    Thank you for reinforcing that functional and ideal are different. Ideal is not always necessary. I think social media almost ensures that everyone will critique EVERYTHING. So farmers go directly to ideal. Thank you for accepting that and making wonderful videos for us!

    NICE! We raised up some Blue Butts for meat pigs and they did GREAT! I think you will really appreciate them. The new boars look wonderful and I so hope they do well with the girls. When I saw the title of your video, I was laughing & had to tell my hubby about it so he could laugh as well! We recently "rescued" 35!!! pigs/piglets/boars of various breeds. The rancher was in deep financial trouble and had to get the pigs to a new place asap. We were racing around here to create enough pens & safely get this huge batch settled in. You just do what you have to do right? Im so happy that you got all the new babies! Best of luck and you are surely in all our prayers.

    Thanks for setting a good example by wearing the proper PPE when using the chainsaw. You often see a lot of people on TV or other RUclips videos not wearing so much as a pair safety glasses.....let alone chaps or a helmet. A chainsaw can screw a man up bad in an instant.

    Good looking Boer ..some Duroc's are darker then others we used to have registered Durocs you can have a full liter and have 2-3 lighter colors also sun light they will bleach out so raising them out side you will notice a difference vs barn raised ..we used to ship reg stock in to Oregon from a man in Ohio named perish he had a famous Boer named k mart that he bought at one the auctions he worked he named him k mart as he was a cheap price and he turned in to an awesome reg sire of seed stock ..

    Very nice Duroc boars! Hope they do well for your operation. New strong genetics is always a great addition!
    When I raised pigs for freezer camp I had Duroc’s. They were usually ready at 5.5 - 6 months with hanging weight of 250 to 350 lb. and great meat! Fed with self feeders and they grew out very well. Had a couple get huge and hung at 460 and 486 lb at 6 months. Was worried about quality of the meat because they were going to customers but both were really good flavor, tender and marbled beautiful on both pigs which surprised me and a relief..

  • @richardherren7558
    @richardherren7558 3 года назад

    Congratulations on your new Duroc boar. Nice confirmation! Quality breeding stock. Your Duroc and Berkshire genetics will provide you better carcass and meat quality. Also using pure boars from various breeds will maximize hybrid vigor in the offspring. Traditionally this is done by utilizing a three breed cross program. Duroc and Berkshire are excellent choices for two of the three.

      @@SheratonParkFarms Yup. If anything the boar will prep the pen for the later cattle. And as I understand it, different animals will benefit the small pasture differently.

    Pigs can completely destroy woods. I've seen it. They root around until all the trees are affected
    and die. Maybe in the wild, not so much as they have more territory and less pigs to roam. But
    put a herd of pigs in say, seven acres of woods with little else to eat, and they will kill every tree
    in that wood.
