***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 3 new videos every week! Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

Myrtle and Sage because I like extra sage in my sausage.
best name!!
Love these names!!
perfect :)
Slow Shed Garage I like sage.
Sage is a winner me likey :)
While everyone’s losing their minds clearing out Walmart of toilet paper and food these two don’t skip a beat. Refreshing, thank you.
They have been working on food security for a while. Their food is secure. They won't run out of food because they have it there growing. Whereas the rest of us have to rely on commercial food.
@@teresagg9809 I'm going to plant a mega garden in my back yard this spring! I'm a terrible gardener but hopefully some of it will come up. Stay well!
It's what I was thinking watching this video, and then seeing the date it was made. It's great watching a video made within the past week where the topic of the virus was never mentioned even once. I would've believed that this video was made one year ago if I hadn't seen the date it was made
@@ChickensAndGardening just keep at it, youll get better, i hadnt done much since i was a kid, my dad grew up on a ranch in New mexico so we always had one back in the day.. im lucky i live in the san joaquin valley the soil and sunshine are fantastic here. when i move to nevada im bringing the soil from my raised beds with me.. the soil is way better here then up there
@@alvexok5523 👏👏👏💕
My wife and I have been watching for a week or so . love what you both are doing . we are 74 years old. Love when you say God bless.
Call the second one “Beach” so when you call them, it will be Myrtle Beach! Easy to remember!
Ethel sounds like a good old fashioned name
Ethel was my first choice also.
Nancy Zawol Mine, too! It was my grandmother’s name. ❤️
Totally my choice. ❤️❤️
Ethel Mae is what I thought of right away.
i looked at her and thought Ethel. so many of us think alike.HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Maude and Myrtle!
Maude is what I was thinking
THANK YOU!!! I got to see the ducks again. :D
One of the great things about having a dedicated feeding station is that you can pour a pretty rough concrete pad, just in front, leaving pretty gritty. That will take care of all of the hoof trimming needs so that you don't have to wrasle a 300-pound pig to trim its toes
Super idea.
@Darrell Knox I would think it would need to be deep enough so that the back hugs are on it when they eat. That's just a guest from an inexperienced person
unless pasture pigs are different I have raised pigs for 30 plus years never trimmed hoofs but my hogs were ran on standard Missouri ground IE rocky .
I love those ducks, they remind me of someone running late and trying to catch a bus when they go running out in the mornings.
And they are so chatty
Wasn't there originally 9 ducks??
@@kathleenmoritz108 A fox or other predator got one just a few weeks ago in broad daylight. It was missing at shut up time in the evening. They looked and looked for it in case it had an accident and needed help or a vet, but they never found it, so they decided it must have been taken by a predator. I'm not sure how many there were in the beginning. You can't watch all your stock all the time and things do happen.
Me too! And Hope! She's so sweet!
Especially the Frantic arm waving Wing flapping that they do.
When I was a kid we had two hamsters named Myrtle and Gertrude . We called them Myrt and Gert.
Charlie was showing some lameness in his rear when he came off the trailer. I could still see some in the second film with him in it. Obviously a boar needs to be able to mount a sow, keep an eye in him. Nothing horrible just some stiffness. I wonder if. His feet are in good trim? This is something you could check and do yourself. I wouldn’t feed him more than the sows or I would make sure some of his portion of food is lower calorie veggies to keep him a lean mean healthy 🐗...
omg the baby pig with spots......I nearly died from the cuteness....lol
You guys bring back so many wonderful memories of my youth. The pigs and chickens I was ok with but the cows I was afraid of. When my Mom would milk the cows and the cow would not stand still I was always scared that the cow would trample Mom to death. But my mom would just smack them and tell them to get over and kept on milking. While Mom milked all the cats would come into barn and want some milk and of course Mom would squirt milk to each cat. I so enjoy all your videos so keep them coming, they keep me calmer during these bad times. ❤️U guys
I have a short story to tell you .. one of my favorites about pigs. My daughter at 2 years old saw a small pig at a farm we were visiting and she asked me " Mom can I have a bite of him, he looks delicious " I said "No sweety not today " She said " WHY NOT ? IS HE RAW ? I laughed so hard and to this day i still laugh at it. she is 30 this year and would kill me if she knew i told the world.... It's a good time for laughter I think. Nice pigs btw
OMG!!! I LOVE them!!! Please! Show em often! Like our ducks, I just want to hug all of them!!!
