@@Valerion203 it is explained where the bulk of the vampire come from by the end of the series - Millennium had somehow gotten hold of the body of Dracula's wife who herself was a vampire and used it to sort of reverse engineer the much weaker watered down versions of we see in the show, you can see her skeleton in a glass case in Herr Doktors lab, these false vampires lack a lot of the powers true vampires have but some take to the process better then others like Rip Van Winkle and the Dandy Man developing a sliver of that power, the false ones also cannot sire new vampires as all they bite turn into ghouls regardless of if they are virgins or not.
@@silentassason no. It is even heavily implied the Major could've become a vampire by similar supernatural means to how Alucard became a vampire. Without the need for a "Master" vampire or the Doctor's methods. Imagine that. The Major a similar vampire to Alucard! But no. The Major despised the nature of vampires, so when the chance came to become a vampire by these means he firmly rejected it, even though it would've meant his death, since it happened during the Soviet invasion of Germany and the Soviets had found him and shot him. Luckily for him, the Doctor managed to find him in time, and so since the Major rejected being a vampire, the only way for the Doctor to save the Major's life was to use SUPER WUNDERWAFFE TECHNOLOGY to make the Major a cyborg.
If it was never explained, Helling Ultimate is an OVA of the original manga with only some things taken out. The episodes were around 40min long, so each one was the length of about 2 typical anime episodes.
The references in early hellsing abridged always make me kind of dazzled by the change in 10-15 years. Bewildered, but also kind of glad. There's a piece of the good of that time, and also a reflection of how much has improved or at least developed.
31:50 for those who don't know "tautology" is using two words in succession that mean the same thing. It's typically seen as a grammatical mistake, hence why when Alucard called Anderson a "Catholic Sociopath" he then said "Whoops, tautology!"
It doesn't have to be two words in succession, it's any phrase or statement that can only be true from a logical standpoint. So it can be two words in succession like "round circle" or it can be a whole phrase or statement like "if you know, you know," "it is what it is," or "it'll happen if it happens." "The sky is blue" isn't a tautology because the sky can be colors other than blue(night, sunrise/sunset, a planet with a different atmospheric composition), but "the sky is the color of sky" _is_ a tautology because every possible color the sky could be is a "color of sky".
I just love how using that makes a creative double insult Edit: basically I understood it as calling Anderson a catholic sociopath is the same as calling him a monstrous heathen
If you are looking to react to some other Abridged series in the near future, I highly suggest SAO Abridged, by Something Witty Entertainmment. It's hilarious, sad, amazing, and HILARIOUS
1:36:46 Teamfourstar have gone on record saying that THIS is by far, the most heinous joke they made. I believe their exact words were "This joke cemented our spots in hell."
There's hardly any difference between Takahata's Alucard and Crispin Freeman's Alucard, they're sassy, mad, and loves to go on eccentric moonlit walks. Sure their vocabulary might be different, but I don't believe there's another way to make a Hellsing abridged if you don't do it more over the top, and since it is over the top to begin with, it's a very difficult task to begin with. And it's not as if the original hasn't got it's fair share of ridiculous BS like up up down down left right left right bringing the mfing death by Konami...
IIRC originally, he just said Millennium not Nazis. And while brainstorming who that was one of the links that came up was the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars.
@@MetalSkull-po3kj nah he's right. Like, as good as a generic Michael Bay film are (not that there's anything wrong with liking brain-dead films, some can even be really good). It's narratively not that good and most of the enjoyment comes from watching '⚡cool⚡' things happen, like explosions, sexy bitches with cannons and the such. The main villains are quite literally nazi vampires, you can't get edgier than that. It has really good scenography, but in terms of story it's nothing incredible, it's clearly gets much less focus which is fine. Also, imo the pacing REALLY drags out. It's around 10hours of footage with a 5 hour story at most. The abridged is easily a much best and more enjoyable product.
forgive me, it's been a couple of years... but if I'm remembering takahata101 talking about it correctly, the one piece references were because fans thought TFS was going to be covering one piece, to the point where when they played episode 1 of hellsing ultimate abridged at youmacon, they premiered it without even mentioning what the anime was... so when the opening came on as one piece, the one piece fans went ballistic because they thought that's what they were getting... and then it transitioned to hellsing...
the SAO abridged series you guys were talking about was actually created by one of the guest voice actors in the last episode and that series is so funny and so good
For me, the best part of people seeing the beginning of hellsing abridged is watching the people who aren't used to watching anime that has tons of blood and gore in it. It's always the same two reactions O.O or O.o with the mouth hanging open.
