Painting black paint with a white tee...this guy is fearless!
🤣
Awesome comment! I got a good chuckle out of it.
This is a great example of the workmanship that goes into a great box build. We see the sped up, condensed version, not the hours long skilled craftsman version.
This comment is right on point. You are 100% right about the amount of time, effort, and skill that goes into each project. Thank you for your comment!
I can see how that would be beneficial. It allows 2/3 resistance/enclosure while allowing the the sound to travel and escape as well as the frequency which travels with it. Haven't had much enjoyment or success with open/bandpass boxes however designing and a reasonable amount of effort are warming me up to it. Still enjoy the hard hitting notes that come from a sealed box.
DUDE!!!! Your bass and sound was so crystal clear.
Yes, the thing sounds amazing.Thank you for the comment.
Nice job! I was in car audio from 1984 - 2000 and specialized in custom enclosure design, xovers and custom panels. I still do my own stuff for home and car. It doesn’t get much better than the construction on that box.
That's awesome. Thanks for the comment
Hello, good time, sir, I had a request. I will send you a piece of video. If it is possible, you can send me a beautiful design for the rear audio system of this car so that I can make it. I would appreciate it
Always good to see innovation put to good use!😁
No shortage of skills here ! You look like someone that a high end home audio company would like to have , nice work !
Wow, that's an amazing comment! Thank you for your kinds words.
I built a similar box for my 89 5.0 w two competition 10’s on 1000w alpine. Took me a hole month to build to perfection and my lord the outcome was amazing!! My wife could hear me coming a mile away! The smoothest hardest hitting box I’ve ever built
Awesome. Thanks for the comment
Got pics of the build to share? I’m tryna do a box similar to this video with a shallow 12” Fosgate T1 in a Mini Cooper, don’t have much room
i love watching these builds, you nailed it sir, what an absolutely beautiful work. ❤️👌

simple but great efforts and the deep bass as a great results.
Wonderful bass and a Splendid build project. The bass slaps
Thank you!
That box is a work of art,I bet it hits deep.Very nice work
Thank you so much!
Yes, it hits very nicely.
T-line boxes sound awesome and the amount of sound you can get out of a single sub is crazy too!! Making it down fire like that has multiple benefits because I think they sound the best that way plus you don't need to worry about damage to the sub from a stupid passenger being careless with foot placement! When you were building it the cut out for the sub looked way bigger then a eight, but those little Skar eights do work for sure if you have a good amp going to them. I like it, I like it a lot! LoL
Exactly! 💯
Thanks for the comment!
Nice build!!! Well done!!!
LINDA INICIATIVA, VIDA LONGA A SEU CANAL...PARABÉNS!!
Pretty nice deep mellow bass! I love it: High fidelity.
Sounds good. Thats all the bass anyone needs. A good box makes all the difference. In high school a buddy of mine had 2 6 x9s in his truck and you would swear he was rocking 2 10" or 12" Rockfords.
100% agree! Thanks for the comment.
I had a little Mazda truck that someone had installed Jensen 6x9's in. They made custom mounts for the doors. They got really low. Hadn't had a truck with frequency response that good until I got a Ram with Infinity audio.
Absolutely beautiful work. I love seeing builds like these!

No problem gotta give credit where it’s due.
I built a large box for my home theater system. I placed within the exact same SKAR ix 8 subwoofer. Fantastic sound for the money. The key with these budget subs is to never over power them. If you give them just enough, they sound great and last a long time. A good box is also very important.
Awesome! And yes, I 100 percent agree that you need a well-designed enclosure.
Great box, adding this build idea.
Thanks! It's a fun and awesome build.
Dude… the for thought and deep detail. Id like to find a real at home wood worker like you near me… in my opinion it’s been a lost art with technology and what not. That’s a beautiful looking enclosure props hommie

Amazing brother im surprised how u haven't got more views!!! Great stuff keep it up!!!
Haha, yeah just waiting to go viral 😁