Thanks for showing the baby pigs. I can't wait for you all to have baby pigs!!!
I love that the pigs snuggle together when sleeping. So cute. It will be fun to watch the little one’s grow!!
The dog says wait a minute ,where are you taking my pigs?
I love to watch you feed your animals, you do it with love, treating them the way it should be. I also love your farm. So clean!,! . May God bless you and all your extended family.
I appreciate all your videos and your integrity in all y’all do! Thank you!
I live in N/E Arkansas have the same rain pattern as you'll. I have went to all raised beds as I was tired of starting my garden in June. Missed all the Spring planting. I have been able to start my garden already. Love your vids. Bless
We are going to all raised gardens here in Texas as well for so many reasons as well. Rain, bugs, bending over, watering etc... We did a trial of 4 small raised beds and those are doing better than our entire large garden. We are beginning the building of them this week.
I can't believe that the pigs still were sleeping in the trailer and truck after your ride home! they are definitely "chill" pigs... 🤩
I LOVE your videos! I am really confused as to why anyone would “thumbs down” them.. 👍🏼👍🏼
Myrtle and Martha. Congrats on the new family. God Bless you and keep you healthy.
you’re killing me with your t-shirt!!!!!! 🤣🤣
Donna * Lovin’ Texas .........hi Donna, i am a vegetarian! i have been since i was a wee little one. just don’t like it. 🤷♀️ it’s hilarious to see him wear it as he’s working with the pigs! you enjoy your shirt! let me know what kind of reactions you get. 🤣🤣. i just may get one myself!
As always the Mighty Quacken is prepared to stampede the feeding station.
Reminds me of Gold Shaw farms, "release the quakins"!
I absolutely love pigs and I have to say you are living a wonderful life. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Idaho Pasture Pigs. So pretty.
You know that Pyrenees was watching you take his pigs. If that guy wasn't there that dog wouldn't have let you take them. They great dogs, we have two.
Do you keep the dogs in with your pigs, like for other livestock?
It sure looked to me like that dog was saying, "These are MY pigs." Clearly showing ownership.
Myrtle and Maybell! Once again, you’ve taken me back to my childhood on our farm. Thank you for sharing your life on the homestead!
How stinking cute are those sleeping babies! Love them!
It has to be so much better than confinement . For them and the quality of meat. Thanks for sharing.
Charlie sounded like a grumpy old man when Kevin woke him from his nap 😂😂
Myrtyle and and Ethel
We love raising pigs! They are fun and so entertaining!!
Those are some laid back pigs. I never tire of those ducks coming out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have had a lot of rain in the east also everytime you want to do outside work it rains! The excitement you both have for your pigs is nice to see!
When I saw the girls come out of the trailer their ears were flopping so I thought Flopsy and Mopsy might be good names for the sows. I like old fashioned names for farm animals - Gertrude, Gladys, Ethel, Elsie, Florence, Hilda...
Esther for the one sal. Proud of your adventure into having your own pig world. I love the ducks too. You two are so cute with your excitement.
So happy for you guys! You are wonderful people!
I get it now where the saying 'eats like a pig' comes from! Lol! Smack smack smack! I am gonna have fun watching the pigs.
Alabama's having a tough time with all of the rain too. I do raised beds (like what you have in your greenhouse, just shorter) and thankfully they have done really well since they can drain.
Welcome to your new home CHARLIE & the crew 💜🐷🐷🐷
Ineze for the pig! I too love watching when you let the ducks out. But I love everything about your videos. Never get tired of watching you’ll. Glad you’ll are doing ok. Stay safe and healthy.
