This came out literally before the pandemic hit. This was their kick off to what was supposed to be their world tour and new album, but pandemic hit. They were so excited and pumped to show us what they had been planning for MONTHS. They did perform the song when they did an online concert, which we all were so grateful for, but it wasn't the same. They tried so hard to make us happy and not think about what the world is going through, and then we got the best comfort album ever, BE. They love us so much and we love them just as much. Both the lyrics and the MV represent the internal battle we sometimes have with our shadows. The drums announce the battle. The lyrics then say that we must face our shadows to develop and improve ourselves. That's why the lyrics say "Bring the pain, I'm a fighter"

About the "this beautiful prision" line= the music industry. Even tho they have glorious moments, where they make their songs, share the messages they want to, the love from the fans and all the success, fame brings a LOT of negativity (haters, media, etc) and it's like they can't scape this because even tho they suffer sometimes the good things are worth it, that's why they keep fighting, working harder and giving their best in everything they do. This song is really special to me cause it's giving me strenght ever since it come out just a little before all this pandemic shit started.

"What does RM stand for, Kids?"
    Me: Roscoe's Maaan!
I'm only half way into your reaction but maaan as always I enjoy it so much.
Thanks for appreciating Hobi's part. Besides the dance break it's my favourite scene. The way he's carrying and expressing his rap through his movements is just amazing.
The verse "Gotta go insane to stay sane" has become my motto recently. The last weeks have been challenging with three kids in Kindergarten and School. We are constantly juggling between work, homeschooling, quarantine (sometimes one after another) and so on. I know we're not the only ones.
So my obsession with BTS is kinda insane but it really helps me to stay sane on a daily basis.

So BTS albums are meticulously in order. The song playlist as well as the album sequence and music videos. So watching the music video and song out of order u may miss somethings.
This song is ON goes with the anthem N.O. the theme of no offense or N.O. was the BTS saying u have to fight the system that is trying to keep u in the box. ON says I don't give a ugh. Bring ON the fight we will be ourselves person, shadow and ego. We have found who we are and we are learning to love ourselves.
The Come prima is an Italian term that, in the direction in music, means repetition. It means in the same manner as the first time (As before). Put together, we have BTS' declaration of acceptance. They now are owning the fact that they are both light and shadow.
If u look at the albums u can see the progression of them grow up. BTS in School learning to love, learning they must love themselves and now they have learned who they are. Now the can say I know who I am and I love myself.
Ps I love the Kirk Franklin and I am a OT7. Start as a Suga and RM bias and it grew to OT7. I love who ever in on the screen at that time.

I agree about the watching in order, as well. I generally give the same advice, but Roscoe is doing this in his order and we are along for the ride. You never know, he might pick up on the older references in backwards order, he's extremely observant.

“Carried myself into this beautiful prison”
I interpret that line on a personal level for BTS. They gave up a normal life and a lot of their youth to chase and achieve their dreams. I don’t think they would make a different decision if they had to do it again, but you have to wonder if the fame and loss of privacy and hectic schedules aren’t a “beautiful prison.” I feel like the entire song is personal for them and their hardships in the industry.

Aside from the message of the song, what I get from this video is that it is exactly what it says in the name. The Kinetic part is because the video is so focused on the movement. And this song is their Manifesto to the world. Telling the world to bring it on. They can face it all. But that is just my take.
Also, I think the line "carried myself into this beautiful prison " has to do with the way they have to live because of their fame. It can be hard to live the way they do, but they love what they do, and they chose it.

I hope you understand that I don't exaggerate when I say that I get SO EXCITED every single time I see a notification that you posted a new video. AND THIS TIME IT'S FOR "ON: KINETIC MANIFESTO COME PRIMA" MV!!! LET'S FRIGGIN' GOOOOO!
    *Story Time w/ Jan* :
This MV dropped in the middle of the week. I distinctly remember this because the next day I had work at 8AM and so I tried to stay up for the premiere at 2AM PST but my eyes were too heavy. I fell asleep. The next thing I knew, my body shot up in bed. Wide awake at 4:30AM and slightly manic, I was heartbroken when I saw the time but that didn't quell my racing heart.
My very first BTS comeback was finally here and I wasn't going to miss another second of it sleeping! With adrenaline pumping through my veins, I hastily wiped the sleep from my eyes as I unlocked my tablet and loaded "ON: Kinetic Manifesto Come Prima" MV on RUclips. Apparently, that RUclips premiere broke the record with 1.54m concurrent viewers at that time. That means that by the time I loaded the MV, it had already garnered over 4M views. I was not only impressed, I was floored by that number. 4M in just a couple of hours? How did they even? And then I actually saw the MV and my jaw was on the floor! To say that I was blown away, would have been the understatement of the decade! It was unlike anything I had ever seen before and it was how I knew I was witnessing something truly extraordinary! There was no hope of going back to sleep. I immediately jumped on Spotify and for the 75 minutes wept, cheered, smiled, and melted as I basked in the glory that was their new album, Map of the Soul: 7, that had just been released. I vowed that I would see them in concert.
We won't continue with what had transpired after that bc it's just too depressing to think about but that was the story of my very first BTS comeback.
Ooof... sorry about that. I just get so excited when it comes to this MV. It made quite the first impression on me so I understand your need to talk about this MV for nearly an hour!

