I have had it as my home defense weapon for the last 8 years. Great gun, it has fired around 6000 times without a failure and the big, slow, painful 45 round is a stopper for sure.
My best friend since grade school shot my G21 at the range along with his Beretta 40 - he liked the way the Glock felt, and he sold the Beretta. He now shoots with the G21.
I agree with you. I've tuned my recoil springs, upgraded the trigger spring, had a slide milled off, put on the truglo day/night sights, added a ported barrel, stippled the grip & added a green laser. Everybody who shoots it loves that .45. It's by me all night.
I carry my Glock21 concealed appendix style, and keep it as my nightstand gun. I’m 6’6” so it fits me well. The accuracy of this gun is amazing. But it also fits my hand like a glove. Where it may be a tad to big in average size hands. If you love 45acp and want a full-size gun, I highly recommend this beast.
I picked a Gen 3 21SF up last week. Always wanted one. I'd also like an HK45 tactical, but from a cost and firepower point of view, this is still a better gun.
Photo314159 totaly agree with you. think about if you hk somthing breaks in it. and you cant get any local armor to fix so they have to send it off and you have to wait three weeks to get it back. if you have a glock and somthing breaks not only could you fix it yourself. any armorer at a major gun store should be able to repair it on the spot. not to say Hk is bad, just very pricey. thats the worst i can say about it lol
Another BIG plus for the 45acp is the low flash/boom of the standard pressure rounds. Don't want to get blinded when firing inside a dark home at night.
Good caliber to use a suppressor. And in the dark using a flashlight it’s really cool seeing the bullet fly before hitting the target it’s a big ball though. 😊
Yoda The Clover Holder lol printing is a problem 😂😂 the sf is damn near the same size if not but the grip is way more comfortable and doesnt rub as much
@@yodathecloverholder69 the S&W shield is best for conceal and carry but if gonna conceal this?! How I can see you carrying it in sense I use a glock 20 in my car but ion carry it
I just purchased a Glock 21sf and shot it at the range Saturday for the first time, and between my gen4 Glock 17 and my Glock 23, the .45 shoots the best in my opinion. Love the short frame because i don't have big hands. Nice video.
I agree with ur opinion. My everyday carry is the G19 w/RBCD & CarBon high velocity rounds. My home-defense is both the Mossberg 590 12ga. w/pistol grip & the G21. Great video review!
Colion, you're assessment of the G-21 as an ideal home defense weapon is thorough and informative. I would like to add that in recent videos of MARSOC, the sidearm their deploying with appears to be the 1911. Once again, it seems elements of our militarys special operations are relying on America's caliber, the venerable 45acp. You're in good company.
Former Marine here. Nice video. Carried the 1911 and the Beretta 9mm on duty. I always liked the stopping power of the. 45 so I purchased the gen2 21 in 1994. I was 22 at the time. A couple mos later I purchased my dessert eagle .44 mag. I still keep these two trusty guns at my bedside for home defense. I've never upgraded either of the two as I mastered both at a young age and have always been blessed with a talent for accuracy. Now I'm going to make some mods to soften the kick on my gen2 21 because that's always been the issue with that piece. I may sell it for a gen4 but dang thing has sentimental value. The older I get the more I cling, I guess. Semper fi

I wouldn’t sell. If it ain’t break, don’t fix. You are accustomed to use it anyway.
Just purchased a Glock 21 Gen 3 last month and it is NOICE! It's very accurate and reliable plus that full-size grip feels like it was customized for my hand. On the flip side, the Kimber Custom II that I purchased in November was returned to the Yonkers, NY manufacturer for servicing because after over 1000 rounds I still continued to get double feeds. WILL ONLY TRUST THE SECURITY OF MY HOME & FAMILY TO GLOCK!
Hello sir. I had the same problem with the same weapon ( Kimber II ). If you are getting double feeds versus stovepiping, it is likely a broken/damaged extractor. Just trying to help. :)
Appreciate your input Jim T. I have sent the gun back to Kimber in Yonkers, NY and they are currently working on it. Contrary to a few reviews, I found their customer service department to be very cool. I'll let you know if they solved the problem in a few weeks.
I own several firearms including a blue label Gen 4 Glock 21 with Glock night sights. I have it paired with Underwood Xtreme Defender +P ammo. The primary wound channel from those rounds is larger than any fully expanded hollow points in the same caliber. The solid copper projectile is barrier blind but does not over penetrate. Because it is a solid copper round, it is a lighter projectile that has less recoil but much greater velocity of around 1,400 ft/s to 1,450 ft/s. I use that ammo in every handgun that I own but in a .45 ACP, it is unreal. I love that gun and I love that ammo!
