@@WhiskyInThe6 I haven't seen a bottle of any batch in a few years, and I passed back then. I got a sample a while back and this has become a must buy for around retail. But I haven't seen any bottles anywhere in the last 2 years.
Great stuff. Stashed away two of these three years ago when I could get them for $130usd total as part of a good sized UK order. Opened one in September to celebrate my 60th birthday along with some other old independent bottles. Cheers Rob
WB230571 shows 9 Feb 2023. WB238406 shows 28 Apr 2023. Those are whiskybase references, in case it's not clear. I've come to prefer YYYY-MM-DD formats for clarity's sake, but also they sort usefully. Out of my range, but thanks for the review.
Great review Rob. I have last years 24 and this year's looks way darker from what i could see. Gona have to get this years as I love me some heavy sherry! Cheers!🥃👍
I was never a big fan of the so-called sherry bombs such as the standard 12yo Macallan and Glendronach. Thought they were OK, but they didn't knock my socks off. Then, early this year I came across an independent release (Single Malts of Scotland) of 12yo Highland Park that had been matured in what must have been a very good, very wet sherry butt and bottled at cask strength. It was absolutely divine. That distinctive Highland Park heather character was still very much in evidence, but it also had deep, dark fruit and chocolate notes that elevated the taste to another dimension entirely. Best Highland Park I've ever had of any age or source and it was priced at only $95.00. I stumbled upon this completely by accident, buying the first bottle without having any prior knowledge about it. I ended up buying 4 bottles, giving one as a gift to a good friend. So if you ever hear of an exceptional example of sherry matured Scotch, such as the Ancnoc 24 reviewed here or the independent HP I found, you really owe it to yourself to try some of it.
Nice dram for sure! Got a couple stashed away already because I wouldn't be surprised if this disappears altogether....whisky production was low in the early 2000s, so we're going to see the 25y olds jump up in price even more. That's my prediction at least. How would you compare it with the Tamdhu 18? They are a similar price point and I kind of felt the Tamdhu drinks older than 18yrs? Cheers Rob!
Which batch I get of what bottle ? Any of them? So basically the answer should be not really since it all depends on what batch I get of any of the above.
Hey Rob, just wanted to let you know that the Ancnoc 24 is about to be discontinued. The 18 will still be produced, but the 24 might get replaced.... maybe with a 21 year old?
Great vid Rob! Keep up the great work. They finally restocked some. Bought 3 bottles from Zyn last night 😃
I had no idea this was still being made and I can't find one anywhere. I'll have to keep looking.
Like this batch or in general?

Currently salivating! Can’t wait to get this. And to your point, especially in these times, price and quality, hard to beat
It’s awesome.
That looks much darker than the ones I have. May have to revisit!
It’s delicious

Happy belated birthday Donner. Cheers!
Glen Garioch Renaissance 17 year old Chapter 3. 50.8% non chill filtered. $140 CAD(all in) Ridiculous value and very delicious
Can’t remember if I had chapter 3
Hi rob, if u had to choose dronach portwood/12 or ancnoc 24, how wpuld u rate it? Thanku man
Ancnoc 24 all day everyday.
I will need to revisit. Based on the 21/22 bottle it is a little tannin strong and not at all sherry.. For that reason the 18 was my favourite.
18 used to be my preference as well.
Crazy to think that this was still produced in the previous millennium.
Definitely
what month is 2023 bottling?
I believe it was 09/02/23
@@WhiskyInThe6 I think that's actually the 9th of February, not September. Great review as always :)
@@attilafrencz4454 I was wondering. I know there’s a difference in the UK vs the way we read a date.

It’s definitely darker than usual. Cheers John.

Yes it is

I’d take the Ancnoc 24 over the Tamdhu but they’re close
Knockdhu is a great distillery indeed and always fairly priced despite the crazy times we are in. Thanks Roberto ciao Grazie 🙏 S.
Salute mio amico
Would you put this over the Bunna 18, Tamdhu 18 , & Macallan 18 bottles?
100% but it definitely matters which batch you get.

Hey Rob, great review. I realize you are a big Ancnoc fan. Do you take 24 over 18 given this review of 2023 release? Happy holidays and cheers Rob!
Used to prefer the 18 but this 24 wins by a landslide.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Glad to hear. I am tempted to take the plunge as I was intrigued from your review of the 18 yo. Thanks Rob!
Where did you get it from?
Check out stores in Alberta. KWM, BSW or Craft.

That’s sad news. I stocked up on the batch I liked though. Thanks for the heads up.
You forgot to give us any tasting notes?
Delicious
@@WhiskyInThe6 okaaay….so this is a whisky review with no tasting notes, interesting.
I remember when i didn’t make enough money to buy it at $135 in AZ….now its long long gone and i got a buck to spend 😢

8 minutes of praise for a whopping score of 90, LOL.
That’s an incredible score this year
at 300+$ range, Cognacs/Aramgnacs or Rums offer much, MUCH better nectars ; cask strength/barrel proof BOURBONS are a-m-a-z-i-n-g at this price range.
Still would take scotch at this range
