Thank you so much for this tutorial! The instructions that came with my machine were so confusing and this helped me understand it. Don't worry about the haters saying your metaphors are childish. I find that helps me remember AND sewing is for all ages! Keep it up, and again thank you. I will definitely be checking out your other videos as I am beginner, this was a frustration saver. 😊

"childish" is good. A good mnemonic is KISS, which stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. For me, it can't be simple enough, because I just find sewing machines very complicated. This video is excellent.

Tina! You just saved me another handful of hair loss! After returning my first choice machine (that I'd picked out for my Christmas present that my family could all chip in on) because I didn't realize just because I can thread a needle in my hand does not mean that I can thread the machine. Turns out that my vision is much worse with age! I had no idea that auto Needle threaders even existed and can be fitted to many machines. $51 return shipping lesson learned. So I spent a little more money and bought a little nicer Janome model. I've struggled with the needle threader but after several videos I've finally got it. They make it look so easy in the store! Then to have trouble catching the bobbin for several days, this sewing newbie just about threw the entire machine across the room-- and then I did a search on a different model and found YOU!!! You've given me renewed hope that this time I might actually sew something-- anything -even a rag on a stick would be preferable to purchasing a wig! I simply cannot say THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!

I have been an experienced seamstress for many years and bought a new machine 3 years ago and couldn't understand from the video that they put me in the machine's tutorials and not from any other video.
You explain and take pictures so close and slowly that you can understand everything and also see clearly where the wire should go.
I have no words to thank you!
      You saved me.

This a very useful video. I have a Brother machine, but the bobbin and cage look a very similar design. I have never understood how "catching the bobbin thread" actually works, but with your step-by-step instructions it all becomes amazingly clear. I bought my Brother machine new several years ago just for shortening men's trousers, as I was sick of Wonderweb. I don't buy new trousers very often, so each time I have to "reinvent the wheel" to understand how to use the sewing machine. It usually takes me longer to get the bobbin and needle threaded than to sew the actual hem! But after watching your video, I'm going to get out the sewing machine and practise on some scrap material.

Thank you so much for showing WHY the top thread catches the bobbin thread! I knew the basics of how to do it, and there are various videos showing this, but what I really wanted to know was HOW the mechanism moves to pick up the thread. If it all seems to happen as if by magic, it is so difficult to sort out the problems that arise. Which for me, they invariably do. 🙂Your video, with its two brightly coloured threads demonstrated very clearly exactly what I wanted to know! Now, at last, I understand how it all works. . Many, many thanks.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! It seems that there are no other tutorials on how to actually catch the bobbin thread! My machine is quite different from yours but because of your detailed description, I was able to understand mine! Success!!🙌

Thank you for making this video! I've been trying to figure out which way my bobbin thread goes and my mom and bfs mom have tried for years to get me to use a sewing machine .... I thought I was a lost cause! I had everything else figured out and have couldn't thread it myself:( I thought I was destined to hand sew forever!!! Thank you for letting your knowledge help this girl FINALLY (after 27 years of life and threading failure) use the machine that brings my creative side shine💕💕💕💜💜🌻

Thank you so much! I found a semi NH machine in my linen closet the other day and was up for hours last night trying to get it to work before I found out that you had to thread the bobbin! All the other videos had different machines, but this is super similar to mine (mine doesn't have the up down needle button) super excited to start sewing!

I've watched several videos to figure out how to load the bobbin and catch the thread, and all of them went too fast or skipped over important parts. Thanks for going slow and explaining all the details!

I needed a refresher on how to do this- this is exactly how my grandma explained it to me back when I was 12; It all came right back to me!

Wow, that was an extremely helpful video! I needed a refresher course
since my last use of the machine. This video was the cure for my
    faded sewing machine memory. THANKS!!!
