I feel like this should be the basic form that is taught. It's easier to understand than the Hane Goshi-esque version, more practical, and closer to the Nage no Kata version. We don't have a lot of good tachiwaza instruction at our BJJ club so this video was very helpful
Your presentation style, along with the solutions to mechanical issues, makes this video one of the best uchi mata videos i've seen. Thank you so much for posting this!
Amazing stuff! Thank you so much! The art of Uchi Mata is not understood in the UK as none of the teacher no the fine details or the various! Thank you again, as this is helping my children develop their uchi Mata and they are already throwing with uchi Mata more during randoori.
I loved the video, I have always get confused with classic uchimata and you solved the problems many teachers can´t. Repetition is key but some solutions don´t come just for doing thousands of uchikomi. Arigato !
Excellent 👍 I laughed at the end of the video! So much great technical content, and in the end frames you notice monstrous calf muscle to power the technique!
About the traditional way of doing uchikomi. I try to put supporting foot close to ukes left foot, like you and inoue, during uchikomi. Often my uke will try to correct my foot placement and tsurite to better match the traditional way. Do you still do uchikomi in a traditional way or do you tweak your uchikomi to better match what you would do in randori? I train in Fukui atm😊🥋🇯🇵
Thanks for uploading these . This Uchi Mata series has really helped me get to grips with this throw as I have never been able to really get it . Even managed a couple in randori.
Sorry I have another question 😅. When the tsurite is elbow-up, do you pull to make sure you maintain upper body contact? I tried some uchi komi with this method of focusing on Uchi Mata as an ashi-waza but I fail to get good lift like you do in these examples. Sometimes my uke will be hopping on one foot and I have to switch to a ken-ken style Uchi Mata. I've tried making a point to step deep with my support leg and have it be between uke's legs while my swinging leg targets the near side upper thigh by the hip of uke.
This video has been absolutely amazing in helping me with uchi mata for randori! In regards to uchi-komi drills on elastic bands would you change to have the high elbow or still drill with kate-no-kata version?

Is this style of Uchi Mata more suited for taller Tori's?
Thanks Matt Ng✋
You don't have to do this
Please try various things
