I was an "active duty" pilot in the USAF. I always thought we were the "best" because we were "active duty". But after leaving active service I worked with many National Guard and Reserve Air Force units. I was shocked to discover that the pilots and ground crews, in the National Guard and Reserve units, were MORE experienced than we were. National Guard and Reserve units normally meet every month to learn and practice procedures they would use if they are "called up" for active service. Many of those people are in those units for years, even decades. So no great surprise they are often MORE experienced than active duty personnel.

Actually about 40% of America owns 90% of firearms. That said, it's been estimated that should a civilian muster be called, America would be able to field a home guard of around 20 million, with another 10 willing to support, many of which would be Veterans. No country on earth could withstand a focused America. Also there's a very good chance that America would use tactical nuclear weapons before it would loose

A bit of perspective, some states like California and Texas have economies larger than most other countries. These states also possess their own militaries and are also more powerful than most other nations (The National Guard). This is what makes the USA and any comparison to China redundant. China is a REGIONAL power that can be easily dealt with at certain choke points as they have no global reach outside their submarine force.

@@Green.P3 The main problem is our lack of a naval building industry and the constant failure of naval projects. Key failures include things like the Zumwalt and LCS. Even the rising Constellation frigate was bogged down because the navy wanted too many modifications. The point of basing its hull on the FREMM was so that we could use an existing hull to quickly build up a frigate force. They decided to change the engine and sonar some, which forces them to essentially build a new hull anyway.
This partially leads into the issue with our own naval industry and China's. China went from a nation that could quelled by a single CSG to a nation that could not only keep at bay 1, but could likely take on multiple CSGs. Turning aside their IADS and A2/AD complex, one of the most important factors is their industrial output.
China is churning out naval vessels at an astonishing rate, and it makes sense. For reference, the Jiagnen shipyard alone has greater capacity than all US naval shipyards combined.

When the president calls up the reserves it’s a big deal, most have regular civilian lives they have to leave to go to war, but the active duty and reserves prevent us from having draft unless there is a full fledged war. The method for notifying reserve military personnel of active duty depends on the branch of the military and the type of activation:
    Air Force
Airmen of the Selected Reserve (IMAs and Unit Reservists) must be ready to report within 24 hours of notification. Members of the Pre-trained Individual Manpower, which includes the Individual Ready Reserve, Standby Reserve, and Retired Reserve, must report within 30 days of receiving orders.
    Navy
Sailors in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) are notified by email or written notification from the Navy Personnel Command (NPC).
    Guard Reserve
Reserve component members who are ordered to active duty for more than 30 days should receive at least 30 days' advance notice, ideally 90 days. However, the secretary of defense can waive this requirement during war or a national emergency.

While many of us in the US don't own firearms, many of us who do own a good number of them. I estimate one friend of mine to own 80 to 100 between him and his wife, and they are of all varieties for sporting purposes.
All I will say about myself is that I don't own that many and leave it at that.
One huge security issue we have now is our wide-open borders. Our current president opened them up to anyone and everyone to illegally stream into our country unvetted, unvaccinated, and many are unskilled. We have millions of people from around the world who have literally disappeared into our country, and we have no idea who they are. Many are unaccompanied military aged males from countries of concern like China, Russia, Iran, or wherever, leaving us incredibly vulnerable from within. Something the military will be hard pressed to combat.
All the drugs and human trafficking being brought in just compound the problem.
I'm all for legal immigration by those who respect our laws and preserve our sovereignty, but not for those whose first thing here is to intentionally disrespect and break the law. I was married to a legal Canadian legal alien for 20 years, with no issues about it whatsoever.
Thank you so much Mr. president, and I pray the American people vote you out resoundingly in November for doing this and other such things to our country.

It is not possible to "rank" US military services as they are all part of a combined arms team. The United States Marine Corps gives the United States a extremely valuable additional capability. In a crisis situation, time is of the essence. The Marine Corps is the "911" or "kick down the door" service. They are a combined arms team with land, sea and air capabilities and can engage quickly and with great impact giving the other services, e.g., the United States Army and Air Force, time to deploy for sustained operations. China has a very large and capable military--the difference is, they can't move it beyond their borders. The United Kingdom and France have the ability to deploy to other locations, but no nation can deploy military capability on par with the United States--there's not a remote close second--having 800 installations around the world is a big plus. Military power is of little use if it can't be brought to bear at the point of conflict.

You build aircraft carriers to prevent war and project power, but you win wars with submarines.

The NAVY has things the Air Force doesn't. US Navy SeaBees and USMC. Even if you were to merge them(Air Force) back into the Army from which they came, the combined branches would be numerically more than the Navy, but still inferior in their capabilities, relying on the Navy to put them into position, for after all, the command that is in control over all the logistics of the US Military, is the US Navy.

Keep in mind, that America shares its technology with its allies. I saw where one fighter jet project costs were over a trillion dollars just to develop it. Our allies don't reimburse us for such expenditures, so think of the savings benefits from getting weapon systems from us, that you didn't have to develop and can easily reverse engineer to make your own variety?

I believe you are referring to the F-35 here. Other nations did pitch it, but the US did the majority of the work by a long shot.

We share some but not all. Hence we are the only nation with f-22s. They will not be sold to any other Nation including our allies. There are many other things that we also have never shared with allies and never will.

I feel safe at night. Not because of our amazing military and the men and woman who serve in it. But because this country acknowledges the inalienable rights of self defense and my ability to own firearms to protect myself and my family. God bless The United States 🇺🇸

Maybe I'm just old, but why do U.S Defense videos no longer ever mention that the U.S has the world's biggest Airforce and the world's 2nd biggest Airforce is the U.S Navy?
I mean that seems kinda big, no?

Wrong. Had we been allowed to fight without our hands tied behind our backs. Like not being able to engage back under most circumstances. And were allowed to unleash hell upon Afghanistan, as my Tank Commander Father said "We would have wiped their clock".
