But what good does looking forward do when going left right or backwards? And... line of sight is the distance you can visually see your drone. Even with the strobes, 3 miles is a real stretch.
Yea, I agree. You have to be really careful flying out of sight. I do it pretty often but I make sure I’m well above the tallest object in the area. I have to hand it to the guy that can see his drone 3 miles away? I’d estimate I can only see mine at about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile but, I’m 62 and my sight certainly isn’t what it was when I was younger. Still I’m not sure the best eyes can see a drone this size 3 miles away. Maybe, and good for you if you can.
Patrick Hofeld I have never met anyone stupid enough to get fined by the FAA for anything drone related. Stay out of no-fly zones, and be careful, and you’ll be fine. Do you honestly think they have FAA employees watching live satellite feeds seeing if a drone operator temporarily lets their drone out of sight? Get real.
@@ThunderfallFilms you miss the whole point. If you are flying for yourself, maybe no risk, but it would not be wise to document in a publicly available video your infringement of drone laws. Good luck defending yourself in court. These guys do it by the book because this video is evidence.

Gotta say, I was not too sure of my decision to sell my Pro Platinum but I actually like this little Air 2 so far and I find the controller easier for the pinch method. But.... I like the Go4 layout MUCH better, looks way cooler, way more adjustability(you can’t adjust the gimble speed for God’s sake in the Fly app) and there was more useful info on the screen. Two major issues I’ve noticed so far is my directional indicator does not function, it always shows the drone behind me, also as seen in this video the onscreen white opaque text gets blown out against the sky and you can’t read it, who let that decision slip by! 😡
Agree. This is why I usually keep a magnify glass in my rear pocket while flying. Maybe DJI just assumes that anyone flying will be under the age of 30.
Seems like he stopped both drones B4 they even reached the limit. The guy on the radio said he didn't have LOS anymore, and he turned around and came back. This was not a range competition, or limit test at all. Just two guys flying out as far he dared. The limit was his fear, not the drones. IMO
I have the same issue with my drone every time I put it up here by my house crows will chase it everywhere... Last night a damn hawk tried to grab it out the sky...dirty bastards are like "hey you ain't one of us"
When you fly far away you have to raise the drone for optimal connection otherwise it's easily interrupted, Oh and I've manged to make around 2.6 KM with my Phantom 3 Advance

Seriously, sending a drone on a range test on 50%, returning and grabing rather than a controlled landing on your hand and then turning onto it's side when the sensors will shut down the motors without the stressful shutdown. Not very good piloting.
Hey Ken! I've been following you for a few years now, even remember when you got in an accident and had your phantom in its heavy duty case and it survived without a scratch! ... back to the point, you've really inspired me along the way, I've had some cheaper drones to learn and mimic your stick movements to make the drone move smoothly. Ive most recently got myself a mavic mini and have been gaining some traction through Facebook and Instagram but from one droner to the other is there any advice I could get from you in terms of starting a drone buisness or even a channel

