    Melanie taught me how to quilt, start to finish, everything I know. She brought me on a journey I didn’t know I needed. She, single handedly, changed the trajectory of my life in a way I can’t describe. I’m forever grateful for her. I’ve now made several quilts that I’ve been able to share with loved ones, a timeless gift that can be appreciated for years. There was something so special about Melanie. ❤ she is so missed!

I never took her off my UTube page because of who she was. Bless you guys for sharing this with her fans. She is doing great things in heaven for us souls down here.

      I only just started to crochet again this week after shoulder and other joint replacements the last few years. I opened up RUclips for Melanie’s you beaut beanie tute to make 3 for my grandsons as it’s winter here in Australia. However, I was confronted straight away about this awfully sad news. I couldn’t believe it and to see the video, omg how dreadfully sad. Much love to Melanie’s family as I cannot begin to imagine the sadness you all must feel 💕💖

      My sentiments exactly @judy43070. She was the first person I went to for a baby blanket. Today I’m revisiting because a friend is pregnant and wants to make her own baby blanket, and it was a bittersweet thing to tell her “I know who’s teaching you!” And here we are! Her sparkling personality will live on through projects still made thanks to her, and in a way, with her.

    Melanie gave me such a gift in teaching me to crochet. I’ve passed that gift on in the form of presents for so many different people and even starting a crochet club at my school, passing her knowledge on to my middle school students. It’s been the best hobby, helping me find peace and deal with my anxiety. I can’t thank her enough. She is so missed.

    • @reneebuchanan4074
      @reneebuchanan4074 2 года назад +1

      Traci B I can almost completely echo your comments. Your anxiety was my depression. Your middle school students are my 8 yr old granddaughter. My mother is an extremely talented, very long time crocheter. Probably 30 yrs ago, give or take, I wanted to learn the art. My mom started teaching me but I couldn’t even make a square square 🥴This was in no way Mom’s fault!! In my youth at that time, I was always very physically active and had little tolerance for sitting that long. I just wasn’t ready to receive it. Fast forward many years and many changes in life, I found myself wondering if I was ready to focus and finally learn this art that I have admired over the years. As a lot of children do, I grew up and moved away from home. I didn’t have Mom close by for lessons. Fortunately there was this cool thing we call “RUclips “. I watched a few different channels, then found Melanie Hamm! A Godsend🙏🏻😇 Just like Traci B, Melanie gave me a gift. I made my first full size blanket for my great nephew from one of Melanie’s videos. Crocheting and gifting countless items over the years has brought me so much joy!! It brought me through some difficult years with health issues. Then 3 yrs ago my mom was diagnosed with cancer. The best part about Melanie teaching me to crochet is now having this beautiful art in common with Mom. When I go “home” to visit and to take Mom to appts, I always bring something I’m working on and I still always need help with figuring out my mistakes!! Haha. I’ll show her something that doesn’t look quite right and she’s always able to show me how to fix it. She has taught me some tips and tricks, some stitches I didn’t know yet, and continues to help me fine tune the gift that Melanie gave me. Thank you Melanie for the gift of a shared passion with my Mom. I know your family is well aware of the blessing they were given when God chose you for them ✨💝✨

    My daughter, now 13 yrs old, and I found Melanie about 5 yrs ago when I was trying to learn to quilt. We loved her videos and watched them all. My girl would ask if "Melanie Ham Sandwich" (sorry!) had a new video yet. We were both shocked when she first got sick and upset when she passed. So strange to feel such loss for someone we have never met. She was such a beautiful person and seemed so genuinely kind. Every now and then, my daughter or I will say "I still can't believe Melanie is gone". This doc will give us the closure we didn't know we needed. My little brother passed away suddenly in Aug 2020 at age 36 and I struggle everyday with that. It's just too young. Thank you and prayers for your family

    After I learned of Melanie's passing, I ordered some "In Memory of Melanie K. Hamm" tags to sew into her Easy Infinity Crochet Scarf pattern. When I received the tags from the Etsy maker, she included a note stating she knew of and missed Melanie as well. I then bought the Red Heart Roll With It yarn in every color they made...this is the yarn she made hers out of on her video. Hers was the first garment I ever attempted to crochet, and I felt I could do it due to her encouraging, upbeat attitude she displays in all of her videos. I still think about her all the time and I wish all those she loved the very best now and into the future. She was so loved and is so missed by millions of people around the world. I hope to keep her memory alive by sharing the scarves with my friends and family. We love you and miss you, Melanie.

    My grandmother is the one who introduced me to quilting, crocheting and crafting when I was a child. I spent nearly every weekend sitting with her at the kitchen table, learning and working on something new together. These are some of my most cherished memories. After she passed, I went into high school and then onto college, and much of the joy-filled crafting in my life faded into the background as new responsibilities took up all of my time and energy. It came to a point where I couldn’t remember most of the craft skills my grandmother taught me as a young child. During the pandemic, I needed to be creative and find joy again. Melanie was the one who brought it back into my life. She brought my grandmother back to me, and she and Melanie are here with me in every craft I do. I am so grateful for Melanie and her beautiful, radiant energy and kindness that came through in her teaching. I am forever thankful for her, and I think about her so often. I can’t wait to watch this documentary. Sending love to your family. ❤️

    I already had tears reading your blog Robert, so I can hardly see through the tears after watching the trailer. She will be very proud of what you have done, with the documentary, and also continuing her legacy and most importantly supporting and bringing up your beautiful kids.
    My best friend passed away with brain cancer a few years ago. I was horrified to see her husband moving on with other women only a couple of months later because she was too special, she needed to be missed and honoured. Of course I know all people grieve differently, but I think you and Melanie were the real deal, her amazing qualities and love have left an impact on you and your family. I really appreciate you sharing that with us. I still think of Melanie all the time and I didn’t even meet her. That’s the type of amazing person she was and will always be known to be through her videos. How precious for you all, especially the kids, to have access to her personality and voice and smile through her videos, and now the documentary as well, not to mention the wonderful memories they have. Thank you Robert and take care.

    I have thought about you all so much lately . . . . I have been working on baby blankets and it’s Mel’s pattern. She could have been my daughter age wise but what she was, was a GIFT to me at one of the darkest times in my life. I miss her.
    She will always be an example to me of strength, love and faith. Sending you, Robert much love and all of your family💗🙏🏻💚

    Omigoodness,😭 such a moving and beautiful tribute to divinely gifted and giving soul! She taught me how to crochet, when my beloved Daddy was dying from stage 4 brain cancer. Her RUclips tutorials were a lifeline for me, while I was drifting in a cloud of immeasurable pain and heartache. The many crochet hats that I made because of her, brought so much joy to my Dad. When I would send her a picture of my work. She would always respond with kind words of encouragement. She was a sweet, beautiful person inside and out. Her legacy will live on forever in the countless lives she touched. Sending hugs and prayers to you and your lovely family!❤️🙏

    I just found out, via another DIY channel, that dear Melanie was called home. We have lost a wonderful, beautiful, humble teacher. When I was first learning how to sew, it was Melanie's videos that I watched. Her videos made you believe that sewing was fun and easy, and anybody could learn. She gave me such confidence. I will miss new videos from her, but will always continue to watch her timeless content on YT. Yes, she's home now. Her presence here cannot be replaced, and will always be missed, but she is home. What joy in heaven when she arrived. RIP my lovely teacher.
