Love RF, never had a problem with any equipment ive owned. Sound great and feels great. Only downside is price but you get what you pay for. Another awesome video🤘😑🤘
Fosgate is one of the few brands that have consistently been very reliable with clean power for the entire life of the brand. When I was in high school in the early 90’s, if you had Fosgate, you got instant respect because people knew how good it was. In todays day and age, Fosgate is not held in the same regard, primarily because there are so many brands out there where you can pay 1/2 the price of Fosgate and get double the power. That does not diminish their quality though. Hopefully they never sell out. Great video Big D!!!
@@91CavGT5 for sure I was agreeing and just saying all four always have been solid and to this day anyone who’s been around knows you can’t really go wrong with any of them cause their bad products still step up from most.
My brother had the same amp back in the day got a power 1000 when it came out. He is still running 2 punch 240s for mids and highs from the 90s . He still has the punch 200 and power 1000 but for whatever reason he is running a different bass amp . He is still running a JL w6 that he has had repaired several times it sounds so good he bought the w6 when it first came out .
Have 2 Of these Old school Fosgates in my 90 S10 Blazer, 360.6 & the 500m Which powers a 10" Fosgate Sub in a matching factory Fosgate box. Sub is just as old as the amps & it still thumps Great for what it is. Everyone always thinks there is 2 10's or 12's in there. Sound Quality is still top notch from both amps.
You don't know how long I've waited to see this particular model tested D......no wonder we used to beat so hard with these amps.... Had us thinking it was 400 watts lol ....fooled the hell outta me lmao😅😅😅😅
Oh yes. I had a 100 and a 200 but it was in 92. Had the 100 running 12 mids and tweets and the 200 running 4 10inch series ones. I blew them and switched to orion reds. The soundstage was crazy good. Could he it 4 to 5 blocks away.👍🤟
Been waiting for this video!!! Love it !! Still have all of my old RF amplifier with end caps! (2)200DSM,(2)200ix,(2)100ix,4080DSM and punch 250M2 All in excellent condition! All from 1994/1995 Thank you for the great Video!❤
Here in Brazil it's very rare and expensive to buy these Fosgate's EUA amplifiers. More than 15 years ago I bought them second hand. I bought them painted with car paint. I don't use them anymore, but I love them... I don't think I'll ever sell them. I've tried to post some pictures here but I think someone deleted my previews comment... These tests make me want to put them back in my car again. Congrats on your channel, BigDWiz!
Impressive, to say the least!!! These old school monsters are amazing to see on the Dyno. I'd love to see a Zapco z300c2-slx, Z400C4-SL or z600c2-sl if ones can ever be found. It would be sweet to see how those compared to similarly spec'd Rockford on the dyno and for SQ comparisons.
I ran an original Punch 75 on two M&M 15s before I went to work at a local audio shop and started competing. That old Punch 75 never gave me a single issue and never went into protect no matter how hard I pushed it.
AWESOME. Love watching you show off these vintage amps and what they can do. I am still hoping sometime you can Dyno some Hollywood Sound Labs or Audio Gods by Hollywood. Thanks Old School Stereo .
I'd had this amp paired to two Orion 15's back in the day in a S-10 Blazer. Makes sense after seeing these numbers why it pushed them so hard. It was a great system for its day.
Keep it going BigD! I competed in the 0-99Watt class back in the 90s. I worked at a car audio shop in Tucson and we were very proud of the electronics made in USA up the road in PHX. Your videos are great and fun to rewind catching little things from the past.
My very first setup as a junior in high school in 1997 was 4 Rockford Fosgate Punch 10s on two punch 40s that looked just like these. Sealed enclosure inside of an 88 Toyota extended cab mini truck. ❤
I own half a dozen or so RF amps. I started with a P45 in the mid to late 90s and now run a P1000.1bd. This brand is worth every penny they charge for them and you always get well over rated power. People that have known car audio for a long time respect this brand look at Steve Meade's Tahoe. He runs eight Power 2500.1 BDCP on his 18s. Tony D. And the other engineers at RF were ahead of their time and always over built these amps. I've never had one quit on me and some are pushing 30 years old. Thanks for the vid Big D
Another great oldschool Video!! It’s always great to watch your early to mid 90s related videos - thanks 😃😊 In terms of repairing the earlier DSM series had leaked out silver SMD caps 10uF 16V after years. This reminds me of my RF Punch 125s. Berth sheets said 478@ 2 ohm mono. I was pushing two RF DVC Punch 12s to each 125 @1 ohm and even tried all four 12s at .5 ohm. They were beast. I had to put push/pull fans on them just to be safe. I pushed a 151.7 with them in a DB Drag.