Colion, I would have to agree with you on your assessment. The Glock 21 is what I use for home defense. It is as smooth as a .45 caliber handgun can be while in operation. I use Corbon 230 gr JHP as well as Remington 230 gr JHP as defense rounds. I was a police officer in Atlanta for 8 years and my department used the Glock 21sf as our primary service weapon, which is probably the best handgun you can use as a law enforcement officer. Go Glock 21!
Love my G21c. Just added a green Lasermax guide rod laser sight to it as well. Pricey, but like it so far. A laser sight just opens up so many additional home defense benefits and possibilities.
@dominionclerk. To answer you question... GLOCK 17. It was the original Glock, sweet to shoot, 9mm rounds, tons of fun and reliable as hell. Basically an all purpose gun.
I love my Glock 21 and usually carry it when traveling on trips and driving but never crossed my mind as a home defense gun, until now. I like the video and you made some good points. The feel on the 21 in your hand, it just feels strong. Nice video
This is one of the best RUclips videos I've ever watched. No production; straight to the point. I experimenting with carrying this full time replacing my g27. I'm not a "fat" guy but I do have a gut. That helps conceal it with a good belt and good iwb holster.
Great video and information! Partly due to this video, I chose the Glock 21 Gen 4 for home defense, with a TLR-6 light/laser combo. For a pistol, the stopping power of the 45 is hard to beat and the 13 rounds of the G21 is the icing on the cake. Added to that, it has a rail for a light/laser, because you should not blindly shoot at noises in the dark. You need to identify your target. I prefer pistol over a shotgun, because I have a young one and I figure, worst case, I can aim high and I'm not worried about hitting the kid if she happens to be behind the target.
Great video and spot on with the commentary. I was LEO back in the early 90's when a Glock dealer came out to demo his "wares" during qualification. He pulled out a G21, slammed in a mag, dropped it on the asphalt and then gave it a kick across the range into the dirt. Ran over, picked it and then did a mag dump. Impressed me and I ended up selling my Series 70 Colt and ordered a G21 for duty use. Still have it and it is still one of my favorites...although wished I still had my Colt.. :-(
Michael, those two are precisely what I have. What holsters are you using and how are you carrying both. I like Galco holsters. I've been carrying my 30S as primary instead of the 21 only because I haven't found the right concealable 21 holster OWB. I'd like to carry the 30S ankle as back up but nobody makes anything for it. I'm interested in your holsters system. Mind sharing details?
Great review on the Glock 21. I own a Glock 21 and have owned a 20 in the past, love them both. I recently purchased a Just Right Carbine to go with my 21. It has been upgraded by the factory to correct feeding issues, and their service dept. is second to none in my opinion. The carbine and my Glock use the same magazines which in my opinion is fantastic. Really enjoy both weapons and the carbine might be even better for home defense.
Honest , upfront review . I own a 3rd gen just because it is what it is - utterly reliable . My everyday carry is a Rock Island Officer's Compact that I have Dura-coated w/ self lubricating to make her almost maintenance free . Like my Glock - it eats everything I feed her without question or hiccup . I've also been known to " tote " a 4" Stainless Taurus Tracker .44 magnum with my special handloads ( 180grn lead hollow cavaties over 6.5 grains of Titegroup for a MV ~ 1150 fps ), depending on the time of year and what I'm wearing . Congrats on a nice post . I enjoyed your comments .
I have a Glock 21 with a streamlight tactical light for my nightstand gun. I purchased this pistol cheap because it was a Gen2 with a faulty 10 round mag and a new york 8lb trigger. I took the pistol to Glock (I live in Atlanta) and they changed the frame to a Gen3 complete with 5.5 lb trigger, all new slide internals, new guide rod and spring, extended slide release AND and 13 round mag for $100...all while I waited 45 minutes in their waiting room. I'm a Glock customer for life! Great review!
My first .45 ACP was a Colt Government Model, Series 70 (and I still have it), but I recently picked up a G21SF to compare the younger generation to the older generation. Both would put a major hurt on an unwelcome visitor with a Mozambique response. I do like the additional three rounds in the G21SF for home defense, but would not want carry it daily due to the weight. Nice video. Thanks for sharing it.
I have 3 glock 21's. 1 under my pillow, 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the office drawer. An AK folder in the upstairs bedroom drawer and a mini 14 ranch behind the door. If that doesn't do it, I can retrieve any number of machetes or polymer handle axes from the garage and get medieval on his/her ass. ;-} - seriously!
