Roller coaster of emotions from finding Melanie's beginner crochet videos several days ago, truly enjoying the specificities she goes into along with such a pleasant demeanor and then to find she's passed on and so recently. Such an odd feeling watching a stranger so full of life one moment, then coming across her health journey videos and finally the memorial ceremony. Sending love and good memories to the family. She seems like an amazing person to have been able to know and gave people globally quite the impact.
My sister thought she beat cancer, but it came back with a fury and she passed a couple years back. Cancer sucks. Prayers for her family. She bravely fought this and shared her journey.

This is very sad. I watched this video last summer. I never knew she was battling her cancer... I’m very sorry for your loss. I just watched her memorial, I cried so much. I feel very bad for her husband and I couldn’t watch him properly without shedding tears but it was a beautiful memorial… Thank you for being brave, open and letting us see what you have gone through. The life is so very unfair, why a beautiful soul like Melanie had to be taken away from us so soon?? She was my sunshine in my darkest days and she’s why I can crochet well. I crocheted my first garment with her guidance and I watched her how to bind quilts and I still watch her from time to time. Thank you Melanie and I’m sorry that you had to deal with such ordeal. Melanie, as a cancer survivor I share your feelings. The scariest part was trying to be strong and have a good attitude, for the people around me. They needed to know I would fight this and it gave them hope with their prayers, I did survive now 30 years later from a rare cancer roo. . It helps to watch you share your cancer, because so many need to see you and your positive attitude. The prayers, and concern are your healers.
What a terrible loss of such a wonderful young lady. My nephew died last year. He was diagnosed and told he had about 5 years. But he was gone in less than a year. So awful. So sorry to all her family.

I was already tearing up watching her last video about the positive results of her scan. I am heartbroken for her husband, children, family & friends. I will continue to watch her videos & the documentary when it comes out - and as she asked, I will pray for her family & loved ones.

When I decided to learn to crochet, I viewed lots of videos! When I saw Melanie in action, I knew I didn’t need to look further. Her tutorials were thorough and she gave me permission to take it at my own pace; if I needed to redo it, no worries! She was kind and always encouraged me to celebrate my victories. I want her family to know that, although I never met her in person, I felt as if I knew her. I won’t get an opportunity meet her in this life, but I am absolutely certain that I will know her in the next one. This is the promise that God gives us, and We can rest fully in it.
