36:14 Ironically, letting Astarion drink a bit of your blood during "bite night" is actually the _best_ choice you can make in the long run to gain his approval and rock-hard loyalty. You get two opportunities to tell him to stop drinking, easy rolls, and he will stop. No need to stake him. The game also gives you two opportunities to _not_ do anything and let him drink you dry until you die.... then you only have yourself to blame. But don't worry, that's _not_ a game over, next morning you wake up groggy but alive. Either Astarion used a Revivify scroll on your or Withers brought you back, as Bite Night only happens once Withers is in your camp and is usually triggered by finding the drained dead boar with vampire bite marks on the road to the Blighted Village and then resting at camp. (If you never meet Withers the Lich at the Dank Crypt, he'l just wander into your camp like a stray cat soon after, because he is incredibly important as a camp follower as he can raise dead companions. If your approval rating with Astarion is high before Bite Night is triggered, he can also decide to "come out" to the entire grop in the middle of the day and admit, hey folks I'm kinda sorta, how do I put this... _a vampire!_ (teheh!) It's such a hilarious speech.
Also, you should've talked to Astarion in the morning after he tries to bite you to get more info on how he is a vampire spawn. But yeah, telling him to get lost during bite night, or asking him to only feed on animals (which is what his abusive vampire master has done, only allowing him rats and bugs) will not make him happy.
I have no idea how these triggers work, but on my third playthrough, Astarion just decided to tell us he was a vampire spawn after we killed Dror Ragzlin in the goblin camp. I didn't get any build-up for that one. In my second playthrough, I watched him sneak out of camp, found the drained boar, and then he tried to bite me. Not sure if I just didn't long rest enough in my third game or what.
@MogamiKyoko13 It's tied to the long rests. If you advance too far in the story without resting enough it'll never trigger and he'll just tell you. I think it's pretty low in priority in terms of what cutscenes it will show, so if you don't long rest enough, the higher priority scenes will appear before you get it
I’ve been playing this game NONSTOP for the past two weeks, yet watching Kevin’s video helped me figure out the solution to almost THREE puzzles I was stuck on. I’m not sure how he stumbled upon the answers but thank you 😂😂
Kevin instantly buys a shovel because he knows they’re never gonna get healed, but to be considerate he’ll dig all their graves and play them a fancy tune for their last moments. 12:50
22:20 looks like he found the tiefling hostility glitch. If Mol tells on you, they immediately go into combat after talking with the guard, regardless of if you succeed or not.
The hardest part of this video is watching Kevin get annihilated while each of his characters have a glowing level up symbol on their profile pictures.
@@Cosmo_Samoyed Huh, didn't know that. The fuckin' intrusive thoughts are CRAZY dark sometimes with Dark Urge though. Had me laughing out loud when the narrator is saying such awful shit.
The narrator and parchment was a beautiful creative touch. Also even though it was a troll video, the events have played out completely different than other playthrough I watched, as well as my own. Awesome game!
Kevin likes to pretend he's bad at video games, but stuff like this proves just how good he is. He managed to do so well without looking anything up. We knwo he didn't look anything up because he took a single long rest...
This is quite an accurate Bard roleplay. DM: "ok, the Fighter attacked and the Wizard casted Fireball. Bard, what are you doing?" Bard, playing the lute: "THERE GOES MY HERO!🎶"
Seeing Astarion just hanging out slightly behind Carl, just watching scilently as that bard goes on to do the most insane shit... Yeah, that's in character I think.
I mean, I don't think his goal was to play the game well, so I don't think he even noticed the origin options much. Or knows what the Dark Urge entails. If he did, I think he would have gone with it though
I'm surprised Kevin did not pick Dark Urge. It's not an Origin Character but a Background, it will allow you to be an absolute psycho. For example! When Gale is reaching out his hand (from the swirly purple portal that Kev ignore), a Dark Urge player can fantasies about cutting off his hand...and turns out, you did! And now you got Gale's Severed Hand in your inventory.
I’ve never seen anyone play this game less proficiently. Truly a marvel of not knowing what the fuck a single feature of the game is. You didn’t even level up. You shot a bunch of people at point blank range with disadvantage and got confused when it wasn’t working. You forgot to reequip your weapon and tried to fistfight Kagha as a level one bard. Astonishing (with love)
Honestly, Kevin ignored Gale for the same reason I did: that looks dangerous, only I thought it was something to come back to because Ive played older rpgs...not that I was supposed to interact with it. I still slap his hand first, because he should clarify.