The .45 acp is my favorite handgun cartridge simply because of the stopping power. For those that want a lil more muzzle velocity, u can get them in 165 or 185 grain vice the more common 230 grain. I personally own the Gen 3 Glock 21.
Very nice review, good points and well put together.I tend to reccomend the Gloock 17/19 to newer defensive shooters mainly due to to cheaper ammo. Thought being typical person will spend about the same amount of money on ammo regardless of caliber, thus with the 9mm they will tend to fire and train about twice as much as they would with the 45 (as 9mm's roughly half the cost of 45's). Could be faulty logic on my part though ;) Still you make an excellent case for the G21.
Your 100% correct the glack 21 has the punch power and 13 round it save me on one gun confrontation no safety to remember just point and shoot , when on a gun fights you don't have time to remember only react.
My gen4 Glock 21 is my do it all gun. It serves for home defense at night, it serves as my conceal Cary every day (yes I do carry this beast IWB everyday) it also serves as my deer hunting pistol as long as I keep shots under 20 yards. Love the 21, I have had almost every glock and it is by far my favorite.
I recently bought a used (never been fire) gen4 21 for 350.00 . It did take me about 700 rounds to learn how to shoot it . Once I figured it out I found it to be very accurate. Now I have well over 2,000 rounds through it, not one malfunction of any kind . This pistol eats anything, cheap ammo, defense rounds and hardball. This is an awesome pistol. As for home defense it would serve as a backup to a shotgun.
I absolutely agree with you 100%! My girl just bought a 21 SF after shooting a 1911...A little research brought her to the Glock side. Coming off a revolver, I found the Glock grip angle very natural! I've ordered mine, and am waiting on it. A perfect combination of caliber, and size!
Thank you MrColionNori for your take on the G21. :) If any one is concerned about the "size", the gun is also available in the G21sf (short frame) and now the Gen4 which both offer smaller circumference around the grip.
I've had my 21SF. since 2010 great gun... home defense and Man stopper extraordinaire... Holllowpoints or FMJ. Hard to beat the .45ACP. Even when urbina the woods with wildlife all around u the .45 still is a great defender from 4 legged or 2 legged predators...
Since I live in New Jersey, handguns are becoming increasingly more difficult to obtain so I wanted to make sure I get the perfect one and I think you just sold me on this one. Thanks for the great info.
I agree with your assessment. I know the ballistics with the common defense calibers are pretty close but IMO it seems the 45 acp pistol gives you an edge in a home defense situation. Just make sure your magazines are loaded with high quality hollow points.
I bought a used Glock 21 in 1998 to carry as a reserve police officer. I bought it off of a Federal deputy marshal bailiff. In 2002, I bought a new Glock 30 since it will accept the Glock 21 mags. I have never been disappointed with either weapon.
My wife owns a 21 she bought when we lived in Ca, for recreational shooting. We now live in Texas, and she bought a Shield for concealed carry. Now, she is carrying that big old 21 IWB with no problems!
Very good choice. My wife tends to use a Stoeger 410 side by side, and a Taurus 7 shot 357. She can hit with the Taurus spent 410 shells at 20 yards. I tend to have a Glock 35 with hornady and a streamlight flashlight, burglar alarm, cell phone for 911, and a safe room retreat plan per NRA training. I use an 870 tactical with extra shells on it backed up with a Mossberg 500.
I was trained by Col. Jeff Cooper back in the 70s. As you probably know, the Col. developed the "Modern Technique" for defensive handgun use. The 1911 in 45 acp turned out to be the best gun/caliber to meet the DVC balance, Accuracy (combat), Power (high probabilty of a one shot stop), Speed (how fast can you get the it into operation and controlled follow on shots). The Glock 21 did not exist at the time of his research but I do believe the Glock 21 is a worthy successor to the 1911 and I have made the transition myself. I use a 21 for home defense and feel quite well armed to handle most any situation where a handgun is called for.
Never met Col. Cooper but have read much of what he wrote about the 1911, 45 ACP & self defense. I've taken these lessons to heart (try to, anyway). Fired the 1911 in basic training & was hooked but didn't buy my first handgun until 15 years after I was discharged, which turned out be a 1911. Shot & carried it everyday since so a 1911 function is second nature to me. Heard mixed stories about Glocks, not sure I ever wanted to own one. Had a chance to shoot a G17 some years back. I like the simplicity of a Glock but I'm not a 9MM fan. Bought my own G21 this past summer & have since put about 700 rounds downrange with it. It's a good shooter & even loaded, it's still lighter than a 5" 1911. But a Glock trigger sucks. Not nearly as crisp & clean as a 1911 trigger. I will always carry a 1911 for self defense outside my home, but the G21 has become my HD gun. I like the idea of extra capacity without having to fumble for extra mags, not to mention having a rail mounted light. I keep it right next to my 12ga coach.