Yes, perfect: Myrtle and Sage...or Parsley. 🤔 Congratulations, Sara and Kevin, on your latest additions! JDB
Watching y'all makes me wish I was younger so I could homestead also. The pigs all look delicious and Hope is so pretty. I love watching how much you two enjoy your way of life. May God be with you for every step you take!
OMG those baby pigs are just so darn cute!
Truffle. Oreo. Muffin. Wattle. Petal.
Looking good, smart and cute! Enjoy them and have fun while you’re at it. As Kevin always say, they have a lot of “character” in them and they are super adventurous! All GOD’s BEST to you both, your lovely children & your loved ones.e 🌾🍇🕊
Myrtle and PEARL would be a good mix. She also looks like she had a Pearl necklace on. Love the new additions to your family. Have a great day. And God Bless!
When I was a kid, we had a sow named Hester. She looked just like that red one with the babies when you were picking up the pigs.
We had a bore when I was growing up and his name was Henry.
Awww bless Kevins in pig heaven.....love it
Love the coloring of your new piggies! What a awesome workin 🐶! Awe the babies are so little and sweet!
It must become wonderful meat. I know Durac, we have them here in Denmark, and the meat is so very good. Your way of showing and telling us all about the things you do at your homestead is such an inspiration to me. My husband is not very interested in gardening and animals (he loves to eat the things) as I am so your videos give me a lot of energy, thank you so much.
Pearl for the second sow.
Super excited to see the pigs join the farm operation!
Porky loves his new home.
Boy is he in for a surprise in 6 months time.
Every time I see the ducks run, it reminds me of the children's book Madeline. When the nuns are running because Madeline is sick.
I second the name Hazel for the other sow.
Susie'sSoap&Stuff hazel is perfect! We had a hampshire named hazel was my favorite pig very friendly
The ducks make me so happy!
Pigs are by far our favorite animal to breed and raise on our farm! Happy new adventure to you guys!
hey send us some rain over here in Australia, we certainly need it. Love you guys
Yes please!
You can have some of ours too! I live in East Tennessee and we have had a plethora of it.
Name or the second girl - Myrtle and Maple pig
Can’t wait to see their babies
Hope is just beautiful now!
It is nice to see that life is normal somewhere!
Pig name: Gertrude.
Also, if you're planning on selling piglets next year we are very interested in a few!
Same name I was thinking about.
Noooooooo That was my mother's name.
LOL I thought Gertrude too!~ "Gertie"
Pig name: Petunia. Perfect with Myrtle. They are both flowers!
Have you sold your goats already?
Hope is looking Amazing!!she is going to be a great momma
My daughter has been breeding kunekune pigs for 4 years now. Homesteaders love them because they do not root. They graze like goats or sheep. Really cool pigs that do not tear up your fields.
Hi Livin Traditional Homestead! I think the female pig.. "Willow"
Or Miss Piggy!
So happy for you guys. Those piggies are gorgeous and I especially love Miss Myrtles face. How about Maude for her friend. The M&M mamas.
OH MY GOSH! PIGLETS!!!!! They are soooo cute!
Awww. such sweet pigs.... You are blessed!
LOVE THE PIGS!! Myrtle is a great name! I would name the other one Thelma. Just a suggestion... I’m sure you’ll give her a good name. 😊
Here's a name for the other pic, Lily Tomlin. She would snort as the Operator.
love your videos, always learning from you both, thanks GOD BLESS.
Such pretty pigs! Congratulations! Omg I have to watch this again!
Ethel .... kinda goes with “Myrtle”
She looks like a “Mabel” Myrtle and Mabel
I love watching the ducks!!!
So happy for you guys. You seem so happy to finally have you new piggies for your farm. I’m so envious of you. You are living the mist fabulous life. I know that it’s a lot of work, but the enjoyment makes it all worthwhile. Also, so nice to see the running of the ducks. Stay safe and God Bless 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐓🐓🐓🐥🐥🐥🐄🐦🙏🏻🤗🤗🤗
I vote for Pearl for Myrtle's friend!
Eloise, Bella, Sandy, Carmella, Camille...
