I have the m1000 version. Had it since new. Beat the crap out of it with different cars, subs, low impedance, low voltage, etc. It just won't die. Currently powering a resilient sounds gold 15. (Or trying to) 😂
I still use V12 T500 starting to wonder how many cars it will pun in grave 🤣🤣🤣 did't got any repair or something and still work perfect. Good old school tech
Great video! There are a lot of factors that effect impedance with speakers, so that's why the resistive loads really tell how the amp performs compared to other amps. It's awesome to show the actual power going to the speakers as well because it's rarely anywhere near what people expect it is at a single frequency. Music playback will vary the impedance also and "music power" may be much higher, but it's usually for short periods. Keep up the great work, I love to see more amp tests because there are 1000's of amps out there and the more people testing, the better!
Thanks man I appreciate it! If my audience enjoys the video I'll film a few more, I love to build up my test bench so I could try out some more powerful amps.
i bought this amp in 2009 for a jl audio 10" and pumped it every day, now i have it pumping a sundown audio 12" and its still doing just as fine as the day i got it home, great amp
Yep, I'm trying to do something different. Hopefully after I do several of these videos I'll have enough data where I can do some analysis, and get an idea of how a traditional amp dyno can predict real-world power.
I had that same amp and the model before it around 2006, had it hooked up to 1 12 and it was really loud, 1 of my fav amps for price I've ever had, was only about 18 so it was impressive
That's awesome results for this amp. I used to have that amp and I gave it to my uncle for his truck build and unfortunately he sold the amp for who knows what reason, I was so sad that he did that. I would have kept the amp if I would have known his intentions were to sell the thing. SMH. Thank you so much for making this video man. Keep them coming.
I bought my mrx110 over the 240 & i still don't regret it the older i get & realise about electrical power & box size is what really matters until you want to go competition
It's nice to see manufacturers that actually design their own circuits, they are usually rock solid unless they are abused and will last for years. Now that's not good for the independent repairs guys, they don't see allot of them and trying to fix them can be a pain.
I've been pushing one 10 with my old Alpine MRX M100 since it was new. I've considered upgrading to a newer amp but after watching this my old Alpine isn't going anywhere.

2006-2007. The amp was replaced by the MRP-M500 in 2008, maybe 2009. I have the 450. I've had it since 2007, 2008. It's still going strong, every day! Great amp. I'm running a Kicker CompVT 12, 2 ohm.

@@DIYAudioGuy I live 45minutes from Seattle and the deals on plentiful on everything. I think it really depends on where you live and how big the population is.
For all the "Brazilian" guys out there...here is a full bridge design. Alpine, JL Audio, Rockford and others, have used ful bridge for years. Great video, thanks!

These Alpine amps fall into a category I call "common man workhorse amps". Not a lot of bells and whistles as indicated by the lug style connectors. These Alpines arein that category along with JBL, Infinity, Sony, Clarion and Pioneer, etc. from the same era. All very solid performers that usually make more than rated power and are durable. They are often overlooked nowadays and as a result they can be had for cheap. Nice review and demo Justin. Good info. 👍
I have been using alpine mrd 500, pdx f6 and pxa-h701 all the time still amazinggggggg performance, my ears doesn't heard something off It is just without dsp my sub cracked 😅
Very cool video. Looks like a really good amp. I'd be interested what kind of peaks it would give with real music. I'm guessing easy over 700 watts when It hits a quick hard bass note and the caps recharge. If you want to learn more about electronics, 2 books I recommend are practical electronics for inventors and electronics for dummies. They will tell you how to read a schematic and how the components work and how to test them.
I've got two MRV-M500 that I'm trying to install currently. Not really motivated to go into the garage when it's -10c (14f) outside. Would have loved to see if the newer model did better than it's predecessor.
It looks like you're an Alpine guy. Do you have any thoughts on the Alpine s-a32f 4-channel amplifier vs the Alpine MRV-F300? They're both 4 channel and about the same rated output. Is one just an updated model of the other?
Alpine makes good stuff, but I don't consider myself an Alpine guy. I don't have any experience with that particular gear so I can't tell you anything more than what the spec sheet says. The good news is that Alpine specifications are accurate.
it's pretty decent underrated , but the beasts are orion hcca 3k that output 10k+ rms at 0.5 ohm , russian amps that do the same , some brazilian amps like powerus or bully performance
Good looking transformers inside the amp. Kinda surprised at the lower voltage Caps though. Generally higher voltage is better, say 50 volts instead of 25 in terms of performance and sound quality. But overall, a pretty good and clean amp design. Certainly, worthy of the Alpine name. Especially with its capable output in watts.
@@DIYAudioGuy I guess I have nothing to lose. I'll just have to look at what these new amps are going for and try to post it at a reasonable price. I have a Boston acoustic G5 also sitting around from that era as well.

There are no sensors or anything like that if that is what you mean. The amp will just produce more power when it is hooked up to a load with less resistance.

Yes, but you have to be VERY careful. It's only recommended if you're an SPL competitor. For your daily driver you need to error on the side of safety and reliability.
