I’ve always found it hard to choose the bad options in video games, so having Kevin do it instead is great
Same, I want to do it for fun but then my conscience gets to me and then I'm like I would never rationally make that choice.

She went for the ol' Irish one-two: she offered him tea and excessive flattery. Fortunately, the modern Irish gentleman is far too depressed and cynical to fall for flattery.
Funnily enough, the 'best' ending for Edgewater is to redirect the power then convince the leader of Edgewater to step down. The worst ending is to shutdown the power to Edgewater then side with the Board, which has you personally kill all of them. It's an Obsidian game after all. morality gets interesting at times..
@@JaceMorley I prefer the earlier Obsidian games when all of the endings had pros and cons instead of being able to objectively rank them as best to worst like this. The only modern Obsidian game that's still amazing like their old games is Tyranny but not many people played it because it reused the game engine of Pillars of Eternity.
Outer Worlds is still better than most games in terms of having meaningful choices though, and a lot more user-friendly to gamers who have never played this type of RPG before instead of just jumping straight from simple RPGs like Mass Effect or Skyrim into the complexity of something like New Vegas or Planescape Torment.
@@cleverman383 Pillars of Eternity and 2 especially had a lot of endings like that too. The 'best' PoE2 endings are very much based on perspective.
Outer Worlds does very much feel like Obsidian 'holding back', I suspect to prove they can launch on time and on budget without major bugs when given the chance.

Hence why he needs to release the evil feelings every so often in games, you dont want to see what happens when he doesnt. We are better off if he doesnt go full Jim Pickens mode in real life.
I love how Kevin said he’s gonna be the worst person ever and actually played the quest in the beginning about shutting off power in the LEAST evil way😭 For those who didint play the game: you can, say, cut off the power from the big city as the leader of the botanical lab suggests AND THEN kill everybody in the botanical lab so everybody looses🎉 The cutscene with everyone leaving the big city once the power is shut off is SO depressing
honestly i love this game so much for this kind of messed up choices u should play it if you havent its guaranteed great even MY MOM played it and thats saying something alright
I really like Vicar Max and Ellie as companions. Also SAM the cleaning robot. They are great for an evil playthrough
SAM is my absolute FAVOURITE companion in Outer Worlds and I will die on this hill
SAM and Parvati are my go to team I love them so
You must get so excited whenever you find a game that allows you to be evil
I remember one of the things they wanted to do with this game was make sure you could finish it even if you killed every NPC, so good job on testing that out, Kevin!
It's kinda funny because if Kevin spent more time talking to the village people, he'd probably go with them, because if you haven't played the game, she uses dead people to grow her plants, and if you power her place she won't let any of the edgewater people into her place. His way wasn't morally the best, but it is the way with the most people alive because all of the village folk go back to edgewater except the old lady. He missed out on a wicked kill streak.
Edit: You can turn off masks in the settings, for both your character and your companions, don't skip S.A.M, he's the best and I'm surprised Kevin didn't go the full idiot route.
I swear the writing team was not on the same page as to what the game should have been.
On one hand you had: "Corporation bad and lead by the dumb dumbs." If you talk to Reed and delve through the dialogue you'll get stuff like. "They eat plants? Like... from the dirt? Gross!" But you'll also learn they cut the cans of tuna with stuff like sawdust.
And on the other hand, like you said, a lot of people die if you help the hippies. The regular people just want to exist outside of Edgewater but the leader is a cultish sociopath.
Kevin rarely plays the idiot in this sort of games. Hes more of "smarter than he sees coward". He chooses to be smart so he can lie and manipulate his way though any situation he cant be bothered to win by force. So really is 50/50, either hes an evil idiot or an inept criminal mastermind. It depends of whatever he feels like in any given moment. See how he switches between both modes though the video without rhyme or reason, just his usual brand of chaos.
Sam is pretty good. High health pool, corrosive flamer, good armor, and his ability is a massive aoe stun that puts him in flamer range.
Alternating sam and parvati's abilities carried my supernova run earlygame.
You can also power Edgewater, get reed to step down and get the deserters to go back . Which is the best way to keep most people alive

wonder how long it will take Kevin to realize the game has an option that specifically turns off helmets so you can wear them while still seeing your characters face
This is the best game ever to play kill everything, like that classic Many a True Nerd lets play. It is incredibly fun. And surprising, they really allowed for you to complete the game after killing every quest giver but the main scientist.
There's a wooden porch in Edgewater that you can drop items on, save and fast travel back to Edgewater and pick up, and then just keep fast traveling back, duplicating whatever you dropped
This video is even better while I'm doing a very good Outer Worlds run myself, all I could think when Pavarti said 'don't mess with us' to the civilian was 'Pavatri noooooo'

The prospect is just absurd. We all know hes a saint that cant do no wrong, even in games. If anything, this video show us the hard choices we have to make on a every day basis though the safe filter of a syfy game. Why, we can only strive to one day be as righteous as Ugly Man Thing.

I think my favorite thing about this game is dropping your intelligence so you unlock the dumb dialogue options I love how angry you can make some npcs by picking those choices

honestly i always try to be the "bad guy" in this but i just cant bring myself to do it, i feel guilty hurting the 1s and 0s :(

This game is like a bank giving Kevin a blank check to do whatever he wants and unfortunately for the people of The Outer Worlds that means they are going to lose more than just their deposits, time for them to cash out.

An evil run has been something I've been picking up lately in rpgs since I've always avoided the bad choices all these years. And j gotta say, it's pretty hilarious at times when you fo for these bad choices.
My conscience has never allowed me to play an evil character in choice games. In fact I can only ever be the nicest character possible. I must remember to unpack that with my therapist.
I had to rewind the first 30 seconds to check I wasn't hearing things, but that bg music is *definitely* from the Heart of Darkness game. Talk about an ultra-niche blast from the past, that's some good choice of music to set the mood!
A 28 minute Kevin video to end your day makes me happy.

in my first playthough i got a gitch at the very start turning the town hostile which resulted in me murdering every person in the game
so when he said "what if i kill this entire town" i can conform the iconoclast base is the hardest place in the entire game to kill off

Pretty please turn this game into a series, it even has some DLC if you run out of ideas for it! Also there was a follower called Vicar Max who you could get in the same city as Parvati, he just has a mini fetch quest beforehand. Just in case you want a priest/Vicar along on your travels!

Personally, I'm partial to the spacer's choice moon man helmet.
I know you probably won’t play this again for a long time but theres an option to hide equipped helmets in the settings 😂

I started a new play through and sided with the village this time and murdered Edgewater with parvaati. Turns out she is pretty indifferent when they start trying to kill you.
Kevin, for future videos, there is a setting to make your helmet invisible, so you can get the armor boost while still seeing your beautiful Ugly man thing.
