I honestly don't think you could compare both, I mean each drone is design to certain types of filmmaker/photographer. I shoot a lot of corporate, golf events and weddings, apart from the weddings most of my work goes to Instagram cause that's the tool that most of my clients use. I had the mavic air( which I sold yesterday) because it was for me a Run n Go drone, it was light and portable and I mostly travel with one camera bag, if it doesn't fit in my bag I don't buy it. So, for me the air 2 is a no brainer and is a huge upgrade. I used to struggle a lot with the Air1 and it's wifi signal. The occusync 2.0 is a HUGE, at it's very best, the reason to buy this drone. Again, if you're a run n go filmmaker or photographer, this one is for you. Now, get the MP2 if you really want that extra bump in post production and if you're doing professional work at another level. But honestly, the air 2 is a no brainer.

I would totally go with the Air 2 and I have a 2 Pro. The 2 Pro requires a significant amount of work to process the video because the standard profiles are a mess (the Air 2 corrects this) and it is significantly softer an image than the Phantom 4 Pro despite both having a 1 inch sensor. I love my drone, and I'm not about to trade down but I can't help but feel the 1 inch sensor and camera system in the 2 Pro were hobbled considering the price and now the "real" super crisp and without limit 1 inch sensor will be in the Mavic 3. When you consider the Air 2 has BETTER range, works with the DJI Smart Controller if you want, has certain modes the 2 Pro doesn't, better battery life, better range than ANY other Mavic drone from DJI at any price it seems a non brainer when you consider it is half the price of the 2 Pro. Unless you have very, very specific niche camera needs and a lot of time to spend in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut X I recommend the Air 2. I *hope* the Mavic 3 (which will be $1500 I'm sure) will be the following... 1) the highest quality 1 inch sensor camera in any drone ever made, even better than the Phantom 4 Pro 2) a single model which integrates the mechanical zoom to the 1 inch sensor vs. separate Zoom/Pro models and 3) the best autoflight and follow modes ever seen on a DJI drone approaching or equalling what Skydio has done with their incredible technology.
@@canyonblue737-8 Thanks man for taking the time to write such an elaborate answer. I have pre-ordered the Air 2, and I think I will be happy with that. Significant upgrade from my old Mavic Pro. I'm also on the fence waiting for the Mavic Pro 3, but I don't think I can wait, haha. Can always sell this later on if I want to. I like the new functions on the Air 2. I almost never shoot in low light situations, so I guess the 1/2" sensor will do just fine for my needs, and the FMC includes ND-filters if it's too bright outside :)
@@ACaseyPodcast I have the Mavic 2 Pro and i don't want to change to the air 2. Unfortunately I can not edit the 10bit with my computer so well, but for a professional use definitely the 2 Pro not the Air 2. I am waiting for the Mavic 3...
@@ACaseyPodcast Absolutely get the Air 2 compared to the original pro. The original pro is closer to the original Mavic in quality, which is already getting kinda crappy.
Anthony Italiano thanks, I like the smart controller and the tracking without the controller on the pro but I reckon the air 2 still had more to offer most likely
I am looking to video ocean scenes, dolphins, sharks, etc.. Which would you recommend for an amateur point and shooter video/photo and not one that wants to change the color, etc on a computer?
I’m getting the Air 2 because it’s smaller and more in my budget range but damn I’d be lying if I said the image quality looks better than the M2P. the dynamic range on the M2P.. those GREENS.. Hopefully color grading will help achieve that look
MA2 image was exposed noticeably darker. Also, the white balance is wildly different and tinted more green on M2P. Without a RAW vs RAW comparison, these really don’t tell much.
Great video. Question if you have time to answer. It looks like the air 2 would be better suited for real estate photography due to 48mp. If you were more Photography than video. Which would you choose? Thx for your time.🥃🥃
I wouldn't say at the end of the year 'cuz DJI have already released 4-6 products this year...? I don't know but you get the point. I would say they will release it in 2021. Beginning the year breaking with the Mavic 3 lol but hey, I agree with you, the Mavic 3 would be dope.