This reaction makes me super happy. My wife and I first bonded off of quotes from HUA (our wedding dance was to a "Party Party Party"/"Ready to Die" Mashup).
One thing about sending the death threats by carrier pidgeon that makes the whole thing even more hilarious is that the way they work is that they return to their roost. So you send them somewhere, and they return to you. Which means that Alucard is actually keeping carrier pidgeons INSIDE of the Vatican.
The last 2 episodes of Hellsing Ultimate was indeed rushed so to speak. The animation quality did not suffer, but for production reasons they needed to wrap it up and so much of the story was left out and much was jammed into the last episodes to quickly reach the end.
If you're anything like me, you're going to watch these again at some point, in which case I should point out that the copies TFS uploaded to their Twitch have their proper music included
Considering we the English and the French had a hundred years war, and have been basically at each others throats for around a thousand years, yes there is some animosity. An important part to remember about Walter and Alucard's history is that when they originally worked together, it was during WW2, Walter was practically a child, and Alucard was a girl. That's why Alucard spends so much time taunting him with sexual talk during their fight.
Yes watch actual Hellsing Ultimate! It’s awesome. Then you guys should check out SAOA abridged. I love SAO, but the abridged is better than the series.
The thing about the zombies in the series is that normally a vampire (like Alucard) can turn others into a new vampire. Unfortunately for the villains, all of the evil vampires in the show are artificially created so when they drain someone they just get turned into a ghoul (aka a zombie)
Jesse Nowack absolutely killed it as Seras Victoria. I remember him talking about recording for the "What do I do?!" line, and it was apparently so convincing that his cat wandered into the recording space to check in on him.
12:05 this is a joke that you kinda had to live through this period to understand. That little cutaway scene is a shot from high-school of the dead, A really raunchy zombie anime. Basically the joke is Alucard caused a zombie apocalypse in Japan because he let one get away.
I watched the Abridged Hellsing and then went back to the original. Not saying that the original is bad by any means but doing it in this order really makes you miss the humor. Team Four Star made it fit so well it almost feels like a better version sometimes.
Sao is someone else but the voice actor of abridged kirito is one of the 3 Christian people walking down the hall in the 30 year timeskip at the end He's the nervous inexperienced one
The music during the ending was the people from TFS covering "Shine" by Mr. Big. Which was the ending of the original Hellsing anime. The original Hellsing OPs and EDs are absolute classics, the opening song plays at a few points during the series too.
Do you know I have seen this series so many times and it only now occurs to me that that last scene is actually an inversion of their first meeting… Integra asks if he wants some sip, and Alucard says “hold your arm steady” I can’t believe it took me that long to notice that
So Hellsing Ultimate, being an OVA, is one hour per episode. So there's 10 hours of story altogether which TFS condensed down into ten 20 minute episodes. As was pointed out, Ultimate follows the manga. The original 13 episode television series was made before the manga was finished and so it follows it up to a point and then veers off in its own direction kind of like Fullmetal Alchemist did. It is widely agreed upon that Ultimate is just overall better(just like FMA Brotherhood), but some people prefer the more jazzy soundtrack of the TV series compared to the more orchestral classical score that Ultimate has. Also, a fun fact, the author of Hellsing, Kouta Hirano, started off as a doujin writer/artist and most of the characters in Hellsing were in that original adult work effectively making it a prototype of Hellsing. There's also a prequel series called Hellsing: The Dawn set during WWII. It got three OVA episodes that were bundled with the blu-ray releases of the last three Ultimate OVA's.
