THANK GOODNESS THIS MOVIE ISN'T DEAD
Nah. We all just had to wait "1 year hence." 😏
It is time to claim our honor 👑
@@MAC_ACK_ACK_ACK_ACK I see what you did there

I find it ironic how this was delayed a year, much like Gawain waiting for the Green Knight to return.
Or may be Gawain was waiting for COVID lockdown to be over 😅😅
I get what you mean! One year hence we now have this film.
Like rain on your wedding day?
Wasn't it the other way around? Sir Gawain makes a promise to the green knight to seek him out in the green cathedral one year from the day of their challenge.
That's not irony, that's coincidence.
One does not simply watch an A24 trailer.
One watches it over and over again even after having watched the movie, because both movie and trailer are just so good.
Just came back to rewatch it, one of my favorite movies this past year!
So it's not just me.
Looks trash tbh
Yes the movie is so good but the question that we must ask: Did we understand it?
I'm sure that many of us will say that it is not because simply they don't understand it!
To grasp the idea that i want to convey here, take an example. If i say to you that 1+2+3+....=-1/12 you will say immediately that i'm crazy right? BUT if you go and search a little bit things will be clear and in order..
Mine would have to be their horror trailers, they're just so good
This movie is a slow burn focused on a man wrestling not with monsters and demons, but rather himself. This trailer makes it seem much more action packed than it is, so it threw people off. If you take the film as it is, it's very well done.
i was so grateful for that. i saw people who i respect post something about it, so i knew it wouldn't be action-filled; it's been stuck in my head on & off for the last 6 months.
I appreciate knowing what to expect. And having just watched this on Prime, I appreciate it.
Every frame of this trailer looks like a freaking magic the gathering card
Just needs a Gaea's cradle shot ;)

This is how you do an Arthurian movie! So many great Arthurian stories out there and yet all we kept getting in the recent past is "King Arthur, but like, an action hero." It's a dark and weird and beautiful well of myth.
True! This IS how an epic should be filmed. They really nailed it at potraying mythical aspect of it. It never supposed to be overly grand or scary, it supposed to be mysterious, disturbing, and surreal.
Are there enough ladies in this though?
But isn't the story of the green knight kinda goofy? Isn't it kind of weird to see such a serious adaptation of it?
@@ashtonkhan8763 It's the story of facing death and willing to embrace it. It does appear strange though yes.

Yes. Yes they do.
Trailers are usually done by third parties, not the studios themselves.
Lawrence Milano A24 should pay these contractors more. But strange how A24 trailers all have a distinct unusual style.

Why is that knight trying to kill Groot?
Lmao

Lol bro what
1:45 got legit chills here. the "legend" part of "Arthurian legend" is definitely emphasized and I love it
Dev Patel makes it looks like a Mahabharata warrior lost in an Arthurian legend.
You gotta have diversity now, said the studio DI manager. Imagine the outcry if someone made a movie about the Yoruba legends and Lemaya and Changó turned out to be portrayed by white actors.
@Meownifest what is the problem if we want proper casting that doesn't ruin the historic setting of the movie? Dev Patel is a great actor, but it doesn't make sense in a 4th-8th century England, even if it's an arturian fiction story.
@Meownifest The israelites of the time of Jesus Christ had a fairer skin than that of today's arab, and actual semites (not khazar/ashkenaz). The trade of subsaharans as slaves began some time in rhe 6th to 7th century, and so did the gene exchange that made arabs and other semites and south europeans a little darker. So I lean towards thinking Jesus Christ has fair skin but semitic features.
The green curry ?🤔
Words cannot express how ready I am for a King Arthur movie that isn't trying to be LOTR.

@@TheBeastNC This is true. It's also that films based on Arthurian legend tend to get... loose with the source material, so it's a pleasure to find a movie that obviously drew from the original texts.

For everybody claiming "finally an arthurian based movie where Arthur is not the main character" , you should know that in Middle English literature Arthur was mostly a background character as well and the main one was usually a knight of the Round Table (Gawain, Lancelot, Perceval and Tristan)
this is not the first one, "the first knight" Sean conery was a supporting role in King arthur, main character was Lancelot (richard geere)
actually it's Norman mythology
TO be Fair, in most of the arthurian stories, even those focused on Arthur, hes not the most compelling character. It always tends to be his knights, or merlin or morgan la fay to name a few. So more movies like this based off these other stories would be really interesting. Like maybe a lancelot movie that shows his downturn to an antaganist, or explore the story of Galahad, the knight that actually nearly took over Arthurs kingdom, before he took on look at lancelot bro'd out and knelt to Arthur to be "Friends" with lancelot

"Sumwhyle wyth wormez he werrez, and with wolues als,
Sumwhyle wyth wodwos, þat woned in þe knarrez,
Boþe wyth bullez and berez, and borez oþerquyle,
And ETAYNEZ, þat hym anelede of þe heȝe felle;"
The poem refers to foes of Camelot using a Germanic term for giant: the Middle English etayn, from the Old English eoten and cognate with the Old Norse jötunn.
In modern translations they are not always referred to as Giants but as Ogres or such but the original text makes it pretty clear: Gawain meets dragons, wolves, wild men, bulls, bears, boars and Etaynez/Giants.
@@terriblereading7586 probably what they had in mind, but "giant" and "ogre" are just two possible latinate translations of eoten, and "ogre" is arguably even better, as "eoten" does not necessarily indicate gigantic stature, it's apparently a term for a "voracious monster" of some description, for which "ogre" is probably a better approximation than "naked hairless giant".