Hi. Nice review! I'm the owner of a mavic 2 pro and when I go to quickshots in Go 4, the camera automatically goes to 1080p/30fps. At minute 10 you are saying mavic 2 pro stay with the settings we originally have it, so how can do that, to take quickshots in 4k or even 1080p/24fps? Thanks
The side and upward sensors only work in the ultra-slow flying "Tripod" mode on the M2P. I ride a onewheel too! and I make tracking videos with my Mavic Air. It is not perfect, but in nice, open areas you can make some sweet vids.
Enjoy your videos. Can you please answer a question? Unable to find answer anywhere. Does the USB C port on the drone function to CHARGE? On the original MA, it only was useful for file transfer or firmware updates. Thanks.
I had the smart controller but returned it because we still have to sync your Wi-Fi from your phone to it. It’s not a standalone unit which I thought it was so you might as well just use your phone
@@alexstevens9739yeah, you're right. Also the 48MP had me jealous for a bit lol. I realized it's only for jpeg and 12MP for raw. So, I'm good but it's a significant upgrade from the mini or mavic air 1.
Kai Wen Yung definitely. But not worth it since we already have the Mavic 2 pro. Maybe if all we had was a mini or the old Mavic air then yes but I love my Mavic 2 pro
@@weareallwinchesters7214 mine also...I'm inclined for this one for sure. The Air I doesn't provide such professional photo and video as this one. What do u recommend.
WeAreAll Winchesters Yes it looks like it. I almost bought the Mini which seams awesome for the price but car repairs came in the way so a drone purchase got put on hold. Now I got some money to spend and I think the Air 2 will be worth the extra money. Going to be so nervous flying it the first time since it’s roughly $1200 :O
You said if you’re into photography the Mavic air 2 is the clear winner. As an amateur photographer that just does not seem correct to me. How can a half inch sensor with the quad bayer filter on 12 megapixels making it 48 megapixels be better than an actual 20 megapixel sensors. The larger sensor and the larger pixels is just going to make it better not just for low light photos but for All Photos. Add to that the ability to control your aperture and I don’t see where there’s even a comparison as to which would be the best. Please show me where I’m wrong.
By the way, completely unfair comparison!😂 The fact that the air 2 has 90% as good of an image as the M2P, with a couple features that are more advanced even, is amazing for a drone that costs HALF the amount of the other.
Are you guys shoot part of this video on a panasonic gh5 or s seriers camera on autofocus? Because you're getting some serious focus pulsing on some of these shots.
I downgraded from the original p4, to original mavic and now I have the Air 1. There's just a lot of things to love about the air especially as a traveler/outdoors-man. It's so small and fits everywhere. Quality is good enough, this just doesn't check a lot of those boxes.
@@CheeseOnEverything true! But to make it perfect... OcuSync, Hyperlapse and the cam rotating 90° like the Mavic Pro in order to take vertical photos (idk, the stitch never satisfied me). For the rest it's a great drone :)
Ian Quyck If you're looking for the better camera keep the Phantom. I came from a Phantom 3 Pro to the Mavic 2 Pro though, and the change in portability is awesome (and the better camera too!)
Hey guys when do you think Mavic 3 will be release. I plan to buy zoom 2 but now since air 2 is out I think 3 series will come around November. As 2 series was released around Nov 2018. So I sold mine Yuneec 500Q 4K and I think I would by Mavic Mini and wait for 3 series. .
Btw the Air 2 “48 Megapixel Photos” is just a marketing ploy. It takes four 12 MP photos and combines them together to make one photo. If you do the same with the Mavic 2 Pro you will get an 80MP photo 🤷🏻♂️ even more awesome 😂
Infinity Drone Solutions WA It’s not actually it’s actually 4 * 12MP sensors stacked on top of each other (so it actually is 48MP) the reason it’s stacked and not just one 48MP sensor is that this allows each sensor layer to be controlled separately. So each of the layer can take photos at different exposures and be combined into one HDR shot without having to take multiple photos. I hope DJI make this more clear though!
I have DJI Mavic Air (MK1) is it worth to pay for upgrade? Since in Europe its 1000euro fly more and i can sell mine for 450-500 maybe.... Is it worth that 500euro?
