An awesome masterful piece of an album! Nothing lessthat you can expect from the source of the best POP in the world (in my humble opinion)...U.K.! THX 4 sharing it with US, sounds of the getting-more-treasured 80's!
Of all his songs this to me is his best work. Also great video. This guy is and always will be an ICON of the 80's. Thank You Mr. HOWARD JONES (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!
In this song, the Yamaha DX7 internal patch “Bass 1”/VRC-101A patch “Bass 1”/PA-Decoder Volume 4A/D1: Studio Mix patch “Carlos”/ROM-1A patches “Brass 1” and “Strings 1” and “Strings 2” were heard.
I grew up listening to his music, loving his electronic music very much. His amazing base line with the Roland Jupiter-8 and the Yamaha DX7!!! Still love his first album Human's Lib, amazing synth sounds and that classic drum machine with great lyrics and voice. I may try making a cover for this song using my beloved Yamaha DX7!!!
HoJo has been my life. Still gives me goosebumps. Miss the old days visiting the much missed and much loved Thelma and John in Green Street High Wycombe.
I was there in the 80's too. Did everything. Party every 7 nights a week. Now that I looked back at it, once was enough for me because you have to go forward in time no matter what happens to you. You cannot stop the future. God will take care of that.To put it bluntly, respect your memories in life. I will (From 976-CREOLEMAN).
The deep meaning behind this song is real life. I believe this message is if you don't step out of your own fear you become your own enemy and as a result can spend your entire life in fear and dread of things not working out..the fear of the future and the world around you can make you live in isolation and the longer you let it go on you wake up one day old and regretful because you led a life of fear instead of action and living up to your potential.
What I love about Howard Jones's music is that it really gets you thinking about things! He does'nt sing about negative things like doing drugs, drinking,or cheating on your wife,or anything like that!Or I've never heard him sing about anything like that, anyways! He sings about positive things, mostly!
And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing Under his nose was a dream come true Been there all the time and he almost knew And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing Under his nose was a dream come true Been there all the time and he almost knew Thoughts of people in misfortune stopped him doing things well His duty was to use it - left his pearl in the shell
Saw you in Niagara this month. Blessed with 2nd row and you are as amazing now in voice and performance as you were when I saw you in the 80's. Thanks for the memories and the decades of great music, Mr. Jones!
There really is no decade for great music like 1980s way ahead of anything that's out today. I feel very sorry for kids of today as don't know what good music sounds like they should listen to Absolute 80s and watch Top of the Pops on BBC 4 at 7:30pm on Thursday and Friday at the moment they are just going into 1984 which was the year this fantastic tune came out. 1980s for ever
@@julieevans3426 Totally agree, Howard Jones is very much underated by many people, but he wrote and produced some great songs through the 80's and beyond.👍

This is most certainly one of the more dramatic pieces during the might and hight of the eternally known Gentleman, Mr. Howard Jones. Hopefully sales reflected his popularity as he stands on a sacret spot inside all of us who happened to be very young and alive at the time. I'll chip in if anyone wants to crowdfund an oversized bronze cast statue of Mr. Jones.

There is a deep and profound message in this video: If you think you are about to perform with a tenor and actually have a sopranino, women will laugh at you.
I agree. I read an interview about this song and it has a deeper meaning. Yet, it has this great rhythm, and the brass section is just brilliant!! It's a masterpiece!!
