This is the only Super Bowl I ever attended and it was an incredible sight seeing over 103,000 people taking part in the halftime activity. After the half I went to get a(nother) beer and heard all the vendors complaining that the show cost them a fortune in revenue because the fans didn't use the halftime to by their wares. This must have been the largest halftime show in the history of the Super Bowl because no other NFL venue can hold 103,000 fans and I would bet that 95% of the fans there took part.

I was not quite 6 years old when this show was performed, and I was a HUGE Mickey Mouse fan! Plus, the music in this show conveys such a positive message all the way through. I like watching this show not only around Super Bowl time, but also when I'm feeling stressed and just need a bit of an "upper."

@RampGuy1 The N.F.L. played a 14 game schedule until 1978 when the league expanded the regular season schedule to 16 games. The league has also added an extra wild card team in 1990, thus extending the playoffs. That is why the Super Bowl has been held in February the past few seasons.

@Reed Rothchild IMHO, the Super Bowl halftime show jumped the shark in the early 1990's, and what a big shark it was! Although that expression is commonly used in reference to a perceived decline in the quality of a show, it originally referred to the use of a gimmick (in this case, having big-name pop stars headline the show) in an attempt to boost the ratings. Either way, I know it's a minority opinion, but I like the pre-1993 halftime shows much better than the more recent ones.

Only trouble with playing the divisional games on 12/27 is that it was not a holiday. The NFL at that time was not keen on playing late afternoon(or night) games in cold weather climates. IN 1977 with 12/25 being on a Sunday 12/26 was a holiday for many people which allowed for playoff games on Monday

@ghostrepublic -And the reason the game was so early uin Jan was due to Xmas being on a Saturday that year. The NFL did not want o play games on Xmas so instead of starting the regular season two weeks after Labor Day as was customary in those 14 game regular seasons, the started 1 week after labor days making the divisional playoffs on the 18 and 19th with the conference title games the 26th. With a regular start date divisionals would have been on xmas day and the day after.