James Robinson Thanks for the reply email. I have been a dedicated 1911 person since the 1970s however, in 2010 I decided to expand my horizons a bit and purchased a Springfield XD45 Compact. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the gun shot as well as how comfortable it was in my hand. My future wife (now my wife) had a Glock 23 as a result of her last husbands death. Being from New York City origionally she had no interest in guns so I traded her some tires, a stom door, etc for the G23. I also have very large hands and the G23 frame was just too small for me as well as being chambered in 40 cal so I traded it for a G21. When I first shot it,I had exactly the same reaction to the trigger as you but it only took a dozen rounds or so to re-adjust my finger position on the trigger to compensate. Since Col. Cooper drilled his students on the importance of the front sight, I found that concentrating on it made the trigger shortcomings just go away. I had also found that shooting under heavy stress, I really don't hear much, feel nothing, and have to continually fight tunnel vision. I think I could bend a piece of 1/2" rebar with my trigger finger under that kind of stress so the G21 trigger pull is nothing. Now I find the G21 to be a joy to shoot and it has become my home defense gun and I too have a streamlight attached to the equipment rail. Because of it's size it is not my daily carry. I found the XD-s in 45acp to be perfect for me for concealment and comfort. It has replaced my Commander for this role. Best wishes and enjoy the holidays.
I am an owner of a glock 21, and you sir hit the nail on the head. Very accurate for a large caliber, with a surprisingly moderate recoil, and decent magazine capasity. Some people say caliber size is arguable and any hand gun serves as a good home defense weapon. Personally and its just my oppinion, .45 ACP/AUTO one and done. The bigger the round the harder they fall
Bought my 21 a few months ago. This vid reinforces my decision, as does the facts that they are now so scarce amid the hysteria! Nice vid - I shoulda bought two.
I love my Glock 30s for carry, and I have a Glock 22 for home defense along with my Mossberg 500, but a Glock 21 is going to be my next purchase for sure.
@Tony Tomoredjo Maybe throwing it is dumb, but I would rather have a hunk of metal (like an empty 1911) in my hands than nothing if i had to go hand to hand combat with an intruder. Pistol whipping them is going to be much more effective than punching.
Tony Tomoredjo so you would rather start a fight empty handed than with a four pound metal object? You do you bro. I’m not recommending this course of action, just starting my preference.
Ambos temibles calibres defensivos. Gracias por compartir. Desde argentina saludos para todos los pistoleros...✌️
OH REALLY? I use to be a competitive shooter and I know you're FOS. You can't even see 10" plates at 25yds with stock sights. .150 front sights on 10" plates you have just enough to see the plates.
@@muhammadsteinberg it’s actually a fact east coast I’d say northern Virginia don’t know all the details yet but it’s going to be a Glock match and I’ll be there. I’ve been a competitive shooter for 6 years now why would I troll ? I own two g21’s one is factory and the other one is been worked on. I mainly run my 1911
TEN YEARS LATER - The Glock21 is my only Glock and it is indeed my nightstand handgun and I too am a 45 guy with four of America's Caliber in my arsenal. Love Your Stuff, Sir!!!
here's my 2 cents, Just picked up a Glock 21 3 weeks back ,I wanted a good range gun other than my 1911 that i could shoot the crap out of ,I could not believe how accurate this gun is ! and the recoil was very controllable plus the thirteen rounds,My EDC guns are G19, G26, XD-9 subcompact !
I strongly agree I carry a Glock 30s as my daily carry however, for home defense and nightstand gun you can't go wrong with the Glock 21. It may not be perfect for an individual with smaller hands but give it a try before ruling it out for home defense. From a cost factor and round capacity of 13+1 you can't go wrong also you have many options to tune and customize your Glock 21 to make it the perfect tool for protecting your home and loved ones. Nice job on the review!