Fun fact: they changed nothing about Jan Valentine's personality from the anime. They just overdramatized his vulgarness, and they rewrote his dialog a bit. Everything else, that was basically Jan from Hellsing Ultimate.
Can I just give a fucking shoutout to Jesse Nowack? His (he transitioned in 2018) performance as Seras was absolutely phenomenal, ESPECIALLY during episode 7. The screams of agony and pain... absolutely incredible. AND THEN THAT GUTTURAL "I SAID SAY MY FUCKING NAME! SAY IT! SAAAAY IIIITTT!"
While the majority of the actual series is much more serious, there are occasional intercut moments of pure silliness. It's far better than the abridged version.
Studio Madhouse did the animation, unfortunately they died thanks to Redline, a brilliant racing movie that's like Wacky Races on crack. In fact, you should check it out.
Fun fact, the song that plays during The Major's War Speech is from The Planets, by Gustav Holst. The song is called "Mars, Bringer of War". Rather fitting, don't you think?

Schrödinger's Cat is a theory that something can simultaneously be dead and alive. The character Schrodinger is obviously based off that and what the Major is saying is that so long as Schrodinger is seen he is alive, but the moment he is not he is not. So what happens when Alucard consumes such a being? "I called heads." This statement alone gives away that the Major did not actually know but he had a theory and took the chance it would work. The Major is effectively pointing out that there was a 50/50 chance that Schrodinger would blip out of existence, because in order to consume something you have to be aware of it. And if he was right, he theorized, this would cause a single moment where Alucard becomes aware of the void.
49:36 Wait WTF, your mail carrier cares? I've watched my mail carrier on camera put a 'nobody answered the door, sign here' letter into my mailbox... without even turning onto my street to request a signature. My plants died over the weekend because of it, I had to send the footage to get compensation cause they said I didn't answer the door so it's my fault.
Just so you know, because your editor removed all instances of a certain F word, the final video has you say “Nazis by the way, in case you were wondering where we stood on that whole thing.” - the opposite of what you actually said.
The Shrodingers Cat paradox is basicly becoming aware of yourself. The Cat itself exists and doesnt as long as it is not aware of it self. By killing it self it became aware and so did the 3 milion souls, thus he became the Judgment of the souls he consumed

But by that logic, it implies that the priest is a virgin but his ghouls aren't, what?
@rokudodamaza he was when he was bitten it seems. And after that he hss gone full on debauchery mode.
I still hold the idea that the Major was a cyborg because "GERMAN SCIENCE IS THE GREATEST SCIENCE IN THE WORLD!!!"
BEHOLD THE WONDER OF 1930s GERMAN FUTURE SCIENCE!!!!
Well duh, but do you want the actual lore reason?
@@JGD714 is it that he couldn't be a vampire by either natural means or the doctors means so he needed to become a cyborg to keep going?
@@JGD714 I do admit I don't remember exactly why he couldn't become a vampire by either means
11:40 This is why Krillin wasn't allowed to have hair in DBZ.
Without Android 18 to slap him in line he'd form an... enthusiastic group.
Thanks for watching it guys. I’m proud as hell of it and also points for using sonic in the thumbnail ha ha
3:01:40 SAO Abridged was a different crew of writers. But a lot of the TFS people voiced characters in it
31:50 for those who don't know "tautology" is using two words in succession that mean the same thing. It's typically seen as a grammatical mistake, hence why when Alucard called Anderson a "Catholic Sociopath" he then said "Whoops, tautology!"
It doesn't have to be two words in succession, it's any phrase or statement that can only be true from a logical standpoint. So it can be two words in succession like "round circle" or it can be a whole phrase or statement like "if you know, you know," "it is what it is," or "it'll happen if it happens."
"The sky is blue" isn't a tautology because the sky can be colors other than blue(night, sunrise/sunset, a planet with a different atmospheric composition), but "the sky is the color of sky" _is_ a tautology because every possible color the sky could be is a "color of sky".
@@RikkuEcRud "the floor here appears to be made out of floor"
The first rule of tautology club is the first rule of tautology club.
