I'm still struggling. I was given a Gibson chanter by a friend and fellow Clan Hay member a week ago. I have been trying to get the low G all week and it comes and goes...mostly goes. I can play low A through the high A without an issue (except the sounds between notes that I am trying to get rid of) . As a school band director, I think it is a matter of not sealing the fingers of the right hand properly, I have checked and rechecked my hand position. As long as my pinkie isn't trying to reach for the G, I do ok. It seems like the pinkie is pulling the other fingers off the holes. Do you have any suggestions for this?
My lower scale (g, a, b, c, d) is significantly higher than the rest of the notes. I have my fingers in the correct position, the holes are properly sealed, and I believe my chanter is assembled correctly. Do you have any idea what would be causing this?
Thanks for focusing on all of the minute details including use of the tartan for steadying the chanter...a challenge for a first time user.
Thank you! Finally hit that low g.
You’re a great teacher. Thank you! I’m nailing low g and low a. I can’t make b to even sound. ?!?

I have the same problem. Have you found the solution?
I agree, the low G note is simple. But it is the main note when you begin. (When he said "students in the past" im his student ;) )
Hey, Xtra. Gotta start simple! Keep practicing!
I can't have all the bottom holes closed and still have my fingers straight because the last hole is too far down. I think my hands are too small :(
Why do Murkans call it Edinbro. ? It's not Bro, bro its bruh.
