- In this video, I make the conversion from the stock headlight unit to LED on my 07 BMW R1200GS K25.
Also, the turn signals are replaced with LED units.
Comment below what you think about this conversion, especially about some solutions for the fast-blinking turn signals.

Thank you. Your video gave me the little confidence I needed to this job myself and save not only money but time. My LED replacement was also from e-bay but did not come with the protective plate or all the rubber grommets needed for installation. Had to remove the old ones, tore one but it remained serviceable. A process but well worth it and your video was instrumental in my decision to do it myself in about a half hour of work. Thanks! BTW, my bike is a 2009 R1200GSA.
Hi once I fitted mine I need to adjust i as the beem is too low, how do I do this or are they fixed.
I returned from the BMWRA Rally 4 am, until Dawn, on interstate 40. That LED WORKED GREAT! I’ve always been anxious about Road debris, but all the light remedied that!!

Thank you very much for your brilliant video and for sharing your experiences with the LED conversion. I recently bought a similar headlight, and I have the same issue with the instability due to the bottom fixing point. I am very impressed with your engineering skills and ability to "just" create the part, you needed.
I tried designing something similar with a Stanley knife and some rubber - not as successful as yours ;-) Therefore I have send you an email kindly requesting the 3D print file. I hope you're still able to share it. Thanks again!

Hello, i guess I owed you an explination regarding turnsignals error, fast blinking. Prior to owning the R1200GS I've owned an 2008 F800GS and bought for that bike led turnsignals but dind't installed them. So I swapped the old ones with the fast blinking from the R, put the F800 ones in and problem solved :). No dash error and no fast blinking.
So in your case you just used a different model? They were original?
@@GFI just user the F800GS ones which also i've bought from china. Strait plug&play wihout any errors.

Thank you so much for the patient instruction on completing this task, for I bought the same headlight for my 2006 GSA! I haven't completed it, just studying. I see that my wires are black white and yellow and the parking light * I suppose* is red. Don't see where it attaches. But, removal of the instrument cluster, etc., are what I needed to see!! Thanks so much.

@@GFI Wow, I have a new LED headlight, thanks to your efforts to educate me! Mine fit like a glove. Only thing I did differently, is I took a small piece of bicycle inner tube, cut a round hole for the "peg" on which the headlight sits, making a shim. The light is rock solid. Seems to be ok on the adjustment. Keeping my fingers crossed! Only problem I had, was unplugging the main light cord, but I didn't know how with that little silver looking clip. Once again, I thank you for educating me on the installation!!
@@1KemosabeLarry Hi! Is your LED headlight unit the one with the extra ' hole ' below? Or is it the one with only 2 supports at the side? Mine does not have the support at the bottom and it moves up as it vibrates in the road
@@dmejiaa Mine has two knobs, one on each side of the light, just like the video/ And, a hole on the bottom in which to mount the knob/spike on the bike. Just like the video. In order to prevent shaking, I cut a little innertube from a bicycle, and cut a small hole, shoved it down on that protruding spike on the bike, which slips into the bottom of the light. So far, my install has been perfect. BUT, I do have a 'lamf' on the dash permanently. I am accustomed to that now. Here's wishing you good luck! Follow the videos, as he did a great job!
@@1KemosabeLarry Thank you for the tip about the rubber tube. My headlight does not have the hole in the button but you gave me a good idea with the rubber piece! - About your LAMPF error, you should not get it. In case you want to try, I read that sometimes the little connector (the one that should go to the cable where the small bulb used to be) gives problems.. unplug it and turn the connector around.. so that the small wire makes connection to the other side - might be worth to try - Saludos!

I'm really surprised that a $150 lighting kit off Aliexpress doesn't make the BMW computer throw up error codes. Since it doesn't, this seems like a fun upgrade. BTW, I find installing and removing big rubber grommets easier if you squirt them with some silicone lubricant first.
If you don't have access to a 3d printer you could probably fill the space with JBWeld.
With the 3D printed part you have a little of adjustability with 2 fixed positions. It's true that no codes came from this unit. It's really nice.

What about headlamp conversions for K1300R 2014? Seen K1300R replacements but also R1300GS[?] conversion for K1300R, too. Any experience with that?

Hey there! as far as I know you can program the bmw unit so it will work with led blinkers, no need to add resistors 😉
I can only connect to the bike ECU by the app Motoscan and I cannot find that option

I am looking to make the up grade with this new led head light but at the same time I was kind of scare to end up with a mess. Your video instade show clearly the work to be done and how to be done. Hi Terry. The difference is huge. I have also a video with a night test. It’s not perfect but IMO it have an excellent value for the money.

They are fixed. You can only adjust a bit in the bottom fix point. The piece I’be designed allow you to mount it in two positions.

Hi. I am glad the video was useful. The blinking rate is not fixed yet but I have already a set of resistors to install. I will post a video soon with that.
I have fixt the fast blinking! Just put a 12v relais Between the cabels of all the blinkers. It was a lot of soldering but it Works!!!!!

Hi. The crash bars are from HEED. I have the error but due to the led turn signals. I will solve that soon and then after clear the error I can properly test. But for now I clean the error and it won't came back until I push the turn signal.

what crash bars are they? they are amazing, btw I fixed that bottom issue of the headlight moving by cable tying that rubber Gromit from both sides so it stays put, worked perfectly
The crash bars are from Heed. If you managed to fix the headlight it's solved 😀

Hi. The headlight do not need any cable extra. As I stated in the video the only extra stuff I used was the 3D printed spacer I designed to help fix the unit in the lower bushing.

Hi Andrei. They are not installed yet 😅 so I cannot be sure if they work fine or not. I just searched eBay for resistors suitable for Gs LED turn signals. I will address that soon and release video. If you want to wait a bit, I will share my experience with that.
@@GFI should not be that hard to do the job, but i was just asking for some support :). I'll do the job later this week end and let you know. Just as info, the GS uses 10W signal bulbs so you need a minium 10W rezistor (20w and 15ohm to be on the safe side)

Seems like a major design flaw that the LED headlight housing doesn't have any provision to aim the beam. There's no point in having a brighter light if it's not shining in the right place.
It's true that you do not have an easy way to fine tune it. You can get at least in two positions with the spacer I've 3D printed for the bottom mounting point.
Anyhow if you pay attention to the light signature at the door, the LED is at the exact same place than the original, so in my case it should be fine. I will make a video at night to get some more info.

Yes, it's a shame that this ability is lost with the new unit. Our bike/car inspection in Japan tests beam alignment in x and y axis, so this is important. Also a shame we lose the quick-adjuster switch to offset weight in the back. Nice job on the install and video, GoForIt

nao tiveste alertas no ecran a respeito dos LED ? queria fazer algo semelhante, mas a idea de ter o alarma me tem colocado de pe atras. ..... i piscar rapido se resolve com a resistencia, a minha preocupacao sera mesmo o triangulo no ecran

@@GFI as resistencias funcionam .. testei ja .. apenas dao muito mais trabalho e adjcionam complexidade a algo simples como desligar o velho e instalar o novo sem cortes
quando fazeres as contas ao custo das lampadas .. mais as resistencias e ao tempo que levas a modificar o conjunto fica dificil justificar