Just traded my mavic pro platinum for a mavic air 2 was this a good swap? The air 2 is really cool but lack of manual controls makes me think it wasn't worth it idk can someone help me out with this because I can still trade back for my pro 🙏
Owned the original air and still got the Mavic 2 Pro...was tempted by reading updates on the air 2 release until I saw your video. Really good job on getting into the finer details, knowing its 8-bit vs 10-bit, and that the air still doesn't have an adjustable aperture, which is a deal-breaker for me as I hated having to always swap ND filters on the air to get that sweet spot on shutter speed. Thanks for the review, well done!
Hello, it's been two years since I own the Mavic air so it would be time to change and move to a higher range. I hesitate a lot between the Mavic 2 pro and the Mavic air 2. For me the advantages of the Mavic 2 pro are the one inch sensor and the obstacle sensors 360. And the advantages of the Mavic air 2 are the 4K 60 FPS the weight and the less bulky size and the more pleasant remote control and the HDR in film. (For the price whatever I can afford for the two drones so it's not the price that will influence my choice) the problem with the Mavic air 2 is that the automatic modes do not support the 4K 60 FPS and I happen to be using it for half of my time. So I tell myself that it would be better to take the Mavic 2 pro with an additional one inch sensor (but is there really a big difference between the half inch and one inch sensor?) But it's true than on the Mavic air 2 even if the 4K60 FPS is available only in manual mode it is always much more pleasant to have a smooth video. (Knowing that I film all in 4K) after I don't know if in terms of software and artificial intelligence, it is more developed and effective on the Mavic air 2 than on the Mavic 2 pro or if there is really a big difference. So it would be very kind of you if you can tell me which drone to take. I’m sorry for the spelling mistakes because I’m French and I do not speak English perfectly 😁.
Ordered my Air2 this morning, super stoked! I shoot a ton of wildlife, underwater and landscape photos and this is my first drone. I think my timing was pretty good bc this drone looks kick@ss especially under $1k
Hi! Thanks for review. You say you would recommend Air 2 over Mavic Pro (1). I noticed, there is no any gain in terms of photo quality with Air2, moreover Pro produces more clean and detailed image. What can you say?
Great job. I love my original Mavic Air, but longer flight is the one thing I would really appreciate. Bummed to learn that the MA2 doesn’t use the GO4 app. I’ll be considering it for sure though. Thanks for info!
I have a M2P and love it when it works, but I have gimbal shakes after 3-4 minutes. Even changed a bunch of gimbals.Still does it. I just preordered the Air2, it looks fine to me. Are any of us shooting movies for theaters? Most of our stuff ends up on youtube, enough said.. Great review. Thanks for taking the time in the heat!
I watched this video in 4k on my 5k retina display and I've got to say, I liked the Mavic Air 2 in most of the shots. I've been watching a bunch of videos and for some reason the footage I'm seeing in most cases off of the Mavic Air 2 looks better. If you need a drone now for stills or video I'd say go fro the Air 2. You can always save up for whenever they come out with the new Pro which I'm sure will be great.
In 12:16 you try to show how M2P good in low light. But when you check reflecting shadows on the walls, we cleary see you did MA2 recording at later time during the day. Which means it will be obviously darker. Thanks for the vid!
yeah nice find, but as the position of sun changes(not neccesarily later), you can see with the top of the trees actually more light was coming into the frame,
Thank you so much then I keep my Mavic 2 pro . Is it possible that DJI does an update to the Mavic 2 pro to 4K 60 ???? Also I need a new PC system for video editing with Da Vinci Software ...my budget is around $2000 ..but I want a really good Video card please ..What would you suggest me ??? Or should I do Apple which is more expensive for sure....I wait for your reply.
The M2pro could not even do 4k 30 without -presumably- overheating and burning chips, so DJI -presumably- had to resort to line skipping, and thus the M2pro video is softer in non cropped mode than M2zoom and MAir2. LOL about achieving 4k60 with software upgrade...
