      No they didn’t. Because the play was coming back anyway because there were two other fouls in the play nobody wants to talk about. There was illegal formation and a hold. Flags we’re thrown for all. None are ores so penalties. Go watch Shannon Sharpes (who hates Dallas) explain on his podcast what happened, why it happened, and how it didn’t matter because it was coming back for the other penalties anyway.

      Troy said Decker would only go to the ref if he was reporting, then what was Skipper (70)doing there talking to the ref? The ref was paying attention to Skipper (70). Unless Detroit was trying to pull a fast one, which backfired. 70 was announced as eligible 68 wasn't so that was on the Lions to correct BEFORE the snap.

      Aikman also should have mentioned the phony tripping call on Dallas. He didn't. This last play would have never happened and the cowboys would have a first down on the 14 yard line if the refs called the tripping on Detroit like they should have. Cowboys could have scored another touchdown and be up by 2 scores or the field goal gets kicked and Detroit literally wouls very little time on the clock with no time outs. Cowboys win even though they got shafted with the tripping penalty.

      The officials got it right. Everyone hates to see any game end on a call,but it was coaching. Even if he was recognized as eligible by the refs...he wasn't covered up by a receiver. By rule that's a illegal formation. Had the tackle eligible backed up a half yard off the line of scrimmage,he wouldn't have to be covered. And if that was the case...the cowboys would have defended it differently . That's the one point of context everyone is leaving out. That the defense would have played it accordingly. Besides the fact they had several opportunities to rethink it and tie the game. It's easy for us to scapegoat the refs, it's low hanging fruit. This one is on Dan Campbell, which there's enough sample size to say it's in his DNA until he changes things

I read that Dekker told Allen “reporting”; maybe that’s enough during normal times, but if #70 is running towards Allen at the same time, my guess is that Allen mixed it all up in his head. @@redghost3170 we've had organized sporting events for well over 100 years now and managed to survive by relying on humans to play the game and humans to officiate the games.

      Its honestly to the point now where the players union should file a lawsuit against the league and the refs for blatant fraud and fixing of games as its having huge impacts on players careers. How many players aren't going to make the playoffs this year because of corrupt or incompetent refs?
      For that matter why isn't the NFL being sued of behalf of the fans, why aren't the sports betting organizations being sued on behalf of betters?

Take the refs off the field and put them in the press box in front of bank of monitors so that they can review every play for rules violations, inbounds, out of bounds, incomplete, fumble, etc. Of course, if an angle is not available, then everyone would start suspecting the networks of bias.

    It still blows my mind that players have to report as eligible in the NFL. Even in high school, where and how you line up is what determines if you are eligible, and it’s on the defense to read and recognize that. The rules are pretty simple. • @tylerrynberg
      @tylerrynberg 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you're missing the actual rules. The rules are that at least 7 players must be on the line, the two players on either end are eligible, and that at all the players in between are ineligible. To aid defenses, if an "offensive lineman" is on the end, he must declare himself eligible (even though, technically by formation rules, he is already eligible). Go back and look at Detroit's formation for that play -- they had at least 7 people on the line, of which Decker was on the left end and fully eligible, if he declared himself to the Ref. Which he appeared to do. The WR on the left side was off the line (not covering Decker).
      This was a special trick play designed up for a critical game winner situation like this. Dan Campbell even talked to the Ref before the game about this play. Brad Allen is a complete joke and should be removed from being head Ref. He's already botched multiple large games in the last several years.

I've been watching this game for 40 years and from everything I have observed over those years, I would say that 99% of the time when you are the visiting team, especially against a tough opponent, in a game that should be very close, you would NOT go for it on 4th down early in the game. Instead, you kick the short FG (Yes, I know the Lions have had issues with their kickers) and had they done that, they would have won the game. That is a mistake that a coach like Belichick would NOT have made.

      They could of tied the game after that call. But he wanted to gamble on the win. And he roll the dice twice more and loss. The offsides on 11 we intercepted but got called back. Next try reciever dropped ball. So the call nagated nothing. Cowboys got a fuckn call . Now it’s a crime

    To anyone that has been watching the NFL the past few years, it shouldnt be a surprise at all. This type of thing has become the norm...the refs making a clearly wrong call, steering the outcome of the game in a certain direction. Usually happens multiple times in games. It feels like the refs are holding the fans hostage. I just do not understand how it continues, yet there is never anyone held accountable, we all are just forced to accept it. There have always been mistakes made by officials, but it has seems to have increased dramatically the past few years. Always happens on crucial plays too. The league has lost credibility in my eyes, it hurts the players and the fans for this to happen over and over again.

    NFL needs to replay this game from the point of the foul up! Give lions their points and play last 25 seconds with whatever timeouts remaining. Including giving one back to Dallas, if they used it after the foul up! Put both teams on planes if need be, after the final season game so they have similar fatigue levels as at that time and you could pull it off and right a wrong! NFL will never do that!

      How about we give the Cowboys the first down at the 2 minute warning after the Refs called the tripping call on the wrong team?? Do that and the Lions never even get to score the TD and game is over long before that.

    Maybe someone can answer a question for me. If you go back and watch the replay, #68, the guy who allegedly reported in and who caught the 2-point conversion, when he lined up, there was another player outside him on or very close to the line. If that player outside of him is considered to be on the line, #68 cannot be an eligible receiver even if he reports in. Is that accurate? The only eligible receivers on the line of scrimmage are on the ends. Right?

      I thought so to unless the receiver was 1 step off the line. The camera angle was off a little, it looked like he was on the line

      That’s not correct. You can can have 2 eligible on that side of the field because the Oline was heavy on the opposite side. Allowing the Tackle to be eligible

    • @Michael-dy2lb
      @Michael-dy2lb 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@dreambigfish354 The tackle can only be eligible if there is nobody on the line outside him. But there was ... or he was very close to the line. I think he was intentionally too close to the line to disguise the eligible tackle. And he naturally thought he wouldn't be called, but it did get the call.

    Referees should have to go on tv and explain their calls at the end of the game, same as coaches for either team.

      Refs should be graded by a panel of coaches and the ones that make too many mistakes should be fired.