Hey Ken after the firmware update 01.00.22.00 on the phantom 2 pro v2.0 it became also ocusinc 2.
Awesome range test Ken. I'm loving my Mavic Air 2. Have a great weekend and remember those that died for our Freedoms!
You as well, Rodney!
🇺🇲
Why do people "catch" their drones. You can get it to literally land on your palm.
I don't feel like bending over to pick it up.
I would love to see you guys fly this same route and do a range test of the original Mavic Pro, which I think was the bird that introduced the Occusync system(?) not sure about the facts. But as far as myself, I'm a very conservative shopper and so far, have refused to buy any other Mavic since buying the original... No Mavic 2, No Zoom, No AIR (yet!!) I'm really tempted to buy the Mavic Air2, very impressive drone. Thanks guys!!!
I LOVE my Air 2. I've had it since launch and this drone has been my favorite so far.
Great vid!! Just got my air 2! Excited that it can fly safely and get me some great shots. Thanks guyz!
Congrats!
Very cool comparison. Thanks for the demonstration
That new Mavic Air 2 is a great drone, and I'm not surprised it won the range test. I'd go ahead order one.
Maybe if the antenna for the Mavic air 2 were facing the flight path instead of upwards you might have flown farther..???
very good video , at 15000 feet there was still no glitching , nice drone , Cheers Ken for sharing this video
DJI....PLEASE FIX SUDDEN RETURN TO HOME AND MAKE COMPATIBLE WITH GOGGLES...cool vid ;)
I don’t understand the imperial system
Mavic Air 2. Like a boss!!
What is that you are flying over? A highway that was never finished?
Yes. It's an abandoned interstate project.
@@KenHeron Thats interesting and what a nice pace to fly, so lucky!
@@KenHeron Wow, I never thought that after all the years of planning, funding, acquiring right of ways, and getting that far into it, that a project could just be left unfinished. It does make for a good place to fly.
The Mavic air 2 did not randomly disconnect, it was your phone disconcerting from the controller.
*connecting
Hi Ken.
If you needed a third spotter, you could of asked me here in the UK 😏
P.S
Thanks for letting me know what planet we're on, but my home world is outside this solar system, so I'm yast ganna have to explain this video to my uncle Zinnnn, from Uranus.....!
Wheel-ly Ken....!
Haaaaa!😁
Thanks guys. Marvic air 2 is wow. How do I get the fairly used from you guys?
Phantom is great if you got a car..but if you are a back packer, i choose the foldable man
I was just wondering when you returned with the magic air 2 the last time... the remaining battery percent?
Mavic air2 is good for wedding or prewedding?
Mavic mini would be better for weddings, it is smaller, quieter, and less noticeable.
in the first attempt, the drone disconnected because it was too low above the ground - I think
The Phantom just looks so silly, don't know why but the design never gave me anything I wanted.
Pffff, got my new Air 2 last night and decided to shoot a hyper lapse mid way through on my maiden flight, brought it back and landed at 7% 😳
Now try this with the air 2s vs the Newest Dji Phantom :)
Not sure why your getting only 7000ft ... I got over 10000ft on my mavic 2
the distance almost doubled when he increased the height, so most likely it was from interference from the trees
Last night a damn hawk tried to grab it out the sky...dirty bastards are like "hey you ain't one of us"
Not sure why this video is so enjoyable but I’ve watched it a few times now lol.
Bruh
When you fly far away you have to raise the drone for optimal connection otherwise it's easily interrupted, Oh and I've manged to make around 2.6 KM with my Phantom 3 Advance
Best thing about your Vids is the humour between friends. Love from Yorkshire.
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 guys thanks for this video 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 U jus help me to made up my mind on the mavic air 2.....i sold my phantom 4pro cz it was too big... needed something smaller... n powerful.... mavic air 2 seems lik it can do the job for me
Seriously, sending a drone on a range test on 50%, returning and grabing rather than a controlled landing on your hand and then turning onto it's side when the sensors will shut down the motors without the stressful shutdown. Not very good piloting.
True I’d never go that to my drone
I think imma purchase the mavic air 2
What fun. Two grown up children having very good safe fun flying drones. Thanks
Thanks Matt!

Ken amazing video this shows that our P4p still on top to compete 👍
Heck yeah!
Mamy wspólną pasję.Miło się ogląda. Dzięki za subskrybcje , która wynagrodzi moją pracę . Pozdrawiam Adam
I live in Los Angeles which is a very city like area.
I have the DJI Mini 2, however, I'm afraid to fly it long distances due to the fact I live in the midst of a city with power lines and buildings everywhere, thus I don't want to loose sight and connection with my drone.
Does this drone do well on long distant flights in a busy city like area?
Air 2 is another level
In the city u get alot of wifi interference so u can't fly to far. And you are only allowed to go a few hundred feet with limits . So sucks trying to get the videos u really want. But the mini 2 is great for beginners
Is this like a unfinished highway?? Lol
Yes.
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Muito bacana! Já deixando aquele Super LIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE carimbado!!!!!
forte abraço CLEITON COST DRN
Oi amigo nao entendi muito

Qual é o melhor nesta faixa no mercado?
I just upgraded from the spark, I'm happy to see these results.
Me too. Just got the MA2.
Saving for a compatible phone, then flying!
I thought you were leaving 😄
Gotcha!😁