Hey man you think just cause I don’t post vids or anything nobody usually gives a thumb up or even reply back.
This was about as good of a custom box as I've ever seen anyone do as a home project. But i can only imagine how much better it would sound if it had been built for a different sub.
Beautiful sound out of that, and true pure response.
Yes indeed! Thank you
@@FranksCaliWoodSpecialty a man who was part of my child hood made a unit for his valve 100w record player, with the exact same design and the sound was like being in Africa watching those elephants walk. Well done mate I thoroughly enjoyed that journey again
I like how you build your box’s. Using screws and painting it. Seen others that don’t use any screws starts to rattle than fall apart and carpet that starts peeling off almost instantly
Thanks! Yeah, most boxes are carpet wrapped. I wanted to try something different and using paint gives it a more cleaner and sleek look. Oh yeah, for me I want to make sure that the box does not come apart so I use screws all over.
you know boxes are supposed to be turned to a frequency right? and theres a math equation to use to get what frequency you want. or theres calculators online to do the math for you. just trying to help.
next time use a longer nail and put it all the way through and square and you can just flip it over and use the router to cut it out and the cut will line up.
and it will help to put liquid nails on the screws so they won't come loose. no hating just trying to help
gluing in the connector will help keep them from cracking from the pressure. and they make a lot of different kinds of metal inserts so you don't have screws that the wood holes strip. glue them in to seal them in. just some things you might have not thought of.
A transmission line speaker with a decoupling chamber behind the driver is called a Decoupled Antiresonant Line, or Daline. It permits more powerful quarter-wave resonance of the air in the line; it is like a hybrid between a bass-reflex system and a transmission line. In a system like this, the chamber behind the driver may have stuffing (or maybe not), but the line typically does not have any stuffing.
Albeit, the chamber is quite shallow, I call it a Daline, or simply a Chambered t-line. Admittedly, in my 30 years of designing t-lines, I've never tried to design one. Jesnen transflex ruclips.net/video/6yb2msOQw_4/видео.html or bandpass t-line ruclips.net/video/qm5K_VVRwXQ/видео.html is as varied as I get
As for the measurements, to have a 'Line' that's 1 3/8's ... wouldn't perform that well. So this is certainly pointing more towards a daline, than a traditional 1/4 wave.
You know it's called antirezonant for a reason.
Yes…instead of stuffing though, I add an oscillating retractable Heisenberg compensator.
Is there a way to calculate something like this for dual 8" subs? How would you figure length of line and area of open chamber for each?
Absolutely beautiful sound
Thank you for the comment!
I love the box design and innovation. Does the multiple turns in the slot effect anything? Is that the only way to achieve a really long port in a box?
One of the nicest t-line boxes that I have seen. Good work.
I really appreciate that. Thank you
This is definitely a quarter wave enclosure, but I'm curious about the frequency range. It does sound good though.
@@uncledope77
Every t-line based on quarterwave that I have ever heard has the best bandwidth of any box I have ever heard. Recently heard a Sundown SA-10 that was amazing. Dug super low with rebassed tracks but also very musical with jazz and classical. Guy was going to sell me his box and hooked it up in his vehicle because he had audiofrog and was going strictly SQ for competition. Sounded so good that he changed his mind. It sounded so good that I wasn't even upset with him. He literally quit competing because he missed that box. Not saying everyone would feel the same but ridiculous bandwidth.
I would agree with that if it was made accurately for each individual subwoofer. A lot of these homemade T-Line enclosures don't sound right. Because they don't hit that quarter wave frequency spot on the money. Sometimes not having the proper spacing in the vented walls. Without that specific frequency & spacing that will tremendously effect the overall performance and sound quality.
@@uncledope77
It's not that difficult honestly. First time I made one I killed it. Best sounding box I've ever made. Follow the steps
amazing job and thanks
for the detailed explanation… i will definitely be trying a t-line for my next single cab…
I appreciate your comment. Glad you found it helpful. Yeah, is definitely a fun little project to make.
Sem duvidas, Sencional !!!
Badass setup. Just watching the pieces being made, and you explaining the setup as you went along was appreciated. How did you calculate your inside volume, especially with those long runners? Thanks.
First off, thanks for your comment.
There are various online calculators that you can find online on how to figure out volume and port length. For this design, simply search for t-line calculator or Transmission line speaker length calculator. This should also give you the overall volume.
Going larger then the recommended box size for a sub is not going to wreck them, it will be louder because there is less back pressure, but your sound quality will be looser sounding, or sloppier and less tight. Bigger the box the louder (more room filling vibrations ), and the opposite for smaller boxes. Hope this helps.
Love the box design. I bet I sounds deep as fuck; and love that you used variety of music to show us how it hits.
Thanks! Oh yeah, the bass is deep and clean. I'm glad you enjoyed te video.
I think a simple t-line might have been a better choice. ruclips.net/video/R_QUm97_kJk/видео.html
Really innovative box design super impressed.
Thank you! Much appreciated.
this really awesome and amazing outcome.
Thank You for your comment.
I've done very similar box with an 8" image dynamics sub under the back seat of my old F-150. Sounded pretty damn good for an 8 and got low, but my only complaint was a very very slight delay. It sure makes small subs sound bigger than they are.
That's cool. It is pretty amazing how well it sounds. However, I'm not sure what you mean that yours had a slight delay. Thanks for the comment.
Yeah , I've noticed that delay in home audio , powered subs !
if you are getting a delay check your phasing... a lot of good powered home subs will have a phase switch.. might also have the wires reversed on the one in your car setup this is especially prevalent with door speaker replacement
I would love to have these mounted INSIDE my living room walls in a 'stealth' kinda way. Killer boxes pal!
I appreciate your comment. Thanks
Leaves chat to start putting hole in wall so I am forced to build box and put it in the wall.
The flex is going to hit the floor
More than a year later and no issue with the sub's excursion. Thanks for your comment.
Nice deep bass.....appreciate your video
Did you have to raise the back seat for that box? Built two boxes already and didn't have enough clearance for an 8 inch skar, down firing. Ended up building a .40 cube sealed for infront of the seat. Next project is a vented box for the same spot, but now you got me wondering with that box you built if you didn't have to raise your back seat. Awesome build!
Thank you! No, I did not mess with the seat. I maximized all the clearance it had under the bench.
absolutely wonderful, bro can you share the blueprints in your description it would be awesome to build one of these on acrylic materials so that i can add some l.e.d. lights and glow up up the whole unit, the design takes full advantage of the sound waves distribution and resonance of the bass, keep up the good job 💪
Thank you!
I made a hand drawn image with measurements that you can see at the beginning of the video. Perhaps you can pause and take a screen shot of it.

