This year in 2017, 20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd. celebrates the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and Disney Parks celebrates the 30th anniversary of Star Tours. By the way, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi is coming to theaters this Christmas 2017 from 20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd.
1987 was a good Disney year with TDL Big Thunder and Captain EO opening and EDL starting up. Good to see former Astronaut, neighbor, and WED VP Gordon Cooper there as in 1977 at Space Mountain.
Captain EO actually opened in 1986. I was there for that opening as well as for this Star Tours Opening (AND have the T-shirts!) We didn't close the Park for 60 hours...some of us put in 30 hours in just over 2 days...ahhhh...to be young again....
Star Tours is the ultimate Star Wars adventure and is a motion simulator ride at Disneyland was opened in 1987 and at Disney's Hollywood Studios was opened in 1989. It was collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd. and 25 years later in 2012, Disney bought Lucasfilm Ltd. So, Disney is going to have the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars crossover special and it will air on Saturday, July 26, 2014 on Disney Channel and on Monday, August 4, 2014 on Disney XD and coming this Fall to Disney XD, Star Wars Rebels.
PrinceJosh1992 Speaking of Star Tours at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, 20th Century-Fox is going to have the new movie trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens will be released on December 18, 2015.
PrinceJosh1992 Oh, I almost forgot. There's a new spin-off movie, Star Wars: Rogue One will be released next Christmas 2016 from 20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd.
I hope that Dreamworks will buy Dark Crystal because the Dreamworks is very serious than Disney with Dark scenes as we saw in prince of egypt, antz and rise of guardians. But imagine that Up was producted by Dreamworks not by Pixar
LOL L Sweet - yeah, we thought so too! Considering WE HAD BLASTERS!! I was the lead stormtrooper in that little extravaganza...and clearly our choreographer and Show Director had decided that we needed to clear the stage ASAP so that Luke, Han, and Leia...could...DANCE!!! Our stage directions were essentially, "Okay, Stormtrooper #___, come down the stairs...shoot over...let's say....there (pyro cue!) and then Luke or Han will fire back at you, knocking you through the silvery curtain. Or...Luke will just push you through the silvery curtain.
I actually got the best of our notoriously prickly choreographer that night. She gave me my direction...."you get shot...spin away and fall through the silvery curtain...". I never left the stage. After a few more troopers had fallen to Luke and Han, I brazenly approached her and said "I don't think I died...I was just stunned over there." She looked hard at me...and said "Okay...you come back here...take another shot Han over there...and THEN die and fall through the silvery curtain..."
I also enjoy how my buddies who were Rebel pilots courteously brought their own chairs into the cantina... All in all...one of the most fun events we ever did. Every one of my friends were in it..we rehearsed and hung out all night in an empty Tomorrowland. GREAT memories!!
This might very well be the final instance of Jimmy MacDonald providing the voice of Mickey Mouse, despite Wayne Alwine taking the role as early as 1977
Considering his name is often shortened to 3PO in the films, maybe he started saying that and then realized he should be more formal up on the stage. That said, Eisner was a bit of a money-grabber in general.
Funny you should mention that, 'cause with the opening of Galaxy's Edge, "Star Tours" is being taken as canon, as part of Rex's backstory for how he wound up on Batuu as a DJ.
4:38 Anakin: Leia please, i want to help you Leia: STAY AWAY FROM ME! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! YOU BLOW UP ALDERAAN! Anakin: No, i saw all when i was Jedi!
at time 12:40 - notice how Michael Eisner holds, pulls / tries to keep the lightsaber away from George Lucas and ends up holding it by himself --- I THINK this shows that Eisner was always after Star Wars -- and by 2019 -- isn't it odd that George Lucas sold everything to Disney and just at that same time, Michael Eisner now has the digital photos / art / autograph licensing to all things of Star Wars via TOPPS DISNEY & Disney Collect by TOPPS --- (Michael Eisner had done this by first buying TOPPS when he left Disney - but now is back with Disney in his hairpin turn)
How ironic that Disney would eventually own the "Star Wars" franchise, and concentrate more on that (and the "Marvel" franchise) than their own characters these days. 😐
Ah yes “3...c-P3o”. My favorite Star Wars driod.
Despite being 13 years old, i think 100 pounds of nostalgia just slapped me across the face.
Ryan fritsinger same, but I’m 15
Same, but 15 here ^^
1987 was 10 years after the first movie debuted. This event was 25 years ago.
Thanks for making me feel old.

I was 13 and always tried to pretend I was on the ride
I wasn't even born until 5 years after this.
Were all here for 10:44 funhouse fans

Man, Galaxy’s Edge looks so rad.
I was born the same exact day this opened!
Star Wars: The Ballet! 🤣🤣🤣
Great vintage moment!
Galaxy’s Edge dedication ceremony at Disneyland Resort May 29 2019........... May 31st 2019 Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens!!!..............
And Galaxy's Edge sucks nuts!!!
THERE'S A NEW STAR WARS LAND COMING TO DISNEYLAND AND HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS, I'M SO FRICKIN' EXCITED!!!
Same here.
I hope it gets an opening ceremony as badass as this one! =D Waiting until 2021 to go though.
@@Angie2343 That ceremony wasn't even remotely close to this , I was pretty disappointed.
@@MisterJesh Me too
@@Angie2343 Yeah I had to come back and watch this to give me my fill , I was expecting a bit more from Disney especially opening a new land.

Funny, Luke Skywalker singlehandedly defeated all the storm troopers by pushing them!

Wait... Is Han using a laser tag gun? LOL!
Impressive usage of props
Is that any worse than dancing an adagio with Leia??
That was better than the Star Wars holiday special! I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats!
AMAZING ALEXANDER!!! LOL
The Death Vader Ballet as mentioned on the Star Tour Episode of Disney+ Original series, Behind the Attraction.
10:44 That says it all. He just wants Star Wars there for the BENJAMINS BABY. Doesn't even remember C3PO's name.

Dancing Ackbar!
Jimmy McDonalds last appearance as Mickey Mouse
That Aged like Fine Wine ngl
Unfortunately, this is no longer canon...Maybe the next episode will be called "Star Wars: It was all Canon!"
Funny you should mention that, 'cause with the opening of Galaxy's Edge, "Star Tours" is being taken as canon, as part of Rex's backstory for how he wound up on Batuu as a DJ.
Then 25 years later Lucas sold his soul to Eisner
Correction. Iger
4:38 Anakin: Leia please, i want to help you
Leia: STAY AWAY FROM ME! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! YOU BLOW UP ALDERAAN!
Anakin: No, i saw all when i was Jedi!
Who was voicing Mickey?
Jimmy McDonald.
@@Naminski1aI am very surprised.
imagine if this wasn't for anything, they just started doing all this random shit on stage
Princess Leia and Ewoks warriors

well that was a waste of time
