    This video shows you how to make a zippered box pouch with no raw edges. This is similar to my original box pouch video, but this one does NOT have exposed seams. I love both of these and they are both great for beginner sewers because they are free sewing patterns and are considered confident beginner easy sewing projects. Check out the other box bag pattern sizes at the blog post.

Love how the bag turned out, and also thank you for having both the video & the link to your blog with the written instructions. I loved you from the beginning of the first video I watched, and learned how to make a baby blanket. It really was so easy to make. So, I made two of them for my great grandchildren two boys. I was so proud to have made them, because you showed me how easy it was to make the stitch. I miss you dearly. Such a wonderful woman you were. You had everything going for you, you’re personality, beautiful lady. Inside and out. There was something very special about you. You’re talent exceed’s mine, and I’m old. I haven’t crochet since you left us to be with GOD. Hoping you’re pain has sufficed. It’s true that GOD only takes the good one’s first. HE needed an angel and dear that was you. I wish you peace., and I miss you. I hope this is ok to write this, if it even made any sense. I apologize in advance. I hope that you’re children and you’re husband are doing better these days. Thank you Mr. Ham for getting me to look back . Please take care.😢🥰🤗 Xox.

      @schisandra 4 года назад +11

      N S Khanum Good tip! If you don’t have a narrower foot, it might help to put something of similar thickness under the other side of the foot. That way, the foot is level instead of sideways. There’s also a little button on the back of certain feet that will do the same thing (raise the foot up to help go over thick spots). 😊

      N S Khanum That’s exactly what I had to do. I just made one tonight, and I had to switch to the zipper foot because I didn’t have enough room. It was a fun project, though! I used cotton fabric, but I wonder what else I can use that would give the bag a little more structure and sturdiness.

    Wonderful tutorial! One piece of advice- when you’re sewing the lining sides shut over the zipper teeth, it would be easier if you used a zipper foot. You wouldn’t have to force all that fabric under the presser foot because it would be out of the way. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much - I'm thrilled with the result ! I'm a real beginner and this tutorial is so carefully and brilliantly explained ! Reading the comments, I've just discovered that Melanie is no longer with us - what a wonderful legacy she leaves sharing her joy with so many. Thank you to her family for sharing.

    Thank you ! I loved the original and these are even better. Question - Can you PLEASE do a tutorial on an unfolding zippered box pouch? The only ones I have found on YT are in Korean (JSdaily "Unfolding Pouch" at ruclips.net/video/c4A_5iWbJbA/видео.html ) , Purtugese (Arte de P aninho Rosimary Cavalcanteor "Necessaire Malú" and "NECESSAIRE FANTÁSTICA FÁCIL DE FAZERz" and a German one that I can't seem to find right now. And even though watching them gives some insight, the measurements are needed and the construction directions are needed, all in English. I read all of the comments on each and a huge amount were asking for it to be shown in English or at least with sub titles. Could you do one?

    Loved your tutorial, and I like how slow and methodical you are. A thought:
    To really finish this bag off, you could leave your turning opening along the zipper edge of the lining. Only sew the outer fabric completely down, then sew the lining onto it, but with your opening. Then you sew around all the edges, box it out, turn it rights sides at the zipper, and top stitch it down and voila! No need to hand stitch, and no pinched seam in the bottom. Looks super professional!

      I would love to see this, I think I understand but I would have to see it to really get it. Similar to turning out a crossbody bag through the bottom of the interior pocket instead of the lining.

      I like that idea. Because I don’t like that ridge created on the inside bottom of the bag, and no hand sewing needed gives a stronger hold. Thank you!

      I’m really new to this, if someone who understands this tip could direct me to a video tutorial, if one exists, I would appreciate. I’m assuming you are describing a way to attach the lining to the main fabric at the boxed corners, but I have a difficult time with written instruction. Bless Melanie, I just loved how she taught. RIP Dear one

    When you sew over the lining/zipper, it'd be easier to move your needle position far left so you don't have to deal with the presser foot. Or even switch to a zipper foot. I've also done this bag where you sew through the outside and lining at the same time. You just sew in the center.

    Thank you for keeping her tutorials on here for us. I saved this video years ago and it has been helpful for me recently. Inflation is high, cost of living is tough, living paycheck to paycheck. I’m making these out of recycled denim (old pants from thrift stores). These are great unisex for toiletries and provide me with extra income for buying groceries & other necessities for my family. I was so sad when she passed away. She has left a legacy for so many of us. RIP Melanie, thank you for your tutorials. 🙏🏽 🕊️

    I've always made bags, but never a box one so was looking and Melanie popped up. I knew about her from other craft blogs, but decided to watch hers. So glad I did. She was a great teacher, and beautiful person that you can tell from her tutorials. Blessings to her family always. Glad the family decided to leave her channel up so we could still visit her. Hopefully, RUclips never takes them down. You are missed.

    I made my very first quilt 2 years ago following Melanie's tutorials. It was made so easy and enjoyable through her, and I found it so satisfying. I am returning to quilting just now and had forgotten the details, so I looked up Melanie's tutorials again. So so sad and shocked to see she has passed. What a vital, beautiful and talented soul. She gave a HUGE gift to us all, so thank you thank you thank you Melanie. These videos are SO well done. The best. Very grateful.

    Melanie - you really stand out in a sea of You Tube makers/crafters. Your tutorials are easy to follow, and you don’t leave any detail to chance (i.e. machine foot or seam allowance). I made one of these box pouches this afternoon and it’s super cute.
