I’m taking my 2017 Macan S in for a new transfer case the end of August. The dealer, Sunset Porsche in Beaverton, Or didn’t hesitate when I called to have it checked.
The service has been exceptional at Sunset.
I’ve had the Macan since it was new and have 27,000 on it. Totally trouble free.
Have been waiting for an allocation for a Carrera 4 since Oct 21. My rep thinks we may get the allocation in September.
I did an S model Macan and then optioned it the way I wanted it……and it worked out very nicely. Going to do the same with the 911.
And remember, a good dealer is as important as the car you buy.

When you have a car, out of warranty, covered by the manufacturer, given a Panamera as a loaner……THAT’s about as trouble-free as it gets.
Yep, they are expensive……but they are a prime example of getting what you pay for…..
Hey man great video! Always love the macan vids. I ordered a ‘21 base macan from euroclassics back in July and am planning to keep it forever. These are such amazing all arounders! (Although didn’t take delivery until December bc of the chip shortage then supply chain backup). Keep up the great content!

If i end up getting this car, ill switch all my oils and fluids to amsoil 100% synthetic. Which the oil itself helps prevent oil leaks due to it having 0% minerals and its detergents protect and lubricate the seals well.
$400-500? They may have just done the screw replacement (my dealer quoted me $800 for that fix), unless you’ mean the transfer case, which is a recall fix. Unfortunately, the timing chain cover leak is the bigger issue and not covered by a recall. I’ve been quoted the “official” fix at $10k. Macan Forum will confirm that price. I pulled a tech aside and asked him how many he sees and he said weekly…my friend has had it done twice! First time while under warranty and second as a courtesy since he buys a lot of Porsches. I’ve been researching this for the past two years, can you tell 😂. I may hold out for a 2020 to get the new engine
If you're talking about the two bolts that come loose, it's a cheap easy fix to just do yourself. It'd take someone with no mechanical skills maybe an hour and a half and there's YT videos on the process.

Is the timing belt cover bolts oil leaking actually a recall? I have this issue and I have seen nothing that say it is an official recall. Can you provide evidence that it is a Porsche covered recall. Thanks

You don’t have to do the engine out method! It’s actually DIY-able from your garage just look up the appropriate tutorial but it’s very doable
Great info thanks. Is it an S? Was lookin at these to replace my A4 and for my gf to drive but used prices are insane right now. Def a keeper for a bit unless you find something else you like and the dealer offers you crazy money.

Isn’t it 7 years beyond the factory warranty? 3+7 = 10 years on the transfer case.
No, it’s 7 years from the date the car first went into production. I bought a 2016 S, which I loved, until my transfer case went out. Bought a useless 3rd party warranty after being told that the original warranty expired. Found out a year later that the warranty actually expired almost a year after I bought the car when the transfer case went out. Porsche wouldn’t honor replacement & 3rd party warranty would only cover half with aftermarket parts. Finally got them to negotiate with my mechanic to use OEM parts & pay half the cost. Long story short, cost me $2700, 3 months in the shop, & just took it back in for a coolant leak & bad cover bolts. Beautiful car, but…
