At the time, Advent was owned by Jensen. I had a set of the Advent 6.5" speakers in the doors on my truck. They had what looked like a clear plastic whizzer cone and a gold chrome "phase plug" with a small hole at the tip. They sounded pretty good. I bought them at Silo back then. My best friend ended up with 2 of the Advent 10" subwoofers in his Camaro several years later too.

    • @envisionelectronics

It was the ICT (inductively coupled tweeter) speaker and that was an actual tweeter down inside coupled to the voice coil of the woofer. I sold them at the time and I don’t think they sounded that great.

I still have a pair of 6x9 and 5x7 ict advents that I bought in 91. They need refoamed but they we're great speaker's. They are still the only car speaker's I've ever seen with the tweeter firing the same time as the woofer. Much like KEF home speaker's.

It's funny how just looking at the line inputs, gains and speaker connections you instantly see the Korean layout like in targa and urban audio. It did surprisingly well considering other Korean amps of the time.
I have a pair of advent 6x9s that I need to refoam. I bought them at a garage sale as I had no idea they made car audio.
I still have a pair of the old advent laureate home speakers and an advent powered 10" subwoofer I used to use on my old JVC home theater receiver. They were some pretty good sounding speakers.

That was my first experience of the Advent Prodigy. They had it connected to a giant Proton amp (or something similar - it was in their main listening room) and the poor woofers were nearly leaping out of their baskets. But it sounded phenomenal. I went on to buy a pair of Celestions from a smaller retailer (still have them!) but will never forget how great they were even at full power.

Their big problems back then were blown tweeters. They sounded balanced, but didn't handle power well. Sealed enclosure and the cross over frequency set too low on a cheap tweeter!
They were my favorite, behind Eosone though. They made good stuff if one knew them.
