Sadly, it's just a joke made for the sketch. Papyrus has no bold. You can make it "bold" in Word, which just outlines the letters in more black, but it doesn't look like the Avatar 2 logo. The bold and italic faces of fonts, especially professional fonts, are completely separate glyphs. The first sketch ended with this same joke lmao
@@floydmaseda Bro! I was just thinking the same thing!
@@floydmaseda The Wingdings at the end spell out, "The Day Of Steven"
OMG! The sequel to one of the greatest snl sketches I've ever seen. His face when he realised that its papyrus in bold was the end of me 😂
Whats even better is that the original was an EXACT thought I had when they originally released "Avatar". I couldn't believe they just used Papyrus.
But when I saw the Avatar 2 logo I thought they legitimately changed it. So for all this time I'm like "Ryan Gosling would be proud". Only to find out that it's actually Papyrus in bold.
Life changing.
Funny right 😅😅😅
which sketch is the original one?
@@SDXStudio It's not! I just imported the logo and papyrus in bold in my computer. Nothing alike. It's still funny though
Saying "Its not a huge improvement, but it's not papyrus" with his mouth full was so funny
This was fucking hilarious and brilliant. I love the seriousness. Nobody spoils it.
Okay, now I want Gosling to play a psychotic villain in a movie
So Drive?
@@seg1912 Drive was more of an anti-hero. This sketch had Joker type vibes.
The doll movie?
@@RicClifton the level of violence he exhibited in that film felt a bit more than just anti-hero
@@seg1912 yea but his intentions were pure. He did everything he did to protect someone he cared about. but yea, combine this sketch and what he did in Drive, The Place Between Two Pines, Blade Runner, and Only God Forgives and Ryan could easily play a villain or serial killer type character.
The way he said "It's an afterthought!" was phenomenal. It really came from his soul. And no, not just from Steven WIngdings but from Ryan Gosling himself
The giant red flag behind her when she said, "I don't know the first thing about you☝️" 😅😭🤣🔺️ THIS IS ART❤😂
Holy shit. That is genius.
I didn’t even notice at first. Great catch!
Great eye 😮
Well spotted!!!!

I'm retired now, but I used to play the original Papyrus sketch for my typography students.
And I used "Edible Arrangements" as an example of what NOT to do for logo design, so seeing THAT near the beginning felt like a personal callout!
You know some certain people aren't too experienced and maybe in one way or the other they've refused to learn from others or make research about things that'll help them. Where are you watching from?
The wingdings at the end say "The Way of Steven"
I got everything but the 'W'. I think it might be a different character in some versions of the font...
@@CBlargh I think they're f*ing with us and the actual translation is "The Σay Of Steven", with the Σ (sigma) symbol, which looks like a rotated W.
I knew someone would take the pain to decode. So I just read the comments 😂
Holy Deep Dive Batman!

"He just put it in bold!"
The AUDACITY!! Using papyrus was bad enough
@ArianaAubrey-ef9cj where's the vid? 🙄
Click on Ariana's avatar (pun intended) then click on it when it's bigger. From there you'll see the channel with one video. 3.4K likes in nine days. I think you'll get that camera.
Every self diagnosed OCD person understands this!😆
That may be a callback to the original skit where he compared using the font to a child pulling leaves off trees: ruclips.net/video/jVhlJNJopOQ/видео.htmlm43s
And in the layers that is this "Papyrus" universe, in the above segment of the skit it shows the person going to select a font, and briefly landing on Wingdings but then switching to Papyrus 🤯
This sketch is golden honestly I can’t believe it got a sequel lmao
LOL, I just realized that Gosling's long hair and his dip exercise were reminiscent of Max Cady in Cape Fear.
"Maybe if we raise our voice, change can happen" - great quote.
Appropriate for our current times
@@is6684 Appropriate for all times
then again probably a lot of changes happen due to changes in economics, technology and culture, but I'd like to think it applies to all times
Also don't forget that Papyrus 1 and 2 were directed by Dave McCary, Emma Stone's husband, and she was a great screen partner of Ryan Gosling for many years! Everything connected ❤️
huh. that's actually weird.
Further proof that La La Land is the centre of the universe.
@@xgalarion8659is it really?

in a way, the original La La Land
not really tho

This wasn't just a sketch; I was really surprised when he found out it was in bold!!! Hahaha, lol
the new Avatar logo was actually developed by John Roshell, so it’s a completely different typeface!
THE AVATAR LOGO’S PAPYRUS IN BOLD
@@macaoron Well, whatever he did, IT WASN'T. ENOUGH!!!!

@@atithipradhan5988 You are right, is not the same font!
God this deserves a fuckin Emmy… my stomach is hurting from laughing
Ryan Gosling casually crushing a performance and elevating an SNL skit to something ... beyond. LOVE him! 🙌🏽
2:13 that moment of pure shocking, terrifying realization that it’s just papyrus in bold combined with the bass hit from a blade runner-esq score in the background is too damn good lol
Within papyrus interlinked.
His "GOD DAMMIT" is almost exactly the same as when he meets the memory designer in 2049 too lmfao

Now Papyrus needs a part 3 to finish the trilogy. Thank you SNL and Ryan Gosling for giving me exactly what I wanted
Papyrus in italic incoming
Not everything needs to be a trilogy. a satisfying sequel is already an achievement. But if they ever decide to, I wish them good luck.
Once Avatar 3 is out for a year or two we'll get it
Yeahhhh I still don’t trust that Jacob Crone
Now that Steven has his closure I feel like it would have to be the psychotic revenge of Anna-Beth for being so badly used and manipulated.
I still come back to this as evidence SNL is still alive. Genius writing. Both of these skits. Wherever you are writers, kudos to you 😂
I loved the way Ryan Gosling's eyes darted back and forth when he was looking at the street cart menu.
That and the way he whispered ‘I have a plan’
The guy really can act.
0:26 The Edible Arrangements flyer is perfection!!! SO recognizable!!!
That and the restaurant menu. Perfect 👌

More Joaquin Phoenix, I think.
@@SupremeGreatGrandmasteragree. More Joaquin. And on that note Ryan would’ve been better. Even though Joaquin crushed it
@@SupremeGreatGrandmaster Yeah, and deliberate, I'd say, with the sequel releasing soon(ish). His jacket, during the awards tirade. isn't quite Joker red but it's not far off.
This Ryan Gosling acting is Oscar award worthy.
The font nerd in me was like, "did they just bold it?" and started laughing hysterically when that was the case! Omg this is amazing.
Papyrus doesn't have a true-drawn bold face, and if you use other publishing software, you might not be able to set Papyrus in bold.

I just spent a solid 10 minutes figuring it out
That's a fun fact
Love how Steven was wearing the red jacket for the finale
The costumes, the hair, it's so well done.

Only Gosling is able to carry a sketch like this.
He and Adam Driver have that type of humour to make these things not feel ackward.
Omg. I’ve watched the original payarus so many times. I found it so funny. And, this. This was so magical. I found closure alongside Mr. Wingdings. Incredible stuff.
It gives me a lot of satisfaction that they brought Kyle Mooney for the sequel, he was the main villain in the first one and his redemption arc is good