Late to the party. Sorry. Before the CV shutdown, I owned a .45 from Ruger that I loved. It blew up in my hand (fortunately no damage to said hand). I was (before this CV stuff) going to attend a fire-arms course with the .45 as my back-up weapon. When it blew up, (after realizing that I still have all of my digits, face, and such) I realized that I still needed a .45...At my local gun shop, I held a Glock 21 and a Springfield XDS. In case you don't know, the Springfield XDS is a concealable weapon. The Glock 21 is a full frame weapon. I chose the XDS. I'm going to go back and buy the Glock 21 Gen 4. The XDS is a fine fire-arm, but after shooting it and comparing the trigger to my Gen 1 Glock 17...I'm becoming a Glock enthusiast (sweet trigger action). I just hope my gun shop still has that 21 gen 4.
Just bought a 21 and am waiting for the paper work right now. I have only fired the 17, 19, and 20, but the 21 fits my hands correctly. Being that I am 6'2'' and 230 lbs most handgun grips are just too small for me. I can't wait to take it to the range!
The 30S can accept G21 mags. Add the grip spacer and you have the same capacity and grip as the 21 with the option of using smaller mags for concealed carry when needed.
I own a glock 26 for cc and glock 21 for home defense and love both. Neither have ever jammed on me. I agree with everything u said in this video. I feel confident with my G21.
i picked up a G1SF for 399 as a police trade in years ago, just replace the springs and its a new gun. still had the powder from the range on it. they dont clean em sometimes. new they were like 589+. it shoots as a g23 does. not as slamming as a 1911. its a big gun
Just purchased a G21SF for the purpose of home defense. I replaced the stock sights w/Truglo Brite Site TFO's & will be picking up a tac light to complete the perfect home defense handgun package. The G21SF replaced a Sig Sauer P250C 9mm, though it still rests nearby.
I agree with your opinions of the Glock 21, and your comments about 9mm's. You always do a superior job of representing gun owners in an intelligent manner. Don't lose your sense of hummer either. Thanks.
And btw, I am glad to see a black man give an articulate, intelligent and in depth discussion of home defense and reasonable force. Too many guys get on here and want to be "gangsta", to be cool & macho, rather than give what you did - a worthy discussion that could be posted on Guns & Ammo or other commercial publication. Way to represent :)
Colion Noir- I live in NY and here you can not have more than a 10 round magazine. In this video the 21 having a 13 round capacity was a selling point for your opinion. That being said, if you only had a 10 round option like I do would you still go with the 21 or maybe the 30 instead? Great video btw.
Nice review. I have a G21 and love it. 13+1 of .45 ACP should be enough for any defensive encounter one may have. Take care and keep up the great work!
Easy, Glock G20... All this talking about calibers and HD/SD capability no mention of 10mm Auto??? The G21's best feature is the ability to run a 10mm (and litteraly every other caliber Glocks come in for that matter) conversion first and as a .45ACP second. There's an AR close at hand in my house, but the 10mm G20/TLR-3 is a cream-puff to shoot and a monster waiting to be let off the leash.
Well said! I live in a bad neighborhood and sleep with my Glock 21 Gen 4, right next to my bed in my nightstand drawer! Also, the G21 has the great initial power, but it dissipates somewhat quickly giving you the ease of mind when it comes to overpenetration. It's the best all around defense handgun! Why do you think our troops are asking for the old 1911s to replace their issued 9 millimeters? The 9mm just doesn't have the stopping power that the big .45 does in combat!
I don't care much about what soldiers want in a handgun. Pistols aren't used enough in combat to justify the expense of refitting a whole service. Select units, sure. The whole military? No need.
Exterminence Hey, imagine that, so am I. 39 months in Iraq, as an MP, with an M9 among other weapons. How many times did I use my M9? Not once. No need. I carried an M4/M203 and had all sorts of other weapons in and on the trucks. Do they get used? Yeah, sometimes. But the hardware is not as important as the software (The shooter). I could go into a big long rant about how I'm a pistol instructor with the MP school and how I see hundreds of drill sergeants come through every year telling their privates dumb shit that doesn't work as well as the stuff we teach them, and that no matter what gun you give a soldier, that soldier is typically not well-trained enough to use it to its maximum effectiveness and therefore the opinions of soldiers on what makes a good pistol is largely irrelevant, but I won't say all that, because it'd just turn into a short-arm inspection.
Sckarekrow I like it. Before I changed over to the dark side and became an MP, I was a grunt for a bit under five years and I used to say no matter what else anyone may think we do, our first job is to kill people, break things, and blow shit up. The "break things" part really got used on our own equipment.