@@s.susanmarandi9080 That's so sweet of you to say. I do happen have an associates degree in English and I'm currently getting my Speech and Language Pathology degree with a minor in English Literature. Writing has been my passion for so long now and getting the opportunity to go back to school to fulfill my dream of completing my studies and helping people with speech impediments and disorders so that they can effectively speak their minds and share their thoughts with the world, would be a dream come true. And I would have BTS to thank for that.
When RM had talked about being a young and successful student but not truly having a dream, that sentiment hit me like a freight train. That was the very first catalyst that stirred something inside me. And I had Namjoon to thank for that. To think that if he didn't have to ability or the platform to be able to speak his mind and what was in his heart, I would still be complacently stuck at my 9-5 office job today. I wanted chase that dream again and not settle for my current reality, just like Bangtan. I wanted everyone around me to be able to have the ability to communicate their thoughts and dreams too; to share their stories if they so choose. Because everyone deserves the right to be able to communicate... we are social creatures after all. We crave that connection with "our fellow people" and if I am able to help them be able to do that more effectively, I feel like my life will finally have meaning again.

I have my own personal theory about this performance.
    1) "Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima" means "A declaration told in movement of what came before."
    2) During this particular comeback, BTS made a lot of callbacks to their earlier career. The last song on the album even begins with their debut teaser, the very first thing they ever released as a group. Each live stage during award season featured a song from their debut year as well.
    3) A person familiar with the choreo of older BTS songs can spot pieces of iconic dance throughout the choreo for this song. Suga's kick from IDOL. The backup dancers in the beginning resemble the soldier/teachers from N.O with their batons. J-hope's solo reminds us of the choreo from Fire, but reversed. JK's walk is from an iconic "Airplane: Pt 2" stage. The snappy level changes from "Dope". And of course, Jimin's jacket drop from "Blood Sweat and Tears". There are more, but these are examples that are pretty easy to spot. So I think this is literally what it says, a dance highlighting and calling back to what came before.
There are also a lot of new things in this video/choreo that we never got from BTS before. It's the first time they showed this much skin, for example. All around, it's just a really mind-blowing performance.

BigHit fumbled with ON. They released so many versions, all released at the wrong time, the song could not chart to #1. And then it freefall out of the charts. They learnt enough from this for Dynamite, thankfully.

    • @maddencovers5890

There were a million versions of Butter. They’re still releasing new versions. Dynamite broke through because it’s in English. Like it or not, Americans were not ready to embrace Korean language songs fully. Now we’re 3 mega hits deep in English (and Life Goes On, which did remarkably well for being foreign, especially Korean) and Americans are learning Korean. I think now would be an opportunity to drop a Korean single.

“Wonder Woman stay wit me girl” lolololololololol. Fact: BTS does have a theme and order about their music, however the discography and videos are enjoyable standing alone as well. Baby Army never come into the fandom in order, it usually happens when they get introduced to a song or see them on a award show, TRUE Army eventually take the deep dive and go back to find the order and underlying messages in their work. and it that much better.

Roscoe - this is the title track to their Map of the Soul: 7 album. The album is a musical masterpiece and the songs, when listening to them in order, is about the members’ journey as BTS. “ON” is the climax where they accept their status as global superstars (the cage they have put themselves in) and the pleasures and pain that come with this status. RM does an album review on Vlive where he talks about the album and his thoughts when they put together this album. Its lovely to hear RM discuss it, once you listen to all the songs.

The thing is, aside from everything else, you also have to think about the songs as a part of the album the song comes from. ON is from Map of the Soul 7, which is an album about inner battles. It talks about acknowledging and getting to know your "shadow" (the part of yourself you hide out of fear) and accept it as part of yourself in order to fully accept who you are. The shadow is also the reason for the writing on Tae's face. The Map of the Soul series is inspired by Carl Gustav Jung's Map of the Soul, which says that the human soul consists of three parts: ego, persona and shadow. The ego is your sense of self, your conscious part of who you know you are. Shadow is your hidden part - the part you hide even from yourself out of shame or fear. Persona is the part of yourself you show to the outside world.