Meta11axis yes but i think mavic 2 air will be better when dji release and upade on the app so we can adjust and change profiles on the mavic 2 air;), in this video the mavic 2 pro has custom profile settings thats why it looks sharper and cleaner than the mavic air 2, we need another mavic 2 pro vs mavic air 2comparaison in 2-3 months
So I just bought a Zoom 2 weeks ago. Being my first drone I wasn’t as informed as to know the new gen Air2 was on the way... until I opened the Fly app. I can still return my Zoom. Would you suggest I do that?
I think I know which drone to get. But in your opinion I will be using it to video off road trucks going through the trails and videoing landscapes of our area that we visit. Between the two the pro only had the follow me mode ? And also pictures of the landscapes and pictures of the truck going through the mud holes or other obstacles. I appreciate the videos.
I've never had one and need one for architectural photography and video and the Air I and under aren't enough and MPro 2 is way expensive for now, so this Air II is really on the spot for now. What you think?

I almost never shoot in low light situations, so I guess the 1/2" sensor will do just fine for my needs, and the FMC includes ND-filters if it's too bright outside :)
excelent video from colombia I have mavic 2 pro do you recomend change for mavic air 2? I am a photographer and I see the camera is better. thanks.
Unbiased: Mavic Pro 2 CLEARLY looks better and wins (I don’t own either drone).
Mavic Pro 2 is also double the price, the Mavic Air 2 may not look as good as the pro but it’s really 80% of the way there for half the price
If you had the original pro . Would you change to the air 2?
The blacks in the rock shadows completely blow away the MA2. It is what it is. Cell phone camera.
Thx for your time.🥃🥃
The mavic pro 3 is going to be nuts !!! hopefully its released at the end of the year
I agree...I just dont know why people are sooo hype about the Mavic air 2..... I believe the Mavic pro 3 will be sooo much better.
Thanks
Just bought a DJI MAVIC AIR 2 with my $1,200 check from the government. A rare experience of joy in these horrific times.
I might've done the same thing lol
@Jack Tapley it's awesome... I'm so happy
Hi, can it shoot quick shots @4K or 2.7K 60FPS?
For me I'd want the Mavic Pro 2 just because of the _sides & upward obstacle sensing_ so that I can ride my OneWheel and fly hands free.
Don't count on those too much: I own a mavic 2 zoom, side and up-faced sensors are not always work flawless as many people think...
The side and upward sensors only work in the ultra-slow flying "Tripod" mode on the M2P. I ride a onewheel too! and I make tracking videos with my Mavic Air. It is not perfect, but in nice, open areas you can make some sweet vids.
The air two, even without the top sensor has their new avoidance system and is a huge improvement over the pro II
Enjoy your videos. Can you please answer a question? Unable to find answer anywhere. Does the USB C port on the drone function to CHARGE? On the original MA, it only was useful for file transfer or firmware updates. Thanks.
Great vid, only one thing there is a difference between Mbps (megabits per second) and MBps (megabytes per second)
Can i ask why have you removed the Front screen on M2P ? Do you get cleaner shots ?
Its powerful for high winds?
“This one ways about a pound more.” Quoted you on that.
hahaha

Hey! Is it possible to shoot 48mp in raw or is it only going to be jpeg?
Rather than spend the dough on the MAir2 I am going to buy the Smart Controller for my M2Pro.
you'll love it ! trust me.
So you can buy the new remote for M2Pro? That's nice, since I really liked the new remote
I heard that smart controller will work with the mavic air 2 later this year😎
Ready get set Jam Indeed I have asked that question On like five different reviews and no one has answered me yet
I had the smart controller but returned it because we still have to sync your Wi-Fi from your phone to it. It’s not a standalone unit which I thought it was so you might as well just use your phone
Hey, great helpfull video, thanks! I have a phantom 4 first generation, is the Air 2 a good upgrade for me? Thank you!
Although I'm tempted, it looks like I'm sticking to my mavic pro 2.
Felt the same way. I’ll probably buy another drone when the Mavic 3 comes out of a new line of mavics
Maybe if all we had was a mini or the old Mavic air then yes but I love my Mavic 2 pro
m2p is much more of the drone.
