Shout out to the late Clive Burr on the drums. This was his last appearance on an Iron Maiden record. I never really understood why he was replaced until it was revealed later that Clive had been diagnosed with MS and it left him unable to play and tour. I'm glad you noticed the energy he is putting out during this song. It's quite something to see live played live \m/

I was in middle school the first time I heard Iron Maiden - was 14 the first time I saw them live in the 80's. Will be seeing them live for the 6th time in October at the age of 51 - Iron Maiden, like Rush and a few other bands have been the soundtrack for my entire adult life. It is always great to see other people appreciate them and experience them for the first time.
I grew up listening to this band being the favorite band of my dads and his 6 brothers in texas this album alone was played NUMEROUS times at bbqs and brings back so many memories, First concert when i was in third grade in Detroit was this band, and i can say listening to them never gets old, Bruce's vocal ability is legendary along with the entire band and will forever be the greatest metal band in my eyes.
Thumbs up all over the place for this one. This is one of the maidens most atmospheric and dynamic Tunes. It is a fan-favorite and there haven't been many tours that they did not play this song on. I would recommend the track fear of the dark as it is another great example of Maidens ability to touch on subtle and also explosive Dynamics. Good stuff. Cheers
I was in high school when I first heard Iron Maiden. I had just picked up and started learning to play the guitar 🎸 I was going on 16 and trying to learn all the great rock that was coming out at the time(Boston,Journey,Kansas,Styx,Van Halen of course)🤣 I wasn’t really into the real hard stuff but then I hear this song called “Flight of Icarus”by Iron Maiden” and it gave me goosebumps 😳and my whole outlook on rock changed in that moment🤔and to this day when I wanna go hard, they’re my go to band! Not long after that experience, I go to pick up a copy of the Guinness Book of World 🌎 Records which was a “thing”for me back then and I started thumbing through it and I saw that Iron Maiden had taken the crown from The Who as the LOUDEST BAND IN THE WORLD 🌍😆 A title which they held for quite a while🤟Y’all have got to hear Rime of the Ancient Mariner! It’s their “crowning achievement”It’s a long one, but trust me when I say it is well worth the sit down 😁 14:39

These reactions to 'Hallowed' never get old. I spoke to guy in work. We went to see Clutch. Awesome band. He said he's never been a Maiden fan but he likes 2 Minutes to Midnight. 'You're a Maiden fan, you just don't know it' ,😂 I've heard 'Hallowed' thousands of times but it always stands the hairs on the back of my kneck
40 years old and I still get shivers down my arms 👏🤟 Saw them at The Roskilde Festival back in '03. Not ideal playing in the afternoon in broad daylight if you ask me, but Maiden still always give you what you want. This is one of the rally epic hard rock songs ever recorded. A true masterpiece.

I love how new generations are appreciating Iron maidens genius and how it still stands up today. It validates how much I was into them back in the 80's . The bands incredible skills as story tellers and musicians. (Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the best story telling tunes to check out.) Part of the problem to get people to really listen to them for the first time back then was that the recordings of those first albums were not very good and the bass wasn't there unless you really had it blasting through the old Akai ProLab if you could afford one. So first time listeners a lot of the time only heard a racket coming out of a crappy stereo and could not hear the lyrics properly and promptly went scurrying back to their pop music. IM will always be number 1 for me, so many great memories and partys had listening to them. The worst thing did happen to our group of friends, We all pre bought tickets to the Power Slaves concert in New Zealand one town over when the new album was released and had been looking forward to it for weeks only to have a Wharfies strike in Australia prevent the set and PA gear getting here on time so the concert was cancelled ! It still hurts to this day that we missed the most iconic show they ever did. Very sad we just had to get drunk instead and wind up the stereo :( Cheers from NZ & "Up The Iron's"

The official video was recorded live in 1982 in Hammersmith days before the album was released and is better then the studio version. 40 albums,touring this year and almost 3k of concerts and the lead guitaristS playing in harmony.

I love how new generations are appreciating Iron maidens genius and how it still stands up today.
It validates how much I was into them back in the 80's . The bands incredible skills as story tellers and musicians. (Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the best story telling tunes to check out.)
Part of the problem to get people to really listen to them for the first time back then was that the recordings of those first albums were not very good and the bass wasn't there unless you really had it blasting through the old Akai ProLab if you could afford one. So first time listeners a lot of the time only heard a racket coming out of a crappy stereo and could not hear the lyrics properly and promptly went scurrying back to their pop music.
IM will always be number 1 for me, so many great memories and partys had listening to them.
The worst thing did happen to our group of friends, We all pre bought tickets to the Power Slaves concert in New Zealand one town over when the new album was released and had been looking forward to it for weeks only to have a Wharfies strike in Australia prevent the set and PA gear getting here on time so the concert was cancelled ! It still hurts to this day that we missed the most iconic show they ever did. Very sad we just had to get drunk instead and wind up the stereo :( Cheers from NZ & "Up The Iron's"

😂😂😂... I TOTALLY understand what you mean, being lost in the drums and guitars of Maiden. Hevenu been so since about 1983....this group was the one that took me to Heavy Metal and musiv in the first place.... I can still get chills listening to Iron Maiden 🙏