I think your theory about the music industry is actually correct.. the original MV actually always give me these vibes.. and they throw themselves in this beautiful prison.. which is the music industry.. and RM said.. it's not that I'm unafraid.. but I fly together with the black wind.. and Suga said.. as long as my feet are not buried.. it's okay if I fall.. I'm gonna get up.. so bring the pain on.. cause we love what we do.. and we're gonna rise together with ARMY..
Also RM always talked about their second single which is N.O.. which if you flip it.. it becomes ON.. but N.O is talking about the koreon educational system.. so I can't link together.. but he always mentioned it when talking about ON..
Also notice this song is part of Map of the soul album which includes concepts from Carl Jung's map of the soul book..
I'm excited for you to watch the dance practice to this.. it's even more hype.. it gets me excited everytime I watch it..
And about the boys.. don't worry too much about the biases.. each and every one constantly wrecks us.. you named them all right.. but the two you missed were.. V and Jungkook.. V is the one with the tattoo on his face and it says.. "The shadow like me." and Jungkook is the one with the Micheal Jackson moves.. the one that sang the high note..
Thank you Mr. Roscoe for hanging out.. it was a pleasure.. happy to see you excited and happy again .. see you next time.. purple you 💜💜💜💜💜

He was my escapism, and through him, my very typical world felt magical.

I love these boys more than I ever thought possible. A few interesting facts about the mv for BTS "ON" official video:
The dance portion was choreographed by Sienna Lalau, from the LA area when still in her teens. She appears in the video leading the dancers up front & center at the beginning of the video.
Sienna also choreographed BTS's "Dionysus" performance dance (watch it live, amazing) and J-hope's "Chicken Noodle Soup " (and dances in it also).
The dancers were from THE LAB, a multinational dance troup Sienna works with & who BTS has used while on tour in the US.
The band appearing in the mv is "The Blue Devils", a competitive Drum and Bugle Corp .
The video was filmed at the Sepulveda dam outside LA.

I hate being sick because I feel like I get to the couch late due to sleeping so much. Everyone has probably told you all the theories or interesting facts, so here is my two cents. I was so proud that the Blue Devils Drum Corps got to be in this video with the dancers from The Lab. I marched in a group that competed against BD and it's always awesome to me to see drum corps represented. I'm a fourth generation member and it just makes me proud. 💜 Next time BTS needs a drum corps, I hope they are in Boston, MA so MY corps can be involved. 😅🤞💜
    Also...

    Suga: J-HOOOOOPPPPE 🤣
    THAT IS ALL. 💜

I am really enjoying your reactions so thank you. This brilliant MV video was what sparked my interest in BTS during one of the Australian pandemic lockdowns. As I had recently retired, I had the time to delve further into this amazingly talented group and have watched so many BTS songs, performances and other content since their debut in 2013. Needless to say, I am well and truly ensconced down the BTS rabbit hole! I love all of these talented, respectful and humble young men but Jimin is my ultimate favourite, followed by J Hope and Suga. Also kudos to RM for his multiple talents and for being an excellent leader of the group.

An hour in and I could keep watching 😁 Don't let anyone tell you your interpretations are wrong, what you get out of BTS songs is for you and you alone. Finding out additional meanings just helps you learn about BTS and their messages, but don't let go of your own feelings.
Just FYI, I'm ex-Air Force Intel and turning 60 this year. I just love BTS and RM is also my bias, but I truly love all the boys 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Definitely here for the full hour! I love learning all kinds of new things about cameras and cuts and all that, and really enjoy your insights and interpretations.
The one you kept talking about doing the Michael Jackson moves is Jungkook.
RM has been my bias from the first time I watched a video closely enough to note any of them as more than "hey they dance and sing in that video", and hasn't been wrecked yet, but every single one of the others is a very very *very* close second place. OT7 is a thing for a reason! All of them should get all of our support.
Also, yeah, they are all masters at playing to the camera.

The one you confidently called Jungkook at 37:05 was Jin; Jungkook was the one with the haunting voice and the one with the writing on his face was Taehyung/V. You'll get it! I mixed those three up for the longest time. Here's a facial recocnition tip, since they all keep changing their hair: Jin has those plump cherub lips like a Victorian doll, and round cheeks, that's why ARMYs call him a hamster; Taehyung's mouth naturally turns down at the corners when at rest and when he's smiling is sort of box-shaped; Jungkook has prominent front teeth, huge round bambi eyes and a big earnest bunny smile - hence 'bunny'. I hope that helps!