I still have four of these babies along with the link caps and end caps . I never sold my cars that I had them in . I think they will be in my casket when I die
I had an old Rockford 4 channel with the crossover chips back in college that my uncle gave me. That amp got loud and sounded so good. Wish I never sold it....

Oh yeah! They are so stout I am actually thinking of reproducing these old school RF output stages. Once my cheapo class AB amp craps itself I'll be putting in work!
I had the 200ix pushing 2 RF 15’s. I don’t remember which subs they were but they had the 3D RF logo on the dust cap. If I remember correctly, I had them in a pretty big sealed enclosure in the trunk of my car in high school. It destroyed my car! Lol
LOL @ the British narration. I always wondered how close the DSM & IX were power-wise (apparently really close). I'm very curious about the x2 series because of the drastic design change. Also, are those the original caps in there?
i have 2 punch 200ix's all tho one blew this past summer, but i still have it. i even have all the caps for them. that extra wide spade connector for th remote wire sucks to find a spade for that matches the remote wire.
I use to run those old Rockfords, and they would give off that Rockford smell because they were made like a George Forman grill. Still have a punch 200, with the end caps, but people dont know that 500 watts of a/b is so much cleaner than 1k of class D
Lol voice sounds familiar. What's up buddy didn't know you had another channel. I just found an old fosgate 1200 punch 401S for 30 bones..should I grab it up. Outside looks really rough though
I had a Fosgate amp in late 90's that had the Xcard just like that one. My factory birth certificate tested at 727 watts. I don't remember which one I had though.
Love og Rockford ! Beast amps! Had that 6.5 slapping! Hey big d what’s the specs or maker of that box? I’m ordering a 6.5 from them from your link and I want it to slap like that !!!!!??!!🎉
I have a 100, and a 60 WITH endcaps!.. unfortunately, both met a horrible demise. I’ve been storing them for years, to have the right person to fix them.
These are pretty easy amps to work on. There's no MESHA boards so the fets are easy to swap with an iron. They are pretty bullet proof unless used on subs, then you might blow the output fets. Lots of folks work on them in the US.
They just don’t make audio equipment like this anymore. I had an ALPINE deck that I purchased around 2000, or 2002. It had the BBE sound processing built into it. That thing was nasty! It had 3 adjustable levels on it for highs, mids, & bass. It was like having a loud button with sound quality.
I had a 800a4 hooked up to 2 Sony 1200 watt explodes 12" . Wow band pass box with center air flow believe it or not I hade people come out and tripping on me
I actually wish the rem connection was a spade just like this. Total overkill the way it's included between 12V/GND, plus makes the wire look extra puny.
I had both of those as a youngster! And a 1252gtr I believe. They did just fine for the price too. Xplod got a lot of hate but kept me in the game just fine. Jensen too. My brother in law had an older Sony 1ohm stable amp with a switch on the bottom. I wanted that amp so bad after hearing his set up. Good times
This is actually a meaningless number - unless it's done at 1 watt. If it doesn't say at 1 watt then it's probably greatly exaggerated and should be ignored.
Am I insane or didn’t people run these at .5 ohm in the 90s? I don’t remember any of these going poof at .5ohm loads. Or am I thinking of a different cheater amp?

Love og Rockford ! Beast amps! Had that 6.5 slapping! Hey big d what’s the specs or maker of that box? I’m ordering a 6.5 from them from your link and I want it to slap like that !!!!!??!!🎉
Good lord. Lol.. no wonder guys used to run 20 speakers off one of these back in the day. RF was obviously up to the task easily. ❤
Best amps by far
I think guys back in the day used to push these with 16 Volt battery setups and drive even more watts.
Ai explanation was great. If you get an Austrian accent.....run
I had a 800a4 hooked up to 2 Sony 1200 watt explodes 12" . Wow band pass box with center air flow believe it or not I hade people come out and tripping on me
never had good luck with the trans anna cards over the raw dsm
George Foreman Grill
For The WIN!!! 😜
Do you have these 3 amps still
I actually wish the rem connection was a spade just like this. Total overkill the way it's included between 12V/GND, plus makes the wire look extra puny.
💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I really miss the days when analog was king and non of this crappy dig and cassettes ruled as well
do a sony xplod xm-2002gtr or 2002gtw
I had both of those as a youngster! And a 1252gtr I believe. They did just fine for the price too. Xplod got a lot of hate but kept me in the game just fine. Jensen too. My brother in law had an older Sony 1ohm stable amp with a switch on the bottom. I wanted that amp so bad after hearing his set up. Good times
THAT SIGNAL TO NOISE SPEAKS A LOT, HIGHER THAT NUMBER THE BETTER, NOT OPINION JUST FACT, SAME WITH SUBS/WOOFERS/MID/HIGHS
If the person had enough impedance rise, then it's possible.
Should use a female British voice so it’s sexy and fancy 😂
1500 watts wow nice
