Hehe we'll Orks do have that thing where if enough of them believe it starts to become true (like red bombs make bigger boom and yellow things go faster)... So maybe Purple *is* their camo :D
I really like your choice for the grand prize. Not somebody who painted $100,000 in models, not somebody flexing on their skills or massive collection. Instead, you picked a newbie; somebody who's just starting out, just painted their first couple orks and wanted to share. That's the kind of person I feel really deserved that kind of love.

I'm always so impressed by speed painting, probably why I like the channel so much, I can't even comprehend painting that many minis in such a short time. Think my record is one per day.
I know what you mean, a single Skitarii Ranger takes me all day.
My Mechanicus army is about 136 models and took me 18 months to paint!

This guy it's my personal hero: in first place this guy, s name it's guy, next he make very cool soundtracks, then he paint 220 orks in one week, then he has a really really cool girlfriend that likes planes (+10 points for her )........... I envy you a little Guy, when I get older (from my actual 23) I want that XD.
Fun fact: he's also colorblind! And that doesn't stop him from painting some awesome minis!

Hi! I love you're content. I don't have Instagram but I still challenged myself to paaaint my blood angels in 1 week. I painted 78 blood anhels and 2 ball predictors. So much fun yup made my week!

The timing for this was just off for me. I received my first ever army in the form of a start collecting Necron box on Friday and I'm still just assembling them. Your videos are a large part of me getting into the hobby so I'm just happy to be working on them at all. Really incredible seeing so many models done in such a short time so great work Guy.
Retail worker here. The lockdown has actually _increased_ my working hours, so i haven't been able to join in this challenge (despite owning many, many models which need painting). I'm sure i'll have another chance.
However, the progress shown in this video has been amazing. Combined with your other tutorials, it's inspired me to pick up my brush again after years of being too intimidated to make serious progress. Thanks, man. :)

Though I couldn’t complete my challenge of the 3 exalted sorcerers in a week, I was able to complete them today, and I’m very happy with the results! Without this challenge I don’t know if I would have had the confidence to start them, so big thanks to Mid Winter Minis!

I failed the challenge so hard. I assembled my models and took some pictures then realized I was still lacking a few that I needed . . . so I bought more. I now have MORE unpainted models than when I started, and that includes the ones I got around to painting

Such a great video man, your opening and closing music is a banger. I don't even play or paint but I can't stop watching you videos. Wishing you all the best man well deserved.
In regards to the wet palette: it works better when you pool multiple drops of paint into one spot of the palette then allow the paint to naturally spread out from that spot as it reacts with the wet parchment below. With your palette it looks like you used the brown and kept pushing it away from the original point of placement; once the paint has spread that much it will dry regardless of the wet palette. Basically, it sounds counter-intuitive but the palette will keep large pools of paint wet for multiple days.

Don't know where to ask this so ill ask it here. I've just got into warhammer and have got the Dark imperium set and nothing else. Will the change to 9th edition mean I need anything else or am I still set.
Don’t worry your army is still going to be fine to use, the only thing different is that the rules might change and there are new models
But if you play only with those two armies with some freinds/fammily you can stick to 8th as long as you like
The rule book you have from the dark imperium box set is already out of date, one thing you will find with this hobby is that GW are always altering and changing rules around to balance the game. Depending on which army route you want to go down I would just suggest building the models read the books that come with dark imperium and get an idea for the lore, there are lots of updates on the community website and RUclips channels that go through the current state of the 40k universe. Are you looking to go with both the deathguard and space marines or just one of them.

@@connorcmsmith4302 I'd recommend leaving rules out of it until this new app comes out. Until then, work on improving your army(ies) if you want to. But don't go for any rule books until the app comes out, or you'll always end up getting more and more books. As Connor said, lore is great if you're interested in that, but you will need to get a source of rules at some point. The rules for 9th are extremely similar to 8th, so there's no harm in paying attention to the rule source you have...