I just love how using that makes a creative double insult
Edit: basically I understood it as calling Anderson a catholic sociopath is the same as calling him a monstrous heathen
so kind of the opposite of an oxymoron?
If you are looking to react to some other Abridged series in the near future, I highly suggest SAO Abridged, by Something Witty Entertainmment. It's hilarious, sad, amazing, and HILARIOUS
1:36:46 Teamfourstar have gone on record saying that THIS is by far, the most heinous joke they made. I believe their exact words were "This joke cemented our spots in hell."
The abridged version of Alucard is so good that hes basically canon now
And bitches love cannons
There's hardly any difference between Takahata's Alucard and Crispin Freeman's Alucard, they're sassy, mad, and loves to go on eccentric moonlit walks.
Sure their vocabulary might be different, but I don't believe there's another way to make a Hellsing abridged if you don't do it more over the top, and since it is over the top to begin with, it's a very difficult task to begin with.
And it's not as if the original hasn't got it's fair share of ridiculous BS like up up down down left right left right bringing the mfing death by Konami...
Yeah, nowadays when anyone references alucard, they mean the abridged version
Eh. I really didn't care for this version.
The Alexander Anderson song was actually a parody of another song called Alexander Hamilton.
From the "Hamilton" broadway show.
It’s actually quite unknown, not many have heard about this hidden, under appreciated masterpiece
In the second episode they didn't want Alucard to be right about the Nazi's so they said George Lucas and the others.
IIRC originally, he just said Millennium not Nazis. And while brainstorming who that was one of the links that came up was the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars.
they should watch Sword Art Online Abridged
I'd be down
would be nice but could be a copyright nightmare to deal with as well
Did you watch the ep18 stream?
@@Arcalargo yep, it was glorious
46:35 This moment is the one and only time Alucard makes a mistake.
That worked flawlessly.
you guys should definitely watch the actual series it's so good !
its rly not,the abridged is a 100x better
@@deenman23 no
I don’t see how they can go backwards to a more serious show after this lol
@@nuredingeziqi679 the story that is there is deep if you really look at it, much less in certain parts but still
forgive me, it's been a couple of years... but if I'm remembering takahata101 talking about it correctly, the one piece references were because fans thought TFS was going to be covering one piece, to the point where when they played episode 1 of hellsing ultimate abridged at youmacon, they premiered it without even mentioning what the anime was... so when the opening came on as one piece, the one piece fans went ballistic because they thought that's what they were getting... and then it transitioned to hellsing...
The best part of that is that they actively went out inviting one piece cosplayers for the showing then did the switcheroo
the SAO abridged series you guys were talking about was actually created by one of the guest voice actors in the last episode and that series is so funny and so good
7:30 I actually did watch The Boondock Saints, because of this.
Was Alucard right about his accusations then?
@@footlong7980 Yeah. Anderson pretty much admits it in the end.
For me, the best part of people seeing the beginning of hellsing abridged is watching the people who aren't used to watching anime that has tons of blood and gore in it. It's always the same two reactions O.O or O.o with the mouth hanging open.
I hope you all react to TFS’s HFIL series one day. It’s a spinoff of DBZ Abridged and is really hilarious ^^
When they find out that cat “girl” is a cat “boy”
Considering we the English and the French had a hundred years war, and have been basically at each others throats for around a thousand years, yes there is some animosity. And its mainly the English, the Scots and the Welsh didn't mind the French so much. In the words of Yes Minister's Sir Humphrey "England has had the same foreign policy for the Last 500 years - to create a disunited Europe"
LOL I have a shirt from SharkRobot that says, "Bitches love cannons!" and has a silhouette of Seras reclining ontop of the Harkonen in the style of the truck mud flaps..
"how powerful is he?"
He's THE vampire count. Every life he sucked the blood of is another life he can sacrifice, and he can willingly manifest parts of those beings after adding their souls to his arsenal.
The significance of being wrecked like Diana is that Princess Diana died in a car wreck.
2:06:50
Love and hate that ya'll literally talked over Dracula's brief explanation on why he is different.