Exterminence No, not my dad. He was in Desert Storm, though. Hey, good job being ADA. The slide breakage has been fixed for years now. Good job with the vast amount of combat experience you have with the M9. I don't give a shit what war you were or weren't in, or when you served or didn't serve. I respect anyone who puts on the uniform and consider them my brothers and sisters, even to the point that my son calls my buddies aunt and uncle when they come over. Being in the military doesn't automatically grant someone knowledge on the subject at hand. I would defer to your wisdom if we were talking about patriots or avengers. For the M9, I'll take my 14 years as an MP carrying and shooting them, three years as a pistol instructor using the M9 in all weather conditions, and the fact that I've owned one for over ten years now.
Exterminence My very first pistol was a Taurus PT-92, the old one with the frame mounted safety, before they added the decocker. I got it for my 20th birthday from an army buddy in Ft Campbell, and in the time I had it, I fired close to 15,000 rounds through it. This was back in the days when you could get a 100 round Winchester value pack of 9mm for 11.34 at Wal-Mart. I"m sure I had malfunctions in that time, but the only two I remember were when I fired Simmunitions rounds through it without an adapter kit. I have a Glock 41 and that is the softest-shooting .45 I have ever fired. I have a video on You Tube of me doing a mag dump in a 3/4 steel head and torso target at about ten yard in I think 4.48 seconds with all hits with that thing. I haven't used Buffalo Bore yet, I still have some old 185 gr Winchester Silvertips
sir you speak so clear. English is my second language and sometimes i have a hard time understanding reviews. yours was clear and perfect speed. awesome video thanks
***** I hav a semiauto but I'd rather have a pump because u know when another round is chambered. there's little chance of no ejection or a round not loading.
Pump. Because with training, just as fast, easier to deal with jams and other shit when it happens, and when I look at the price tag, between a reliable, quality pump and the same in a semi auto... I'd rather go pump, polish the rails and go.
You're certainly right about prefering a shotgun over a pistol in the home, but the point of the video is the viability of the G21 when the discussion is handguns
One more thought(or answer to your last question really): my idea of the best home defense handgun has been a 4” 357 mag revolver. Or my 4” Redhawk 45 Colt loaded with handloads consisting of a 250gr XTP pushed to 1180 with 800x powder. Potent but easy to control(in that beefy handgun). 45 Colt is my number 1 fave, 357mag 2nd & 10mm 3rd. It’s a wonder I’m only just now working with the 45 ACP. And I’m loving it. Again, in general, I’ve recommended the 357 revolver as the best home defense handgun for decades. That may soon change in testing. Thanks again for the great video
let me tell you last week i got to shoot the g21 for the first time and my experience was Amazing what a Soft shooter it is, for a .45 shoots Amazing i highly recommend it. i love it
I just never understood how people talk about the .40 S&W like it kicks like a mule. I shoot a ton and happen to love .40. Sure, it's snappy, but if you have testicles you should be able to handle it. It makes no sense when people bitch about the .40 while they have +p+ Buffalo Bore in their .45s and 9mms....
Justin Clark that full size frame does an amazing job of soaking up the recoil from 230 cartridge, it really isn't big and bulky for nothing. If you haven't, try and get a head to head comparison when you can, the G21 just may suprise you. cheers
The 40 is one of my favorite calibers for home defense. It is ballistically superior to the 9mm and the 45acp in terms of kinetic energy transfer. Capacity wise, its good to go as well. I swear by the 9mm for CC or the 45 for CC if you're rockin a single stack. Long story short, I completely agree with you man.
Ehh....it's just preference of the kind of kick, 40 snaps from side to side like a more mild 357 while 45 just pushes straight back and is more predictable.
G21SF is my baby. Can't imagine choosing another one if I was forced to choose only one. 13 rounds is only -2 of that of the G19 and with an extension can be equal to or +1. GTL 22 and my G21SF is my home defense go to. An AR is there if the situation arises where I need it, but for mobility, house search and stopping power I love my set up. Great video Colion, keep up the great work.
I agree with you on your choice of the Glock 21. I have a Glock 23 for carry, but for home, I want something a little more substantial. I do have a .44 mag., but that is a bit much. I prefer a .45 a.c.p. and, or a 12 ga. shotgun. 00 buck sounds macho, but have you ever seen what number 7 shot does across the room? Even across the yard. What ever you have, practice with it. Practice a LOT!
I have the 21 and use it for home defense and EDOC, very satisfied. The capacity of 13+1 of 45auto is also outstanding as well. Great vid!
I have had it as my home defense weapon for the last 8 years. Great gun, it has fired around 6000 times without a failure and the big, slow, painful 45 round is a stopper for sure.
