Loving your fall videos, and that map is so cool!
The actual "tunnel" starts at 27:30
Harbor Springs is just perfect. What a lovely little town.
Do you live there? If so, good/bad points please. Thanks, John
@@CheckThisOut77 No, I don't. I've visited it in 2002. My aunt has returned there in 2010. She said it kept being adorable. Seems a lovely place to live.
A long time ago a friend and I drove through this area during the peak of fall colors. Even on a drizzly day it was spectacular. It seemed every leaf was perfect!
Wow how things have changed since I left. I lived up in Petoskey for many years. I graduated from Petoskey High. I moved away to Ohio in 04'. Lots of great memories up there. Thanks.
they really should make that main part of tunnel of trees just one way during peak season. LOL
Killing it with these fall vids!
I actually took down the M-22 and I’ll have it re-uploaded on Sunday. Copyright music issues on the last one.
I drove this road literally the same week you did. My wife and I did a circle tour around Lake Michigan and someone at a hotel back in Holland Michigan suggested we do this. Great advice. :)
Checked the calendar. It was the day after we drove through. Oct 4. We were in Frankenmuth on the 3rd.
Still pretty close though, that’s funny!
Chris, you are an artist and this Tunnel of Tree post proves it. You always tell a story, whether it is the beauty of Charlevoix and Petosky or the reality of parts of Detroit. You help recreate memories of places that some of us may never have a chance to see again. I will definitely revisit this post again. Would love to see you capture a short of Indian River and the majesty of that area, too. Also of Flint, where I grew up a long time ago (save your Detroit soundtrack lol). If you need to know some hot spots to hit if you do make one of Flint, let me know. Everyone should subscribe here, so very interesting!
I really appreciate your content Chris! A few Summers ago, during 4th of July weekend I stayed in a very small rental chalet with dedicated lakefront within the "Tunnel of Trees" main area. While Harbor Springs is even more crowded on weekends in Summer, there is much less traffic in the Tunnel. I guess most people prefer to see the Fall Color when they visit - but I prefer to see less traffic & more scenic, LOL. I'd do this trip again in a heartbeat.
The Petoskey stone is from an ancient coral reef in a shallow sea located in this area, 350 million years ago. The reef was scraped up by the various glaciers and deposited on the shoreline and interior areas of northern Michigan.
I live in Houghton Lake its pretty too.
Well done! Thank you!
Also recommend the tunnel of trees along US 41 south of Copper Harbor MI. Then M-26 westbound is a scenic drive along Lake Superior
Thanks for posting I don't get out much retired miss petoskey and Charlevoix liked your videos live in Gaylord just missed tornado was 2 blocks from devastation of neighbor hood
Glad that you were safe, Barb!
We drove the Tunnel of Trees at night (no traffic/high beams). I played the Astroid Field Run from Empire Strikes Back at full volume. My wife was screaming so I went faster(NO traffic). We were all laughing at the end!
Next time you're up, we'll take you on a better colors tour through Jordan River Valley. M119 is too busy these days.
This looks fun on a motorcycle. I don't like how there's so much traffic + the narrow road. Still looks pretty fun tho.
Yeah. You could probably guess that the traffic was from everyone (like me) thinking that there would’ve been peak fall colors that weekend.
Not sure where you’re from but there are plenty of other areas in Michigan with less traffic and are still great for fall colors. The Petoskey area will always be crowded on the weekends.
@@ChrisHarden i think the thumb area is nice for fall colors as well
Oh wow, lots of Michigan vids now!
(I hope there's a list for request vids.)
I’ll always have spurts of Michigan vid’s here and there. I still remember that you’re wanting a Schwartz Creek vid. Just letting you know that I haven’t forgot. Still might be a while before I’m able to get to it.
@@ChrisHarden Fair enough. Take your time.
The music for the video. Who is it by?
Just drove through there a couple weeks ago and missed the color by a week or 2.
Notice the clouds. Wall to wall for weeks on end in the fall. Typical Michigan. Detroit (as well as Cleveland & Buffalo), for example, have more cloudy days per year than Seattle or Portland OR.
date says Oct 3 here. I sse lots of green still. We just returned yesterday and it was bright oranges and yellows. Inland most of the trees have dropped, but along this coastline M19 the colors are vivid and holding on. I am sure they will all have fallen by next week.
Tomorrow I have an M-22 upload at noon ET. It was about the best day you could’ve hoped for to see fall colors.
@@ChrisHarden
i want to upload mine but i have to edit. Looking forward to yours
That's M-119. Peak colors on the coast are around Oct 15th; a little earlier inland but it varies from year to year. Colors were just getting started at this time.
It's a vole infestation there's way too many cars on the roads up here😮
Why do you tailgate? I notice you're not the only one. Tailgating is stupid as for one there is no benefit, two, it's dangerous and three, it slows down traffic in general. It's pointless and dangerous but most drivers do it anyway. At 32:00 minutes you're hitting your brakes as you go off to the side. Why on Earth follow that close ? We used to go up there frequently back in the 90's and 2000's. I never once saw that many cars on the road. We used to stay at a place called Krude Kraft Lodge. The owners sold it and it's now a religious retreat I believe. It was beautiful. It was right at Wormwood road not too far north of Goodhart. The store at Goodhart, (I hope it's still there), was wonderful. There is a festival called Blissfest every year just east of Cross Village that was also wonderful. I couldn't believe there was a little traffic jam at Robinson road, (where the Goodhart store is). Never saw that before. The lodge I mentioned earlier is the place called Blisswood that you passed shortly after Robinson road. Thanks for the memories! I hope you were able to have a good meal at Leg's Inn. What surprised me the most was the number of people and cars. Back when we went up there there was never anything approaching those numbers even in mid summer. Kinda sad.
I just drove this yesterday, lots of traffic was not worth 7 hours of driving in my case.
Yeah... traffic sucks.
i bet 10 dollar generals have sprouted up since this video has been uploaded lol
you can actually find them even easier ony port Huron, fort Gratiot area
This could be any road in Connecticut.
You should have stopped into Leggs Inn.
Yes! And Polish Kitchen @7:26 on the left is good, too. Lots of good Pole food around here.
Are we ever going to get to the tunnel of treess
Is this the tunnel?
@@debrabrink147 the tunnel actually starts at about 30 minutes in
As a resident of the Upper Peninsula, the slow driving tourists make me cringe.
As someone who used to live there, I completely agree.
But then the yoopers visit here in FL and yes, slow drive here. Be greatful for such tourist
