I always read it more as him proving to the public that Avalanche are evil terrorists by committing an atrocity and blaming it on them. And of course a message to other would be opposition, that he wont hesitate to use drastic measures.

Before FFVII the series, like most RPGs before it, was a niche market, but FFVII's world release put the genre in the mainstream and as you say it's less steampunk than games before and after it (XIII would be more cyberpunk I believe, others range in steampunk and sci-fi, and anime). And of course *more* people looked into RPGs when, just a year later, OoT and Pokemon released worldwide (the latter was out by 96).

I could see something like that happening. Maybe not something so specific, but you can always have them be NPCs. FFVII R does a LOT with NPCs already, so it's not like there's no room.
How about also in the play scene? Maybe there’s be a play recreation of the part 1 through Shinra’s perspective, like that play in Last Airbender. And then TFS would voice the caricatures of the main group in the play.

Something I noticed after rewatching for the Nth time. Reeve works in Urban Development. The receptionist at the front desk 'mistakes' them for members from Urban Development. Reeve helped Avalanche get in the Shinra tower.

the game still had some problems, like the damage sponge enemies and bosses. Overall its not perfect in any way like the reviews say it is but I still think that its a pretty good game. And the soundtrack is amazing. I'm just scared about the future of this remake if Nomura is going full kingdom hearts already
@Revrsal Yes the game is great. *The characters are more distinct, both mechanically and in personality. *They nailed Barret as a softy pretending to be a hardass *They nailed Cloud as a dork pretending to be a badass. *They fleshed out the doomed avalanche members very well. *Turning stronger mobs like Eligor and Hell House into bosses was awesome. *There was more to explore. *The world felt lived in. And that's exactly why I'm so mad. It was so close to what I always wanted. It made me so happy to see midgar like this... But then it went full kingdom hearts out of nowhere and I don't think I'll be buying the sequel. I am going to replay the original again soon and hopefully forget this nasty ending and just remember the good parts of the remake.

I feel like they missed out on a possible joke when Aerith is like "Lets go find you a house." because literally in the area you walk through to get to the playground they end up at has a monster that is a house that turns into an abomination of a house when his health is lowered.
Yeah, but then there'd be no subtle, quiet scene for character development. We've seen him run and scream from scary stuff already; he needs a moment to let it sink in just how far he's hit rock bottom.
I honestly love Reeve in this. He's literally the only one out of the Shinra execs with common sense and a good sense of morality. Also, he's good comedic relief.

Tifa being stand-offish and condescending the entire time and Cloud not being interested in her at all whatsoever makes that scene hilarious because it briefly forces them to confront certain questions and bring out honesty. That being, Cloud is truly not interested in her whatsoever (he’s in love with Aerith, just like in the game) and is genuinely put off by the idea of Tifa, and Tifa has a problem with accepting that which is emphasized by her insistence on “discussing the elephant” (her interest in Cloud sexually (and possibly romantically). He doesn’t care at all whereas she makes it a point to not care outwardly when in fact she is certainly preoccupied with Cloud internally). It’s consistent with the actual plot but in a totally different way than it was written. The dialogue and humor in this is actually very clever.
The voice cast to this abridged series is impressive. Justin Briner, voice of Cloud, is also the Eng. Dub voice actor of Deku from MHA. The fact that TFS could get such talent is beyond amazing.

I could see something like that happening. Maybe not something so specific, but you can always have them be NPCs. FFVII R does a LOT with NPCs already, so it's not like there's no room.
It would be equally hilarious if the voice cast of FF7R did a voice over of some of these scenes.
How about also in the play scene? Maybe there’s be a play recreation of the part 1 through Shinra’s perspective, like that play in Last Airbender. And then TFS would voice the caricatures of the main group in the play.

the game still had some problems, like the damage sponge enemies and bosses. Overall its not perfect in any way like the reviews say it is but I still think that its a pretty good game. And the soundtrack is amazing. I'm just scared about the future of this remake if Nomura is going full kingdom hearts already

*There was more to explore.
*The world felt lived in.
And that's exactly why I'm so mad. It was so close to what I always wanted. It made me so happy to see midgar like this... But then it went full kingdom hearts out of nowhere and I don't think I'll be buying the sequel. I am going to replay the original again soon and hopefully forget this nasty ending and just remember the good parts of the remake.

I feel like they missed out on a possible joke when Aerith is like "Lets go find you a house." because literally in the area you walk through to get to the playground they end up at has a monster that is a house that turns into an abomination of a house when his health is lowered.

Tifa being stand-offish and condescending the entire time and Cloud not being interested in her at all whatsoever makes that scene hilarious because it briefly forces them to confront certain questions and bring out honesty. That being, Cloud is truly not interested in her whatsoever (he’s in love with Aerith, just like in the game) and is genuinely put off by the idea of Tifa, and Tifa has a problem with accepting that which is emphasized by her insistence on “discussing the elephant” (her interest in Cloud sexually (and possibly romantically). He doesn’t care at all whereas she makes it a point to not care outwardly when in fact she is certainly preoccupied with Cloud internally). It’s consistent with the actual plot but in a totally different way than it was written. The dialogue and humor in this is actually very clever.
The voice cast to this abridged series is impressive.
Justin Briner, voice of Cloud, is also the Eng. Dub voice actor of Deku from MHA.
The fact that TFS could get such talent is beyond amazing.
MHA came out in the West in 2016 this was first recorded in 2015 I’m pretty sure TFS had him first.