Verry Smooth Sound i love it
Thank you very much, I built as your project with a 100w speaker it's very satishfing
Wow! Outstanding. I'm glad you are enjoying it.
How much for a box like that? Or a box for a 1995 Silverado crew cab? Maybe two shallow 12s? Or maybe 3?? Your a genius and it looks fantastic!! I'd love for you to build me a custom box!!!

Great job my dude there’s a half ass way and a way to do it right you got it locked down bro. Instead of painting it why not carpet either way it’s great quality work.💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Yeah, I wanted to try something different with that black finish instead of carpeting.
Got ya turned out great either way you would have went.
Going with the black paint you could use the Duratex coating...its black and gives it a finished look plus protects the wood. Also I'd have to do some sort of mesh over the sub especially with it facing/close to the floor
@@tesla_3_performance Yeah I did consider a duratex finish. And yes it does provide additional protection, but I wanted a smooth finish; i believe duratex has more of a rough texture finish. Adding a mesh or some sort of cover to the sub is not necessary (it might look good, but it would not add any real protection). I ensured it had enough clearance at the bottom for excursion. A few years back I built my home sub with a similar design (down firing) and there's been no issue with dust, kids toys, etc.
@@tesla_3_performance I agree with your statement but he might not have the clearance. Because the surround is thick plus the excursion. He might have to raise the enclosure a lil bit.
Beautiful work.
Thank you for you comment!
It turned out very nice.
Thanks for the comment!
Amazing job! What is the useable frequency response please if used in a living room for example? Can it go below 30Hz and could it be scaled up for a 10 or 12 to maybe go lower, say 20Hz if the 8" cannot? Thank you.
Yes it can be scaled up for a 12"
Thanks!
It's around 40Hz. Yeah, it can be scaled up for a 10 or 12", but it would not be able to ne tucked away nicely under the seat.
Would it be possible to run a t line box with a 10 under the rear seat of a extended cab full size ,? Have you ever heard the ,pro box ported single 10 for full size
Pickups? I have their earlier dual 12 sealed with 2 eclipse 6 ohm subs at 3 ohms ,not alot of room in the box after subs are in .
You might be able to use a 10" sub in a t-line configuration, but it would all depend on the size of the speaker + magnet. It would probably be a tight fit. This is why I chose an 8" sub. No, I have not heard of pro ported box.
Just get a higher quality 8" sub or 2 (no t-line for 2) & you'll have some awesome bass.
Sounds freaking great bro, great sounds.
Thank you! It's still bumping and still sounding great!
bet that sounds clean. good work man.
Thank you. Yes absolutely the bass sounds low, deep, and clean! 💯
Awesome work, rumor is cabinet makers are always the best sub box builders ;)
Love your work, I even just subbed! Would to pick your brain one day!
My neighbors dad as a kid when growing up, was a cabinet maker from scratch, best/craziest wood work I've ever seen, and their cars would always slam with the smallest subs lol, the man knew his math, angles and had the right tools! Now as of today the man is in his late 60's still doing both! For some reason he loves birch wood (I assume its much more dense, MDF has crazy chemicals he says) in cars.. Not sure what he does for homes, my home had "builder upgraded cabinets" then I got a huge discount (for the house) before the market went up lol.
Much appreciated and thank you for your kind words (and for subbing). I rarely ask people to sub to the channel because if people like what you do, they'll sub without asking. 😁
MDF has been the go to material for speaker/sub box building. There's little to no material flexing when the subs are hitting hard. However, yes, there's some wicked chemicals in MDF. Plywood, also has some level of chemicals. Face masks, good dust collection, and ventilation is important when working with these materials.
Stay tuned for more. I have another dual sub build. Will make another vid!
1:17 man, don't do this.
Never crosscut with a rip fence, use a miter gauge or sled.
