On the morning of June 3, 2011, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue grand opened in a Tomorrowland ceremony at Disneyland. Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, and other special guests put on a show before Disney Chairman of Parks and Resorts Tom Staggs officially opened the newly-updated ride.

What Jedi and Storm Troopers do on their vacations, lol!
One of my dreams/bucket list in addition to performing a week at the Magic Castle in Hollywood is owning and wearing a full StormTrooper and Jedi robe.

idk about the rest of you guys but i was pretty shocked that the people mover track was actually used in disneylands opener when that track hadnt been used for anything in over 10 years.
Vader tends to give up quite easily recently. :-P
Still love how they got an actress for this looking similar to Stephanie Taylor, the Actress who played the Anouncer in the Original Star Tours.
The new Star Wars movie looks so good!!!!
Episode 7 was awesome with SO MANY storylines set up and "Ruin" Johnson destroyed it all with that sh*t piece of Episode 8. Every story possible from The Force Awakens was completely destroyed and broke our as a community's hearts.
I was there and the public was shut out from this. They set up the stage between the Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear entrances (blocking off all access to an already congested area) and kept the public back. There was no sound heard from the stage beyond just a few feet as the sound was not piped over the area's sound system. The people you see in the chairs were all that were there. Everyone was hearded behind the stage or confined to the Tomorrowland Terrace areas. Poor planning, Disney..
last night i went for gradnite and at 5am, people were in line already!

There I am!!! Way in the back with all the people that were waiting in line to ride this early (and we thought to see the ceremony)!!!! The ceremony was pretty lame IMO though, wish George Lucas was there. Got to ride it 2 times on opening day (yesterday)....also rode it four times during AP previews...I heart Star Wars though. The ride is awesome, my fam loves it
She (the hostess in the red dress) looks a whole lot like Stephanie Taylor, the original attraction's pre-show announcer.

I was there in line, you can see the all of us waiting in the back. They did everything they could to keep us from seeing this. It's sad because Disneyland is the original and it was done so poorly! No fan involvement at all! Disney World got all the love!

I stood in line at 3:00 am, got my wristband, but didn't get to watch the opening ceremony, you can probably see the people in line to the rear right, I was a little dissapointed. the hard core fans were left out of this celebration. I even wore my custom made Jedi robe....

@robotdude14 Probably because the parks are a little more open spaced and have more room.
oh i was there the previous night at grad nite and saw them setting the stage up but star tours wasnt open that night which sucked.
@MianaKenobi That's not 100% true... look at what Disneyland got in the past few years, the Fantasmic update, Magical, World of Color, Mickey's Soundsational Parade, DCA expansion/refurb, ElecTRONica, the TRON ending to WOC, The new Pirates segment in WOC, POTC4 Premiere at Tom Sawyer's Island, Ghost Galaxy (halloween), and more. WDW is my favorite Disney park, and yes, while some of the attention Disney land once had is shifting over to WDW, they are both great and both loved by many people.

Well I'm glad to finally actually hear the speech...I was there opening day and you couldn't hear it at all. The sound was awful. Disney fumbled this opening so badly. I was really disappointed...That said, the ride is great. :)

Loved this video. Were the performers members of the 501st? So looking forward to going to Disneyland to experience this version compared to the one I rode back in 1987!

Well they did a better job than me or probably any of you would've had. Besides my boys really loved it and as a parent, that's all that matters to me anyway.
Why is it that the disneyland in florida always have the better stuff! Isn't the original one here in California! :(

Disney needs to give more recognition to DL, they are all giving WDW more attention, not that WDW is a bad park but DL needs to get some of the good stuff too. I mean seriously, Tom Staggs? Couldn't they have a guest star instead?

@Daniel801J Disneyland always gets the shaft, compared to Disneyworld. It all went downhill after Walt died. Disneyland was his baby. He would walk the park when it was closed and personally inspect it. After he died, and Disneyworld was opened, all the attention went that way.
And shame on you George Lucas. You can make a cross country trip, but when it comes to your own state, you can't hop on a chopper or a half hour flight to come to Disneyland. You call yourself a Californian.

i'm sorry but the Hollywood Studios opening was waaaaaaaaaay better than this one and it had special effects and George Lucas, huge disappointment oh well !!
