excellent video, dude. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Amazing comparisons. This video is a massive help to the community thanks for your work.
Thanks Adam! I do need to make an updated review. Code Mystics has fixed just about everything I found that was wrong and even added more online features recently. Its turning out to be one of the best Arcade1Up releases.
That Spinal laugh gets me every time. Love it.
Do gsync or freesync tvs work with ps4 pro?
What you think about Samsung NEO G8 240hz monitor masterpiece ?
Best review yet. Way better than Twisted Chris could ever hope to do.
I admire your dedication and passion to the game. Thank you for all this information. You are the best. Take care!
Thanks! This game imprinted on me when I was a kid haha. I’m hooked.
Awesome Review, cant imagine it being any better! Thanks!
Thanks Red C!
Dude I’ve just discovered this and this is amazing ! I’m buying one Tuesday
Nice, enjoy!
Way late to the party, but that may have been the most solid complete review I’ve seen on any cabinet. Wow.
Thanks!
Best review I've seen.. Great video
Thanks Matthew!
Awesome video. Thank you Chris!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent review! Waiting for the updates and fixes before getting mine. Great job! paPOw!!!
Thanks! It should only improve so that's a big plus. I'll see you online if you get it!
I had no idea you made that website, I used it as a kid for so long (thanks for helping me play it on mame ;)
Wild. As always, love your content and I appreciate you
9:56 on god... man hearing that announcement still gives me gooose bumps!
I'm still waiting for my Ultra 64 from 1995
I love that announcement/ad!
@@KillerArcadeGames I remember having sooo much anticipation for it! I honestly didn't like the SNES release until years down the line
Finally good hyper spin working on my pie 3 and the pc hyper spin version pretty exciting enjoying your reviews nice

Thanks! Man, that sounds like a hell of a journey to get this game to you safely haha. I’ll probably be on randomly this weekend.
I was 12 when I finished this machine.
Always with Orchid or Fulgore.
Man.. what a game, I'll record a theme cover soon.
I've had zero problems with mine. Love it. Not sure what there's to complain about.
Exactly correct on the replacement stick and button replacement issue. I'm am 100÷ in agreement with having to replace these things if you are a serious player.
There’s just no competition when comparing them lol. If anyone said they preferred the 1Up controls I’d think they were crazy haha.
Since I’m gonna get an Arcade1Up soon Living In Europe, because thanks to your Videos,I know how to make bigger combo!I cant wait to have it in my living room! 👍
That’s awesome! I hope you enjoy it.
I can only give you one thumb up, you deserve 3 thumbs up good sire
Haha thanks
@@KillerArcadeGames ya I’m 6 ft and playing on my final fight isn’t unbearable it’s fine but that little extra height and slant would really be nice
I thought I loved K I alot , you're obsessed 😂
Hahah I still don't know how I got to this level of crazy for this game. Theres very few things I'll obsess over like this. I don't care much at all about Star Wars or the normal franchises people get crazy over. I know a ton about Killer Instinct and Breaking Bad and that's about it!
Great job on the review. Nerd reviews are great
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure what people would think of the nerdier deep dive stuff.
great Job Chris!
This looks like one class game and an excellent video my friend, and nothing wrong with being a nerd😃liked and subbed👍🏻
Thank you!
THANK YOU
Excellent video review.
The corner glitch is present in the xbox one digital releases too. Literally just posted a few days ago.
well i have a meme table top that i wanna turn into a MK/KI system and was wondering if there was anyway i can play you with that?
There’s no good options for playing KI online outside of 1Up and Xbox One. There’s a chance Fightcade will get Killer Instinct running soon. It’s free to play on any PC.
definetely, this game was ahead of that time
I have a question.
I remember seeing the Street level in the arcades as a kid but when playing the single player game using emulators I could never find it.
you must be thrilled about the KI Pro announcement lol
@@KillerArcadeGames Oh nice... Thanks for the update!
Is the button lag still preset even after updates?
Great job. Thank you.
Thanks Matt!
Excelente revisão! Bem poderia ter um ARCADE desse no Brasil!!
Gracias!
Hey bro how are u have a question I have purchased a arcade1up Killer Instinct what are the codes for fast mode and slow mode and combo breaker
But seeing the online play had me jealous and I just had to do it.
ever thought of upgrading the harddrive in the original cab?
I have, I wanted to keep it running the old HD since that’s how it originally was but I think I will change it to the flash kit soon.
I didnt see anyone mention it, but if KI is anything like MK, the real hardware runs at something like 57hz, as opposed to 60hz and emulated versions run at 60 so its always faster.
holy shit you built that website!? I freCkin remember going to that site a whole lot, thanks for having such a cool resource!!!
That was me! I miss it but Facebook groups and social media eventually killed it’s popularity. No one wanted to go to a website anyone to chat.
There in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL6ikDreBrqwuj2SqHqLY4GQgAda_2al7P
There's no way currently to practice on the 1Up cabinet. I'm certain it can be added if Arcade1Up wants Code Mystics to do it but for now its not there. You could set up MAME on a PC, get a fight stick and use cheats in MAME to have something like that. But its a pretty complicated set up process just for that. Sorry, I wish I had better answers here!
The outlines are on the plexi so the LED strip can light them up.
Man is there any way we can get your intro put into the Arcade1Up cabs? Like seriously, ask them. That was great!