Kai Wen Yung mavic 2 pro still kick ass 2 years never been beat ... hope mavic 3 pro next king of drone
I have the phantom 3 should I upgrade to the air 2 or the mavic Pro 2
Im so hyped for this drone to be my first! Can't wait to take my filming to the skies, going to be sweet :)
Thats gonna be your first drone?
@@weareallwinchesters7214 mine also...I'm inclined for this one for sure. The Air I doesn't provide such professional photo and video as this one. What do u recommend.
WeAreAll Winchesters Yes it looks like it. I almost bought the Mini which seams awesome for the price but car repairs came in the way so a drone purchase got put on hold. Now I got some money to spend and I think the Air 2 will be worth the extra money. Going to be so nervous flying it the first time since it’s roughly $1200 :O
@@CarlBergsdorf Make sure u purchase dji care refresh
You said if you’re into photography the Mavic air 2 is the clear winner. As an amateur photographer that just does not seem correct to me. How can a half inch sensor with the quad bayer filter on 12 megapixels making it 48 megapixels be better than an actual 20 megapixel sensors. The larger sensor and the larger pixels is just going to make it better not just for low light photos but for All Photos. Add to that the ability to control your aperture and I don’t see where there’s even a comparison as to which would be the best. Please show me where I’m wrong.
By the way, completely unfair comparison!😂
The fact that the air 2 has 90% as good of an image as the M2P, with a couple features that are more advanced even, is amazing for a drone that costs HALF the amount of the other.
Ramon Solorio the image is 90% as good in sunny perfect conditions.
Throw in shadows, sunrise and sunset or night time and it’s more like 60%
@@philvfilms Nah more like 89%
But in low light the mavic 2 pro is a lot better because of the 1" sensor
10bit. I rest my case.
@@elvispresley2542 You can rest all you want, no one will see the difference.
Amazing, comprehensive review on the 2 drones! You've helped me make up my mind. Thank you.

Are you guys shoot part of this video on a panasonic gh5 or s seriers camera on autofocus? Because you're getting some serious focus pulsing on some of these shots.
13:30 i see you getting nervous and smiling when you said "you don't have any news for the next mavic pro" ;))
Clear and concise review. One of the best ive seen on RUclips. Auto subscriber.
I'll stay with my Mavic Air first gen as long as I can hahaha, it's really expensive to upgrade :/
I sold mine yesterday for 600$
Upgrade when the Mavic Air 3 comes
I downgraded from the original p4, to original mavic and now I have the Air 1. There's just a lot of things to love about the air especially as a traveler/outdoors-man. It's so small and fits everywhere. Quality is good enough, this just doesn't check a lot of those boxes.
@@ccsvisual lucky man! Here in Italy I think it will be impossible at that money rn :/
@@CheeseOnEverything true! But to make it perfect... OcuSync, Hyperlapse and the cam rotating 90° like the Mavic Pro in order to take vertical photos (idk, the stitch never satisfied me). For the rest it's a great drone :)
Great review thank you. Good see a normal bloke doing a well presented review. Easy to understand. Thank you. Please keep them coming!!
2:50 we have the mavic PRO in the AIR
Hello, is it possible to provide the DNG or RAW date from both (Air 2 and 2 Pro)? So that we can get an idea of the quality? That would be great!
The 1" sensor shall rule them all
It already does, the DJI P4P.
@@ianquyck9834 keep the P4P!! Best of the best
10:38 megabits if anything
He kept saying megabytes, but ya, it's megabits
Thanks for the comparison. I have one question. Does it make 48 mp photos in pano mode? I am a 360 photographer and love high res.
I can hear those MA2 order's being canceled as he speaks :)
damn
Lol.. I jus bought a ma2,, I'm now about to look up cost difference
Lol my thoughts exactly
MA2 Fly more combo is $988.
Where else on the dji site can you find that amount of tech and bundle for that price?
PalmettoMoon I agree
Brilliant video, answered a few questions I've been asking so for me perfect, good job.