I’m loving BG3 and I’m loving all the content coming out of it because it’s so open ended. Kevin’s playthrough is my favorite by far. Only Kevin could screw this game up so badly. Military genius
Oh, yes! Larian implied you could do things like betray your co-op allies (use that hide dialogue option well) and having such malicious, chaotic friends play would be AMAZING
@@molybdaen11 Haven't seen it done in practice, and I'm not sure how that looks (I think one side would still have to 'win', and what if your friend is elsewhere at the time you raid the grove or whatever). But from what I understand, conceptually that's the case.
As a dnd lover, there's something incredibly fun and endearing about watching a newbie discover its weird ass mechanics for the first time in Balders Gate- reminds me of playing for the first time. Also I love how well the chaotic energy Kevin exudes goes with the game; I hope theres more videos like this! (Also incredible that Kevin, a natural born bard, actually picked that class!)
Kevin waiting so long to level up his characters is frustrating 😂 And I never even knew about the shadow druids storyline! That's crazy how big this game is! PLEASE continue this game, even if it's like Fable and you only play once a year!
One of my players already made me bluescreen by THROWING THE OBVIOUS MACGUFFIN INTO A PORTAL OF FIRE AND LIGHTNING I had to improv *so* hard for what came after
I decided to be evil on my first playthrough because I can never manage to do it (I feel bad for being mean to digital characters), and boy oh boy did some of the evil things give me ptsd. Love that Kevin has been enjoying the game as well! The game is long as hell but hopefully there might be a full playthrough someday!
I really relate to this. I don't personally enjoy doing true evil runs of games but I am really interested in the different ways of accomplishing the same goal and what kind of evil stuff it's possible to do in games like this, which is one of the reasons why I like watching Kev. He thinks of stuff I doubt I ever would even if I tried. 😂
The "Dark Urge" character has a serial killer story line and you can still customize them. I think that would suit you a lot. It has tons of rich story and cinematics, and honestly it's super screwed up too. Reminds me of Jim Pickens.
It's so interesting watching other people play BG3, I've been through this part 3 times already and I'm still learning heaps of new stuff watching Kev play
I've been playing since EA started, with at least 4 characters that have gone through almost all of the Act 1 content, and probably upwards of 15 characters that have gone through the grove at least, and I see and hear about new outcomes in the game during that act. Ever tried murdering Shadowheart at the beach, reviving her, and killing her again? Or casting speak with dead on a dead companion? Ever left the companions alone and seen what happens? There's so much that can be done. Utterly insane
"You're no thrall!" "Yeah I'm just Carl." Which interestingly enough is a distinct class from a thrall. They're two of the three broad classes in ancient Nordic society. Thralls (slaves), Carls (freemen), and Jarls (nobles).
I want an entire series of Kecin playing this game! It allows you to be legitimately evil in ways I haven't seen in other games and I wanna know how far Kevin will take it!
I really hope Kevin continues this as a series - there is so much more evil - I mean, sensible decisions Carl can make in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. Will we see Shadowheart again? Will Astarion be Carl’s only friend? Who knows…?
The beauty of D&D is you can try to do literally anything. Punch a guard, piss on a king while he gives a speech to thousands, ignore the main quest and start a fast food chain empire instead. The best sessions are almost always the result of chaos
I like how Kevin’s complaining about his party member missing a point blank shot with his bow, because in D&D those shots would be with disadvantage so it makes sense
As a big fan of this game, it was hilarious and painful to watch you stumbling through it! :D You discovered some things I missed though, so you were clearly doing something right...
Downloading a bunch of Kevin videos (including this one) for a very long flight in a few hours so thank you in advance Kev for keeping me entertained through that haha
I am absolutely shocked that he didn't pick the dark urge. But this is still funny. Poor Astarion can't get a break in Kevins run. xD I really hope he makes more baldur's gate videos.
ive been consuming nothing but bg3 content for the past month or two now. and this is genuinely the first time ive seen someone be so truly chaotic. not even just by talking to npc's/making decisions, every single thing kev does is pure chaos.
Trust me all he would have to do is just put a message into the universe. As a dm I know anyone would jump to have him😢 I’m about to start a chaotic game and I just pray we can be have as chaotic as him
I desperatly hope that Kevin will revisit this game! It has so much depth in what you can do, he's barely scratched the surface. I've seen a lot of people play this game, but this video still had some things that were new to me, like the way he dealt with the guys in front of the crypt. This game is a playground and I want to see Kevin play more!
BG3 is like a proper open world D&D experience, but in a game. It's the only game this year that has managed to hold my attention for hours outside of the niche multiplayer rpg called Akanbar. I'd love to see Kevin try out Akanbar too, that would be amazing. Kevin get on that my man, you'll have at least two viewers and three of them will be me (it's in text so not as colourfully visually appealing for a video).
