Hey Alan, I'm a huge fan and you are an inspiration. If you see this comment, I just want to know what your reasons for using bass drum triggers are?
Mungebimp13 drum triggers are used to make the kick sound louder and clearer especially at fast speeds
Brandon Broz I get that, but with using the right equipment you don't need that and it sounds better.
to articulate the kicks and have them maintain the same volume and hit dynamics all the time. you can't play 16th notes over probably 210 BPM on kick drums and have it sound just as loud as if you were playing a steady rock beat with the kick. if i tried to play at 220 BPM with no triggers it would sound half the volume and have half the attack of a hit i could do as a quarter note. also with metal kick drum samples being a super short high end sound, whenever you do something fast you can hear every single hit and it will force you to have EVERYTHING you do on time cause it will stand out 100 times more with the triggers than if you were doing 16ths at a fast tempo, in and out of time, with a bomb blast and no triggers. the natural kick would be (at some point) more of a rumble than a clear articulated series of hits.