If your *wet* pallette dries out you have to put more water into the basin and the sponge. The evaporating water form the sponge will make the paint dry out much much slower.
Honestly the fact that you cut down your massive near 600 minature list to less than 1/3 of its og value in a week?!?!?!?! Amazing! The paint job looks so good! I'm so suprised you made all the vehicles look so easy and quick? Nice.

I have wanted to paint a bigger project for a while but havent worked up the courage to commit. This video has convinced me to do it and Im looking forward to it so much now instead of worrying, thank you Guy!
Its funny seeing this stuff now. I havent played 40k in years but I recognize some of these models. Such as the ork captain from assault on black reach back in the 6th edition starter set.

Awesome! This is hands down the best marathon painting video I´ve seen. Many other seems to just paint in their "regular" style for the duration and then add more time if needed to finish, instead of adjusting the methods to hit the deadline.
as a fellow appreciator of painting, ive speed painted 10 models at once many times, although i dont have an airbrush and use split brushes often. this is verrry impressive

This is some legendary speedpainting. I have a similar sized project going with a converted Cities of Sigmar army. In one week I finished....10 Eternal guard.
that is absolutely amazing. i have been painting up the rest of my tyranids and now have my small force of Astra militarum almost fully painted, other than the minis i just bought finished too. so much nicer playing painted over gray/primer. makes the game so much better. love the video!

These look amazing! We sat down with Nick Nanavati over a year ago to paint his LVO army! Our count was 260 Orks in 74 hours! We tried to paint them as quickly and simply as possible.
And I thought I did well last week painting up 30 Drukhari wyches and a Succubus! Awesome and inspirational vid!

Great effort Guy, made me happy to see someone else be honest about not getting on with a wet palette too. I've been painting minis for 20 years and always feel like you are pre judged if you dont use a wet palette, but i just cant get on with them!

dude.... thats amazing. your an absolute mad man! well done. how mentally and psychically exhausting was this though? it had to have been! ive been painting like a mad man as well at least for my standards. ive stopped highlighting and shading my miniatures after 10 years of doing so. im enjoying painting so much more now. its not for everbody but it helps me enjoy the hobbyt ALOT more as have almost two fully painted 1.5k point orks and nid armies. And after years of not having painted armies...its nice to see them done.
Applause to all the bod's out there that got the project in on time. I tried on just five plague marines and didn't get it done. At the end of day seven I still needed a wash and some post wash details, such as the wings of the fly on the champion and the plasma coils on the plasma gun.
I got my Plaguebearers, plague drone and Necrons done during the week which would still be primed if not for this. I'm more thankful for the kick up the backside!

The weather was just to good and i had a few too many projects to get done before the summer heat, but next time you have a contest i will make sure to make time for it.

It is definitely impressive to see such a large amount of minis painted in such a small timescale, but I am not sure whether doing a gigantic batch paint like this is nothing more than punishing yourself.

I'd don't really do James workshop games and more I really only play table top role play games these days BUT seeing you do this made me start on making a lot if mad max like cars for a fury road game I'm planning on running.

A little bit of black paint or some Sharpie can do a solid job on the end of gun barrels.
Purple and Green? A classic Joker paint job. The yellowish spot colour adds some cool pop.

Fellow colorblind 40k fan here. Love the bold scheme! Orks in red vehicles just look muddy and get lost.

Just a tip on the wet pallet, the paper you were using with it is meant for water color paints, use parchment paper.
Also the water level should be right to the top of the sponge. Paints should stay hydrated that way even if you live in a dry climate.

Well I didn’t send my stuff in but you did help me to get off my butt and paint a couple dozen miniatures. After I pulled out the shame of minis and saw that I had some that were 20+ years old and hadn’t been touched.
I saw your challenge. I watched this video for end results. I have to admit I was too lazy and not motivated to try but after seeing what you have accomplished you have inspired me to give it a go. I have about 2500 points of heretic astartes all primed and ready to go. I don't have many hours I. The day to just paint like you did but I'm going to do it!
Wow, congratulations! Didn't see the challenge, but I did spend about 9 hours painting terrain yesterday. I now have enough nice finished terrain for a 6 by 4 table.