I’m pissed DJI jipped us on 4K 60 in the Mavic 2 pro and put it in the air 2. Absolute bullshit!!!
Just traded my mavic pro platinum for a mavic air 2 was this a good swap?
The air 2 is really cool but lack of manual controls makes me think it wasn't worth it idk can someone help me out with this because I can still trade back for my pro 🙏
Why you dont have Glass on gimbal on mavic 2 pro? 👂🤔
Exposed 💥
It’s not glass. It’s a gimble protector to travel with. You need to take it off when you fly or it will mess up the sensor and photo quality.
Also it’s plastic
i think the adjustable aperture and shutter (manual control) on mavic 2 pro is a deal breaker..?
Just remember the 48MP is jpeg only. When set to RAW it’s 12MP
This is false information. You can get 48mp raw files from this. There are samples online.
All "quick shots" options are down to 1080p from 4k ?
Will your anamorphic lens work with the mavic air 2 or are you working on a new version of it?
Owned the original air and still got the Mavic 2 Pro...was tempted by reading updates on the air 2 release until I saw your video. Really good job on getting into the finer details, knowing its 8-bit vs 10-bit, and that the air still doesn't have an adjustable aperture, which is a deal-breaker for me as I hated having to always swap ND filters on the air to get that sweet spot on shutter speed. Thanks for the review, well done!
Very humble and authentic opinion
Very well made video and the end conclusion.. you got a new follower! Continue the good work 🙏
Did you use HDR for the air 2?
Ordered my Air2 this morning, super stoked! I shoot a ton of wildlife, underwater and landscape photos and this is my first drone. I think my timing was pretty good bc this drone looks kick@ss especially under $1k
great chanell! first time here. keep this great work! enjoyed your comparison ! thanks, cheers!
Hi! Thanks for review. You say you would recommend Air 2 over Mavic Pro (1). I noticed, there is no any gain in terms of photo quality with Air2, moreover Pro produces more clean and detailed image. What can you say?
thanks for the review. Is there a way to unsharp the footage in camera? In my taste its way to digital sharpened
Great job. I love my original Mavic Air, but longer flight is the one thing I would really appreciate. Bummed to learn that the MA2 doesn’t use the GO4 app. I’ll be considering it for sure though. Thanks for info!
Great video, Which camera is used to record the video? And lenses?
Thanks for the vid!
yeah nice find, but as the position of sun changes(not neccesarily later), you can see with the top of the trees actually more light was coming into the frame,
Is the camera better then the mavic pro 1?
Thank you so much then I keep my Mavic 2 pro . Is it possible that DJI does an update to the Mavic 2 pro to 4K 60 ???? Also I need a new PC system for video editing with Da Vinci Software
...my budget is around $2000 ..but I want a really good Video card
please ..What would you suggest me ??? Or should I do Apple which is more expensive for sure....I wait for your reply.
DJI will do an update to the 2 Pro for 4K 60... unfortunately it will be the Mavic 3 for $1499+ lol.
I7-8700k , 1080, 600w powersuply, 8-9 motherboard, 3000mhz 16gb ram, some xtra fans just for the heat if you render alot.
What video editing software do you use for drone footage
What do we think the Mavic 3 Pro will offer?
So I just bought a Zoom 2 weeks ago. Being my first drone I wasn’t as informed as to know the new gen Air2 was on the way... until I opened the Fly app. I can still return my Zoom. Would you suggest I do that?
I think your video answered that question well actually. I’m just in denial still :p
If you can still return the Zoom I would. buy the Air 2 and get a few hundred bucks back.
Should I ditch my Mavic 2 zoom for the mavic air 2?
Are these easy to fly? I have never flown one.
I appreciate the videos.
wonder.. Can I play with mavic any at city camera or can't ?
I’m in real estate and need great video and photos for properties and I’m torn on these 2. Which one should I purchase?!? Anyone have any advice?
they are both amazing, from what I've seen. I'd probably say the Mavic Air 2, as its about half the price for almost just as good.
I've never had one and need one for architectural photography and video and the Air I and under aren't enough and MPro 2 is way expensive for now, so this Air II is really on the spot for now. What you think?
