Posting for the other creative weirdos out there: My Bf who is a contract painter happened to be sitting next to me while i watched this (playing elden ring). I asked his opinion about how much expensive primer matters, and he confirmed Dani's statement (to an extent). Since drywall really sucks up the paint, Dani is 100% correct that when priming drywall there is absolutely no point in buying expensive primer. However, when priming other materials (like metal, brick, stucco, etc) it is important to get specific primer (which could be expensive), because if you dont get the right primer for that stuff the paint wont stick right and other issues might happen. Anyway, just confirming that Dani was correct! Save yourself some money when priming drywall:) 🖌

Did his SAG contract expire, or his agent demand more and better treats? 🤣 Yes, your persistence and dog-less (um dogged) determination was both inspirational and humbling. The progress you made was phenomenal. The studio space is looking great and will be such an incredible backdrop for all you endeavours,. But not even one brief cameo appearance by Kenobi. Awesome to see your space coming along! I am the sole painter and drywaller for a construction company and I can confirm, there is no hot sweaty mess like a paint spraying hot sweaty mess! 🤣 I get disposable dust suits when I know I'm doing a lot of it, and usually cut the legs off. They are more breathable than the full "bunny suit" that keeps liquids out. No matter what though, the respirator gets sweaty! Couple that with the hat, gloves, and long pants, plus covering up all the windows and it becomes a tropical, paint scented greenhouse. 😅
That is so much work, and it looks SO GOOD. You’re doing an amazing job, Danie! I’m perpetually amazed and inspired by your skill and ability to keep going, even when it starts to suck. From one quasi-burnt out DIYer to another, you’re doing a lot, don’t forget to give your body a break 🫡🤘🏼

I started using Craftsy before they changed their name (and then changed it back). With internet and sites like Craftsy, Ravelry, Facebook, and RUclips, we have so many resources when we want to learn a new craft. Compared to 1970, when I was sitting in my bedroom with a 50 cent book from Woolworth’s and a hairpin lace frame, trying to teach myself a new skill 🙄….we are so fortunate to have help at our fingertips. (That’s also how I learned macrame, knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, Hardanger, quilting, and crochet.) I have studio envy! My room is 15 ft x 24 ft, but it houses six sewing machines and three circular sock knitting machines (CSMs), plus fabric and yarn stashes. I tell people that it’s plenty of space…I just have to move from station to station sideways 😁.

Wow! I think you work harder than anybody I’ve seen! Tackling all these big jobs by yourself is really something. I love how your studio is turning out, I’m soooo jealous! And I like hearing rain on a metal roof, the house I grew up in had very little if any insulation in the attic with a tin roof (I live in Texas so that was survivable here) and I think rain on the roof is a very soothing sound. Can’t wait to see more of this series 💕