@@ThisRoscoe you'd need to adjust the video or audio(of what you show US)... Some overlay another video(so both visuals play together) so that it's not so clear, and some mess with the audio WE hear (which I like less). Most ARMY understand and are familiar with constraints required due to broadcast/copyright issues and make do as best we can, lol. We'd absolutely LOVE to see your reaction, so we "suffer" what we must, lol.

Hi, that was me who said you might not survive the rapline lol. Like, you better wear a helmet or something, for safety reasons. I mean, ya boy RM was already demolishing underground rappers at 15 years old. Suga said he knew of RM before joining BTS because of RM's reputation in the underground rap scene. All the rappers were afraid to battle RM, and they were all so much older. But yeah, I would say all 3 rappers are very tame and mellow in these BTS songs you've done haha. Suga's rapper alter ego for his solo stuff is Agust D. When Agust D steps out, you better brace yourself. And Hobi may be our sunshine, but when he's rapline J-Hope sometimes I feel attacked.
The way I laughed when you screamed SUGGAAAA at his part haha. Suga is known for screaming J-Hope's name a lot when they watch their own music videos or live performance vids. Whenever J-Hope pops on the screen, Suga points and screams J-HOOOOOOOOOOPE. He did it so much that it became like a meme 🤣
J-Hope is a very extroverted and expressive guy. Since his foremost passion is hiphop dancing, he expresses a lot with body language and he also makes a lot of sound effects. He's bubbly, goofy and scream and laughs quite a lot haha. Suga is introverted and tends to not be as openly expressive sometimes, but other members can bring it out of him, especially JHope. Maybe that's why Suga screams Jhope's name so much? They are like the perfect opposite counterparts to each other, yin and yang.

The beautiful prison is living with your personal shadows, your dark side. But also in this case, fame. A lot of this song is the perspective of living in "two worlds" of their real selves and their persona, or their Korean-ness and their worldwide attention.

A manifesto is a public declaration of one’s beliefs and intentions. Usually a manifesto is written, as in Mein Kampf (Hitler’s Nazi ideology), or the Communist Manifesto (K. Marx). But in this case, BTS’s declaration of their philosophy is done in kinetic form (through a choreographed performance). The lyrics of ON, expresses their resilience over time and going forward (Bring the pain on). They are used to challenges. Ironically, they did not anticipate the COVID-19 pandemic that would bring the world to a stand still, including the cancellation of their MOTS 7 world tour… but out of the forced limbo, they made BE, their latest album, and their record breaking online concerts.

    Jin has the silver jacket,
    J-Hope is all black
V (black hair) & Jimin (silver hair) all white
Suga, Namjoon & Jungkook are in black trouser/jackets & white inner shirts (difference in their colour)…
Take note of their order (eldest to youngest) when they lined up, just before Jungkook belted his solo part: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Namjoon, Jimin, V, Jungkook.

About the shadow part, its based on Carl Jung's concept of persona, shadow and ego(theres also 3 solo rapline songs with the same name) which was a theme for this era. The channel dkdktv has a series of videos which breaks down a lot of their songs so you can check them out. And yes you wont survive the rapline haha. their best songs include ddaeng, outro:tear, ugh! and many many more!! Also I think knowing the members (introduction video 2021 update) will make u appreciate their art even more :D

I think BTS' more recent imagery is almost never about haters any more. Around the Mic Drop remix, they made a point of saying goodbye to the haters and that they had simply achieved enough success that they chose to no longer be informed and driven by that narrative any longer.

It's soooo good to see you going through this journey of discovery and actually experience the joy we felt through your eyes of when we first discovered BTS. We're here for the long videos, the short ones, for all of them as long as they're honest and you are one of the real ones. Now scooch over and let me find a little corner on this couch as I'm here for the ride.
Regarding the members and trying to identify them, don't stress to much... in a few videos things will just click and you'll be shocked at how you were ever confused. At 57:05, that boy in the centre is our maknae (the youngest of the group) Jungkook. Same guy with the angelic voice that sang the bridge. Jimin has the grey hair, he started the song and he's centre screen when you paused at 48:10. V has the face tattoo on this MV (48:55) and he's the one popping behind Jimin on the first verse. As for our Worldwide Handsome Jin, he's in the centre straight after the dance break (57:48). As for the rap line, you got it down! And yes...... I made sure to pull times for the end of the video to show you we really mean it when we say we'll watch it no matter how long the video is :)
Can't wait for the next one and to see you explore further into this universe. Welcome to ARMY!

So I had to watch this several times to appreciate it and now its right up there for me.