No way that I know of. I’m sure they’ve seen it, I’d gladly offer it up if they wanted to use it.
Mine crashes when I beat KI1 not sure why
Does anyone know if they cut content from this port? I heard they removed orchids fatality??
Everything is still there gameplay wise. The only things removed were Nintendo references.
hi nice video, i have a question... is it possible to play this game as it looks in a modern day console? maybe a ps4? the only killer instinct version that i have always seen on emulators is the super nintendo version but i really love this one, thanks
I’m going to get one hopefully by the end of the year for a birthday gift. I know my mom is going to get mad at me 💀💀
Thanks for answering all of my questions during your livestream.
Wow what a great review! Nice work. Did you try the scan lines set to CRT filter? I feel like that gives it the best image on the 1up version.
There’s a crt scan line option also if you click on the scan line option instead of going left or right. It’s the better of the two imo
I didn't know that was an option until this comment lol. I tried it today. Thanks!
@@KillerArcadeGames yea i totally stumbled upon it myself when I was messing the cab. Kinda a Easter egg option lol
Great video! I want this really bad but I'm holding out for the pro version.
That may be better. I can’t wait to see more info on it. I want to see a real cabinet instead of a mock up.
Great review Chris, so when you changing your online controls to Happs?
Yeah that’s true! I think it’s 1.3 and earlier
Man i want one so bad. I love this and ki2. Man….thanks bud
Arcade 1UP emailed me to Confirm Dimensions of the Pro Cabinet as:
Weight: 94lbs
Assembled Dimensions:23” D x2 2.4” W x 67.5” H
Box Dimensions 49" x 26" x 16"
So would it be worth just getting an older Arcade 1up cabinet and converting it? $700 still doesn't seem worth it for the quality.
That’s tough to answer. You’d probably end up spending the same to put a PC in it and adding all the parts needed, reskinning it to look like a KI isn’t very cheap either. I think the deciding factors would be do you want the game to be more like original with all the Nintendo logos or do you want the online play more.
Can you still do the shadow moves on the 1up version?
Yes!
Oh man, BattleToads Arcade !
This was their initial Midway version from what I can tell. But the MK shape is far better. It would be nice if they’d have used that shape for KI.
@@KillerArcadeGames Dude, as psyched as I was for the KI release, your MAME buildout puts it *t o s h a m e.* Might have just convinced me to follow your playbook and finish that Final Fight conversion I started almost 2 years ago now! 😅😅😅
the rooftop sky glitches look like lights on the buildings misplaced or duplicated in the sky.
I assumed it was the sky that’s behind the players coming into view briefly when the camera zoomed out. I could be wrong though.
Does 1up uses vga cable on their monitor?
Curious. I had the same thing happen to me when I beat the game. How was it fixed?
It’s not fixed yet. But I have played a beta update where it is fixed. So a fix is likely coming soon.
Ok. Awesome! Was looking forward to a credit roll when I beat Eyedol. Thanks for the info!
The only two cabinets that blew me away were Killer Instinct and Soul Edge. The cabinets were so loud and bombastic
I figured you would go with the PRO SERIES one.
@@silentkat6438 I'm looking at all of that now. It looks like I'll be making a video on it in a few weeks. I buy this kit: ebay.to/2JafnDK but it looks like some joy stick wires will need to be cut and new tips put on using this and a crimper amzn.to/3Jv4KrL For the button, you can either cut the wires and use butt connectors or just get a new set of wires from amazon. I can't find the wires alone currently but they come with these usb encoders amzn.to/34WCsY9 I will be doing mine soon and I'll record and make a tutorial about how I did it.
Is there ample room for 2 players in person? I Know it's smaller which is why I ask. Thanks in advance!
It’s a typical Arcade1Up in that respect, it’s about 19 inches wide. Two adults can play on it but I wouldn’t think it would be very comfortable.
@@KillerArcadeGames thanks. I'm holding out for the pro. Can't wait to see your review (if you get one)! I hope there is more space for 2. That is a big deal for me.
I don’t plan on getting it. But I do hope it’s wider!
Ok So I found you today on Christmas Day, 10 months after this was posted and this thing is going on sale for boxing day. Glitches fixed? Wait for pro? Buy it...?
It's $650 CAD with the riser & stool. + 11% tax
Get the 3/4 scale on sale. The glitches are fixed, the online play is greatly improved and has spectate mode. If you want the Happ sticks, I have a video on how to install them on this cabinet as well. The Pro appears to not be worth the money.
Now I want it to play Battletoads
Haha I need to play that more.
Hmm. Been a long. But I always used U64emu to emulate KI. I'd like to see how it compares.
In one of your streams you said that getting locked trapped in the corner of the screen happened in the real arcade ?
That doesn’t happen in the real arcade. Code Mystics has said they’re working on figuring out what’s causing it. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. It did appear on their Xbox One emulation as well.
@@KillerArcadeGames there is a Glitch actually to get stuck together like that on the Real Arcade Board v1.4 and v1.5 but it only works on the rooftop stages , no other stages .
seeing it on Eyedols stage here and i saw it on the Xbox version also years ago , defo looks strange seeing it done on a normal stage
MVC2 Pro, 2023. Get ready.
I wonder if it has the same glitches the arcade has....like shutting the game off with riptor(?) And the slo-mo glitch?
Does this cabinet run on Android like other newer cabinets?