You are gonna get yourself seriously injured or killed, and someone learning from you will do the same.
Good advice...but question. At what point does a cut become a cross cut? Is it the point when width (East/West) is more than the length? (North/South) So anything wider than a square shouldn't be cut with a fence?
@@JViello Ideally, you should never rip more than half the length, and consider anything close to being a square with special caution.
You can go for years without getting a kick back, and then one day it happens. I once had a full sheet of 3/4" plywood kick and frisbee across the shop with enough for to move my 1500lb planer.
If a good after market extended miter gauge is too much, make yourself a sled. It is one of the few tools that will actually make you a better craftsman. Not only will it cut more accurately, it is worlds safer/
Thanks for the comment
SOUNDS GREAT!
Yes indeed 😁 Thank you!
I'm considering using this idea to build a couple of compact boxes for a Jeep or two. Great idea.
Yeah! Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed
@@FranksCaliWoodSpecialty I had two 10's in my Jeep years ago. Instead of doing that I think I'll build a ported "infinity port" box like yours and use a smaller sub that requires less power. It should work great. Thanks for using a good mic to record the sub after you finished the box. Most people use a phone and it can't pick up the sub very well.
I've always wanted to do a box just like this! I mean exactly like this. I think I'm going to do one just so I know how it sounds. Awesome work!
Awesome!
Man, I want to do an enclosure like this for my single cab Silverado. I am more concerned with getting all the frequencies than just being loud. How did you come up with the design?
Yup, I agree with you. It would be pointless to have a loud sub if it sounds terrible. There are various articles and sites that give you the info you need to build a box for any specific sub. Simply search for t-line calculator. Of course you can find a calculator for any box design that fits your needs.
This enclosure looks like a T-Line (quarter wave enclosure) that usually requires a bigger enclosure. That have to be properly tuned or they sound awful! Sealed enclosures are usually smaller but struggle with loud spl's at lower hertz. Also require more power than vented enclosures because they are less efficient. Please explore an enclosure that has a passive radiator. It can be the best of both worlds. It does require proper tuning which can be a headache in the beginning. But once it is done right, you can have an enclosure around the size. Of a sealed enclosure while having a lot of the efficiency of a vented enclosure. I have made passive radiator enclosures that HIT HARDER than a lot of bandpass boxes. But with a full lower frequency bandwidth. In my humble opinion 🤔
I was looking at the kicker truck box that uses a passive radiator. I wonder if it would get low in that tiny enclosure.
I was looking at the kicker truck box that uses a passive radiator. I wonder if it would get low in that tiny enclosure.
@@uncledope77 I have had my eye on that little truck box kicker makes. It uses a passive radiator. I wonder if that would be the ticket.
Very nice but out of curiosity does the sub ever slap the floor do to the excursion travel beyond the lip of the box.
Great question. No, it does not. I made sure it had sufficient clearance underneath. I've played some really bass heavy music and I've had no issue with the excursion.
Assuming you went with the srp 8" ?

This is just a really long port and not a transmission line, right?
Yeah, I guess technically it is a really long port, but it is a t-line set up. The bass response I get from this design is outstanding. Much better than a regular ported design.
I still don't understand how you figured the length? There isn't a calculator anywhere that I can find to help determine this, and also how much chamber area you decided to go with. Not to mention using dual subs. Did you guess at calculations?

Congratulations. Excellent workmanship. The secret to having a deep quality bass sound is in the distance between source and outlet. Hence the labyrinth. What would also greatly help is lining the interior of the box with absorbent material, I've, old blankets or foam sponge.
