On the one hand the armoured company should be the hard counter...

to be fair, the armor will hold up better against the horde than most things as well, and the flamers can just keep cooking while engaged no problem.
I think one could probably do it with the right selection of Russes
There were also 4 Heavy stubbers and 6 Hunter Killer missiles which are now baked into the base cost of the guard tanks that they ignored.
If they really wanted to make a counter with armour, they could get 3 Leman Russ Punishers and 2 Eradicators along with a tank commander armed with a Punisher gatling.
4 Punisher gatling is 80 shots, with 2 Eradicators firing d3+6 shots. 6 Heavy Stubbers gives an additional 36 shots and for ease of math say each has 3 heavy bolters for an additional 54 shots.
The Plasma Cannon sponsoons has a higher max output with blast, but Blast also has diminishing returns as Orks die off, and the math becomes complicated.

Absolute sin that the Astra Militarum didn't take 120 guardsmen with Castellens and Command squads for the Fix Bayonets charge
We would have given that a go if we had those models - I think the maximum we can run is 7 squads of 10 guardsmen. ❤️🕷️

I've got a couple of hundred guard.
I used to run 90 boys in 8th (3x30) and it was great fun so seeing a tide of green again makes me a very hapoy warboss
Tyranids have a great counter to this, Barbgaunts! You could easily fit in 3 full units, pumping out a minimum of 5 shots per model against a full strength boyz unit. On average, you are looking at 70 St5 shots per even before sustained hits. And you are slowing the Orks down, which is never a bad thing!
Raveners kill 16 boys in melee too. Would be a perfect 1-2 punch: 3 units of barbs, 3 units of pyros, and 3 full units of raveners.
And Shooty Warriors and Melee Warriors, probably Mawloc for the remaining points
@@HiveOne Melee Warriors and Raveners work because of 6-7 attacks each and twin-linked. Shooty Warriors won't do anything against the tide.

They shoot 2d3+8 shoots with 9/-2/2, 2d6+10 shoots with 6/-1/1 and 6 shoots at 5/-1/1; After that, they still have 30 attacks at 5/-1/1… for 130 points they are definetly able to kill a 20-mob in one turn
@HiveOne No... shooting warriors kill 14 between shooting and charging. Then they are stuck in combat. Melee warriors and ravenous also kill 14 models on the charge, but can fight back much better. I'll have to check the rules they are following, but it seems like shooting models aren't charging, which makes the shooty warriors much less effective, only killing like... 6-7 models.

That's exactly 1000pts, and I believe is the most powerful into pure Ork horde with no leader abilities, no detachment rule or army rule, just purely using datasheets.
Beastpacks actually have a huge volume of attacks for their cost, and naturally re-roll 1s to hit.
18 attacks, sustained 1, S3, AP0 from the birds
8 attacks, lethal hits, S5 AP0 from the dogs
5 attacks, dev wounds, S5, AP-1 from the clawed fiend
3 attacks, anti-infantry 3+, AP-1 from the beastmaster... Even a little anti-infantry 3+ shooting too... For 105pts with built in re-rolls...
60 Kabalites with shredder and splinter cannon is outputting 30 shots of sustained 1, anti-infantry 3+, AP-1 from the cannons, 6D6 torrent shots at S6, AP0 from the shredders, and 48 shots of anti-infantry 3+ AP0 from the splinter rifles. Then it's 108 basic melee attacks and 18 at anti-infantry 3+, AP-1 from the sybarites.
Lelith is sustained 2, anti-infantry 2+, AP-2, with 12 attacks. Enough said.
A single Succubus just fills the last points out nicely, with 6 attacks at anti-infantry 3+, AP-2, and a pistol shot, for a bargain price.
I'm not mathing all that out but I think it's likely the best damage output in the game, assuming no army/ detachment rule, for 1000pts, against a green tide with no painboys, etc.

best thing about this, its not even the final form of the greentide, with the warboss, painboyz, and weirboyz in the units plus strats, get your games in ladz before the nerf bat commeth
Painboy gives 5+++ and makes the Boyz even harder to kill, yeah... you're gonna run 3 of them for sure in Green Tide
Plus the unholy meganobz unit of doom. Big Mek in Mega Armour with Raucous Warcaller makes the unit INSANE.
The Ork Invulnerable Save will end up being rolled back to a 6++
Played against 49 terminators last night. That stopped the boyz.

Such a showcase on a great ork army. All the head and weapon swaps and extra gubbins to make a huge mob of boys look properly apocalyptic and characterful. Really love this army. The icing on the orky cake is getting a bright green to work on green models. Fantastic!
I am a bit disappointed ! This was THE opportunity to take 3 Leman Russ Punishers with triple Heavy Flamer !!!