If you’ve played call of duty World War II, you know those explosives you can put the end of your gun that’s what she just shot from the aircraft gun
1:22 Ruff's reaction 🤣
An important part to remember about Walter and Alucard's history is that when they originally worked together, it was during WW2, Walter was practically a child, and Alucard was a girl. That's why Alucard spends so much time taunting him with sexual talk during their fight.
Schroedinger is the cat AMBIGUOUS. They are canonically both genders and neither at the same time.
Except that he’s been referred to as male by multiple sources…
@@ALJ9000 All translations. The original does not specify
@@grantharriman284 Isn’t Schrödinger a male name?
@ALJ9000 it's a last name.
The Hellsing wiki cites the Official Hellsing Guide Book when they list him as male.
TFS could really never miss.. Also, the way they used Sheamus original theme song in the first episode was great.
the next abridged you guys should watch is SAO abridged, it is so hilarious
Yes watch actual Hellsing Ultimate! It’s awesome. Then you guys should check out SAOA abridged. I love SAO, but the abridged is better than the series.
It's gotten to the point that I consider Hellsing Ultimate Abridged to be the actual version compared to the original 😂
Fun Fact Christopher Guerrero voices Enrico Maxwell... Christopher Guerrero is the dub voice of Ainz in OVERLORD
Und We, Und We, und we... Atschuh... is what my profile pic for the last 10 years says.

I'm glad you guys found the things that brought me and my friends together. whoop-whoop-whoop-whoop....
12:05 this is a joke that you kinda had to live through this period to understand. That little cutaway scene is a shot from high-school of the dead, A really raunchy zombie anime. Basically the joke is Alucard caused a zombie apocalypse in Japan because he let one get away.
"I'm cool with war but wasting alcohol? nahj"
I watched the Abridged Hellsing and then went back to the original. Not saying that the original is bad by any means but doing it in this order really makes you miss the humor. Team Four Star made it fit so well it almost feels like a better version sometimes.
Charlie from Smiling Friends was Satan in Hellsing Abridged!? 🤣
Actual Hellsing is definitely worth the watch, so fucking good
Sao is someone else but the voice actor of abridged kirito is one of the 3 Christian people walking down the hall in the 30 year timeskip at the end
He's the nervous inexperienced one
Highly recommend rewatching it with Canadian English subtitles, they add so much more to the scenes
NOW REACT TO HELSING ULTIMATE ALREADY!!! It's only 10 Episodes.
The music during the ending was the people from TFS covering "Shine" by Mr. Big. Which was the ending of the original Hellsing anime. The original Hellsing OPs and EDs are absolute classics, the opening song plays at a few points during the series too.
Every......i repeat.....EVERY line in this series is quotable....truly a masterpiece
Alucard is based on a legendary prince from Romania, who was taken captive by Genghis Khan's grandson.
Thanks for explaining that aristocrats joke, I love it now
Studio Madhouse did the animation, unfortunately they died thanks to Redline, a brilliant racing movie that's like Wacky Races on crack. In fact, you should check it out.
This translation is wild. I've never heard a show so re-written before. Kind of digging, it though. It's pure madness.
Fun fact, the song that plays during The Major's War Speech is from The Planets, by Gustav Holst. The song is called "Mars, Bringer of War". Rather fitting, don't you think?
I actually printed out and framed for my nephew the letter from Alucard to the pope. He has it hanging up in his room.
In the real anime, he is actually gone for 4 episodes i believe, here at least we see him from time to time (this was very well made)
ill be honest when i saw Schrödinger and seras in the same frame i thought they were related like brother and sister
"gentlemen, we are nazis"
Listen dbza is 1 of my favorite pieces of media ever, hellsing abridged is right next to it. Its fuckin INCREDIBLE. The lines kaiser and taka came up with, the voice acting from EVERYONE is just next fuckin level.
Don't forget TFS Hellsing Christmas special
If they like the art style for Hellsing Ultimate they should check out the anime Drifters it has the same style, and also plenty of badass fights
First time viewer. I love that they watched this and hope to see them react to Hellsing Ultimate to compare. I can already tell im going to love watching you guys ❤
Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged would be awesome