Kevin not looting things, not leveling up, and equipping things without proficiency is more chaotic than his "evil decisions" lol
ikr
Not to mention walking up to enemies to try and range attack them,
oh lord, the pain.
Well, he proposed chaos and chaos we got.
Plus making spellcasters use weapon attacks instead of their cantrips and never making his rogue use sneak attack...
To be fair, if you've never played this type of game, the tutorial is really lacking. 😅😂

It's simply that Kevin himself suffers from the dark urge, so there's no need to put it into the game.

I think it's pretty low in priority in terms of what cutscenes it will show, so if you don't long rest enough, the higher priority scenes will appear before you get it
Larian: "We love seeing people play and stream our game!"
Kevin: *exists*
Larian: "Not like that."
Tbh, that's EXACTLY how Larian wants people playing bg3
Larian made the Dark Urge. Larian Knows what some DnD players are like.
Yep, I was gonna say that exact thing. He notices thing I wouldn't notice, doesn't min/max, rolls with the punches. Perfection.@@nymain3914
@@danieljames1868 what is the dark urge? Poo eating?
@@anegwalol wat
Kevin is the literal personafication of chaotic neutral. He mostly does evil shit but sometimes does good things accidentally
Lol
As long as it brings chaos, Kevin will do it!
I think Kevin requires a new alignment... Maybe Chaotic Chaos?
@@Lunker_Dunker just chaos-aligned is a thing
"I'm going to be as evil as possible"
*chooses standard bard build*
Yeah, that checks out
I’ve been playing this game NONSTOP for the past two weeks, yet watching Kevin’s video helped me figure out the solution to almost THREE puzzles I was stuck on. I’m not sure how he stumbled upon the answers but thank you 😂😂
Kevin instantly buys a shovel because he knows they’re never gonna get healed, but to be considerate he’ll dig all their graves and play them a fancy tune for their last moments. 12:50
I've been waiting for Kevin to play bg3 tbh, Kevin always seemed like someone who would be fun in a ttrpg
I think he’d probably enjoy a game of D&D even just as a side thing outside of YT
seeing how good this game is, a bit of "kevin" added to the mix should make it even better
The narrator voice doubling down on jokes never stopped being funny, kept cracking me up
22:20 looks like he found the tiefling hostility glitch. If Mol tells on you, they immediately go into combat after talking with the guard, regardless of if you succeed or not.
This video was enlightening because I’ve never actually seen someone ignore shadowheart on the ship and I was curious what happens if you did.
The hardest part of this video is watching Kevin get annihilated while each of his characters have a glowing level up symbol on their profile pictures.
As a dnd player I can confirm this exactly how chaotic an actual dnd game is
There's an origin called Dark Urge that opens up even eviler things, like kicking a squirrel for no reason.
You get that specific option on normal custom characters too…
with durge its not an option. you Will kick the squirrel@@Cosmo_Samoyed
@@Cosmo_Samoyed Huh, didn't know that. The fuckin' intrusive thoughts are CRAZY dark sometimes with Dark Urge though. Had me laughing out loud when the narrator is saying such awful shit.
Dark urge is on another level of evilness
@@Cosmo_Samoyedno the dark urge just instantly kicks the squirrel as soon as you interact with it. You don’t get an option to to choose.
The narrator and parchment was a beautiful creative touch. Also even though it was a troll video, the events have played out completely different than other playthrough I watched, as well as my own. Awesome game!
My favorite part of this is that closed captioning is writing "Carol" whenever he says Carl and its just so right.
If this turns into a series we will have stuff to watch while eating for a good while
Kevin not realizing that being up close makes ranged attacks more likely to miss is so funny.
Bard, what are you doing?"
Bard, playing the lute: "THERE GOES MY HERO!🎶"
watching kevin complaining about astarion missing when he's trying to shoot them with a bow from like two inches away is a trip
Seeing Astarion just hanging out slightly behind Carl, just watching scilently as that bard goes on to do the most insane shit... Yeah, that's in character I think.
The fact Kevin didn’t go with the dark urge in his attempt to be evil surprises me 😂
I mean, I don't think his goal was to play the game well, so I don't think he even noticed the origin options much. Or knows what the Dark Urge entails. If he did, I think he would have gone with it though
No way he knew about The Dark Urge when he made the Carl, otherwise he would've, I'm sure
Honestly, It's actually quite nice to see Kevin be playing a good character for once. As a DnD player he is not nearly as bad as he could have been!