Here's my take against this style of a fun experiment. Mirroring Beard a little but:
CSM.
1 Sorceror- just need a warlord really for the sake of it being a legit list.
3 units of 5 havocs, all nurgle with reaper chain cannons.
3 units of predator destructors, all nurgle with the bolters.
1 helbrute, slaanesh with dual fists and heavy flamers.
Bunch them altogether as close as you can with the helbrute in the centre and watch as the sustained and lethal death star proceeds to mince ork into green mist. I'd love to see it in action hahaha.

I want to see Green on Green violence, ALL DA BOYZ vs The Teddy Bears with Flamers, Orks vs Salamanders!
For 985 pts, you can field 18 Kataphron Breachers with torsion cannons and arc claws, 10 Skitarii Vanguard with radium carbines, and a Skitarii Marshall in Rad-Zone Corps.
Assuming all 3 units of Kataphrons stay within 6" of the Skitarii, everything remains stationary, the protector is active, everything gets into melee range, and the Marshall uses their free stratagem ability to give the vanguard lethal hits in shooting, you can kill an average of 85 Ork boys in 1 turn.
TLDR: A Min-Maxed Admech Anti-Boy list can kill 85 Ork boys in 1 turn.
30 hearthguard and a few judgement tokens will kill 105 boyz on average. and that's for 960 points
Marshall doesn't get a free stratagem, just another use.
Painting the armour green too looks amazing, but that must have tested your patience to the limit. Nice job

Surely the hard counter to this is Sisters? What other faction can put out cheap but still relatively tough units en mass with S5/6+ flamers and reliable volume in melee, re-rolling wounds on basically everything.
6 x mortifiers with flamers and flails
6 x penitent engines with flamers and flails
3 x warsuits with blades/bolters/flamers
Vahl giving out rerolls for everything to the suits and having 13 attacks on CC with her once a game ability
It would be thematical if sisters are the Xenos killers... they might need a miracle though ;)

When the Orks were updated to 30 Boyz per squad, I wanted to see 180 Ork Boyz on the table... that's when I knew I wanted to play an Imperial Guard army to counter that.

Funny enough, statistically 6 units of Skitarii Vanguard with 3 Martials getting out of transports is upward of 100 dead orks
Is that even counting the transports themselves shooting?
I'd just point out that they played 1000pts and 6x Vanguard, 3x Marshalls, and 6x transports is 1095pts, but that's still insane

Ran a theoretical of this with a friend over the weekend two solutions they get the 120 combat innefective is, for admech and gsc in turn,
60 vanguard, 40 rangers, 1 marshal w/ sustained fire upgrade, and 10 flying boys with flecget rifles, powered by lethal hits along with the marshal in a vanguard unit. Vanguard veung all rad and rangers having the fixings.
Gsc is 3 10 man demo acolyes w/ hflames and an icon, 3 primuses, and 3 reducto sabos. I call it, the michael bae experience. ;D
I did the same with a buddy but I used Dread Mob. 2 bigmeks with shokk attack guns w/ git finder goggles on one and press it fasta on the other.
Both leading a 3xMek Gunz/bubblechukkas
2 Meks babysitting 2 Gorkanauts
After 2 turns he had 40ish boyz left in 3 units. 1 gorkanaut was at 3 wounds the other was at 12.

Loved that ending haha. I feel like the sisters of battle are a great counter to the green tide. Castigators, Mortifiers/Penitent Engines and Arco Flagellants all tear boyz apart.

I feel like this is the origin story of the All Guardsmen Party
My entry would start with 60 Tau Breachers, 3 of them led by a Cadre Fireblade, guided to allow them to reroll 1's to hit, getting reroll wounds either from Stealth Suits guiding or the orks counting as being within range of an objective, in Kayoun turn 3 for Sustained Hits 2, equipped with gund drones and support turrets. Fill in with some battlesuits or something for a little extra firepower and screening as whatever rules you were using allow.
If I added up right that was only just 1020pts. THAT IS INSANE!!!!!

1020pt in votann: just put 30 heartguard with volkanite/blade gantlet and 1 champion. Put 2 judgment token on 4 squad and watch the havoc 😂😂 you kill the 80 orks only with shooting. Stat: 225 shot with GL, 90 shots of volkanite, 90 attack in the fight phase.

I feel like sisters got this. 3x 10 seraphim with 8 handflamers per unit is only 420 points and 24d6 of auto hits. Add an exorcist and more flamers and simply overwhelm with sheer weight of dice.

30 Hearthguard + whatever else you fancy would make a mess. Each unit having 40 shots from the grenades blast before you even roll the number of shots would do a number on them