The recoil is a thud and I personal love how follow up shots work. My first handgun was a glock 21 and I still have it. Love this gun
Just got my first gun today. It's a Glock 21 🎉

My best friend since grade school shot my G21 at the range along with his Beretta 40 - he liked the way the Glock felt, and he sold the Beretta. He now shoots with the G21.
I've had my Glock 21 for almost 15 yrs. Works every time! I also own a 30 which I use for conceal carry. The reliability is remarkable.

I love Glock triggers. I shoot My Glock 21 better than My HK USP.45
Plus .45 Auto goes great with suppressors. Won't blow your ears out if you do have to use it in the home.
+Alex Moore Yes. Subsonic FTW !
1. what is best suppressor for 21? 2. is there any truth to needing an alternate recoil spring due to the way suppressors influence recoil?
Thread those barrels.
The glock 21 gen 3 is my home defense gun and also my everyday carry.

I just purchased a Glock 21sf and shot it at the range Saturday for the first time, and between my gen4 Glock 17 and my Glock 23, the .45 shoots the best in my opinion. Love the short frame because i don't have big hands. Nice video.
Glock 21 is the first .45 I ever fired and it was a lot more fun and controllable then a M&P 40. And not as bad of a snap on my wrist
I agree with ur opinion. My everyday carry is the G19 w/RBCD & CarBon high velocity rounds. My home-defense is both the Mossberg 590 12ga. w/pistol grip & the G21. Great video review!
That's such an intuitive set up
Colion, you're assessment of the G-21 as an ideal home defense weapon is thorough and informative.

Same here in Arizona. No need for a CCW license
Same in NH now. No silly knife laws either. Love my 21.
Oh. Also the .45 using Plus P gets you almost as much velocity and lbs energy as a 10mm. I called Glock and they gave the OK to use +P Ammo.
Only with the right ammo. 230 gr won't get you high enough velocity.
You made fine arguments for all popular calibers. You can hardly go wrong with 9mm, .40 S&W, or a .45. I'm also a Glock diehard fan.
@dominionclerk. To answer you question... GLOCK 17. It was the original Glock, sweet to shoot, 9mm rounds, tons of fun and reliable as hell. Basically an all purpose gun.
Man, your videos have come a long way, bro. But the content here is still right on target.
Punny
Glock 21 and 20 are my go to night guns. Agree and with some of the ammo you can buy the issues wth multiple wall penetration is lowered.
Barry Newman my glock 21 is my glock 20... thanks to bar_sto:)
I carry a Glock 21 gen4 as my primary and a Glock 30s as my backup gun. Inside and outside of my house.
Michael Tuber Awseome.
Michael Tuber what's your thoughts on the glock 43?
Fuck that's wayyy too much for me to keep on my person, lol
You can get any custom maker to make a ankle bolster for anything.
I love your common sense approach to firearms and defence caliberss and totally agree on your choice of the glock 21 hell of a gun.
I've also been known to " tote " a 4" Stainless Taurus Tracker .44 magnum with my special handloads ( 180grn lead hollow cavaties over 6.5 grains of Titegroup for a MV ~ 1150 fps ), depending on the time of year and what I'm wearing .
Could be faulty logic on my part though ;)
Still you make an excellent case for the G21.
Just bought the G41 gen 4. It fits very nicely in my hand. I used to shoot the 1911 in competition and hope this will be as good as advertised.

Its amazing just to see how far you've come since 2011. Keep on rocking colion noir.
I like the 21 so much that I have 2 of them,. g21 SF and g21 c.
which one is more comfortable to shoot?
I absolutely agree with you 100%! My girl just bought a 21 SF after shooting a 1911...A little research brought her to the Glock side. Coming off a revolver, I found the Glock grip angle very natural! I've ordered mine, and am waiting on it. A perfect combination of caliber, and size!
G21 has been my open carry and bedside gun for ever. Love my G42 for conciel carry. I own several Glocks and by far the 21 is my favorite to shoot.
Just make sure your magazines are loaded with high quality hollow points.
yup
I bought a used Glock 21 in 1998 to carry as a reserve police officer. I bought it off of a Federal deputy marshal bailiff. In 2002, I bought a new Glock 30 since it will accept the Glock 21 mags. I have never been disappointed with either weapon.
My wife owns a 21 she bought when we lived in Ca, for recreational shooting. We now live in Texas, and she bought a Shield for concealed carry. Now, she is carrying that big old 21 IWB with no problems!
She must be huge!
@@zncuentertainment712 Some people are into that 🤣🤣
She carries a full on riot shield with her?

Thanks for the reply email.