Or, since you already have a cow named Hope, why not choose the name Faith??? Hope & Faith generally go hand-in-hand.
Love the names others suggested...Hazel, Gertrude, Maude, Sage, Petunia.
I agree, Faith
Sorry, my mind is wandering. For now, am going to forget the feeder pig's. They were budgeted for. But, Charlie, Myrtle, and ?, weren't. Am sure they weren't cheap. Focus on that expense. If "?" is bred in October 2020,, gives birth February 2021, piglets live to maturity, October 2021, to provide Kevin & Sarah with meat for the next year, October of 2022 !!! That's an expense that is taking them over 2 1/2 years out.
If THAT doesn't prove that they now have "FAITH"
on the Homestead, nothing does.
Sorry all, in these trying times we have been doing our part to help by self isolating and haven't been out in public for about 10 days. We aren't sick so that's a plus. Just needed to talk to someone. Thanks for listening. Thanks for sharing Kevin and Sarah.
Be safe all, and "Keep the Faith"
Mark
@@marktoldgardengnome4110 I know the feeling. I started a cold Saturday morning about an hour after I got up. I do have allergies and am used to those, but suddenly I was having to blow my nose a *lot.* I went into the bathroom and got the bottle of zinc tablets and started sucking on them. I'm much better after only four days, so that zinc seemed to work, in spite of the icky taste it left in my mouth. That's the first cold I have had in 6 years. Before that it was about 10 years or maybe more. A *lot* happened during last week and the week before in my life and most of it was pretty unpleasant, so I bet stress had a lot to do with getting caught by the cold. Once I'm sure I'm not contagious I need to go get a thing or two. Had an unexpected expense and the vehicle at the shop for most of week before last, so when I got it back and went shopping the stores all looked as if the locusts had come through them and I couldn't get all I needed. Hopefully, I will be able to get enough to last for quite a while, but I have limited storage space and I need to be mindful that there are others who have needs as well as I do.
I like that one too...Faith
Hope and faith are good..my name is Joy let's not call one that please...lol
Love watching the ducks!
Love you guys. God bless your family.
Maggie was my first choice, but after that I throw my vote in with the many who think Ethel, either sound good with Myrtle. :)
I am kind of partial to Gertrude as that is my name - Myrtle Gertrude Lester.
Awesome Beautiful pigs can wait to see how they will be doing on your farm God bless you all 👍👌💖💗🙏.
The piggyness of pigs is so cute
Phyllis McGuinness, because she has the black and cream of the drink Guinness.
How about Mavis? It is a name with a French derivation meaning “Songbird.”
Good choice 'Mavis.' It was my father's middle name. He deserves a pig named after him! Hahaha! 💜 😄
I’m so excited for you and I can’t wait to see baby piglets!
I'm so happy for you both!
Myrtle is an old-fashioned name, so, how about Gertie for the other!
I like that ! My mother's Aunt name,,,lol and she was very sweet too, like your new pig.
I have a cat named Gertie. As a kitten her purr sounded like an old lady that was a heavy smoker...gravel Gertie
@@hermithag cute,😊💜
That was my first thought too. Gertie!
Myrtle and Mildred were my grandmother’s names!!😳
Awesome!
Mildred was my mom's name, Gertrude and Lucille my grandmothers. Lol
I’m so happy for you. Yay pigs.
You make me Happy! Thank You! :-)
you should name her after my ex-wife..MARIA!!!
john quiterio You bad 😀
Bad john... very naughty .. report to the naughty corner !
You are so blessed. God gets all the credits.
good for you guys, I think it is great timing with everything going on.
Sarah & Kevin, thank you for the video and for sharing all the excitement on the Homestead. The pigs will be an interesting aspect and topic regarding future videos. I did notice the workout Kevin has enjoying while carrying the young pigs to their new home, smiles. I also need admit missing the ducks being let out each morning. So many exciting things on the Homestead this year. Promises to be exciting for sure. You both are such a source of joy and hope for many of us.
God Bless,
Rob Schroeder (Rockford MI)