"I need area of effect stuff" Left Gale in the portal. Classic.
*uses a ranged magic attack with the party rogue against an enemy within melee range*
"How could I miss this attack when the enemy is right there?"
Durge is an origin character, they're just fully customizable
I got a natural 20 at the swamp entrance check and was VERY confused why there were a bunch of goblins running around going "baaaaah".
I love the voice overs, they really add depth to the character, so we really FEEL what Carl is going through.
"Consider that a divorce" is a stroke of editing genius.
Anyone else love to see RTGamer and kev play the multiplayer co-op of this game? And possibly the spiffing brit too
I don't think RT can play this, way too many spiders and no arachnophobe mode
Oh, yes! Larian implied you could do things like betray your co-op allies (use that hide dialogue option well) and having such malicious, chaotic friends play would be AMAZING
@@genevievec.8002 So one player can decide to help the druids and the other the goblins? Thats interesting.
Kevin, running past the broken waypoint: "okay uhhhh I don't know what that is we're just going to ignore it"
- Gale disapproves.
- Astarion approves.
Kevin waiting so long to level up his characters is frustrating 😂
And I never even knew about the shadow druids storyline! That's crazy how big this game is! PLEASE continue this game, even if it's like Fable and you only play once a year!
Imagine being Call Me Kevin's Dungeon Master. I would explode lmao
One of my players already made me bluescreen by THROWING THE OBVIOUS MACGUFFIN INTO A PORTAL OF FIRE AND LIGHTNING
I had to improv *so* hard for what came after
I decided to be evil on my first playthrough because I can never manage to do it (I feel bad for being mean to digital characters), and boy oh boy did some of the evil things give me ptsd.
Kevin reloading to nring Astarion back from the dead when be was literally standing in the room to find Withers is...very on brand
The "Dark Urge" character has a serial killer story line and you can still customize them. I think that would suit you a lot. It has tons of rich story and cinematics, and honestly it's super screwed up too. Reminds me of Jim Pickens.
Oh, yes, he needs to do a full playthrough as the Durge Jim Pickens
@@genevievec.8002 I would watch all of it. Funny enough, my name is Genevieve! Lol!
I couldn't do an evil playthrough, but I know you can, Kevin! I'm counting on you!
In the past when Kevin had complete freedom to do what he wanted, it ended very badly for everyone involved
Yeah, but this isn't that kind of game. Here it's mostly going to mean it ends badly for him.
"You're no thrall!"
"Yeah I'm just Carl."
Which interestingly enough is a distinct class from a thrall. They're two of the three broad classes in ancient Nordic society. Thralls (slaves), Carls (freemen), and Jarls (nobles).
12:11 Giving Astrarion a disadvantage by being too close and using an arrow, so he's very likely to miss and then blaming him for missing 😩😂
🤣🤣🤣
"HE MISSED! He was right next to him!" Yes Kevin you have disadvantage with ranged weapons in melee range
Good trip for you Bro.
I am absolutely shocked that he didn't pick the dark urge. But this is still funny. Poor Astarion can't get a break in Kevins run. xD I really hope he makes more baldur's gate videos.
using a rogue as a tank, classic!
I legitimately never knew you could walk around the "Sunlit Wetlands" like this. The devs really thought of everything. I love it.
ive been consuming nothing but bg3 content for the past month or two now. and this is genuinely the first time ive seen someone be so truly chaotic. not even just by talking to npc's/making decisions, every single thing kev does is pure chaos.
I loved that too. Many people do evil playthroughs, but none have done such a truly chaotic playthrough that I've witnessed.
Kevin REALLY needs to find a DND campaign to join, just once lol - also, leave ti to Kevin to show us EVERY outcome we've never seen lol
Trust me all he would have to do is just put a message into the universe. As a dm I know anyone would jump to have him😢 I’m about to start a chaotic game and I just pray we can be have as chaotic as him
Omg I need to see this now. The chaotic possibilities would be literally limitless
God I remember when he joined that one like army roleplay server thing it was glorious.
Get the animal talking perk if you don't have it! It's hilarious and opens hours of conversations 😂
That disguise self trick is genius, yet simple and makes absolute sense, how didn't i think of that
When Kevin said “I have one loose end to tie up” I yelled out “THE SHEEP!” Lmao
The fact that he found *none* of the other companions (or at least none on screen I could see in camp) is absolutely sending me 😂
Carl is probably one of the most normal looking characters you’ve created, and that knowledge scares me a little. Lol
“I’m going to be the most evil character” makes lute player who wants to make friends with everyone
0:01 its going great thanks