COACH! Luv it! I have a CZ Coach (00 buck) 18" from my light-equipped Glock. What do you think of six-shot for home defense out of a coach?
I am an owner of a glock 21, and you sir hit the nail on the head. Very accurate for a large caliber, with a surprisingly moderate recoil, and decent magazine capasity. Some people say caliber size is arguable and any hand gun serves as a good home defense weapon. Personally and its just my oppinion, .45 ACP/AUTO one and done. The bigger the round the harder they fall
I keep a Glock 30 on my night stand with a 21 magazine. Can't go wrong with the .45.
You are right on, reliable, powerful, high capacity, accurate, and easy to shoot. Thanks
The best home defense handgun is a hi-point. When if runs out of bullets or jams, you can throw it like the brick 🧱 that it is at the intruder
Tony Tomoredjo I don’t have any hamdguns. Where can I get one? I want to try one. Thanks
@Tony Tomoredjo Maybe throwing it is dumb, but I would rather have a hunk of metal (like an empty 1911) in my hands than nothing if i had to go hand to hand combat with an intruder. Pistol whipping them is going to be much more effective than punching.
Well, there's a reason they call it the "YEET Cannon."
Tony Tomoredjo so you would rather start a fight empty handed than with a four pound metal object? You do you bro. I’m not recommending this course of action, just starting my preference.

Agreed love .45 auto, in the market for a 21sf
GLOCK 20 :) one of the best too
Just bought a 21 and am waiting for the paper work right now.
My Glock 21 is my "go to" home defense pistol. Reliability, stopping power, fit and how well I shoot it are my reasons. Good video, thanks.
Glock 21 recoil is like a push instead of a snap, like with a .40 or 10mm.

i picked up a G1SF for 399 as a police trade in years ago, just replace the springs and its a new gun. still had the powder from the range on it. they dont clean em sometimes. new they were like 589+. it shoots as a g23 does. not as slamming as a 1911. its a big gun
I love .45 cal & .40
I live in CA and 10 plus one mag is legal. Sorry for late entry.
I live in CA and have on hold a Glock 21 Gen2 10rnds have been thru it.. Gotta Love 1911 fans who try something new and don't like it.
The Glock 21 is my favorite home defense and range pistol. Your videos are good, thanks
Whats your thoughts on 10mm for home defense?
10mm is better for the woods. if thats what you have, it will work fine for home defense
Not intended for home defense. It’s meant for grizz in the back country.
sir you speak so clear. English is my second language and sometimes i have a hard time understanding reviews. yours was clear and perfect speed. awesome video thanks
if im in my home when an intruder breaks in i dont want a handgun at all. i want an 18 inch 12 guage pump with 00 buck and a good light
***** I hav a semiauto but I'd rather have a pump because u know when another round is chambered. there's little chance of no ejection or a round not loading.
Texas Slim Depends. I shoot beretta semi autos and I've never had one jam. I've shot benellis, remington, mossberg, pumps that have acted up.
Pump. Because with training, just as fast, easier to deal with jams and other shit when it happens, and when I look at the price tag, between a reliable, quality pump and the same in a semi auto... I'd rather go pump, polish the rails and go.
Guess I wouldn't have any experience at all with a jam in a beretta semi auto.
You're certainly right about prefering a shotgun over a pistol in the home, but the point of the video is the viability of the G21 when the discussion is handguns
Wow!! Colion.. You have progressed tremendously over the years. Respect ✊🏼
At 6:07, you started to call the G21 a G4....but corrected yourself to say 21.
Who knew that 2 1/2 years later there would be an actual G41. Good Call
Nice!! Review, i just picked up a New Glock 21 gen 4 but still haven't take it to the Gun Range yet.
***** Congrats
Conroy Dennis thanks
: )
+skione n Do u like it? I am considering buying one
let me tell you last week i got to shoot the g21 for the first time and my experience was Amazing what a Soft shooter it is, for a .45 shoots Amazing i highly recommend it. i love it
I am glad to finally hear someone talk about the stopping power of the .45 for home defense!! My G21 G4 is my EDC pistol of choice!!!
Ehh....it's just preference of the kind of kick, 40 snaps from side to side like a more mild 357 while 45 just pushes straight back and is more predictable.
flashfire201 roblox Legos and more! .40 is a trash ass round for trash ass shooters. Real men shoot 10mm. 🤫
Great video Colion, keep up the great work.
salute from Stockton Cali " 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫
Definitely need a good home defense weapon in the 209
I agree with you on your choice of the Glock 21.
