I learned the front uchimata was a counter to the Georgian grip the hard way. Thankfully my partner was highly experienced so I was gently hit with the planet instead of with full force.
It can be a difficult counter because you really need to anticipate the georgian grip as tori to get the first step in. But when you do the lift is effortless.
I salute you for showing people how to do this. Many people have no clue on how to defend themself or they only know how to punch. I may not agree with some of your techniques but the fact that you are showing people how to defend themself in serious situation is truly award winning thank you .
Thanks for the kind words. But we are not a self-defence channel, our videos are focused on sport Judo and the techniques we cover are often quite specific to a sport grappling environment - meaning the use of the judogi, how an opponent might react, and what we are allowed to do as defined by the rules of Judo. Our videos are designed to supplement a judokas existing training under a qualified instructor.
with a few martial arts channels this may be so, but this channel is specifically intended for judokas that want to be better skilled in the competitive sport of judo, not relative to self defense at all. however, there are "no-gi" versions of judo techniques that are more than capable of being an effective self-defense
Its all situational and despite becoming known as front uchi-mata, they aren't really similar and have more in common with utsuri-goshi. Its not a better throw, just different. We explain in the video the various grips / situations needed and you can see that they are quite different from a classic uchi-mata.
What’s the best way to front reap without striking uke’s groin? In other words, where are you looking to aim the focal point of your lift of your rising leg I guess is what I’m specifically asking?
The rising leg doesn't do the lifting, the lift comes from the hips, the leg forms the platform which you use to pivot them over. Sometimes it's inner thigh, sometimes its right in the middle, but you shouldn't be striking them in the groin.
This is so cool. I've never seen a frontside uchi mata. I'll be honest, I would really worry for my groin with that dynamic knee coming straight up between my legs in the last variant.
Yes, it's also know as that. As it's not a kodokan recognised technique, there isn't an official name for the variation, and many people refer to it as a Front Uchi-mata, so we went with that name.
Outstanding as always, my friends! One of the best intructional judo channels of RUclips. Keep up the great work! Cheers from Brazil.
Thank you!
second variation is amaizing! thank you

Awesome technique! I have seen use it in sumo.
Yes. The sumo stance, grips and movement lend themselves to a technique like this.
Opponent apply the sweep technique this technique is fail

What are the advantages to doing this throw over a regular Uchi-Mata, and when would you just use a regular Uchi-Mata over this one?

So could you do Utsuri instead of the Front Uchimata to counter? @@EfficientJudo
@@EthanNoble you could potentially, Front Uchi-mata occurs when you're both more front on to each other.

@@EfficientJudo I see. Great explanation. Thank you.
Denis Vieru does it. I first time saw it from him just a week ago

Not Russian arm!
Georgian grip 👌🇬🇪
1:20 it's Georgian grip,not Russian.
You're right!

The groin thing could happen - but the lift is more with the hips - you could argue that direct front uchi mata is more an Utsuri-goshi
This is Yagura Nage

@@EfficientJudo it's because it's a Japanese sumo technique 😉
