TIFF! This video is brilliant. I have been wanting to figure out how to make a teleprompter because I feel like my ipad is too old to work as one. I have to put this on my list of crafts to make. Thank you thank you for bringing us this awesome resource! I've done proper in studio teleprompter work once and I really liked it. The hardest part for me was getting tongue tied over my words...especially as someone is watching you read out loud! It felt like I was in elementary school again lolz
@ 😂😂😂😂 yes girl, I did a couple teleprompter gigs in studio and I was always awkward. The best way to get better is just like with memorization, knowing where the script is headed to make it more natural is my go-to. If I don’t know where i’m going or the PACING of what i’m supposed to be reading, i’m going to stumble. At least, at home, if I stumble, I can stop the teleprompter lol on set, they just look at you like you offended them. I appreciate you watching! your diy VO booth is still one of my favorites!
I built one using 1/4 inch plywood and purchased teleprompter glass for 100.00 online it reflects really nice and doesn't have a double image for the text as normal glass does. I made a mount for my tripod to hold the teleprompter and camcorder in alignment with the hole in the back. I like the foam idea you used. I cut the black plastic from a loose leaf notebook to fit the lense and mounted that to the hole. I did a video of a Cheif of police talking about the covid issues they were having and used the teleprompter to display the text form his speach. Works great. Really nice video you did. Gives me some ideas.
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison darn it...no. i wish i did. Made it from scrap plywood and metal i had to hold the housing for the glasspainted it flat black. It's all one piece too so i don't need two tripods to hold it and the camcorder.
This was amazing. So practical and doable. Definitely a great, affordable alternative to the expensive "real ones". Even if it took me five tries-- and it would. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience to give us ideas for the rare times I have it way more scripted.
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison I need one so bad, but I might have to order one because just looking at you make it made me tired, lol! Plus...kids...so there's that. But damn, $5 makes me stop and think for sure.
This is so awesome. I am actually considering a teleprompter. I'll probably just buy one🙂, but this is definitely and inexpensive way to create one. I enjoy crafting so if I had time, I'd make it for fun. Awesome alternative for those who don't wanna spend $. Thanks for sharing
Very handy build :) A low-budget idea to help support the box, might be to pick up a burger Flipper while you're at the dollar tree, and "tape" it to the tripod pole underneath.
Yooooo you got me thinking about how creative and resourceful my dad is with stuff like this! The suspension was awesome! For now my phone is my camera, so I need to figure something out. Great tutorial Tiffany!!!
I have no teleprompter experience, but I might give your crafty idea a try! I definitely need help in that area, lol! Thank you for the tips and the cool tutorial, Tiffany!
Girl! I'll never make my own, but that is super cool that you found all the pieces from the Dollar Tree! I would be super scared to put it on my camera! But way cool!
This is so creative. I enjoy DIY projects. This is something I would love to make when I try a teleprompter. I have never used one, I go by memory. After watching this I think I would like to try it. This could really cut down on my shooting time. Please do a video on teleprompter 101 for people like myself.😁
Hi Chanty! Yes, it definitely helps me shoot videos faster. Yes ma'am, I will definitely be making a Teleprompter 101 video in the coming weeks because I have gotten quite a few requests for it! Thank you for watching.
11.10.20: Hey so I never used a teleprompter before, but I can just say that this is something new to learn. Not sure what I would use it for, but God knows it would be.... as for the part when you asked, “who remembers geometry?” I’m like sis, my dad is geometry 😭😂! I’m not a fan of the study of degrees and stuff 🤣, but he does. God bless him.✨💜
Thanks for the review Tiffany, would you worry to present Powerpoint presentation with bullet as videos using a Teleprompter with PPT Mirror app & iPad to help you keep your conversation on target and more natural on camera.
Hi Andries! You know, I have never tried using the DIY teleprompter with a powerpoint, that might be a little over my head. Let me know if you find any good tutorials on that, I'd like to see it, too!
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison Thanks, Yes its possible you can use ppt-mirror.com software that allows you to use your existing Powerpoint slides as your teleprompter software and also compatible with BT remote for switching slides.
@@coachtouden you can do it! If you used another cellphone or tablet, you could set up your cellphone camera on your tripod, leave that back piece off, and put a black t-shirt on top to block out the light!
Sooo . . . you lost me after the four squares and three rectangles!! If I ever need one of these, I'll put in an order and have you make it!! LOL. Just kidding!!
Just wanted to check how the setup would change if I use a mobile phone instead of my camera to shoot the video. When I tried I can only see the rim of the teleprompter in the video.
Hi American! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I really appreciate your compliment and question. Here's a video that I think helps you get more confident on camera but the short answer: A LOT of practice and looking very "unnatural" on camera helps. I am an actor, so my background was stage work, but film and tv always seemed a little daunting. Practicing helps for sure! ruclips.net/video/cNYguXRz27c/видео.html
Dollar store foam core, Hot glue, Yeah these are good tips I'll use them let me share 1 with you, Replace your razor blade often it will make all the difference in the world I know they're a little tiny bit expensive but still it will make all the difference in the world replace your razor blade Often your life will be much easier.
I had an acting audition and I was told that I was going to be using a teleprompter, and I was horrified because I had never used a teleprompter before, and this was a teleprompter like they use on tv shows. I was SO intimidated! But when it was my turn to audition, I did great, until the jerk off controlling the teleprompter speed, sped it up on me! I was SO pissed!
Hi Karma! i can only imagine - that IS intimidating. I’ve done a few commercials with teleprompter and it’s pretty hard to read with people watching, you know?! appreciate you watching!
I would love to use a teleprompter I think it would be very helpful but I only use my iPhone although I do have a lap top . God job
Oooh! i totally get that. if you have another tablet or ipad, you could make that work, too. Thanks for watching!
