      With a factory .45acp defense or duty round- 2024 you should get excellent ballistics from a .45acp load. I carry either 185gr +P JHPs or +P 230gr JHPs- Federal HST. Most .45 rounds are slower: muzzle vel but the 🥊 KE level, bullet-JHP size make up for it.

    I recently procured a G21ST Gen 3 - LE trade-in with night sights - in Excellent condition - doesn't even look like it was issued. Great price. The one detriment was it came with a 12 lb NY trigger. But I've fixed that an it's got a stock trigger pull now. Shoots great and no ftfs. @@antilaw9911 yeah.... you should've tried the sf or gen 4 before you bought the S. The S uses a Glock 36 slide which makes it lighter to carry, but, you feel all that recoil throughout your hand. Whereas with the SF or gen 4, the thicker slide helps a lot to reduce that felt recoil. I know this myself because I had shot the s and HATED it, then tried the Gen 4 and had a new found love for the Glock 30 again.

    The second Glock that I ever bought was a blue label, Gen IV, Glock 21 with factory night sights.
    The ammo that I use with it is the Underwood Xtreme Defender +P rounds. They are a solid copper projectile that are only 120 grains but produce an advertised velocity of 1,420 ft/s with 537 lbs. of energy. Although Underwood, usually loads their bullets slightly more hot than advertised velocity.
    The ammo, when paired with my G21, produces some amazing results. The copper projectile has flutes cut into it. It makes the bullet look like a Phillips head screwdriver bit with the tip cut off. Those flutes produce massive damage and completely destroy bone, muscle, and tissue and produce a larger primary wound channel over any fully expanded hollow point bullet. The bullets have less recoil, shoot more straight, even at greater distances and dump all their energy almost immediately into their target/threat but they do not over penetrate. The Underwood Xtreme Penetrator rounds will over penetrate but the Xtreme Defender bullet has a very minimal chance of doing so.

      @dontdenymyrighteousnesstru5608 6 лет назад +6

      jeremy badger you can say you don't like the weapon. But don't call it a piece of junk. In 10 years thousands of rounds through it never one hiccup. This is a fighting pistol that holds 14 rounds of 45. For a handgun that is very formidable. I have several Glocks. The only thing I ever had go wrong I broke the magazine release on my 21 at n outdoor range trying to Quick Draw. It was totally my fault and it slammed very hard into concrete. I would never do a three gun competition with a Glock. But I would go to war with one. You cannot call it junk there's a reason why 65% of law enforcement use them. They're not even my favorite brand of firearm. But one would be foolish to say they're not good. You probably don't like Honda because it's not American. But Honda puts out better cars than we do. You see I don't like Tom Brady but I know he's great. You may not like something but you have to give them their P's. I'm a Mossberg 590 man. But I know the Remington 870 is a great shotgun in its own right. You see where I'm going with this. You have to give respect where respect is due, if I could leave you with this get out there and shoot. Don't go by what people tell you experience firearms and see which one is best for you. But do your research.

    • @jeremybadger2708
      @jeremybadger2708 6 лет назад

      You are correct with everything you said there, I don't disagree. What I probably should have said was MY GLOCK 21 is a piece of junk. From brand new on its 12th round it failed to eject. Every shot that did fire threw the hot brass in my face, on my arm or down my collar. One even landed between my brow and shooting glasses. Not fun. In its first 200 rounds it has failed to eject or failed to feed about 2 dozen times. I eventually wanted to get a G17 but after getting a lemon from a company who's motto is glock perfection there's no way I'd spend $700-$1000 on another glock . If any of my friends asked for my opinion on what to buy as their first or tenth pistol I couldn't in good conscience recommend a glock.

    • @dontdenymyrighteousnesstru5608
      @dontdenymyrighteousnesstru5608 6 лет назад +1

      jeremy badger my friend you were just unfortunate and got a lemon. Sometimes in the manufacturing process this happens. My Glock 19, 20 and 21 we're all under $600. If you pay $700 you have severely overpaid. Don't want to sound like a Glock fanboy. I am just a realist. Yes you need to replace the sights they are God awful. You can also replace the trigger to make the weapon run at its peak.

    • @jeremybadger2708
      @jeremybadger2708 6 лет назад +1

      I'm Canadian, lol, we overpay for everything. Most big name pistols average $1000 here, 1911's are more, sigs can reach $1500.

    The 21 is lighter for two reasons. The slide is lighter as you mentioned, as is the barrel. I have been shooting G20’s for two decades. Picked up my G21 about five years ago. I hate to admit it, besides for hogs, I prefer the 21. It balances better for me. Nice review. This is part of my Saturday, what was true 3 years ago is true today.

    Very educational video. I carry a G21 Gen 4 everyday on duty and wouldn’t trade it for anything. A lot of the younger officers want us to switch to 9mm. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, my preference will always be 45 ACP.

      They wanted 10mm bc .38spl not strong enough.
      Got the 10mm
      Too much recoil.
      Swapped to the .40
      Too much recoil.
      Now swapping to the 9mm.
      What next? 9mm too much recoil too? Cops will be carrying .380s and .22lr soon bc recoil is smooth.
      Lol just carry the biggest hole puncher you can carry and use effectively.
      With some training and recoil management, you can be just as good with a 45 as a 9mm but with more metal flying

    With the use of the right Ammo 30s will shoot( accuracy ) the same or better than a g21 . Yes the 230 grain bullet in the 30s will push alittle hard back into the hand , but with any respectable self defense round ranging from 155 to 185 grain bullet , almost feels in hand like hot 9mm plus p round or stock 40 s&w . Some folks just give up because they don’t explore other rounds out of the 30s . The 21 feels pretty much the same with any 45acp round that’s the genius of g. Glock . K Two of three law enforcement agencies in my area still carry the g21 gen 4 and refuse to go to the trending 9mm , they simply don’t see the need .

    I just bought a G21Gen4, a police buyback. I have limited experience with.45 acp, but I’d rented three models of Glocks in 45 and settled on the 21 as the easiest to shoot as recoil is so manageable. My first range session was at shorter distances than the podcaster, but the pistol’s accuracy was great. Safe to say that the Glock 21 does what it does better than I do what I do. 🤓

    A Colt 1911 Gov't model
    An AMT Hardballer
    An Auto Ordinance 1911BKO
    A Para Ordinance 96747
    I've fired a S&W M&P45.
    I currently own a Glock 21 Gen 4.
    I appreciate the 1911's for their merits. HOWEVER, to me the Glock 21 makes them all 2nd rate at best. Glocks are SO ACCURATE for my hand! SO EASY to control! SO EASY to clean. SO RELIABLE!
    They're not for everyone's hand of course (large frame). And some folks do not like the striker fired pistols. (Strikers feel a little different.....don't they.) But in my hand, this gun is the best I've owned. (Yeah yeah.... the slide release is tiny. And since I grew-up on 1911's I use them. So I got a real one. The take-down lever is tiny. So I got a real one. The rigger pull kinda sucks. So I got a 3.5 lb diamond Transfer bar. Oh, and the barrel has ammo restrictions. So I got a lone wolf barrel. That's a lot to change I know. But it's worth every penny.) I can hit a 6" circle at 50 feet all day long without much effort with any factory ammo I've tried.
    Glock will probably become the new 1911 for many of the armed forces and civilians. It certainly is for me.

    Hate to be "that guy" and point this out but actually the reason the 21 weighs slightly less than the 20 is the walls of the barrel of the 20 are thicker. Literally everything else is exactly the same, including the hole in the end of the slide therefor with a smaller round diameter the barrel walls are thicker resulting in the higher weight.
